Know some folks who joined the reserves for medic training - as soon as basic was over their MOS magically got changed to infantry and were shipped to Baghdad inside of a month.

That last photo above looks like Ted Lerner's building at Dulles Town Center in Sterling. We looked at renting some space there, but they wanted their rate (at least $20/sq ft over going rates) and nothing but so we walked away. It's an OK facility, but not that great.

I thought the winter formulation didn't start until November. There is a different blend for Northern Virginia for the winter (supposedly to reduce emissions) that usually runs about 5-10c more per gallon.

Manassas is old-school Comcast, and has always been notorious for poor service and draconian network admins. There's a huge difference between that and the ex-Adelphia Comcast units, and even differences between the old Adelphia units too; Loudoun's ex-Adelphia-now-Comcast is horrible, but Fauquier's isn't too bad, and it's a damn sight better than what I had with Media General/Cox. The Leesburg FAA facility is an ARTCC (Air Route Traffic Control Center), and the radars and repeaters are on Mt. Weather and (I think) Mt. Hopewell, but I thought that center was scheduled to move to Vint Hill...

What was unnerving was stopping for gas on Rt. 29 in Opal - across the highway from Clark Bros. gun store and shooting range. BANG - ducks head.....

DMV controls the points. The judge may cut you some slack on the fine since you're a +5, but if you prepay you'll get no such leniency.

Don't bother with 66 to 29 to 17 - 29 to 17 is now a major bridge route for Canadian truckers between I81 and I95. Friday evenings between Opal and Stafford are brutal on Rt 17. I think you mean Aden road (starts on Rt 28 just north of Nokesville?). Aldie is on Rt 50 west of Rt 15 at Gilbert's Corner in Loudoun.

My son's high school has graduation scheduled there next June, and we were told in no uncertain terms last night at senior orientation that although it has been sold it is not closing.

The old H&K building at the corner of Lee & Willard roads is now (I think) an FCPD Training Facility. I used to live not far from there and remember this story when it happened. I believe H&K are now in Sterling, off Rt 28 at Severn.

Maybe I'm lucky - my Passat's been rock-solid for four years and 120,000+ miles. I've found that VW dealer service is expensive, but haven't had any issues with any of those I've been to. The coolest new Beetle I've seen is the yellow one in the Sterling/Herndon area with the Autobot decals.....

Alright - I'll 'fess up to being the "old fart". I'm 49 and wrote my first FORTRAN program in '75 on punch cards for an IBM System 36. Oh - and I also walked to school in 3 feet of snow uphill both ways (just being preemptive - get off my lawn!)

Try even further south, in Fauquier - it's two lanes, 45mph and slowed by farm equipment. If you include out-of-state drivers, then DMV can't collect the fees, the courts would. If the court collects the fees, the money goes to the general fund and NOT the transportation fund. That's why it was set up like that - so that they could put the funds collected directly into transportation. BTW - the unconstitutional ruling only applies to Henrico County.

If NoVa secedes from Virginia: - the state bird will be a construction crane - the state flower will be the orange-and-white striped barrel - the state seal will be a "road under construction" sign - and the state motto will be "You can't get there from here". Thank you very much - I'm here 'til Thursday. Try the veal.

You'd probably want an over-and-under or autoloader for clay sports - pumps are no good; the reload cycle time takes too long and pulls you too far off target, especially on doubles and egg-drops. However, nothing says "deterrence" quite like the "ka-chuck" of a pump.... no mistaking that sound for anything else.

If you're willing to go as far as Clark Brothers, there's Shady Grove outside Remington for shotgun sports. Oh - the shotgun from Terminator 2 is a Winchester "Hero", a modified 1887 Winchester single-shot, and from the looks of it may not be legal (as in sawed-off). Besides, to accommodate the cool-looking "spin" to reload, the trigger guard is mostly removed - bad idea, unless you want a lot o

Way back in the day, some stores that took checks had a system where your photo was taken along with a photo of the check (the original photo ID). Filmdex made that system. My guess is they probably still handle microfilm or microfiche records for financial institutions, hence the security.

It would depend upon the size of the plane - for large-scale, such as quarter-scale, I'd suggest you contact Fauquier Aero Recreation Modelers - they have a very large field down here near the Flying Circus in Bealeton.
