Bulldogs absolutely annihilates West Springfield 62-21 wasn’t even that close as 2 of WSHS tds were scored against back ups, coincidence or Simmons or someone on his coaching staff is all over the FU and told him about what was being said.

You forget - also we are the best at head coaches. We are concerned about trying to win with one like all other teams so we have 17 of them. No matter that this is high school athletics. Go Westfield.

Left at start of the second half...it was 41-14 (hell I don't remember)...just know Spartans were getting their teeth kicked in

I work at WS and even I knew we were gonna lose bad. Have FB players in class and they get hyped about being 3-0, going into this one...and I'm like yea 3-0 against shit teams (one which they beat in double OT)

I see WS going 5-5 at best (losses to LB, Robo, SoCo...those just were losses when the schedule came out let's be honest).

Probably can beat McLean next week for HoCo...should probably honestly beat Fairfax as well and really depends with Woodson

The truth about WS Football is the kids that play give it there best and the coaches I believe game plan with what they have but plain and simple...the Spartans are small and mildly quick. And then works when they play Lee, W&L, slightly lower tier teams but when they get into the meat...they just don't have bodies and mass this year to compete against LB, Robo, SoCo, Westfield, etc.

I think the culture is strong and desire to play well and do well is strong among the players and the coaches...fans are out there giving support but it's just hard to be overcome a lack of size and depth in this region plain and simple

Anyway, I see them going probably 5-5 (maybe 6-4 at best)...they were 5-5 last year and that was honestly not surprising when you reflect back on the way the schedule was built they were 4-0 or 5-0 going into the SoCo game and then got wrecked and then played better teams and got brought back to Earth

Just like that LB is back!! 36-0 over Yorktown.
The staff has this team primed and ready to march right thru the playoffs.

We are looking forward to meeting Westfield again, this time it will be different.

Chadroc, put down your crack pipe and sober up. Pre-game celebrations are for jackasses. So you have your cage, your smoke, your lame song, then OS goes out and pummels some poor 3,4,or 5A school and a few 6A schools. How’s that worked for you the past few years. You lose the championship to a less athletic but better prepared and coached Westfield team. Nice top ten list too, guess we’ll se how that ends up. But as the poster above stated, stick to your ore-game fun, WF enjoys going home with the jewelry!

Chantilly over Battlefield 27-6.
South County over Hayfield 36-6.
Centreville over South Lakes 45-8.

Taylor Morin was missing in action at WR the previous 2 games it felt like but that kid absolutely destroyed the WS secondary. Almost 300 receiving yards and 4 long touchdowns! It's been a while since Westfield has had a QB/WR combo this lethal. The younger RB has also been filling in nicely. There were some questions about the line on both sides but the O-Line seems big and solid. Defense looks good as always and the coaching staff is as great as ever! Westfield is THE team to beat this year. An earlier poster mentioned how they were going to kind of fall of after this year but that is basically said every year. The class of '20 & '21 look lethal. Especially '21. And don't forget that Noah Kim is still just a junior. One benefit that this team has that the previous Westfield teams didn't is an explosive offense. Believe it or not most of the play calls against WS were pretty conservative. Most of Morin's TDs were screens or short passes. Another added advantage is that Westfield's starting line up was really different from the start of the season than it was at the end of the season due to a vast amount of injuries. This years team looks healthy for the most part and if they can maintain this and continue to trend upward like they do every year then they will be very hard to stop later in the season. As a Westfield fan I really wish Stone Bridge was scheduled this year so they could have more than 2 real challenges in the regular season.

WF is always the team to beat. They’ve won 20 in a row I believe. Centreville & Madison will challenge them

You have a fair assessment although I hope you don't share quite that bluntly with your class. West Springfield has decent coaching and decent community support. It could be a good football school. Just need to have good class of kids or a superstar or two come along and a playoff season would be in reach.

Not sure they would be "back" without that running back. Man, that kid is really good. He won the game all by himself, offense and defense. He scored all Falls Church touchdowns, and shut down our passing game on defense. Wow. Just wow.

I am disappointed in how dirty our boys played last night. They've been more and more "aggressive" each game, but last night I just felt they played dirty, and as a long time Statesman fan, I was a little embarrassed. Can't help but feel the coach is a bad fit.

It’s time someone forced the adults in these programs to focus on sportsmanship instead of recruiting. The Stonebridge trainers and DSA were not hospitable to our visiting team. Has anyone visited SB and been treated with respect? Adults not doing the right things make the whole program look bad. So many players transferred in to SB and playing under a head coach and his two sons? Many things are just plain wrong there. An investigation is necessary plus a forfeit of all games won with ineligible players. Those practices will kill football as a high school sport.

I am a little confused. I thought LB lost #6 to South County. Who went to Woodbridge. Good thing Doc had the year to coach them up ant the LB staff was able to win last nights game. They lost a player to Hayfield, SoCo and Woodbridge, the best staff in the state, Hell, the whole world it you believe this board may need to take to the field soon and not only coach them up, but play for LB too. On the bright side, if the coaches have to step up and play they will have the biggest line in HS football. There are some Tubbies on the sideline at LB

And there is another one sitting behind him waiting. Marcus was the fastest kid in SYA by far and almost impossible to bring down just by hitting him. WF is loaded at skill positions offensively for at least one more year. Noah Kim is the real deal. Smart, quick and a good (but not great) arm. With his receivers and backs, the mighty bulldogs are going to be very tough to beat.

Stone Bridge is disgraceful. Say what you want, that kind of program is killing the sport as a whole. The investigation will reveal all improprieties there and all those boys who thought they were going places will be stunned.

Doc is the real deal. Win or lose, he and his team get it. It’s football plus a culture of greatness like no where else. That’s where the whole “best in the state” comes from. I wish my kid has played for Doc.

I thought to be the best the you needed to win some hardware in Dec but I see you’re from the “everyone gets a participation” culture. LB is far from being the best in the state despite all the talent that you have in that school.

That's really funny, Culture of greatness?, Name one great thing that this staff has done? The only atmosphere that's been created at LB is that of mediocracy is ok, everyone gets rewarded. That's not teaching life lessons, everyone is the real world knows everyone is not rewarded.

A lot of the players on the team dont want to play for him, but you want your kid to play for him. 4-5 players transferred and a few others wanted to quit after SB. Dont come on here with that its all a bed of roses at LB, it isn't.

Morin and Woodley are arguably the best WR duo in the state.

Daniels has been doing OK. He is pretty decent at running between the tackles but he isn't showing the speed in the open that I heard he had.

It's OK. But they aren't really that big. Shifting Newborn to the offensive line has made a big difference in the run game.

No. They don't look as good as always. Sideline pursuit is lacking. Backfield getting beat on a regular basis every game. Mental breakdowns happening a lot. Still missing a lot of tackles. And overall they are small. Maybe once (or if) Dishun is healthy that will shore things up a little but I am very interested to see how they hold up against Madison and Centreville. Patriot won't be an easy game but they are just not the same team at all without Giwa and Onwuka.

Don't know about this. We'll see. But I was very impressed with Westfield freshman team. 2022 should be a good year.

They need to run him a little more. He's quick and elusive. I think it would help get him into the flow of games with a little more running. Too often looks sluggish. Delay of game penalties lately. Pace lacking.

They got some injuries and some kids playing with injuries. Everyone does. West Springfield is the weakest team they will play other than Oakton. Of course they looked good (no offense to WS intended).

Players have not threatened to quit at LB. Nor have any decent players transferred. Idiot. The one player who might have been good follows his dad around the area seeking max playing time. Delusional situation. I work with a player’s dad and hear all about it.

NFL players who were coached under Doc are often seen on the sidelines at games and practices. Plenty of young people are nurtured in his program so I guess that’s you saying participation trophies are given there. They will continue to grow making a fool out of you for saying that. Did any other HS program show out at homecoming behind a person struggling with a cancer diagnosis? How about helmet decals for this small person fighting cancer? Seems like a win right there to me.

When your players leave high school, let me guess? They’re gone. Not Doc’s kids. My son told me about his follow up calls and support. We don’t get that at our school.

Westfield's SO RB Marcus is very fast, but unless he puts on a lot more weight and gets significantly stronger he will not accomplish much at the varsity level. More often than not he goes down at first contact because he is just so small. Not knocking the kid because he obviously has heart and speed, but sometimes genetics will limit what you can do.

The transfer was a starter on D-line last year for Westfield. Word has it he moved because a little bird was in his ear saying that he had D1 talent, someone else disagreed with that and word got back to him - so he left.

Dade won't run out of tackles and he is small, but you can't just push him down. You have to tackle him and to do that, you have to be able to be in front of him and square up. Because you aren't going to catch him from behind and you're not going to just one-arm him at his shoulders when he jukes around you. He's obviously not unstoppable, but you can't let him through the line because he'll be really hard to hit once he gets through. Should be pretty awesome on sweeps and pitches.

Docs coaching staff members are at work right now. They’re all together at practice right now. So suck it. Here’s your proof that posts here aren’t from his staff. He knows what he’s doing. Wait for Westfield to be punished for bad behavior amongst their team and Stone Bridge to be disqualified to compete with all those ineligible players. That leaves Doc’s Bruins left standing. Your lax team won States this year don’t cry that you don’t have talent in the school. The good schools adapt to the changing demographics. Look at Centreville, Woodson, Lake Braddock, Falls Church and Westfields. They have every year more and more Asians (contributing significantly) Mexican, kids from non-traditional football playing cultures and they are doing just fine. Oakton, being the elitist snobs they are failed to be inclusive and now you’re paying for it. Also look at the youth clubs that feed into the hs, those schools that are doing well have the diversity that starts at the youth level. Not sure VYI has that.

Heard they were caught driving to the game. Heard it was a few LAX players and one particular one squealed like the little pig that he is. Heard a WF kid literally had to be carried out. I wonder if the rat will be shunned? I hope regardless who their parents are and what their parents do, a harsher punishment than not being allowed to go to HoCo will be given.

Last week I said Justice might end up as the worst 8-2 team in VHSL history. After Marshall's loss to Falls Church, they also have a shot at being the worst 9-1 team. I'll stick with Marshall one more week and pick them to cover.

Didn't pick Westfield @ Patriot? Westfield defense seems a little suspect. I am hearing rumblings from some folks that this could be an upset. Patriot nearly pulled off an upset of a very strong Colonial Forge team.

Patriot has a good Sr QB and they can go deep especially since they don’t hand much of a running game. If there is any weakness on Bulldogs defense that is their pass defense. They have consistently gotten torched every game this season (and last season too) with the long ball. Patriot has a big talk WR that can take the top off the defense (6’4-5” maybe) and no one in the secondary can match up with him, he could be a match up nightmare. I’d go deep to him every chance I get. Closer game than you think for 3qtrs.

That's odd. Everyone on this board has been saying their run defense is terrible and the way to beat Westfield is to run run run.

...Run, run, run...to chew through the clock and not let the Westfield offense on the field. Not that their run defense is particularly bad (though they had a few guys graduate last year). You don't want your defense on the field all night against that offensive group.

Patriot better cut down on their turnovers to have a chance. If they play against Westfield like they played against TCW it'll be over by halftime.

WHS Run defense has been stout and a strength so far this season. Kept teams out of 2nd & short. Look at the game stats. Where they are vulnerable is db & safety. WSHS SOCO LB SJHS tds came from beating them down field with the long pass

Yep, that’s a pretty accurate statement, run defense has been their strength on D so far, that and pressuring the opponents QB. I’m wondering when WF’s LB Dishun(#9) is coming back, he will certainly help that D be even more stout against the run. WF hasn’t really opened their offense up yet, last week wasn’t it, couple short passes to Morin that turned into big gains and TD’s. I think the only way that WF loses is if they beat themselves. Even with the handful of big pass played they’ve given up on D, their offense is pretty unstoppable when they don’t make mistakes. Kinda hard to cover all those weapons on every play, Kim is definitely one of the best QB’s in the region, just wonder how good the O could be if they put the pedal down all game and stopped being so conservative.

You can thank Jason Rowley and company for tanking that program. Had one good fluke season there.
