The hill behind the Stone House in Manassas National Battlefield Park has always been good for sledding.

Bealeton is definitely NOT Northern Virginia. NoVa fades out around the outer Prince William subdivisions between Manassas airport and Nokesville.

Here's a link to the Dulles spotting guide (PDF) put together by the Washington Baltimore Spotters Group, updated about a week ago, offering radio frequencies, spotting locations, recommended camera setups, and operations summary. I notice it lists a UPS DC8 - there's a possible candidate for the late-night noise. http://www.washbaltspotters.net/files/iadspots.pdf Note the big red statement at

I've got some links somewhere to the "approved" planewatching locations around Dulles; I'll see if I can find them, as M

Actually, the Luftwaffe flies Transall C-160s (easy to spot the difference - C130s are four-engine, C160s are two-engine). NATO pilots have trained out at Nellis AFB since the weather in Europe usually sucks rocks, and the Luftwaffe have (or had) an office at Dulles to process their pilots thru. It's been a while since I've seen an RAF VC-10, so I don't know if they're still around but they're

Given the info so far, I'd lean towards the RAF VC-10 liaison flight by 101 Squadron to Brize Norton, although the VC-10s are due to be replaced by Airbus A330 MRTTs. It certainly wasn't any of the flights listed above; the Pilatus and Beechcraft are small turboprops and the A-319 as noted uses quiet Gen-3 high-bypass turbofans.

I'm not a standards nazi, but I've personally seen the speed difference on a ten-foot cable pinned out using your method, where tx and rx rates were 1/10th of what they could've been. You are correct that your method will work, I'm saying it won't be optimal. If you don't use the correct pattern, performance will take a hit. If you don't mind running at Cat3 speeds, use your way. If anyone else

Could've been one of the older Tupolevs for Aeroflot; that and the VC-10 the RAF brings in are the loudest planes there since the Concorde retired.

I just bought an '08 Accord in Fredericksburg - it was at least $2000 less than at dealers in Manassas, Chantilly or Leesburg.

The Centreville Goodyear has been suspect for many years. It's been a while, but I used to use Morty's on Willard Rd. Good service, fair prices. In the Sterling area, I'd recommend C&C or Curry's.

That's sunnyside - the older section across Braddock (same side as the golf course) is shadyside. It's a nice neighborhood, but it certainly has had it's share of troubles and not just recently. This kind of crap was going on when I was there (even went to court on some of it).

I missed that in your first post, Brett, but you're right - it seems like there's some weird prioritization going on. Stuff that's half-done is just sitting there, but others like widening Rt 15 in Haymarket is going gangbusters.

http://28freeway.com/project-map/5-fryingpan.html Unless the schedule has been changed, the Frying Pan Rd. interchange is scheduled to start this spring, not last year. They are behind schedule on the Church road/Atlantic Blvd section; that was supposed to be completed last fall.

Not a national ID? How about needing one to visit the DC visitor center or a Social Security office? http://www.news.com/Federal-buildings-become-Real-ID-zones/2009-1028_3-6229133.html Or how about needing one to get some Sudafed? http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/02/05/real_id_for_cold_medicine/

Isn't that what the land used to be? Or was that McDonald's? That and the 7-Eleven, Hunter Hardware, Pink Guitarz, the State Farm office... I'm surprised they didn't take half the fire house along with it.

There was some kind of cockup on Waxpool Rd. that backed up Ashburn-bound 28 traffic at least as far as 606 when I went thru southbound - don't know if it reached as far as you saw it.
