First time in court

I posted this on the Prince William underground and I got no response. I find that strange since I thought that most folks living in PW county had at least been to court once.

I recently had an accident in Prince William county. It was a stupid error in judgement and it was all my fault. I have decided to go to court... maybe get less points and/or fine. I have never been to court (for anything) and would like to know what to expect. I got my driving record for the last 11 years from DMV and I have +5 points... basically I have no record.

Are there any "seasoned veterans" or even one-time offenders out there who could share the good, the bad, and/or the ugly??

The charge is:

Failure to yield the right of way while entering a highway.

just prepay it if you're admitting total fault. the courts have no control on points. they might suspend the $30 fine but is it really worth it??? (btw- you would still have to pay court costs)

Are you sure that the courts have no control over points?? The fine is much higher than $30.

DMV controls the points. The judge may cut you some slack on the fine since you're a +5, but if you prepay you'll get no such leniency.
