I'm curious about Werkheiser too. When a politician has nothing but a critique of his opponent, it doesn't speak well about his own capabilities. I'm also not sure about the fact that he raised more $$ than Albo. Wouldn't it mean he has more 'favors' to return, if elected?

Nice pics, bledbetter. Lorton Rd has this spot where it goes thru a big rock - too bad if it diappears as a result of this widening.

FFX County wants to widen Furnace and Lorton Rd from 2 to 4 lanes. Can't help but wonder if such expenses are really needed, esp. nowadays - I drive these roads daily, and there's hardly any traffic that would call for an extra lane. Adding to the school buses budget would be a better way to spend $$, IMHO.

Can't speak for Navy, but in Fairfax Station/Lorton area it's a complete clusterfuck. Due to changed boundaries many kids have to go not to closest, not even to second closest, but to the third school, resulting in 45 mins... 1+ hour bus rides. Some even have to take 2 buses on one trip. And no, no cost savings - they've added 5 or so new bus routes to accomodate moving kids from Route 1 hoods ov

Why democrats/Obama supporters have so little tolerance towards those who don't like/support/respect Obama for one reason or another? WHy they always assume that everyone anti-Obama is automatically pro-Bush? Just curious.

Ah, this brings some memories... I travelled to China back in 1990 and to find a nice... scratch that - a decent bathroom was actually quite a problem. In Beijing with few modern hotels it was more or less ok (actually, it was great esp.in hotels belonging to Westen chains, as they had a special guy who'd service you with a warm towel and would probably wipe your ass if you'd asked), but down So

Speaking of Hoose Rd, why couldn't they put a sidewalk at least on one side during the expansion work few years ago? Give the stretch b/w Furnace and 123 is only few hundred feet, it wouldn't cost much.

Not only they were badly outplayed, they didn't show any heart - except for Ovie, as usually. Can you imagine any other team going down just like that, w/o any scrums, fights and 5 mins penalties in front of home crowd?

Now it will be even harder (read - much, much more expensive) to adopt a kid from fmr.Soviet Union, and esp. from Russia. There's a lot of negativety already, and stories like this do not help the case. Now, for those who think the guy will suffer the rest of his life and it's a punishment enough - how do you know this? He didn't admit any wrongdoing, spent $$ on lawyers to safeguard himself, a

Based on my recent observations while visitinf the US Court in Alexandria, DUI gets you 1 yr probation and 6 months of suspended license (or is it called restricted? - you can drive to/from work only).

Not that I question the $$ teachers make and hours they dedicate, but gotta mention that there are other professions that require much more that typical 8 hrs/day & 40hrs/week. Ever been travelling out on Sunday nights and coming home back late on Fri or even on Saturdays, like many IT consultants do? And it's not like they all make $100K/yr or more. I don't think you're quaranteed a 5% ann

I can see the need to maintain the current infrastructure/facilities, but if there's a budget deficit, it's not the time for shopping, i.e. land acquisitions. Besides, as someone asked in other topic, where's that land they want to buy? Remeber the discussion the other day how people use public land adjacent to their homes? How'bout county making sure it's using all available land first, before
