So you are telling me this kid played both ways for Lake Braddock against Westfield, Woodbridge HC was at the game, and now he has transferred to Woodbridge?

Nah, it's true. His Hudl account shows his highlights against Wstfield but lists his high school as Woodbridge.

VHSL has ZERO enforcement authority at all!!!! Only the school board via district level. VHSL is only a foundation that organizes HS sports, period. A school has to initiate a formal complaint and the AD/Principal has to decide whether the complaint is valid or to further investigate the matter.

So unless someone or a school wants to pay a private investigator to prove there is violation & develop verified evidence, nothing is going to happen!!!! The liberal view on this would to create new rules, but no one enforces the current rules.

IMHO,unless the High School Association for Coaches decides to police this matter within their own ranks, recruiting will never stop. If a coach could lose their certification and then likely their ability to coach again, then nothing would happen. Coaches of the club & 7 on 7 teams should all be put to the same standard.

The coaches create the problem & they would fix it IF their jobs required that they had to.

WB coach was there for sure.

I saw a SOCO player go into the porta potty in full uniform.

When he came out he was in a Woodbridge uniform. He hopped into the WB coaches truck and the two of them sped away!

Why in the world did local news WUSA channel 9 spotlight Langley v McLean football game on their 11pm hour? There’s so many more better games to show. I live near the school and my nephew attends and plays on the team and I still won’t go to see that dumpster fire. I’d rather watch WNBA playoffs or MLS.

All it took was one bad loss and the boo-birds are back out at Chantilly. Parents bitching left and right about coaches, their schemes and their choices for who is playing what position. Such loser mentality, they will never be good as long as these parents keep interfering the way they do.

Watched WP/LB game....Both of their QBs are legit. LB QB Edwards is a sophomore and is going to be really good. He did not miss on any deep shots he took. Not sure we learned much about either team as they both appears to be figuring themselves out. LB will score points for sure. If WP can stop blowing coverages themay be pretty decent. WP QB is as really dynamic dual threat which might just keep them in games. I think both teams are really young.

I think we can all agree that the Westfield Bulldogs are an offensive powerhouse and are the odds on favorites to win another state championship. My kid's a senior and will have not have known high school football other than winning it all. If it wasn't for the fact that the deadskins suck every year, he might not know what losing looks like.

LB with the win over West Potomac 50-28

Now I think everyone will see what that year under Doc's preparation is all about.

They scored 50 points in the last, he has developed a young QB and speedy receivers that can not be stopped.

Look for them to throw the ball all over a slow Stone Bridge team.

They had a slow start with Westfield, but I am sure Westfield is not looking forward to playing LB again

Everyone can now clearly see the Bruins are the team to beat.

No on said they were ready for prime time. The final result was as expected, though Madison was a 35 point favorite and couldn't cover that spread. You'd also do well to remember that not so many years ago, Madison was 1-9. These things come in cycles, and Fairfax will have its turn.

FHS will have a new nickname before they become relevant again. FPYC program is horrible and participation is at an all time low. Now if you want to talk soccer or b-ball yes they are solid.

Score was 41-0 at half time dumbass. They pulled all the starters and played 2nd & 3rd string and then some freshman and AB kids in the 4th, otherwise you wouldn’t have scored. Your QB is touted as Mr USA Football, guess if you pay enough money you can play any position or any organization.

Is this a joke? Woodbridge maybe... but Freedom? Barely a top 10 team. Until someone knocks off Westfield they are #1. Centreville above South County and probably Madison. Robinson above Woodson, West Springfield and Hayfield.

This is obviously a Woodbridge coach or a WF hater. The Bulldogs have won 3 straight state championships. Over that time have won 26 in a row. Their offense is explosive, Simmons just needs to stop being so conservative. Until Westfield loses they are #1, no sensible arguement can be made. It says a lot about their program that the Woodbridge coaching staff has been to see both WF’s first two games. In the end, you can recruit all the talent you want, it rarely beats culture or coaching. Good luck Vikings, you’ll need it!!

Yes Bulldogs PAST accomplishments are quite the legacy but we are talking about the present and comparing the 2 rosters, Vikings are wayyyyy more talented. WHS has 1 D1 power 5 conf kid, Vikings, up & down the roster. So presently, nod goes to Vikings and who knows come playoff time maybe they’ll have a rematch of last year and settle this once and for all.

Wait until playoffs come and LB has won 9 games in a row and has a full head of steam under Doc. You can tell everyone you heard it hear first

They have a young QB who will have a record breaking year and gaining confidence every week.

Senior RB and KR one of the best in state.
3 senior receivers who might be the best in the state.
A few big offensive linemen who have college offers
Division 1 college player at LB

All have been developed under Doc and staff so they will be ready for the playoffs.

Jump on the Bruins train now because it will be coming full speed ahead in the coming weeks

So what happened against WHS, look like the train didn’t even leave the station.
Stone Bridge & Madison gonna whoop dat Bruin ass! You obviously didn’t see
What the Warhawks did to the last Sophomore QB they faced. SoCo & WTW and possibly WSHS gonna get I’m on that action. Last thing LB coaches, players,
Parents want to see at the end of that long tunnel and barreling towards them is the Vikings. That beat down will be even worse the 2nd go around.

It is insane how much love you’re showing Woodson. They haven’t beaten anyone with talent yet. This SLHS sucks, and Annandale is TERRIBLE. I keep seeing them on all these top 10 in NOVA lists and that’s truly mind blowing. They’re the number 4 team in their own conference after LB/Soco and then ROBO

WTW beat a SL team that shutout Falls Church and WTW did that with their back up QB. They are a playoff team. Not saying they are great. They have a lot of seniors in the right positions. I say they make it 2nd rd of playoffs, quite possibly 3rd if they have the right match up. They beat SoCo last year probably will do it again this year and beat LB this year,’both those teams are not as good this year. Def beating FHS (they just flat out stink). Beat WSHS, probably lose to Robo, btw not convinced QB that pulls dble as DE will make it all season, doesn’t seem that smart to expose him like that, if he’s out I’ll take my chances with WTW.

Very weird week for sure. Some games had to be called early in the 3rd or 4th quarter, some had to be put on hold and finished Saturday morning and some had no delays at all!

1. Annandale @ Woodson (-17)

- Woodson won and covered. Annandale might win only 2 or 3 games this year.

2. John Champe @ Centreville (-14)
- Centreville gets revenge at home from last year's loss.

- Nailed it. Centreville won 14-0. (No delays)

3. Chantilly @ Robinson (-21)
- 2 teams that, from the looks of it, have improved from last year. Robinson is just too physical for Chantilly. 10 years ago this would have been game of the week.

- Robinson won and covered.

4. Falls Church @ South Lakes (-7)
- I don't know what to think of this one...

- South Lakes won and covered. Shut out Falls Church.

5. Hayfield (-35) @ Edison
- MTV scored 35 1st quarter points on Edison. Gotta believe Hayfield is capable of the same.

- Nailed this one too. Hayfield won 35-0. Game was called mid 3rd quarter.

6. Herndon @ Lee (-7)

- Herndon won 17-12.

7. Madison (-35) @ Fairfax.
- Old SL coach faces his first ass beating.

- Madison won 41-7. Missed this one by a point! (C'mon kicker!!! Lol)

8. McLean @ Marshall (-6)

- Marshall won and covered.

9. Mount Vernon (-30) @ Langley

- MV won 28-21. Langley played them tough.

10. South County @ Westfield (-9)
- Game of the week. Any thoughts y'all?

- Westfield won 24-12. Game had to be resumed Saturday morning, don't know which team it benefited more.

11. Loudoun Valley @ Stone Bridge (-30)

- Stone Bridge won and covered.

12. James Wood @ Stuart (-28)
- James Wood takes Park View's place. Small school from the mountains I believe. Stuart, excuse me, "Justice" wins easy.

- Stuart won 28-21. They were down 3 quarters, by 3 touchdowns at one point. Good come from behind win.

13. T.C. Williams (-28) @ Gar-Field
- As stated earlier in this fourm. PW schools are very top heavy. Gar-Field is at the bottom.

- TC won but did not cover.

14. Thomas Jefferson @ George Mason (-25)
- Does TJ get a win this year? I remember when they were in the same district as Stone Bridge...

- Mason won and covered.

15. Washington-Lee @ Wakefield (-6)

- Wakefield won and covered.

16. West Potomac @ Lake Braddock (-10)
- Also could've been game of the week. I think LB gets revenge at home this year, but I can see it going either way. My head is telling me Braddock, though.

- Lake braddock won big and covered. Good showing for the Bruins. What's the deal with the kid that transferred to Woodbridge?

17. West Springfield (-7) @ Oakton

- West Springfield won and covered. Oakton has yet to score any points this year..

18. Wilson (DC) @ Yorktown (-10)
- Annual Yorktown home opener against a DC school.

- Wilson won 37-29.

Not as many games this week as some schools have a bye week, but man the games are going to be close, and I mean the majority of them. (Even with the lower tier schools!)

1. Robinson (-28) @ Annandale.

2. Centreville (-10) @ South County.
- Game of the week in my opinion. The Wildcats look like the real deal and they have a chance to further prove it this week.

3. Chantilly @ Herndon (-6)
- This one could go either way. Will Chantilly win or lose their 16th straight?

4. Lee @ Fairfax (-10)
- Another one that could go either way. I think the coaching at Fairfax is better and the home field advantage combined will be the difference.

5. Mount Vernon (-24) @ Falls Church.

6. Lake Braddock @ Stone Bridge (-21)
- Spread could've been higher. Have fun in Ashburn boys..

7. Woodson (-7) @ Langley
- Could also go either way.

8. West Potomac @ Madison (-17)

9. Oakton @ South Lakes (-10)
- Will Oakton get their first points this week?

10. Tuscarora (-18) @ T.C. Williams

11. Wakefield @ Yorktown (-7)
- I wanted to go with Wakefield, but I have never seen them beat Yorktown.

12. West Springfield (-10) @ Washington-Lee

I guess being gracious in victory isn't a strong suit for Madison supporters.

Still not buying on Wildcats. Take Stalions -10, they are a different team at home.

Close game. Chargers in a close one. -3

Rebels are very unathleic. If Lee can get to Soph QB early and often, they win going away. Lee -7.

MTV -24. Boy what a let down by Jags. Gonna be a long season

LB gets owned by another Bulldogs team. SB -24

WTW -17. People need to wake up and see Cavs are good this year.

Warhawks well rested after drubbing Rebels, will easily dispatch WPO by -18

Yorktown by -14

WSHS by -28. Offense is clicking.

If WTW makes it into the playoffs, they will draw someone good and get beaten soundly in round 1. I don’t think WTW can count on SoCo turning the ball over 6 times again like they did last year. Braddock and Robo with both beat WTW soundly. Robo can beat you without their qb, but I have a hard time believing he is playing defensive line also. Sounds like your facts are about as accurate as predictions.

Who has Robinson played? A Hylton team who is on a down year and Chantilly!
Who has Braddock played Westfield waxed them and they beat a young West
Potomac team
Who has SoCo Played? They beat Langley and lost to Westfield
Who has WTW played? They beat SL who is on a down year and Annandale

I think Woodson is better then what people think. They have a young QB who has done well, very good RB and some pretty good receivers. The defense is very good. Now I dont know if they can beat Braddock SoCo and Robinson, but it is way to early to count any team out.

Okay, so I don't mean to offend you but the past 3 Oscar Smith teams had WAY more individual talent than the current Woodbridge roster, also the 3 Westfield teams they LOST to in the state championships. My point was, it doesn't take the team with the best players to be the best team, it's the team that plays the best together as a unit. That's culture and coaching, both of which Woodbridge isn't even in the same class as Westfield. By the way, past accomplishments, there are a total of 2 players from last years WF team that beat Woodbridge who went on to West Point to play football. The other seniors who graduated were good, but nobody great, don't think any other scholarship ball players. The majority of the starters on that team last year were juniors, players that would play against Woodbridge should both make it that far this year.

They've been saying that on this site since 2012. Yep, every year, just like clockwork. But WF keeps finding ways to win conference, region, & state titles. The team might not be as big in numbers or individual player size but they'll be fine.

They may make a deep run this year but next year, not looking so good. Have to find a new receiving corp and back field. Current RB that is filling in for Asante is less than impressive & that was a fumble on the 5yd line past Fri. night. This team is Sr driven. Next year, wouldn’t be surprised to see Chargers take them down.

How many Coaches does Westfield actually have? In every video I've seen as many as 6 coach in the video frame. Given that, I am presuming they have 12-15 Coaches? At some point, if my assumption is correct, the is a sportsmanship issue, or am I missing something here?

Officially they have 12 coaches for varsity and jv. 6 additional for freshman football. Doesn't seem unreasonable for a program with 150 kids. I see other of the larger programs with a similar number of coaches. Certainly more than there used to be.

No one made you start beating your chest in an on line forum hiding behind an anonymous screen name. If beating a clearly overmatched opponent and bragging about it makes you feel better about yourself then I can't help you. But if you complain about being called out about it, it seems to me that you're the whiney little bitch.

I agree wholeheartedly that Westfield and Woodbridge are gonna be the teams competing to make it to the state championship. I think WF pulls off the 4 peat. However, back to Woodson. Woodson will be 7-3 this year, they will lose to LB (simply don’t have the talent or coaching to match) they will lose to soco (don’t have the talent or athleticism) and will lose to Robo (when was the last time they were close to beating Robo????) they will get a high enough seed due to the weak schedule, probably an easy first round win, then get smacked the second round. Braddock loses to Woodbridge in the second round again (or third round, wherever they meet), almost guaranteed. Screenshot this or write it down or save it, because it’s what is gonna happen

I like SoCo at home, they are a totally different team when playing at home and their Home crowd is loud as any. Also big thing is Wildcats starting LB/WB/TE Karin Jean is out serving one game suspension after getting tossed in the Stonewall game. Wildcats safeties are very small and will not like tackling or fighting off the blockers of the Stallions Run game.

Stallions by 12.

Agree that Woodson finishes 7-3. Problem will be with their weak schedule and the strength of the region 7-3 will put them barely in or just out of the playoffs. If they get in, they will draw a powerhouse early. Woodson’s region already has lots of 2-0 teams and a few others that will likely finish well.

Only 8 get in:
Woodbridge (1-0)
Freedom (2-0)
Hylton (0-1)
Mt. Vernon (2-0)
TC Williams (2-0)
Hayfield (2-0)
West Potomac (1-1)
Robinson (2-0)
West springfield (2-0)
Lake Braddock (1-1)
South County (1-1)
Woodson (2-0)

Got to figure LB, Soco, Hylton, and West Pot’s 7-3 would beat Woodson’s 7-3 if it came to that. I don’t think anyone gets in at 6-4 unless it’s SoCo who plays a very tough schedule.

Good points. Also, Justice HS is 2-0 and doesn’t play anyone all season. They could easily end up 9-1 and would steal a spot knocking out another team.

For all the Doc lovers on this board, LB has the one of the most talented teams in the region. Give it up, the staff is terrible. they cant compete with the talent that they have on that team, then that's ridiculous! Poor Coaching!

They have a young QB, Edwards, who is a stud, James at DB WR Wedinger and number 5 at receiver/DB are all very good. the running back 28 very shifty. Good size on the O line and D line with couple of lineman with college offers. A stud MLB in Ahern.

To get blown out by Westfield and most likely blown out by Stone Bridge is poor coaching. To come on this board and claim to be the "best staff in the state" and cant win more then 7- 8 games, and get waxed by the better teams....Poor coaching!! In fact, name one signature win LB has had, under this staff?

Stop complaining about how you dont have the talent or whatever other excuses and win a big game, until then, no one wants to hear about this staff

Last time Chantilly HS won a game in football we had a completely new presidential adminstration... thats how long it has been! Bringing over a losing and laughable Oakton coaching staff who has been in the cellar for a number of years now won't do the losing Coach curry and his winless Chargers players any favors! As this is a forum for football, no need to make a false assertion about test scores. FCPS data proves that CHS's SOL scores are well over both the state and division averages. Keep comments about the games, W-L predictions, recuiting malpractice if pertinent. Slandering the coaches by name gets irksome. Last I noticed, the kids are on the field competing, not the coaches, Start another thread about academics. Doubt it will get 9+ pages of comments.

Yep its true about Amante Evans. Dad was upset his son wasn't starting both ways at RB and lost to Westfield so he cleaned out his locker and didn't show up to practice the next week. Didn't tell anyone and just left. His Dad was threatening the coaches if he didn't start both ways he was taking him to another school. Kept saying he had a bunch of high schools trying to recruit him including Woodbridge. Coaches not playing that game at LB. Woodbridge coach knows he has a fake address in Woodbridge and said he didn't care. LB Coach even called to warn the Woodbridge Coach and was told to worry about his own players.

If CHS can’t beat Herndon will Curry be on the hot seat? Another bad season 1-9, even Oakton is not an automatic W for them especially after seeing how O & D lines were dominated and Oakton is now adopting the power running game. Only week 3 of the season but I feel like this is a “MUST WIN” game for CHS. They lose I could see him losing this team completely, half the parents have already jumped off the wagon.

This is a must win game for Chantilly, but I think they get it done. They played well enough to win against Hayfield. Robinson pushed them around, but the rams appear to be much better than they are a year ago. The week before they went into PW county and handily beat a talented Hylton team. I think the Chargers win this one by 10+.

All the penalties esp the half dozen PF that Hayfield had called on them that kept that game close as it was.

Chargers must win this game. Coaches need to have a scheme that fits the talent you have not the other way around. Adapt for Pete’s sake. HC/OC think we have a team from PWCO forcing the spread on a bunch of slow footed kids (other than 2 kids).

Might be a good thing if some of those parents just bail. Not from Chantilly but from what I hear a good chunk of the parents there think they run the team. Or should be running it.

YES!!! A few times.....Last year against Woodbridge and he and his staff were out coached...Against Stone Bridge he and his staff were out coached Against West Potomac....he and his staff were out coached ...Against Westfield this year and last year, and he and his staff were out coached.

Any coach can win the easy games with all the talent they have at LB. A good coach will get you deep into the playoffs...a great coach wins state titles...see Westfield

Centreville's first game against an opponent with some semblance of an offense, I think SoCo pulls out the cover.

> 5. Mount Vernon (-24) @ Falls Church.

MV takes advantage of a chance to run up the score before they have to play real opponents.

> 8. West Potomac @ Madison (-17)

West Po is a step up from Marshall and Fairfax, 17 might be too much.

> 10. Tuscarora (-18) @ T.C. Williams

TC only lost by 10 in Leesburg last year so they get the cover at home.

Last time Wakefield beat Yorktown was 1995. Yorktown makes it 23 years in a row with a cover.

> 12. West Springfield (-10) @ Washington-Lee

West Springfield covers. Lock of the week.

Has WTW improved since Doc left? Hasn't LB slipped.

For the poster asking if WTW has improved or not... my answer would be yes they have but not because of coaching. The senior class at Woodson is LOADED by their standards. With or without Doc, they would have been/will be 7-3 this year when looking at their talent and schedule. LB has slipped that’s true, but the schedule is pretty tough and they do have less overall talent than in years past. They’re still incredibly talented, and should have Atleast competed with and kept the Westfield game closer than it was this year, and won the Westpo game last year. I would not say they got our coached vs Woodbridge, but they got our talented. However even though WB had more talent they lost to Westfield because truly Westfield has the best coaching staff in the state. I think people are too quick to cast blame on doc for LB results, just as they are too quick to ride him for winning easy games. IMO, this team at LB was never gonna be anything other than 8-2, and a second or third round playoff exit. However, that’s no different than under poythress. Under coach P, they would be 10-0 and then lose in the second or third round. The season will end all the same for them. That’s just one man’s opinion though

Additionally, after this season, WTW drops back to a 3-7 through 5-5 type of team with the occasional 6-4 mixed in, just due to the talent level they have

Lake Braddock has as much talent as they have had in the past, they have studs all over the field this year. To say anything else is just an excuse.

LB has a tough schedule this year? They always have a tough schedule every year!!! Another excuse!!

The knock on Pothress was he couldn't beat Westfield in the playoffs, he played them 4 straight times and lost. I never heard him once complain the schedule was too tough or we dont have enough talent. The LB coaches need to man up and stop complaining about what they dont have and learn to coach what they do have. Otherwise, Principal Mier will be taking over

I mean it’s strictly factual that they are less talented and they have been before I never said that they had no talent they still have a light. In the knock on Coach p Was not just Westfield it was that they couldn’t get past the region championship that will continue to be the case at Lake Braddock this team really is not all that different however you all as a community continue to blame the coaches there for things that they have not been saying and I’m not even to Braddock fan I am a Westfield fan and follower and I have a kid on that team. I don’t think it’s debatable That until somebody beats Westfield they are the team to beat however all I’m saying is that brother should not receive the amount of hate that they do as a coaching staff because if the issue was just Westfield that until somebody beats Westfield they are the team to beat however all I’m saying is that brother should not receive the amount of heat that they do as a coaching staff because if the issue was just Westfield for poythress, doc is in the same boat

Why waste valuable print on a coach who hasn’t won and will not win at FHS. His offense didn’t even muster a 1st down in the first half against Madison. Barely did anything against the 2nd team. And there is nothing at the JV or Fr level to indicate anything will be better in the next 2-3yrs.

A lot of blow outs, I mean, real blow outs this week.

Also, a lot of double digit wins.

Stone Bridge, Woodson, Hayfield, Madison, Mount Vernon, Justice, TC Williams all win going away.

Westfield, Centreville, Robinson, West Springfield, South Lakes, Lake Braddock, and Marshall also should all win by double digits.

Wilson of DC will handle Yorktown.

Arlington football is absolute garbage, but only game this week tough to pick is Wakefield and Washington and Lee. How about W&L by 6?

Best game locally by far is Broad Run at Tuscarora. By far.

If you are going to include crap teams from Arlington in your point spreads, at least include stud teams from Loudoun.

Did this guy get EVERY game right last week? Puts Steve K to shame!

Check for me, but I believe he nailed every game.

Disagree slightly. Centreville defense is going to be very strong this season - haven't given up any points yet.

1. Westfield
2. Woodbridge
3. Broad Run
4. Stone Bridge
5. Centreville
6. Madison
7. Tuscarora
8. Freedom Woodbridge
9. Robinson
10. Lake Braddock/South County (tossup)

Centreville has not played a team that has won 1 game yet. Also Champe is a 5A school, were 4A just 2 seasons ago.

Centreville beat them both leaving them with exactly 1 other game they haven't won. It's early. There are a number of teams in that top 10 that haven't played an opponent with a win yet. Champe is going to be a class 6 school next year.

Average to above average. Definitely not Varsity studs. No depth. Good team with decent coaches. The rants about bad coaching and great talent has to be from a hater of Doc and a Poythress lover. Let it go. Let it go. Move on.
