It is good to continue to drink water whilst experiencing diarrhea - that is the number one cause of fatalities in poorer countries. In most cases in the US and very likely

Radiophile I am surprised you are falling for this ad hominem gambit that detracts from your post...you'll go nowhere trying to defend yourself all he'll keep replying with is 'yes you are'...'no I'm not...yes you are...no I'm not.' It doesn't go anywhere - say your piece and be done w it, don't fall for the personal attack. Tis tempting to defend yourself but like I said...goes nowhere. Most

Eesh - Eurovision has always been synonymous with euro-trash music - tis complete and utter rubbish the whole lot of it. Most pop music is though - I will agree that pop music from Europe proper (i.e. the continent) is much worse than anglophone pop...but that's not saying much. There are loads of great foreign bands out there - just depends on your tastes really.

I hate the whole family values bit - and when politicians start pontificating about what those values are or should be, I generally abhor them. Nevermind that those pontificating the loudest are usually the biggest transgressors (closet gays, drug users, womanizers, etc). I think politicians should not worry about family values at all and focus more on keeping this country safe, economically st

I agree Obama is a horrible name too...but it's not tadpole or colon. And I agree with you Wingnut - Obama has continued the Bush policies (it's a wonder the right-wingers hate him and are frothing at the bit to get him out) on just about every account...the wars are going strong, the stimulus funding finance/corporations over the people, tax cuts extended, Guantanamo wide open for business, PAT

Don't know how you could say he has business sense when all he does is parlay bankruptcies. Reminds me of another failed business man that actually became president..and was god awful at that too. I don't know what background you should have in order to become somewhat qualified as a president...but repeated bankrupt businesses a la Bush and Trump does not a good president make. Then we have N

What's interesting to me is the metrics involved...the inflation rate only takes into account certain factors (so it's not the true inflation rate). The unemployment rate also takes into account certain factors (so again you get a distorted view). You'd think that the overall health of this country is somewhat stable and even growing slowly based on the government's cooked up statistics. The

The GOP is god awful, but the democrats really aren't that much better. The dems had a two year window to work through some good stuff on the 'hope and change' platform and as Village Idiot wrote - a lot of independents will not vote for him because his record is pretty clear Obama and the dems were basically Bush-lite. The republicans call Obama a socialist and have now moved even that much mo

Lesson learned - don't send a face photograph to a stranger unless you're okay w that sort of thing. For the phone..can't you put his # on ignore - he should leave you alone and move on if you ignore him long enough.

This bit made me laugh: "...or our comfortable social safety net?" I don't know about you guys, but I couldn't live on the weekly allowance of ~$350 (taxed at that) that's considered unemployment insurance. Tisn't what I'd call comfortable either social safety net. Some of Europe's pro-labor laws have what I'd say is a comfortable safety net but not the US. The US makes it very uncomfortable

What's specious to me is the argument that the Republicans keep spewing like it's gospel that by lowering taxes at the highest levels we will see the trickle down work. Under Bush's tax cuts (extended under Obama til 2012) we've seen the lowest effective tax rates since 1931 for the richest classes. Under the Republican mantra you'd think the economy would be booming but it's only going great f

For the chosen discipline to the state and the leadership is paramount. North Korea has not only the hammer and sickle but also the paint brush and takes the arts seriously - look up their mass games on youtube. It's like Cirque de Soleil x 100 - performed for tourists and beamed all over North Korea - though they make it sound like it's beamed all over the world.

truth - you ask a valid question imo. But I think it would have been a major mess had the US kept him alive. People would have rallied to his cause and every step of the way towards trial would have been suffused with major tension and security issues etc. The official US policy is not to assassinate people - we all know tis a load of bollocks. While a trial may have been the just thing to do

I still don't know what the media is talking about when they continually harp about the recovery. Around here and a couple major metropolitan areas we're fairly insulated from the US at large but for 95% of America they are barely holding on. The "official" poverty rate is so absurdly low and yet 14% of Americans meet the criteria. Another 28% of America clings to numbers just above official p

Spewing the fight club rules is trite and over-done. To the OP - the very beauty of this forum - off-site in particular - is its lawlessness. The last thing we want to create are rules and moderation. If some people take it too seriously and quit, then so be it.

Ideologically speaking they each talk their talk but

Gas prices may be rising due to some turmoil but if you look closely it doesn't make sense. Libya accounts for <2% of the overall output but the prices have climbed 30%+. You'll notice very soon that the petroleum companies when they post their profits will be higher than they have ever been. It is a combination of several factors - namely collusion/price-gouging, speculation, and lastly in

I doubt the OP has read much beyond the first reply - but this site is one of the few that lets it all go (at least on offsite) no one is immune from attack but least of all someone like you that comes out swinging and expects us all to be contrite and ask for forgiveness. You stand zero chance of shutting this site down as it is protected by the Constitution.

Peanut butter is good but not between two slices of bread - dry on dry...just doesn't do it for me. Think it's a cultural thing. I love making Asian noodles using peanut butter.

Something I'd suggest you do if you're planning on driving - go overnight - just drive all night long. Set off ~9pm and you'll miss the bad traffic. Pack snacks in the car, your wife can dole them out. Have the little DVD player for the kids...run them ragged during the day, they should be out cold by 11pm or so. When they awaken you should be fairly close to Orlando. The speed limit on 95 i
