Problem is when you have the squirts you lose some of your beneficial intestinal bacteria. When you lose those lil' critters , you can't digest properly and you get more diarrhea as a result. Thats why people in the third world die from diseases like dysentary. They shit themselves into a state of fatal dehydration.
In theory , yougurt should help. But many of the brand names don't contain enough of the desired bacteria culture. If you go to the Vitamin Shoppe, there are Pro-biotics there that could restore your bacteria flora to the proper amount.

It is good to continue to drink water whilst experiencing diarrhea - that is the number one cause of fatalities in poorer countries. In most cases in the US and very likely yours as well, your symptoms should clear within 24-72 hours.

Because of the volume of liquid passing through you, you want to try and replenish lost nutrients/fluids - simplest solutions are usually the best - in a large clean container get a quart of water, a cup of orange juice, teaspoon of baking powder and a pinch of salt, combine and drink small sips frequently. Like I wrote, you should be gtg within the next 2-3 days. Don't eat fatty meals thereafter til you feel right again.

If you're experiencing high fevers, blood in the stool, nocturnal diarrhea (i.e. experiencing severe symptoms that continuously awaken you), and/or have symptoms > 3 days - visit your physician.

It's probably being caused by something you are eating. I would suggest avoiding spicy food, anything with chocolate or with lots of preservatives (bacon, processed meat in general).

This is going into day 2. I have never had it like this before, and it is giving me some really bad stomach pains too - I buckled over in pain a few times over night. I am going less though as time goes on, which is good. I will eat some bananas at lunch and will give the yogurt a try. I am guessing food poisoning maybe?

Interesting WTL, I always heard about laying off the spicy food and even greasy foods too but the chocolate prohibition is news to me.

BRATTY diet

Bananas, Rice, Apple sauce, Toast, Tea, Yogurt

guzzle glue

If you are dehydrated, be careful not to drink too much liquid too fast or it will come right back out your chute.

Drink water, tea or Gatorade but only sip slowly and take in a little at a time.

I never heard of the BRATTY diet, but I've always eaten all those things (except yogurt) as a way to fight the shits.

Brown Eyed - I've seen a lot of this...it should clear around your 3rd day. People have been experiencing strong abdominal cramps waves of nausea/vomiting and fairly severe diarrhea (3+ times p/hr). Try and rest, drink...and as Wingnut said...not quickly...little sips frequently. It will end as suddenly as it started.

Like I wrote earlier if you go for days, start excreting blood, and/or develop a high fever, visit the doc otherwise...enjoy the ride ~

It is an excellent diet plan.

It is...except it's water weight, you'll get it all back within a couple weeks. It's not like you're excreting fatty mass.

Thats an improvement, but the bowel movement in the picture only gets a C+.
It's floating, which is good, and circular, also good.
But it should be lighter in color and fluffier, like a cloud.
A daily dose of psylium , at least a tablespoon , will give you consistant grade A and B bowel movements.

kind of looks like a pretzel and damn it is long. Nasty.
