This team has already done better than I thought they would this season. If they lose tonight, it's been fun and I expect big things next year.

That said, I've got my gear on and am heading to FedEx. It's the biggest game in FedEx history thus far and a win would be very, very, sweet.

I will give Haslett credit though, he's blitzing like crazy and it's working

RGIII is just ice cold right now, Alfred Morris is carrying the team

Romo the homo is going to catch all the heat for this loss and rightfully so. Throwing interceptions at crucial times. The only other one to blame was the idiot on the defensive line who hit Griffin the head near the goal line giving the Skins a first and goal helping run down the clock.

I hate the Skins. I hate Dan Snyder. I hate the typical fair weather fans that suck the team's dick on a 2 game win streak and toss them to the wolves after a loss. But, with all of that being said, you gotta give them the props this year. They got their act together and RGIII is the real deal. Give them a two years and they're going to be in the mix for a long time.

Romo fucking sucks when it counts. Too bad there isn't anyone available that could offer more, because I'd trade his ass or sign a free agent and let him ride the bench. Jerry Jones has to be sick to his stomach.

It is moments like this that make me wonder how much real news is being passed over to make room for all of the sports masturbation on the local news. I'm not sure whose fault it might be. Is it the "news" outlets and their cheap efforts at reporting combined witht their incestuous realtionships with the sports industry or is it the soft, obese, gotee and backwards cap sporting fanbase?

Not sure what planet you're from but local news teams cover the local sports teams. It has always been this way. I'd guess you're just annoyed because you either A. Don't follow sports or B. Don't like the team being covered. Judging by your holier than though attitude and blanket categorization of sports fans I'd guess both. In any case, you need to change the channel or get over it.

Have a nice day. :)

This is not the place for real news and your comment is not germaine to the thread,,,

That said, For the last three years posters who aren't fans and some who are have just unloaded venom on the team, the owner, the coaches, the draft picks, the bad signings etc,,,while a few posters took the abuse and had fun with it

Yinzer? You still out there? How'd that Steeler gear bonfire work out?

Anyway, as predicted, A NEW Era started, and will probably make this thread unnecessary in future years in this forum,,,FFXU is where you come to complain and criticise, not to praise success,,,that's not really that interesting

As a great man once said, "Know your role!"

No matter what happens next Sunday, this team is a winner

Redskins-Cowboys telecast sets record for NBC - and D.C.

Sunday night's big victory by the Washington Redskins over the Dallas Cowboys set a record for NBC prime time TV -- and that's saying something for the No. 1 show on television.

The ratings jackpot is well-deserved. The Redskins played a gutty, emotional and smart game with their stars going all out and leaving everything on the field.

...

Here's the release for NBC:

Last night’s Cowboys-Redskins game on Sunday Night Football is the highest-rated NFL regular-season primetime game ever on NBC, and the highest-rated NFL regular-season primetime game on ANY network in 15 years, according to overnight data released today by The Nielsen Company.

The game also generated the best overnight rating for any Cowboys-Redskins primetime matchup in 19 years. The Washington D.C. market had its best rating ever for a primetime NFL game.

Not a Skins fan either, dislike the Cowboys more. Not jumping on the bandwagon, but like the heck out of the job RGIII is doing. Guy is a class act and just goes to show something good can come out of the armpit of TX aka Ft Hood and Copperas Cove HS. Kudos on the win and the NFC East.

Agree with Bud Hoal. Football is treated as a religion in many parts of this country and causes as many problems. Many of the players are fat, dumb, and obnoxious just like many of the fans. And what about the homoerotic context of the whole thing? Bunch of guys going off to camp together, taking communal showers, dressing in colorful costumes? And to top it all off they name the teams after members of the Viiliage People! Indians, cowboys, iron and oil workers? And look at the names! Finds the gay meaning in these:

Packers
Rams
Oilers
Browns
Bears

Hey, to each his own, but there's no reason to be in the closet anymore.

Prediction day,,,

So all the "experts" are picking Seattle to win, mostly because of their defense

Whatever,,,

The Redskins are playing well in all three phases, offense, defense AND SPECIAL TEAMS

The Seahawks have to score points to win and they don't score a lot on the road

Or on grass

Love to see Garcon smoke Sherman for 6,,,

Washington 24

Seattle 17

In the other games

Green Bay isn't going to lose to Minn twice in two weeks, and not at home

Might even get ugly

Packers 34

Vikings 17

Houston hasn't looked great lately, and the Bengals are the favorite upset pick of the week

Not gonna happen,,,

Texans 27

Bengals 20

The Ravens are shaky, but Ray Lewis announcing his retirement was a challenge to the team to make a run

It works for one week,,,

Ravens 24

Colts 17

If the Redskins lose, these will be the last picks of the season,,,

See you next week

Seahawks, their fans and much of the media seem really confident they will beat the Redskins. I hope not. Think it comes down to turnovers. The Seahawks are really good though and I'm not liking the Skins chances with RG3 running half speed. Defense has to step up big.

I think the Seahawks are the better team. They're better on defense and their offense can hang some points on people. That being said, they have never travelled east well. For that reason, I think it'll be close and give it to the skins by a FG.

Well, after spending my holiday in Seattle of all places and watching them run over the 9ers and beat the Rams, I can honestly say that the Seahawks are one good football team. That being said, they are a much different team on the road.

These teams are very well matched. Both have great RBs and mobile QBs with accurate arms. I give a slight edge in QB play to Wilson because Bob is not at 100%. And I give a slight edge to Morris over Lynch.

I hate sounding like a broken record but, it's been a proven formula...this game will be decided on 2 things. Alfred Morris and Seattle's defense. If the Redskins can run the ball like they did against DAL last week, chew clock and finish drives with TDs and keep Seattle's offense off the field, I just don't see how Seattle can win. If however Seattle forces a lot of 3 and outs and controls time of possession then it's their game.

As for the Redskins' defense...D-Hall had a great game shutting down Dez Bryant last week and should have received a bit more praise. I still don't like the guy and wouldn't want to pay him to play on my team, but he shut down an important part of the Dallas offense and all of the previous penalties, tantrums and unprofessionalism don't change that. I certainly hope Haslett knows he can't blitz Wilson the way they blitzed Romo last week. If they do, he'll pick up yards on the ground.

Simply put, if the Redskins control time of possession and get career games from RG3, Morris, Garcon, Moss, Rob Jackson, London Fletcher, D-Hall and Kai Forbath...they can and will win this game. Score early fellas and get the crowd in the fucking game!

Redskins 21
Seattle 17

Good write up as always Redskins Jihadist. Agree with Jimmy the Greek, I don't like it when the Skins get the love, prefer to be the underdog.

Tom Brady had a hard time vs the Hawks pass defense, RG3 will too. Redskins have to run the ball to win.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's all gravy. The Skins have had a great season and any fan should be proud of what they've acomplished, even if they do lose to the Seahawks.

Thanks, pal. And yeah...nobody had this team winning another game 7 weeks ago much less making the playoffs, much less hosting a playoff game. Of course, I want them to win Sunday but...if they must lose, I will simply hope they do so playing their best football.

RGIII is playing at half speed if that. Defense has let the Seahwaks score 17 points in the 2nd quarter. Not seeing a win this time!

Seattle has 'Skins beat everywhere but the scoreboard. Last drive was a total fail. Kyle better put Cousins in if he wants to give the 'Skins a chance to win.

RGIII is not playing well now that Seattle has figured out he's not a threat running the ball,,,

He needs to hit a big play and get on a roll

The defense can't hold much longer,,,

Outclassed by a better team.

Hopefully this doesn't surprise anybody. After all, the "winning streak" consisted of beating a bunch of bad teams. (With the possible exception of Baltimore -- but they're really only good at home.)

Sell the team to some other city along with the Wizards and the Caps, make it a package deal. Three losers for the price of one. They would fit in with some loser city like Toledo. The Nats get one more chance other than that DC doesnt need another choke team.

Can't hate on RGIII. He got us here. But Shanny overplayed him. Cousins was an acceptable alternative but the Shannies wouldn't do it. And listening to that whining bitch Aikman was torture. He hates the Skins so much it drips with every word. The Seahawks were ripe for a take down (as the 1st quarter attested), but RGIII just didn't have the knee to do it. But Aikman was having a love affair with the Seahawks. Still hasn't forgiven Lavar for ending his career.

The worst thing that could have happened and that was scoring 14 points in the first quarter. They got lazy after that and neglected the running game for some reason.

Tough loss and hope the knee injury doesn't require surgery. Too bad RG3 wasn't pulled earlier. But hey, eight games ago the press was claiming Shanahan wrote off the season, good turnaround.

Ok, let's clear this up right now...

RG3 has a 1st Degree knee sprain. That type of injury will fully heal and give him 100% of the use of his knee within a few weeks, assuming he's not overdoing it and is staying with his therapy regimen.

I don't know if you can fault Shanahan for not pulling RG3 earlier in the game. What professional athlete in a big game is going to answer with anything but, "I'm fine, coach..." when asked how they feel? Kurt Schilling and the bloody sock, anyone?

The real second guessing is...Should we have kept the draft picks and selected Russell Wilson instead of RG3?

Good question. I like the kid. In fact, he's about the only guy on the Seahawks that I do like. I think Griffin is the better QB but it's interesting that Wilson does a lot of the same things as RG3, with all the running and stuff, but seems to protect himself better. Robert could probably learn a few things from watching his play. Like get out of bounds earlier, don’t slow up when you’re trying to get out of bounds, etc.

If Robert keeps playing the way he did this season, he will not have a long career. I doubt they will try to turn him into a pocket passer and I doubt he will lose his instinct to run but if he keeps playing the position the way he has, he will not have a long career.

As coach, you are supposed to do what is in the best interests of the team to win a game. It seemed Roberts whole game was comprised by the injury, that was the first game he looked like a bona-fide rookie, big sacks, interceptions, inaccurate throws, etc. Its was OBVIOUS he needed to be pulled because he wasnt even being a good pocket passer, something he is capable of doing.

Point being, there was no upside to keeing Robert in, they were not going to win with him in there playing injured. However, maybe with Cousins or even Rex back there with a half a game left, they could could've put up 10 more points and made it more of game. I think Rex would have done just fine for half a game. At least with a half a game they could set up the run and play action. But with 6min in the 4th its a no brainer for the Seahawks Coordinator how to play out the game.

RGIII's knee injury will present big problems for the rest of his career in DC. Defenses will be keying on the knee to knock RGIII out of the game. I predict that next season he will injured in third week of the regular season and will be out with a torn ACL for the season. He will return in 2014, but won't be the QB he was in his rookie year. He will continue to play, be injured , play at 50%, be injured, for the next couple of years until he is finally traded.
