There is NO talent at Soco. I've been a teacher there since they opened, this is the worst team ever. No college talent at all. Last ear 5-6 team had 13 players go to college, this team might have 2. They have lost to 4 teams that are 23-2 combined, and beat a Hayfield team that will go 9-1 and be the number 1 seed in that region. Soco will win the next 3 games, and the Braddock game will decide if they get into the playoffs. Bottom line, Pannoni will have them in mix in the end. Yes, let's fire him for taking an average team and get them in the playoffs.

Best coach in the state? Didn't Doc suck in his last job and didn't LB get blown out by Stone Bridge, 70-3?

You have to take out 6-0 Stone Bridge. You're forgetting they embarrassed LB, 70-3. So the team's they beat are .500.

Just FYI I was at that game and they in fact did NOT have a running clock in the second half, trust me we were in the pouring rain and all of the LB fans would have loved for it to happen but it didn't. There were also several SB players that were taking cheap shots in the second half which was completely unnecessary considering they were already beating us so badly.

Yorktown is the common opponent for LB and Woodson, both teams had wins.

LB 36-0
WTW 42-20

If WTW wins it would be an upset and embarrassing for the former staff
If LB wins they are the favorite, they are supposed to.

I think both will make the playoffs and maybe win one game then done.
Both teams are a notch below Woodbridge and Freedom.

With a loss either could still win the district
WTW still has to play WS, Robinson, Fairfax
LB still has to play Fairfax, WS, SoCO

Yes, there was a running clock. It's a VHSL rule. The refs have no choice. It is only applied in the SECOND half at any point when there is a 35 point differential.

The clock will continue to run on incomplete passes and when runners go out of bounds. In all other instances, the clock shall start and stop as it normally would.

I doubt you’re a teacher, not bwith that sentence structure and grammar. Anyways, it’s not all about talent, it’s making the best use of what you have and your current HC definitely does not do that. You still have better talent than WF, CVHS, WTW & Madison. Comes down to scheme, running a 5,9” 160lbs QB doesn’t make a lot of sense. Stupid trick plays on special teams that fool no one, etc. the list is long.

Truth. Because that program is built on more than just scoring points on the scoreboard. Coach Doc is a great man with his eyes on steering his young men. Greatness shows on places besides the scoreboard in high school athletics.

Ok I guess I was completely wrong as I sat there in the stands looking at the clock every time it stopped wondering why in fact there wasn’t a running clock and I even mentioned it to one of the other parents. But you are right VHSL rules so I must be mistaken.

Yep. You are mistaken. A running clock doesn't mean it never stops. It means it only keeps running after incomplete passes and when runners go out of bounds. Otherwise normal rules. That's why the first half took 71 minutes to play and the second half only took 37 minutes.

What kind of parent allows a child to continue doing anything after all that? Admin will be gone in the cover up or via federal investigation. Perhaps you’ve read about the handling of similar situations at LB and SOCO. That’s much worse there. Prepare for the end Tuscarora and LCPS.

The SoCo v. Hayfield rivalry is an interesting one to say the less. In just football it always seems like SoCo edges them out; I've watched their games for the past four years and they're some great games to watch. Personally I think the rivalry is underrated here (I don't blame y'all, but it's not as ancient and putrid as the current WestPo and MtV rivalry). A lot might just come from the fact that Hayfield and SoCo hate each other in almost every single facet, whether it be with faculty, student body, school clubs and programs, obviously sports, and even their parents.

It's almost equivalent with SoCo talking big at LB then always coming up short in competition.

As the name implies I live in Lorton so there is a bias. But for real, they're genuinely good games to watch.

A lot might just come from the fact that Hayfield and SoCo hate each other in almost every single facet, whether it be with faculty, student body, school clubs and programs, obviously sports, and even their parents.

When doc left, The current senior class at Woodson were sophomores. He told everybody he knew that the sophomore junior class is going to be special B87348 into type of team. Not surprising to anyone with knowledge of either program that would send is more competitive in better this year and they have been in years past . Also, last year Woodson missed the playoffs so apparently they did not get “Immediately” better...

The Woodson/LB game was very entertaining, and not settled until the end. Woodson was down by nine, drove deep into LB territory, but their drive stalled under two minutes left and they kicked the field goal. They attempted the on-side kick. That didn't work, but they were able to get the ball back with 13 second left. They did move it 20 yards, but weren't able to move it further.

I have to feel bad for one Woodson player in particular. Woodson was down 18-3 and scored a TD at 6 minutes left in the 4th to go to 18-9. On the X Point, the snap was high and Woodson couldn't convert the fire play. I feel bad for Woodson's long snapper.

I didn't get to the game until midway thru the second quarter, with LB up 8-0 at that point. Woodson fans complained about pass interferences that weren't being called. I do know that there was a controversial no call in the 4th quarter that had Woodson hot, and it led to a penalty and an ejection.

Woodson is a much better program this year and will be for the next few years. LB got worse, they went from 11-1 to 8-4 and had more talent then most teams in the region. Again, this year, they have more talent then most teams in the region and they still struggled to beat Woodson. In the past LB vs Woodson wouldn't have even been a mention anywhere, because LB would have won by 40 points.

WF over Oakton 56 - 0. WF had 49 at halftime. As usual, Simmons rested his key starters for a lot of the game and didn't go for the 80 point win like some of the chump coaches would. How many points has the Cougars scored this season? They get shut out almost every game.

WF 1st team offense played for 1 series in the 2nd qtr (FB scores on 30yd Run) Score 35-0, Simmons pulled them out at that point. Same with the defense at 28-0 Simmons started subbing in back ups then 2nd qtr all back ups. Basically WF JV beat Oakton Varsity 21-0.

Oh you mean calls like number 10 from LB helmet to helmet roughing the passer call. Number 2 from LB helmet to helmet pass interference call. Those were cheap shots by LB, both players were lucky they were not ejected.

Everyone talks about how Doc has brought this discipline accountability and class to the program, I didn't not see that from LB players last night, a number of players were yelling at the Woodson sidelines and number 3 wanted to stand in the Woodson time out area. Sorry Doc, I didn't see any teaching these players to men.

No offense intended but seeing the talent level what type of offense they are running is the least of Oakton's worries.

September 2018 enrollment numbers for the Concorde District. The biggest schools are the worst at football. Once again proving that enrollment has little if anything to do with how a football team performs on the field.

I went to the LB vs Woodson game last night, wanted to see couple of players on the LB team.

Linebacker number 10 Ahearn, has a number of offers, namely UVA.
I wasn't impressed as he was just ok in the run, but awful in pass coverage. On the screen pass for a TD he was no where to be found. Maybe he just had an off game.

Lineman number 58 McLean, he was a beast, basically un-blockable, he stuffed the run game and was around the QB all night long. Does he have any offers yet?

QB number 4 Edwards, just a sophomore, didn't have a great game, but very good in and out of the pocket, throwing on the run. Has a great future ahead of him

WR/DB number 1 James, didn't really do much besides a few punt returns

RB number 28, Dizon, had a few nice runs, a little on the small size, but very fast

QB number 15 for Woodson, came in the 2nd half and did a great job for Woodson. I understand he is just a sophomore as well. He had a great arm and very good presence.

DB/RB number 26 for Woodson was very strong runner had a few nice long runs. Basically shut down the receiver opposite him. Does he have any offers?

Difference is we schedule tough teams to prepare us and not just talk and hashtag about it. You “#builtdifferent” not to us, still the same, we Big Bro y’all always be lil’bro to us.

I went to this game also-there is a write up on Virginia Preps. The score could easily have been 44-0 and Freedom's defense shut down Woodbridge. Woodbridge did lose their starting RB for the game on the first series, but after seeing the game I am not sure that would have mattered.

Woodbridge simply could not stop the Freedom RB Brown. And Freedom lineman Fuga was manhandling everyone that got within arms reach. Those two were big time difference-makers.

LB
58 is great! Not sure what offer he will take.
2 and 3 are great players. Watch them.
4? A sophomore? Wow! I guess Stonebridge will try to recruit him to leave Coach Doc?

They’ve been training better as a team and it shows.

TJ did in fact beat Paul Public Charter out of DC 32-26 in double OT on Homecoming. Hell of a game with TJ scoring the last 20 points of the game in the fourth quarter and overtime. Smaller and slower than their opponent but found a way to get the job done.

1. Edison @ Falls Church (-10)

- Falls Church wins and covers, 49-14.

2. Fairfax @ Robinson (-9)
- Rams need to get back on track..

- Robinson blanks Fairfax 42-0.

3. Herndon (-9) @ McLean

- Herndon won and covered, 31-13.

4. Lake Braddock (-15) @ Woodson
- Game of the week. LB has had 3 straight shut-outs. The LB coach is also going back to his old stomping grounds. Intriguing match-up for sure.

- LB won 18-12. Was anyone at this game? Ugly score, perhaps turnovers, missed XPs, etc.

5. Langley @ Yorktown (-28)

- Yorktown won and covered, 35-3.

6. Madison (-25) @ Chantilly
- Lets see how the much fight the Chargers put up.

- Madison won by 23, 37-14.

7. Marshall (-20) @ George Mason
- Mason has lost to a few small schools from the mountains. Give me Marshall by 21 at least.

- Marshall dominated. 47-6.

8. Oakton @ Westfield (-40)

- Westfield won and covered, 56-0. That's 7 points in 7 games for Oakton..

9. Paul Charter (DC) (-28) @ Thomas Jefferson
- Who?

_ TJ Won!!! 32-26 in 2OT. Congrats to our future doctors and lawyers.

10. Stone Bridge (-40) @ Rock Ridge

- SB won 50-22, failed to cover. Damn SB, that's a lot of points for a lower tier Loudoun school.

11. Stuart @ Mount Vernon (-10)
- MV comes out pissed after their first loss and takes it out on Stuart in front of the Homecoming crowd.

- MV won 31-28. Closer game than I thought.

12. T.C. Williams @ Hayfield (-17)
- Co-Game of the week. Historic rivalry. Remember The Titans? Should be a lot of points in this one.

- Hayfield won and covered, 59-37.

13. Wakefield @ Lee (-6)

- Lee won and covered, 35-19.

14. Washington-Lee @ South Lakes (-10)

- SL won and covered, 39-0.

15. West Potomac (-10) @ Annandale

- Annandale won 30-16. I know WP lost their QB for the season due to injury, but I didn't think it would have this big of an effect on WP..

16. West Springfield @ South County (-7)
- SoCo is 2-4. Wow, what a fall off. Is Pannoni on the hot seat yet? Must win for the Stallions.

- SoCo won and covered, 35-10. They needed this one bad.

1. Centreville (-3) @ Westfield
- Taking Centreville in a close one. Game of the year, no doubt about it. Centreville, on a bye week had extra time to prep. Back to back shut outs as well. 31 in a row for Westfield, it has to end sometime, and I think it'll end this Friday night.

2. Chantilly (-24) @ Oakton
- Oakton should get some points in this one..

3. Fairfax @ Lake Braddock (-21)

4. Falls Church (-13) @ Wakefield
- FC looking to make it 5 in a row. They'll be in for a rude awakening come playoff time.

5. Hayfield (-24) @ West Potomac

6. Langley (-6) @ Washington-Lee
- Really bad football here...

7. Lee @ Marshall (-21)
- Another team in for a rude awakening in the playoffs.

8. Mount Vernon (-10) @ Annandale

9. South County @ Robinson (-8)
- Co-Game of the week. This is an intriguing match-up to me. We'll see what happens.

10. South Lakes (-20) @ McLean

11. Stuart (-24) @ Thomas Jefferson
- Stuart might lose 2 games, then lose by 40 in the 1st round of the playoffs.

12. T.C. Williams (-21) @ Edison

13. Tuscarora @ Stone Bridge (-17)
- Tusky has given SB problems in the past, but they have their own problems to deal with within their own locker room.

14. Woodson (-21) @ West Springfield

15. Yorktown (-15) @ Herndon

I hope SB thinks Tuscarora is too busy with locker room problems and does not give this team the prep so they can be totally shook!

No probs in the locker rooms at Tusky for the general population - the event, which occurred well after normal practice locker room time - included 1 victim; 1 assailant and 2 people holding victim down. All but the victim have been removed from school and team, its business as usual with the victim leading the march to return to normalcy and focus!

Exciting to see these two meeting undefeated once again. Don't think the extra week of prep will be of any advantage as Westfield had Oakton on Friday. So I do think Centreville matches up pretty well against Westfield and if not for one thing I would agree with your call. That one thing is the Westfield QB. If he has a good game that's a big edge to Westfield. I think Westfield by at least +10.

Time for Concorde to start sorting itself out, starting this week. The WF/CV game is the key. This game will set the pecking order for the district. Expect WF to play motivated in their own house. This is a statement game, especially for CV if they can pull off a win.

Oakton gets their 2nd td of the season, question is will they break double digits? Oakton QB needs to stop helping opponents out by throwing pick 6’s.

On Sept. 22, Fairfax beat Annandale 15-8. That was the last time they won and the last time they will win a game until next year. Given what Robo did to Fairfax and what LB did to Robo, this spread is not nearly enough. LB wins and covers.

Let's see if someone can breakdown the Centreville vs Westfield game without the usual common opponent comparison?

Breakdown: cv is better on D this year. They are solid against the run.Cats need to stop the anemic WF rushing attack with 6 (or 7 vs 2 tite)men. This will allow an extra DB in c I verage.
WF throws the ball exceptionally well. CV might want to steal a page from the Madison playbook and man up Woodley. If they have a man who can lock hioom up then WF must rely on Morin, who along with Asante is a 2 way player. If CV allows the QB to set his feet and throw on schedule they will lose. They must get to Noah Kim without manning everyone- every play.
CV is a better balanced O.The run game is solid and the Pass game is adequate. They must run right at WF and get behind their giant center.WF is smaller at the 3 and 1 techniques. CV cannot win if they cannot establish the run with play action. They are not a pro style offense.CV must create turnovers and play field position. They must be ready for the WF BRAIN fart.
Here is the breakdown.CV has a better OL and is equal with the D front. WF has a more disciplined secondary so they get the nod there. The skills for WF are much better than the CV players. Special teams is an edge to WF.
It all come down to mistakes and special teams. The team that wins here wins the game. That said if CV does not get pressure and can't take away Morin and Woodley it could be a a blowout. CV cannot blow out WF.Haddock needs to dust off his screen and draw package. Any further questions

You left out one of the most important differences: coaching. Haddock simply can not think outside his own little box. Simmons can adjust. Talent-wise, both teams are probably close (haven't seen CV this year but they seem to match up on paper well with WF, who I've seen @ all their home games). Simmons has gotten inside Haddock's head. That might make the difference.

Jaquan Price up the middle and Jordan Wright/Anthony Ramos to the edges. Yes, Centreville has a better OLine than Westfield but that's not saying much. Westfield front might be small but they have performed adequate in match-ups against much larger opponents. Centreville will get yardage but it's not going to be easy.

Westfield had strange strategy against Madison with Woodley. Throw to him when Finney is man. When he is man against a kid a foot shorter they didn't go him at all.

Kim is pretty used to running for his life at this point. Might as well have him rolling out and throwing on the move right from the get go.

Mistakes. this year's westfield team has made more special teams mistakes and penalties than i think ever before.

A lot keeps being said about WF oline being small but CVHS is smaller than WF’s. I wouldn’t be so quick to give CVHS the nod.

Wow Oakton coach on Ffxu venting. Not a good look coach, we know you regret coming over but you didn’t help yourself by running a wishbone in hs also alienating all the good players and making some leave cuz you’re a jerk. Take ownership and improve yourself as a coach but too bad you have 1 foot out the door, maybe new guy will do better (can’t do worse) next season.

Stone Bridge is out for revenge for last year's upset in Regional Finals, and it looks like they will get it. 20 point win or more is a possibility.

Tuscarora has been out of control, on and off the field, since the season began. Burnett was a tool, but he could coach and he could contain the behavior.

Tusky is once again big and strong up front, but their lineman have gotten out of shape. Their quarterback is back, but the sub they had all year was almost the same player. Allen can scramble and make things happen, but Tusky's lack of talent at the other skill positions is alarming.

New coach is on very thin ice. Fear of losing your job has to make it difficult to concentrate. He doesn't make adjustments (see 2nd half no-shows against Broad Run and Woodgrove) and quarterback is allowed to do whatever he wants, which is to make himself look as good as possible.

Stone Bridge's recruits have definitely tipped this one in their favor, although rumor has it that their top CB is out with broken arm or wrist.

Bulldogs roll tonight, edge out Broad Run twice in the region (although not a given). If they get past Massaponex, Thompson once again gets smacked down against Highland Springs in the finals.

No one in the state can beat Highland Springs this year (or next). And please don't give me that Westfield crap. They were approached by Highland Springs to play but would never take up that challenge in a million years.

Funny, I keep seeing people spouting off about how Highland Springs wanted to play Westfield but Simmons backed out. When exactly was this game supposed to take place? The week after last season’s state championships? Sure couldn’t have been a regular season game since the schedules aren’t controlled by the coaches. Not to mention that the schedule was already set for this season.

It’s laughable as well as idiotic to think Simmons would shy away from any team. You’re talking about a coach who schedules pre-season match ups every year with Dematha and typically another top tier school. The last few years it’s been Quince Orchard, before that, LC Bird. So it’s not like Simmons is shy about facing tough teams, pre, regular, or post season.

Oh yeah, and this year, in addition to Dematha and Quince Orchard, Simmons scheduled St. John’s. So tell me something Loudon county Football Fan since you seem to think you know so much. Why would Simmons schedule the toughest high school team in the area but was too scared to play a Highland Springs team that had as much of a chance to beat Westfield as Oscar Smith, with all their D1 recruits the past 3 seasons.

St Johns would beat Highland Springs, Oscar Smith, your beloved Stone Bridge, and pretty much every other local public school by at least 3 TD’s. So please stop spreading rumors that have no truth and are laughable given Simmons history of playing quality opponents every chance he can get.

Sorry, no team is unbeatable. What many people can't seem to grasp is EVERYONE wants a piece of Westfield. And EVERYONE always spouts the same mantra about Westfield not wanting to play them when they don't get the game. Hear it almost every year from someone.

Westfield has 3 goals 1) District Championship 2) Region Championship 3) State Championship.

They have no interest becoming a Nationally ranked team, no interest in scheduling games to "prove" who's better than who, no interest in running up scores, no interest in recruiting a bunch of kids to build a super team. Sure it would fun to see Westfield-Stone Bridge and Westfield-Highland Springs and Westfield-Oscar Smith and Westfield-Ocean Lakes and Westfield-Tuscarora every season. That's just not going to happen.

Oakton (0-7, 0-2)
L, Battlefield, 0-44
L, West Springfield, 0-37
L, South Lakes, 0-60
L, Langley, 7-42
L, Lake Braddock, 0-65
L, Centreville, 0-56
L, Westfield, 0-56

Oakton has scored only once all year, and that is against a team (Langley) that
is otherwise winless themselves. Yet, Langley was able to beat Oakton by 35.
Not piling on the kids there but how can any school in Fairfax County, save TJ, be this bad? Even when Chantilly went 0-10 last year, they were at least competitive and scored once in a while.

Simmons won't schedule DeMatha, St John's or Highland Springs during the regular season because he's afraid of how getting torn to shreds will affect his season record and his precious playoff seedings. Additionally, saw what Gonzaga did to Centreville a couple of years ago.

The last thing Simmons wants, is to lose a couple of games per year and start seeing the area top level kids heading back over to play at Centreville or South County again.

You sir are either a LOCO or PWCO troll that knows nothing you f’n imbecile. There’s no transfers and as other posters have put it succinctly, no reason to schedule HS or WCAC esp cuz they get nothing out of it. But obviously you are too dumb to understand that. No other public schools schedules WCAC or MD schools year in and year out like WF does so obviously not worried or scared about Gavin them.

"No other public schools schedules WCAC or MD schools year in and year out like WF does."

What the fuck are you talking about? He never schedules ANY WCAC schools. Ever.

I can't wait until they are knocked out of the playoffs early this year.

They are the not even in the Top 5 in NOVA this year.

Don Shula, George Halas, Knute Rockne, Nick Saban, and Mickey Thompson will also
be in attendance.

Mickey is scouting fior next year after Westfield gets smoked in the playoffs and all the rats look to desert this sinking, dixie cup laden ship.

WHY would Westfield want to schedule a regular season game against WCAC or any team on the other side of the state? What possible benefit would there be? The answer is absolutely none. This discussion about afraid etc is just stupid.

Public school teams that recruit and chase after national rankings can find that things can backfire on you. Take for example the monster recruiting school in Sacramento - Folsom. Their public school league opponents are trying to get them kicked out their league and force them to play an independent schedule.

Why would he want to schedule difficult teams who could offer challenges to his team and staff?

Hmm, I don't know.

According to your way of thinking, they should try and schedule teams like Thomas Jefferson and Osbourne Park for non-conference schedule.

You, Sir, are retarded.

You make me so angry that I want to give your wife a Dirty Sanchez or a Bucking Bronco.

Stone bridge scrimmages fucking Yorktown every year LOL. I’m also sure if ESPNU came to Westfield and said we’ll put you on Tv against a WCAC or an out of state powerhouse, Simmons says “yes let’s do it”

Not the question that was asked - you changed it. Westfield always ranks among the tougher VHSL schedules by any objective standard. Go look at the strength of schedule over the years on VHSL Reference or Calpreps.

All squabbling aside - two darn good games for tonight. Between Centreville and Westfield they have been to the last five Class 6 finals winning four of them. Between Stone Bridge and Tuscarora they have appeared in four of the last five Class 5 finals. That's 9 state final appearances in the last 5 seasons among these four teams.

I just wish Centreville, Woodbridge, Madison, anybody would get enough coaches with the same side deals for the Westfield's coaches. Then, things might be on a level playing field. Let's get a few losses on that coaching staff & see how quick they'll scatter like roaches when the lights are turned on in their kitchens.

Go away, you foolish child/idiot/troll. You really have zero comprehension for how high school coaching works. Hint: IT AIN'T THE MONEY!

"Damn it!" "Westfield's coaches are too good!" "It's not fair!" That's a new theme showing up this year. Not a good look. Stupid.

Used to be bitching about how they were too big a school. Now that they are behind a goodly number of schools in enrollment you don't hear that one too often anymore.

Pretty sure you're the dumbass. No local public high school, not even the great almighty Stone Bridge, schedules regular season games against WCAC schools. There would be no point, especially with the way the VHSL point system works. The only reason Centreville-Gonzaga game took place a few years ago was because Centreville had one of the best public high schools teams in the country, yes, they were nationally ranked.

Westfield may be knocked out of the playoffs this year, but it certainly won't be early. In their group there are basically 3 schools, Westfield, Centreville, and Madison. After that it's basically the Little Sisters of the Poor. The whole 6A North region is down this year with the exception of those 3 schools.

Most idiotic statement was the last, not even in the top 5 of NOVA teams. That sir wins you the dumbass of this thread award! I'll give you Stone Bridge might be better, but the same thing was said the past 3 seasons about Oscar Smith.
