Haven't seen teachers dress as sloppily as "dress for success" claims, If so, they should at least be wearing jeans if they aren't gym teachers. Sweats probably aren't dressy enough. In general, I'm with katiesmith. Do NOT think clothes make the man as far as an education goes - I'd rather my kid and the teachers spend their time learning and teaching than making sure their uniform is ready

Yes, it's illegal. You're supposed to stay IN YOUR LANE when going through a traffic light. It's doubly important to do so if you're making a turn at the intersection. Otherwise, there's no way for other drivers to know where you're going to end up either in the intersection or when you get to the other side of the intersection, and that causes accidents. Signals are also required, not option

If you really care, check the FCPS emergency page. Be sure to reload often. Set your kitchen timer to go off every hour so you can check to see if you can sleep in. For non-definite closings, they generally won't decide until 4am - it's up to you. http://www.fcps.edu/news/emerg.shtml

Don't know about coed, but Herndon Community Center has a sauna in the women's locker room (and in the men's too, I assume).

You have the right to use a pistol, rifle, and/or shotgun to hunt or to defend your or your family's life or property but only under certain conditions. 1) You must register each and every weapon you own with the state. 2) You must prove to the state that you are of rational thought and are not a danger to society to own any projectile-firing weapons before you will be licensed to own or use any.

Driving through Herndon - still a 25mph speed limit in most places, and you'll still get a ticket for going much over that.

There was an article - probably in the Connection or the Observer - a while back which said it was a cultural thing for the guys to just hang out together. Maybe Herndon needs to install some game tables (chess/checkers) in that area? Make it a bit more directed hanging-out?

Like the suggested Beltway Bandits, Washington Pigskins, and Washington Warriors. Others: * Washington Monuments - we know it's all about testosterone * Washington Warthogs - keep the Hogettes but ditch the racism. Not that warthogs are around DC, I don't think, but how many people would care? * Washington Gridlock * Washington Traffic * Washington Heights - for the height limit on buildings.

Don't think anyone should be required to register for Selective Service - it's a horrible way to get a military with high morale. It should be optional for men AND women to put their names in once they hit 18. If the government would like to appeal to more than just those who are likely to volunteer for the military anyway, they could do something a bit more palatable to those who don't want

This is def. not a good place to find a good home for a pet. Give your dog to someone you know personally or to a good friend of someone you know well. Failing that, see if you can find a rescue group who'll take your dog. Failing that, find a "no-kill" shelter. Most aren't. A "no-kill" shelter will usually have rescue groups and fosters who'll keep your dog alive and healthy long enough to

That was way over the line, Eesh, to use a kid's birth defects to gross people out. I was much happier not having heard of this particular thing that can go wrong in amnio and you could just have linked to the kid's story instead of posting all these huge, nauseating photos to the group. Thanks to those of you who are responding sympathetically to the kid - he clearly does have very caring pare

Note also how the woman in the photo is pretty curvy-looking, not a stick. Clearly a bathing beauty if they put her in that photo. Nowadays quite a few people (including a bunch of FUers) would say she's pudgy to obese. Same thing - they weren't as into extremes back then and they still ignored if not valued a bit of roundness in the face and legs. As for the overdone modern dude - looks like
