Interesting. I've never seen this commercial before, but my first reaction was shock. Seriously. I wasn't expecting her to come into the scene from above. A couple of things went through my mind when it happend: 1) The image of a girl walking down kind of slouched in a loose fitting dress like that instatnly reminded me of all these Japanese horror movies like The Ring (something like this ht

Seems like a weak attempt to create a controversy. No one cares. The NRA can't sieze your property (firearms, for example) or arrest you, unlike the government.

In 2011, 55 out of every 100,000 registered motorcyles were involved in fatal crashes. In the same year only 9 out of every 100,000 passenger cars were involved in fatal crashes. [ http://www.iii.org/issues_updates/motorcycle-crashes.html ] I'll state the obvious. It's time to ban motorcycles from public roadways. They're a danger to their riders as well as to other motorists. They are diffi

I was in a Starucks in another state recently, and they had this rag they were using to clean the milk steaming wand sitting in a vat of brown milky liquid. Of course they were reaching their hands in the vat, grabbing a (most likely) filthy white washcloth and cleaning the steaming wand. Almost didn't want my cappuccino after that. But I drank it anyway.

Hilarious. I guess that paywall will stay? The Post sucked and everyone knew it. Newspapers are dead sadly, because journalism is dead. Having sweaty suits on Capital Hill re-writing, re-tweeting and re-vocalizing the vapid bullshit press releases of the political parties is not valuable. No one wants to pay for that. We now depend on the British press to break a real story about US politics

Whether or not it costs a lot of money is irrelevant. What matters is if the government is operating by the rules or not. In this case the "rules" are those enumerated in the Constitution. Abolishing "separate-but-equal" probably cost a lot of money. So did allowing women to vote. Oh well. That's what you get for not doing it right (and calculating the real costs) the first time. I'm sure t

I'm of the opinion that it's always best to insist that the state follow the law when they're prosecuting you for violating the law. Otherwise, the state itself can become lawless. Insist on a personal summons. Mailed summonses are not sufficient under the law. If you respond, you do so voluntarily. He was arrested by Fairfax County police. Maybe he's already on his way to Guantanamo.
