I've lived in the area from 6-8 years now, and still haven't found one interesting thing to do here, that doesn't require hundreds of dollars, tanks of gas, or well... more money.

I'm not 21, and bars are too expensive around here as is, so that's out the window. And you can only see so many movies/hookah bars in one week before you get tired of them all.

Anybody know of anything I could do around here?

Hookers? Drugs? Run for office?

People may look down on you running for office, though.

I ahte to break it to you, but its like that anywhere you go. We live 15 miles from our nations capital where there is plenty to do, if your 21 or older. I suggest you go buy some alcohol with friends, get drunk and watch chris rock or dane cook on dvd. Or go to college, if youre not already there and join a fraternity.

I hear there is a giant government wharehouse in DC that is loaded down with artifacts. Its the smithsonian, SOmewhere in there in a musty old crate is the arc of the covenant;placed there it is said when it was recovered by a little known archeologist in the late 1930's. you should go find it

You could find a hobby...

Here are some suggestions:

Model building
Firearms target shooting
Website building
Anything automotive
Street Racing - just kidding ;-)

Also, there is a GREAT go kart track in Sterling on Maries Rd off Cascades Pkwy. I think they have sessions and maybe a league for that.

There is also plenty of sports in the county - Try the park Svc. website.

See the Nation's Capitol and Environs

Take the front section of the telephone book for places of interest, description, times, and fees (if any). The maps in the yellow pages are helpful, also.

Recommend that you leave your car at home or at Metro station parking and take advantage of all-day Metro pass. Do not need to worry about finding parking, downtown parking fees, or bullets in your car. Recommend visit during daylight hours for safety reasons.

Treat yourself to Mongolian barbecue in China town.

Lol, if you're talking about graffiti, I haven't done that since I was 14, six years ago. I mean, I still love the stuff, but I'll stick to photographing it for now, don't need to be arrested.

OMG I have an awesome story that will blow your socks off! So I'm heading to class, and have to stop because of the fucking train that seems to come by every morning and hold up traffic for like 20 minutes. So I'm waiting there, and each box/cargo box of the train has graffiti shit sprayed all over it. I couldn't deciper most of it, but then this one comes by. It's not graffiti, but in big letters it says 'it's my bday, i'm drunk'. I laughed my ass off, then i saw another that said 'NOVA with a picture of a huge fucking shroom'.

Art at it's finest.

(funny thing is, I completely forgot this thread existed, I think I posted it before I actually signed up with an account.)

Back to the original topic, though:
Other than prostitutes, drugs, guns, graffiti, and sitting in traffic.... what's a thug to do?

You could join a kickball league. I see lots of young people wearing these shirts that say WAKA. It's a coed kickball league. That would be fun plus you could meet girls and mgetm exercise.

Or, you can join the DIEYUPPIEKICKBALLERS organization and disrupt the pointless & ridiculous games these tools are playing.

I heard about one a while back where they all basically played kickball during the day and got piss drunk every night at some bar.
