Week 7 Results

1. Centreville @ Westfield (-21)
- Westfield blanks Centreville, 35-0.

2. Edison (-27) @ Annandale
- Edison dismantled Annandale, 55-6.

3. Freedom-Woodbridge (-45) @ Woodbridge
- Freedom continues their winning ways, 63-7.

4. Langley @ Yorktown (-6)
- If what I am reading on here is true, this sounds like a great game. Did Yorktown really get away with spiking the ball with 0:00 on the clock? Anyway, Yorktown won on a late FG, 31-28.

5. Lightridge @ Stone Bridge (-30)
- Stone Bridge with another district shutout, 63-0.

6. Marshall (-24) @ Wakefield
- Marshall won 21-3, failing to cover. This was Wakefield's Homecoming game which was also played yesterday in the rain, so conditions might of had something to do with the score. I was expecting a wider margin of victory.

7. McLean @ Herndon (-3)
- I watched the 2nd half of this game and it was fantastic and really could've went either way. It was 14-14 when I started watching and both teams were just about evenly matched. I thought McLean had a good QB as he was making good throws early in the 3rd but he (debatable) lost the game for his team with a Pick 6 and then another late INT to seal the win for Herndon, 31-28. It was McLean's game to lose and they did. Two quick things: I love how McLean went with pink socks. I remember 10 years ago every team would go pink out at least once in October and it seems those days have passed and secondly, Herndon's PA announcer was hard to listen to. So much unnecessary stuff was said. I sadly had to watch on mute.

8. Mount Vernon @ Hayfield (-3)
- Hayfield bounced back in a big way, shutting out the Majors 24-0.

9. Oakton @ South Lakes (-38)
- A long night indeed it was for Oakton. South Lakes won 56-18, nailed this one! Almost certain Oakton scored on the Seahawk's backups.

10. Woodson @ Robinson (-3)
- Robinson enjoys a nice Homecoming win, 27-14.

11. Stuart @ Lee (-5)
- JEB got the win in this one, 34-20. Make that two wins in a row for them now, did they get some transfers?!? 34 points?!? JEB's 2 wins last year were also against Annandale and Lee. But all jokes aside, good for them.

12. T.C. Williams @ Lake Braddock (-27)
- The Bruins were victorious, 52-14. T.C. has West Potomac, Robinson and Fairfax left. 0-10 is a very real possibility.

13. West Springfield (-15) @ West Potomac
- West Springfield won 34-25, failing to cover.

Week 8
Posted by: parentof2 ()

Week 8 already! Crazy how fast the season moves by. I am waiting on the current Power Point standings to get sent to me, but a lot of movement is expected. With that being said, let’s get into this week’s action:

Centreville (-3) @ Chantilly
Two bottom tier teams in the Concorde. I can see the Chargers winning at home but I think Centreville is just a little bit better. Potential to be a real close game, Shields better prepare accordingly.

Lake Braddock (-10) @ West Springfield
I’m expecting a lot of points in this game. Historically, the Spartans have kept most games with the Bruins close. I think Lake Braddock pulls away late in this one. Always a good game when these two get together.

Lee (-3) @ Falls Church
Yes, I know Lee just lost to JEB but Falls Church has 6 points in 7 games. I don’t know how, but I have a feeling Lee will find a way to get the win, but Falls Church will score some points this week.

Marshall @ Herndon (-17)
Herndon is just simply the better team in this one. Hornets win big at home.

Mount Vernon (-15) @ Annandale
I think the Majors get back on track this week on the road against a bad Annandale team. I was surprised they got shutout by Hayfield, expecting them to correct that this week and win big on the road.

Potomac @ Freedom-Woodbridge (-45)
Freedom won’t truly be challenged until the Region Championship. Overton’s crew is clicking on all cylinders.

Robinson @ Fairfax (-21)
Robinson has improved and Fairfax has taken a step down since the season started but the fact still remains that Fairfax is the better team in this one. Give me a Homecoming win for Fairfax.

South County (-38) @ Woodson
The Stallions are coming off a bye week and are ready to get back to work, I’m sure. Back week to be a Woodson player or coach.

South Lakes @ Madison (-3)
Game of the week. 7-0 vs. 7-0. This is going to be a fist fight. I like Madison at home in a close one. I think it will be a back and forth game similar to the Westfield game. Madison better come ready as the Seahawks are more than equipped to knock them off. Do I see it happening? No. Could it? Absolutely. Looking forward to watching this one.

Stone Bridge (-40) @ Independence
Looking for another Bulldogs blowout against 2-5 Independence. They have not allowed a point in 2 district games since completing that grueling of a gauntlet to start the season. I wonder will Stone Bridge play those schools again next year?

Stuart @ Edison (-28)
JEB finally seems to have figured out how to get some offense working. Edison, on the other hand, is marching toward the National District title. Give me Edison big at home.

Washington-Lee @ McLean (-6)
Co game of the week. Each team has 1 district loss so this is a big game in that sense. I like McLean to get back on track this week after a sour loss to Herndon that was all but theres. I’m sure McLean will be all over the W&L vs. Herndon film from a few weeks ago and I’m looking for them to come out with a good game plan leading to a home win. These are two very good teams, make no mistake about it. Another game I’m looking forward to.

Westfield (-35) @ Oakton
Looking for Westfield to beat up on the bottom feeders of the Concorde. More than likely will see a running clock in the 2nd half of this one.

West Potomac (-7) @ T.C. Williams
This is one of two games left that T.C. has a chance in and add to the mix that it’s a rivalry game and there’s a chance they can pull it off but I just don’t see it happening. T.C. sucks this year and surely West Potomac is at least a TD better. I like the Wolverines on the road in this one.

Where’s Aidan’s dad to make excuses for another loss. He’s almost as bad as Bruins Mama was, or are they the same person?

Aidan Dash has received his first offer to play college football. Proving all you doubters wrong. He is far and away the best quarterback in the patriot district. Who even comes close to him? Jordan Dennis is barely able to put up stats to compare to Dash, and nobody else is even noteworthy. Woodson is an 0-10 team without him. Put him on South County and they would’ve beat Madison. Keep doubting him, haters.

Not looking good for south county. Heard Aidan dash has something schemed for this game. As a coaching staff I’d be worried about Woodson. Expect a close game. I have Woodson (-3).

Couldn’t agree more with Cavswinningfriday! Aidan Dash has been due for a big game and I believe that this is the one. I heard from some of my sources that Vin DeRosa is ready to step up for the Cavs and he will make a big difference in the passing game, giving THE Aidan Dash another target. People are seriously doubting the Cavs in this one but I can see a huge upset brewing. Woodson is playing on their HOCO and I believe they will be motivated to beat the Stallions this week.

When in doubt, believe in Aidan Dash!

Go Cavs

CLASS 6 STATE PLAYOFF FORMAT REVISED BY VHSL AS OF OCTOBER 13, 2023.
(So much for Friday the 13th...)

In state semifinals December 2nd, Region 6A champion will play Region 6C champion, and Region 6B and Region 6D winners will square off. Apparently, this is a change approved by the VHSL from a request by Class 6 officials.

That’s interesting, but not surprised. VHSL has a history of randomly switching things up and making nobody aware, a lot of changes are happening for basketball too

No idea who’s in which Region. Is there a list with current standings of each region you could provide please.

If you go to page 1 of this forum there’s a list of all the teams in each region. When they beat Soco and West Springfield, Woodson will sneak into the playoffs and possibly go all the way. So for the semi-finals, expect to see Woodson at Highland Springs and Madison vs. Freedom.

VHSL really, really wants a Highland Springs vs Freedom final and this is the only way for that to happen. Those two are the two best teams in Class 6, but making this decision on 10 Oct is BS and really makes it that much harder for the teams in C & D (not that they really stood a good chance in a final against either). For a C or D team to win a final they have to beat both-tall order.

Spot on here, no FFX team can compete with Freedom or Highland Springs so they snuck that in

I don't have any problem with cross-bracketing or re-seeding. But it seems a bit unsportsmanlike and manipulative to make a change like this mid-season. It's pretty unseemly and really makes you wonder about VHSL as an organization. If the balance of power shifts in the next five years are they going to switch it back? Will they change mid-season if a surprise power team develops in a particular season? Who thought this was a good idea?

Man, what a time to be a CAVS fan. We truly have the best QB in the state. Aidan Dash is a QB that big time schools are missing out on. I could see him going D1, I mean what’s there to dislike about the guy. He’s tall, strong, athletic, and apparently he’s a great student athlete. That’s a guy you want representing your school. Aidan Dash is going to continue to make some noise this week, be ready for a big performance against SoCo.

Hell YEAH. Glad someone finally sees what I see in Aidan Dash. He truly is a gunslinger. Too bad he has been convicted of reckless driving several times. I would hate to see his play affected by getting into trouble with the law.

except he over throws his receivers by 10 yards, jumps when he throws and only scores against other teams back ups… But tell us more about how he’s a D1 qb. I don’t even think Henderson would agree with that lmao

Who is out? I can’t imagine Chantilly winning 21-6 if Cville is missing just 1 guy

No Northern VA team playing in the class 6 final for how many years in a row before they switch back to 6A vs 6B & 6C vs 6D ??

Class 6A is by far the toughest region to win! Dale, Manchester, HS & even Smith may ALL be better than any 6C/D team.

It just won't seem right without Centreville, Westfield or likely Smith not playing in Charlottesville in December !

CVHS QB starter Will Shields, will be either Tyson Mack or maybe Elijah Houser.

Madison can beat any of those teams. Top 3 in 6 is Highland Springs, Freedom-W, Madison.

Prediction? The prediction is Coach Morgan being out of a job at Oakton at the end of the year and he can take his pee wee football staff with him. Terrible coaching from head to toe. Kids are leaving because he has no idea on how to lead a team!

It will be a long, long, long time before you see either CVille or Wfields playing in Dec again.

Oakton is having a ceremony on Friday to celebrate the end of the renovations. They are also inducting a 28 people into their Hall of Fame. These include Eugene Chung, Chris Coyer and Jack Tyler. Also; Caroline Coyer and the 2012 state title team are also getting inducted. I don't think any of them are going to like what they see on Friday. To be honest with you: the alumni have been AWOL ever since Rowley left and a lot of them have given up on the team. More information can be seen here:

now we know WHY VHSL decided to cross bracket the semifinal games!!! Maybe they should just let the northern va teams stay in their cozy minimansions in December. I don't see any Reg C or D team beating a reg A / B winner!!!

Geezuz, when was the last time Tilly beat Centreville? Jane they hit rock bottom? Does Shields survive this? Did Shields son play? I know he was hurt last week against the Bulldogs.

I was told (by a reputable source) that Shields had a high ankle sprain and they can take a while to recover from-my guess is he did not play. Even if he did, I still think Chantilly would have won. Centreville suffered from losing some good players (rats leaving a sinking ship?) and they are very young and small, and not the fastest team either. They were very senior heavy last year and it is hard to recover from what they lost from graduation and in the off season.

I said earlier they were looking at a 3-4 win season. Now, it looks like they will be 2-8 (NOT beating South Lakes or Madison).

I am not positive, but they would be tri-champions. With football using the power points system for playoffs it really does not matter, unlike other sports where a post-season district tournament is used to seed for the region playoffs.

Shield’s son played and was limping around. He threw for two touchdowns but played really bad and had no business being out there. They brought in a qb that has been their best WR for a few plays. I don’t now what happened to the backup one who has played before. Maybe Shields ran them off too.

Not exactly a surprise that Cville sucks. Talent. Last year they bludgeoned everyone except Madison and Stone Bridge. They graduated their entire depth chart and the few remaining players with experience jumped ship like someone else mentioned. I don’t think they have a player above 6ft. Them and Westfield will continue to be a rollercoaster of 2 year cycles as they split SYA’s feeder system. South Lakes will be a one hit wonder. VYI solely feeds Madison these days and they will continue to win the league every year. Oakton has no chance unless changes are made.

Yes SL and Mad certainly could meet again. Too early to see where they will fall in the ratings, but both will almost certainly be in the top 3, if not 1-2. That means they could meet in the 3rd round, the region final, on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. But don't count out Westfield-they are more than capable of beating either team. The region has three good teams (SL, MAD, WF) then there is a gap until the next two (W-L and McL, maybe Herndon on a good day). I don't care what the records for the second group are, they are not in the same category as the top 3 I mentioned.

This loss was an absolute fluke. South County only pulled away in the 4th quarter, it was a 28-13 game at the half. Even in the rain, Aidan Dash easily outplayed Jordan Dennis. I’m not even surprised. I knew this would happen. Dash received no help from his receivers. Sanchez with a 0 in the receptions category. DeRosa with 0 as well. Dennis just chucks the ball up and lets his receivers do the rest. Except #84. He sucks. Dash put the team on his back but it looked like the rest of the team did not even want to be out there. He is now the all-time school leader in completions. What an accomplishment. If Dash can get his teammates to buy in, they can have a huge game against West Po next week. Still feel the same about Tyson Chong, bench his ass. Anyways, I’ve said what I’ve needed to say about Aidan Dash. He is a truly unique talent and Woodson is going to miss him next year. Keep doubting him. Look back at this post when he’s making a splash on the college scene next year

Enough already. The only "site" Dash is on is QB Hit List, a pay-for-promotion site. Total BS. First thing it says is he has "good size" at 5'9". LOL! Dash is not going to play football in college unless it is D3 or NAIA-and even that is a stretch.

Week 8 Results

1. Centreville (-3) @ Chantilly
- Chantilly won 37-14, I can say I did not see that happening. Wow.

2. Lake Braddock (-10) @ West Springfield
- The Bruins win a close one, 41-37.

3. Lee (-3) @ Falls Church
- Lee wins 6-0 in OT, the Jags again fail to score.

4. Marshall @ Herndon (-17)
- Herndon won 31-28, shoutout to Marshall for fighting and Herndon bouncing back after the McLean game,

5. Mount Vernon (-15) @ Annandale
- The Majors win big, 48-14.

6. Potomac @ Freedom-Woodbridge (-45)
- Freedom won 65-0, next.

7. Robinson @ Fairfax (-21)
- Fairfax won 36-17, failing to cover. If I'm Fairfax I am worried with my team's play the last few weeks.

8. South County (-38) @ Woodson
- Stallions win big 56-13.

9. South Lakes @ Madison (-3)
- South Lakes won 12-7 in a great game. Madison led up until 8 mins in the 3rd when the Seahawks went up 9-7. I expect to see these two again in November.

10. Stone Bridge (-40) @ Independence
- The Bulldogs won, but did not cover. 43-10.

11. Stuart @ Edison (-28)
- Edison blanked JEB, 56-0.

12. Washington-Lee @ McLean (-6)
- W&L won 21-7, is it possible the Herndon loss sucked all of the life out of the Highlanders?

13. Westfield (-35) @ Oakton
- Westfield rolls, 50-13.

14. West Potomac (-7) @ T.C. Williams
- The Wolverines won 35-15 and the Titans are new starring down a 0-10 barrel.

Week 9

Power Point standings after this week’s slate, some interesting stuff if you break down head to head, opponents, etc. Lee and Chantilly won and are both on the outside looking in… Interesting. Clearly, Region D (as we all knew) is stronger:

Region C:
1. Lake Braddock (31.88)
2. South County (29.63)
3. West Springfield (28.63)
4. Edison (28.38)
5. Fairfax (27.13)
6. West Potomac (24.38)
7. Hayfield (24.00)
8. Mount Vernon (23.78)

Region D:
1. Madison (33.75)
2. South Lakes (32.50)
3. Washington-Lee (31.63)
4. McLean (31.00)
5. Herndon (30.11)
6. Westfield (28.25)
7. Langley (26.88)
8. Yorktown (26.13)

Coming of a wedding weekend guys so bare with me. Here we go with Week 9:

1. Annandale (-5) @ Lee
- Lee had to take Falls Church to OT to win, I like the Atoms on the road in a low scoring game.

2. Briar Woods @ Stone Bridge (-10)
- This is the Loudoun game of the week. Going to be highly competitive. Briar Woods comes in at 7-1 but they have not played the level of competition Stone Bridge has. The Bulldogs win by 2 possessions, late.

3. Chantilly @ Westfield (-21)
- Good win for the Chargers against Centreville, sadly for them Westfield is better.

4. Fairfax @ West Springfield (-3)
- Co game of the week. The Spartans can put their separate themselves with the best in the Patriot. Fairfax is hanging on by a thread, and in my opinion, the Spartans win big at home.

5. Falls Church @ Edison (-40)
- The same question, does Falls Church score this week? I say they don’t.

6. Hayfield (-28) @ Stuart
- Hayfield looking to keep their spot in the playoffs coming off a bye week.

7. Hylton @ Freedom-Woodbridge (-50)
- Nothing to see here guys.

8. Langley @ Washington-Lee (-15)
- Might be considered a high spread to some, but I see the Generals covering at home.

9. McLean (-35) @ Wakefield
- Tough two weeks for McLean and they will unleash that anger in Arlington, look for a running clock in the second half.

10. Oakton @ Madison (-30)
- The now defunct Outback Bowl, Oakton gets a pissed off Madison team coming off a loss. Probably going to be ugly, although Madison is not known for 35+ point wins.

11. Robinson (-3) @ T.C. Williams
- Probably the last game the Titans have a shot in this year. I like the Rams on the road, possibly by double digits.

12. South County (-6) @ Lake Braddock
- Game of the week, I will leave it at that.

13. South Lakes (-28) @ Centreville
- Centreville alumni have to be disgusted seeing this year’s team. I wasn’t expecting it either.

14. Woodson @ West Potomac (-15)
- I think the Wolverines are two scores better than Woodson, but will they cover? To be seen.

15. Yorktown (-7) @ Marshall
- Yorktown can end Marshall’s final game and playoff hopes, and that is what I expect to happen.

SoCo is a whole bunch of frauds. I might have to agree with this Cavs guy… they aren’t all that. Bruins win big.

The short answer to whether Fairfax should worry is maybe. Fairfax spotted Robo a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Robo scored on two long touchdown runs odd right tackle ( the first was on Robo’s first play from scrimmage). No one was playing outside contain on that side of the defense. After they fixed that, Fairfax slowly came back. They were down 14-10 at half, scored on their first second half possession, and never looked back. The only reason for failing to cover was a missed x point on their next to last TD, and a failure to convert a two pointer on the last. They should be worried about making a boneheaded mistake, but the quality of play is still there, though not like last season.

Last week was a bye, and the week before, they beat Woodson, but only by 21. The game was not that close, as Woodson scored a late garbage time TD against our sophomores
