Maybe so but the current coach is doing his best to make sure the program dies. Don’t expect him back next season. He has quit on team and has 1 foot out the door.

Halftime, Madison and South County are scoreless. Sc had it deep in Madison territory in the closing seconds of the first half but the clock ran out on them. They burned all their timeouts earlier in the half

Westfield - 28
Patriot - 0

WF could have rolled up more but second sting went in early 4th quarter. WF ended game kneeling in Patriot’s red zone. Game got pretty chippy all throughout, big kid for Patriot had at least 1 personal foul if not 2 penalties. Really thought it would have been a better game.

Not sure about 'everyone' (see last week's game for example). Sometimes they aren't firing on all cylinders. But last night, they could have scored another 21 points. But that's not the Simmons way.

Time has come for Pannoni and his staff to go. SOCO football gets like 95 freshmen out every year, and he pushes/brainwashes the players to buy in to year round football, leaving cold pizza for the rest of SOCO sports. His practices are so long and brutal, there’s no gas for the games. They lose to teams they should beat, like Woodson last season. Plus he’s got a few shady characters on his staff. A new head coach and culture is needed. Too much talent, too little results.

Whatever it is, it's not the kids. SoCo has players, but the coaches just aren't getting what's needed during the game. Gotta agree with above, this falls squarely on the coaches.

Pannoni and co have helped establish a good football culture at South County. But it is pretty obvious they have taken the program as far as it will go. Problem is good coaches are hard to find. You could end up with worse.

Who has Robo beaten? You all got squashed SoCo who have proven they are not a top tier program cuz each time they face one,(CVHS,WHS,MHS) they get drubbed. Prepare for an early playoff exit. Couldn’t win with Cobbs def can’t win without him.

Lake Braddock beats a hapless Oakton team 63-0.

I could never understand why people on this board would criticize Doc and his staff, now I see why!

He and his staff have no class at all!!!!! None!!!!

An onside kick up 35-0, come on now, to beat a team like that and rub it in their faces is totally classless. Did you not get anything out of Stone Bridge game and the humiliation that followed your team? Was this just for your ego?

All of the criticizing of him and his staff on this board is truly warranted and will/should continue.

Check out Westfield, they could run the score up on any team in the region. They choose to show great sportsmanship, that my friends is why they continue to be the best program, have best coaches and will always be a top tier program in the state.

Has Lake Braddock even beaten a team with a winning record under Doc?

Well, it's not fake. They are marginally better than last year. Got a lot of seniors and are not making as many mistakes as last season. They are getting good results. I could be wrong but I don't think they are quite on the same level as Westfield. I have it Westfield-Centreville-Madison right now. That being said if Westfield doesn't play their best game either of these two are capable of beating them.

It's not the coaching. The Soco players aren't that good. They were missing their best player, Tyler Johnson #25, who destroyed Hayfield by himself against Madison. They have lost to the top 3 teams in the North region in close games. The staff will be gone after this year and all of you will get your wish, they'll be another Lee. Be careful what you wish for.

Curious to know how all the Concorde programs are doing.

It seems to me that Westfield, Centreville, and Madison are all fielding good teams on all 3 levels (Freshmen, JV, and Varsity). You can expect these programs to be good for several more years at the least. What I'm really interested in knowing how Oakton's Freshmen team is doing. Is there hope for the future? Is there enough football talent or does the area not care about the sport anymore? Also want to know what is wrong with the talent at Chantilly. Oakton's demographics are really different from that of Westfield and Centreville but Chantilly's are not. Chantilly, Centreville, and Westfield have the same or very similar demographics, one could say Chantilly has a slight advantage in that area as well as the most students. What seems to be the issue here. Obviously coaching is one but the also seem to lack the the talent which is surprising because the CYA and SYA programs have been great for WHS and CVHS, and Chantilly also gets players from those programs. Is the school failing to promote football?

Both Centreville and Westfield are fed by SYA. Chantilly is fed by CYA. The coaches in SYA are a coordinated group that route the best players and the marginally best players to the American teams. They constantly have the best American teams around. CYA does not. My kid plays for WF, but had to wear that damn Wildcat uniform for 4 years

-This is his staff posting here. Really the only people who call him Doc. They are insecure. That score showed their insecurity. Running up like that is BS. Onside is BS. Doc is BS. Woodson does not miss Doc. Best thing that ever happened was him leaving.

Granted, BRYC is feeding LB like shit now. But, better coaching RHS and Woodson is wining more games with the same kids. LB went deep into playoffs with the last staff. Not any more.

There's a lot of discussin on here about the decline in some FCYFL programs resulting n declines at the affiliated high schools, and while that may not be the sole reason for some declines, it is certainly a huge contributor. So, is there the high school coaches can do, either as individual schools, or as a collective group, to help the local youth programs?

Yes, HS coaches need to get more involved in the community, WS & MS level to draw the kids out. Days of 100ayer rosters are over. Camps, mentoring programs, work with youth programs etc, or do nothing and continue to see your numbers fall and program suffer. Combating negative press from past 5yrs and competing against growing competition from lax cuz parents think that is a “safe” alternative to football

Totally agree, HS coaches need to stop sitting in their Ivory Towers and get back in touch with the community and parents at elementary level and middle school level. Work with PE teachers at those schools, bring out successful kids from past years and show off those state banners (easy for Simmons). It’s all about marketing and putting a positive spin back on things.

1. Centreville (-14) @ West Potomac

- Centreville blanks West Potomac 47-0.

2. Herndon @ Falls Church (-8)
- I can see this one going either way. Ill take FC coming off a win against Marshall.

- Falls Church won and covered, 41-25.

3. Lake Braddock (-28) @ Oakton

- LB with the stomping, 65-0. Yikes.

4. Lee (-24) @ Thomas Jefferson

- Lee won and covered, 41-12.

5. Marshall (-7) @ Stuart
- Another one of those toss ups. Stuart will come out swinging at home, with 5-0 in sight.

- Nailed this one. Marshall by 7, 23-16.

6. McLean @ West Springfield (-10)

- West Sprinfield won and covered, 48-14.

7. Robinson (-20) @ Hayfield

- Hayfield over Robinson 34-27. Game winning TD with 10 seconds on the board. Incredible. I don't think Hayfield has beaten Robinson in 20+ years at the least. Great Win Hawks.

8. South County @ Madison (-12)
- Game of the week. I think Madison will cover in front of their Homecoming crowd.

9. Stone Bridge (-28) @ Potomac Falls

Stone Bridge with back to back 42-7 wins.

10. Wakefield @ Edison (-6)
- Who is worse here? I think Edison is just a little bit better than Wakefield..

- Edison won and covered, 26-6.

11. Washington-Lee @ Annandale (-6)
- Yet another toss up. 2 winless teams. I think Annandale gets it done at home.

- Annandale won 42-28 in front of their Homecoming crowd. Congrats on the first win Atoms!

12. Yorktown @ Chantilly (-3)
- How about Chantilly? Hot off a win against Battlefield, I'm taking them in an Homecoming upset.

- Yorktown won 21-13. Good to see Chantilly is playing competitive football again.

**** Westfield (-13) @ Patriot
- Westfield won 28-0. Shoutout to whoever called me out on not posting this spread in the OP. I definitely thought that game was this week.

1. Annandale @ Marshall (-9)

2. Briar Woods @ Stone Bridge (-35)
- How about a shutout Mickey?

3. Edison @ Stuart (-6)
- Looking for Stuart to get back on track with their Homecoming game.

4. Hayfield (-18) @ Mount Vernon
- MV's first real opponent. Maybe an ugly one.

5. Herndon (-6) @ Washington-Lee
- 0-10 or 1-9 for the Generals? Highly possible.

6. Lee @ Falls Church (-10)
- I'm thinking 3 in a row for the Jags.

7. National Collegiate (DC) (-20) @ Wakefield
- Why the hell is Wakefield playing these guys?

8. McLean @ Yorktown (-20)

9. Oakton @ Centreville (-40)
- Oakton has 7 total points so far this season. Wow.

10. Robinson @ Lake Braddock (-8)
- Co-game of the week. LB has had recent success against Robinson but I think it can go either way. My heart says Robinson, my head says LB...

11. South County @ Woodson (-3)
- Give me Woodson in an intriguing Homecoming upset!

12. South Lakes (-9) @ Langley

13. T.C. Williams @ West Potomac (-10)

14. Thomas Jefferson @ John Paul The Great (-10)
- Schedule TJ against Oakton, McLean, W&L, etc. next season..

15. West Springfield (-7) @ Fairfax

16. Westfield (-7) @ Madison
- Game of the week, no doubt. Westfield looking for their 30th straight win and I think they will come in extremely prepared and come away with a close win in a dog fight.

Like Herndon. Imagine how bad you hs r to be for Herndon to be favored over you.

Take Jags to win over a bad undisciplined Lee team.

SOCO lost to Cavs last year, Cavs are better this years and Stallions are worse, could be a ugly trend for SOCO. Cavs 10.

SL doing what SL does best, run it up ombad teams. SL by 28. To bad they can’t compete with good teams see CVHS score.

West PO should win.

JPTG who? Still TJ so the other guy

WSHS by 18.

Stiff test for Bulldogs but Warhawks don’t do anything particularly spectacular, fundamentally sound so are Bulldogs but slightly more explosive on offense. Bulldogs by 18.

Several SOCO players are posting their Hudl “watch my hi-lites” videos on Twitter in the MADISON game, which they lost. Seems the program still has rock star primma donnas, like Spalding last year. Program needs to go in a new direction.

It’s HS kids are playing this game for fun and rare few have chances to play next level so what’s wrong with promoting themselves, it’s an important aspect in the modern recruiting age. (Now get off my lawn, old man fist shake)

SB runs it up on their local rivals and covers.

Back to reality for Edison after three straight wins, back to cupcake city for Justice.

Expect a ton of points. Hayfield is more battle tested and wins by three touchdowns.

0-10 against a schedule with Wakefield, Annandale, Herndon, McLean, and Langley is improbable but the Generals might pull it off!

FC can score on National District teams and they cover here.

National Collegiate is way down this year but Wakefield is struggling badly. Warriors cover at home though.

Yorktown cover.

Centreville might cover by halftime.

Battle of the big slow teams. Lake Braddock in a close one.

Soco has played tougher competition and it pays off with a road win.

SL covers.

TC covers.

JP the Great with an easy cover.

Fairfax with the surprise win.

Westfield is rounding into form and wins by two scores.

Madison causes some cracks to appear in Westfield’s D, but Bulldogs win by 2 TDs.

N.B. This is just tad squirrelly for the totals because some teams have had their bye weeks and some haven't (e.g. Westfield-yes, Centreville and Madison-no).

How is Madison game planning to win against Westfield? Everyone knows that Westfield will try to get isolation with their wide out and slot receivers. They'll run their power trap until they can catch Madison off guard for a big gains/ TD. AND everyone knows they try to get a fumble recovery off a stopped runner/receiver before a play is called dead.

Will Madison follow the last 30 teams and try to throw from a spread formation knowing the Bulldogs will drop their linebackers deep to get 8 guys into coverage? If so, expect 2 INT's & another win by Westfield.

I see Madson's only chance is to run a ball control game. Run from the spread, run misdirection, run quick dive plays, isolation, pass QB run options, etc. Pass only with isolation run formations!!!

THEN, have a different look ready for the second half because the HUGE coaching staff will make corrections vs the 1st half!!! Be prepared to disguise the blitz else be ready to get burned!

WESTFIELD = 31

MADISON = 9

Book it.

Interesting everyone is predicting big scores for Westfield over Madison tomorrow...a Westfield team that is marginally worse than last year on the O/D lines and a Madison team although different isn't any better/worse all around...Madison lost at Westfield last year 10-6 saved by an excellent defensive play by Taylor Morin of a ball into the endzone at the end of the game. The game is at Madison this year. Difference will be less than a touchdown...toss a coin on who wins.

So is division 5 better? Stone Bridge crushed Madison. If WF is to 4 peat they will make quick work of Madison. If it is close what does that say?

Makes little difference because what matters is the average. Sure, total points would be different but unless a lower team beats a team with 0 or 1 losses, or one of the top 4 loses, the rankings will change very little between now and the playoffs.

Dunno... Maybe look at common opponent(s)?
- Centreville 26 South County 14
- Westfield 24 South County, 24-12
- Madison 27 South County 7
(Three very different games in terms of the flow of play)

What does that say?

Says nothing. SB needs to be focused on getting to states and then winning states. Then you can lay claim if SB is oncssme level as WHS.

Yes, the Westfield Madison game should be close. Very much doubt a blowout unless someone starts turning over the ball a lot. Anyone who thinks Madison does not have a shot at winning this game is mistaken. They are a tenacious and well coached team and will not quit. Stone Bridge outclassed them for sure but that score probably could have been a little closer-Madison had bad turnovers and special teams breakdowns. Don't think Westfield can put that much pressure on them.

>> So is division 5 better? Stone Bridge crushed Madison. If WF is to 4 peat they will make quick work of Madison. If it is close what does that say?

It will say NOTHING. Westfield eked out a 4 point win last year and 3 peated. If they hold their own and play well, win or lose, that tells you they are on track to be a tough out in the playoffs.

No, Division 5 is not better. Stone Bridge and Broad Run have great teams this year - other than those two Div 5 is DOWN this year.

So Tuscarora is out? Only SB an BR - both with ineligible players? That seems fair!

Seen a couple of Tusky games. Not as good as last year. Not impressive. Maybe now that their suspended QB is back they will start rocking.

Without Justin Allen, they are not a threat to SB or BR. Any word when he will return?

He's back. He played in their 35-7 win over Rock Ridge. That game was 7-0 at the half. Tusky had their hands full for awhile.

Playoffs just got intersecting at 5A. Probably will be the most suspenseful between 5 & 6, not a lock for SB to get in.

QB - Justin Allen adv Tusc.
OL - even between SB and THS
DL - even.
RB - adv SB Mell & Cole combo
DB - slight adv SB
Special teams - THS cuz Mickey won’t punt when he should.

Odd man out - Broad Run. Don’t bring enough to the table to compete when THS is at full strength.

Another easy prediction, even though it will be close.

T.C. 21
W.P. 17

QB out for the season & a new offense single wing / wildcat offense

Great game, that’s what high school football is all about. Both teams played hard and never quit. I must say, that was the first time in a long time that WF was outcoached. Hey Simmons, take a page out of Madison’s playbook, no huddle offense, wear your opponent down. The 2 point conversion by Madison was brilliant, they definitely played to win, WF played not to lose.

WHS o-line was simply atrocious and Keating had no answers. Won’t beat Woodbridge or OS with that kind of line play. They didn’t beat us, we just ran out of time.

I watched the SoCo Woodson game tonight, Woodson's defense is very good! Overall Woodson was the better team tonight.

It should be a good match up between Lake Braddock and Woodson next week. The winner most likely wins the conference.

LB with a dominant win over ROBO, and wtw with a good win over soco.. will be a huge game next week. If I was a betting man I’d out my money on LB.LB offense is on a roll but wtw plays stout defense. I just think too many weapons at LB. Score prediction LB 38-17 WTW

If and when they play Woodbridge or OS they won’t run that vanilla offense you saw tonight. They’ll go 4 wide, shotgun, no huddle, stuff they practice all week but never use. They are plain as can be in the regular season because that’s all they need to do to win. If I wasn’t for some atrocious FG unit execution, or lack thereof, and inept play calling in the red zone, with some phantom holding calls at the end of the game, WF would’ve won by double digits. Don’t get me wrong, Madison played their asses off but if you think WF’s offense tonight is what they’ll go to in the post season when they need to score you’re sadly mistaken.

By the way, you didn’t run out of time, your QB got sacked on 4th down to hand the back back to WF, who then ran for a first down and ran the clock out. In other words you got beat.

This game went exactly as expected. Westfield will need a slightly different game plan offensively against top tier teams. Defense continues to save the big games for them. Uncanny. Their DE Max Ahiakpo came out of nowhere with a huge game. Had at least 3 big time sacks. In the end they let up 2 scores. Not bad. But I agree with previous poster. They gonna need better play from o line to seriously contend for another title.

Stop with being such a homer. WHS o-line had no answers for Warhawks d-line and lb’s. They lived in The backfield tonight. WHS is lucky they have the QB they do otherwise they’d be 3-3. They are not special. Last year that o-line was suspect if not for Asante and Kim. WHS is not the only team that will adjust. Warhawks will be get them in the playoffs. I bet Kim will be running in his sleep tonight. I’ll give him credit, we couldn’t sack him but kept him from scoring all but one td pass. He maybe the best mobile qb I’be seen in a long time. Counts & Achrader. will get him next time.

I agree with you. Madison's defense is nothing special. Westfield offensive line just sucks.

I am sure Doc and staff will have the focus on this one, since they all came from Woodson. They know all the players and will have the game plan ready to beat Woodson.

Once again, they are showing why they are the best staff in the state

Manchester, Colonial Forge, O. Smith may all have teams that are better than Westfield. Let's see how the Bulldogs do against Centreville, then with the likely anticipated rematch vs Madison come play-off time. THEN, they have Woodbridge waiting IF they get that far... Not sure that's going to happen.

Not like that was an surprise. Madison used the same no huddle hurry up with decent success in the Stone Bridge game.

I think Woodbridge would have their hand full against this Madison team. That’s a match up I’d pay to see. The SB game, if not for some specula teams breakdowns and ints returned for a td could’ve been a different game. I don’t think AB is 3tdd better like the score indicated, just some weird turn of events during that game.

I told you all Cavs were a threat this year and would shock some people. Gonna knock LB off their perch this year! Give Doc some payback.

^^^^^ Simmons plays to win (i.e. not lose). He doesn't really care if it's by 1 point or 50. WF has 3 frickin' state championships. Madison has 0. Do you really think Simmons is going to 'take a page' from an opponent his team just beat, that has never been to the big show? Do you really think WF doesn't have a no-huddle offense that they practice? Do you really think so little of Madison and their players that a loss by 2 points at home is considered a win? Madison brought their A game. WF did enough to win. I don't see Madison being better than they played last night. WF can be better than they played last night. Advantage: Bulldogs

If I were a Warhawk fan, I'd worry much more about the upcoming game against Centreville before I was crowing about seeing the might Bulldogs again in the playoffs. Both teams have to play Centreville. This is THE rivalry for CV and WF so a great barometer game. Madison is just another district game to CV, but will be a nice measuring stick to see who is who in the Concorde. Centreville appears to be back in business this year.

What the heck happened to the Rams, are the wheels falling off? They looked O’s good early on. So sad.

Robinson didn't play anyone, Chantilly Annandale and TC are not very good. Hylton is having a down year. They lost Hayfield and Braddock. They will lose to SoCo and Woodson as well. 6-4, 5-5 is about the best they will be.

LB rolls over Robinson 38-0, like I have been saying all along Doc and staff have turned this thing around.

Look out Woodson, the LB train is ready to roll on thru!

Jump on the train or get out of the way, the BRUIN are rolling on!!!!!

So, what are & when are the key matchups for the Top Teams to grab their respective top Playoff seeds. With 4 games left, is there room for a team to make a significant move to grab a top seed?

Rams are dealing with lots of injuries now. Think they had 5-6 starters out last night and think they lost more during the game. If they can get healthy they should be okay.

This is Coach Simmons 8th season as HC at Westfield. After last night Westfield is 95 wins and 10 losses since he became HC. There were people in this forum that panned his hiring and said he was no Verbanic.

A great program lead by really great coaches! The schedule is tough for LB every year and they rally through the season.

Dads, find a way to transfer your kid into Bruin Territory but follow the rules. Doc plays clean and by the books.

The Madison/Westfield game was ugly last night. WF needs a kicker. Big hole in the team. Also, OL was pushed around all night. That needs to be fixed or they are not going far this year. So many stupid mistakes.

And, when I saw the score last night when I got home, I KNEW Dcc's assistants would be pounding their chest!
