Plan and simple the 'skins played like crap today. Yes, there were a lot of dropped balls. But it looked like a high school team was playing a professional team. And Deangelo Hall is an idiot! I can say with confidence the 'skins will have a losing season again this year! Maybe in 2014 the 'skins will have a winning season! (Next year will be a rebuilding year!)

Now that we're at the half way point of the season, where do the Redskins stand?
Probably about where we all thought,,, but not for the reasons we thought,,
Everyone expected RGIII to play like a rookie, and he's played like an ALL PRO,,
The offensive line was suppose to be a weakness, but they've played well, and Trent has become the player we hoped for when he was drafted,,,
We expected the defense to be as good or better than last year, and they're not even close,,,
Special teams is a weakness
I don't expect any changes until the off season other than working in some young guys for experience,,
This team will probably get better towards the end of the season and end up 6-10 or at best 7-9,,,
I'll probably be satisfied if they beat Dallas on Thanksgiving,,,

My gift to the coaching staff. With eight minutes to go, down by two scores and the clock running you find no need to hurry up in the huddle nor do you call out patterns where you can stop the clock. You call short plays in the middle of the field. I stand by my 4-12 prediction. You deserved to lose.

I have to strongly agree on the clock mis management issues,,
This problem has been going on for years,,,
EDIT: It really wouldn't have mattered today though, the Steelers were better, tougher and weren't going to lose to this team period...

Of course they have to jettison Haslett--they just signed him to a contract extension about a month ago. Haslett is just like most players that have come through the doors in Ashburn over the past 10+ years--get the big contract and get complacent.
By the way, am I the only person in the "DMV" who wouldn't be unhappy to see "Me Hall" released tomorrow?

I worry more about games like this than when the Redskins play teams with winning records
For one thing, the Panthers are going to bring their best effort because Washington looks like one of their best chances on the schedule to get a win
And Washington's defense gets offenses excited
Carolina's defense knows how to rush the passer and will make trouble all day
Losing to a one win team would basically show that for all the changes the Redskins have made, nothing has really improved
If the defense looks like crap again, then Haslett may be history, and Raheem will have the bye week to try and make some changes

Five yard cushions by the defensive backs on every play, their opponents would be crazy not to take advantage of it. I might have been generous in my 5-11 prediction. Again with the poor use of the clock by Shanahan. Seven minutes to go and they walk back to the huddle, around six minutes they started to pick up the pace but time was wasted again by short passes and running plays in the middle of the field.

So, RG3 gets lit up again...why is it when he gets hit the announcers say, "Well...that's the risk you take when you run around like RG3 does..." but when it's Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, or Aaron Rodgers they say, "You just can't hit a man like that after they've already stepped out of bounds. That player should be thrown out of football forever for a hit like that."

You don't have to get a 3 and out on every possession, but you have to make stops and take away the deep ball over the top. A big part of defense is desire. In fairness, the Skins went into the season with a horrible secondary and were going to lean heavily on their pass rush, which has been depleted by injuries. That said, the defense has sucked under Haslett. To save his job, I'm sure Shanahan will throw him under the bus.

I also wanted to say thanks for running a nice thread, Hatemotor. In my opinion, I think there are some who are a bit hard on you for your optimism. As the thread's official/unofficial moderator I don't think there's anything wrong with taking the attitude of, "I'm going to propose a scenario under which the Redskins can win each week..." If you started that week's game commentary by saying, "Redskins lose 24-0..." well, who wants to read that? (Whether it ends up being true or not?) Again, illustrating a scenario or "keys to the game" is not necessarily the same as..."Hey fuckers! I'm picking the 'Skins to win EVERY week..."
Keep the faith brother. These have been hard times for DC sports outside of the Washington Kastles and DC United (perhaps not really sports...). It's not just the losing, it's how devastating the losses have been (Nationals, I'm lookin' at you...) and how long it's gone on (Capitals, Wizards, and Redskins I'm lookin' at you...).
Is it worse to be the Chicago Cubs who last won the World Series 104 years ago and haven't had too many competitive teams since? Or the Washington Capitals who have NEVER won the Stanley Cup in 38 years and never seem to run out of ways to destroy our dreams of ever doing so?

like i mentioned in one of my earlier post they pretty much gave up the future of the team to get this guy (RG III). as we all know now there are too many other holes that needs to be filled on this team and they wont be able to fill them coz they don't have the picks the next few years to do it. now you tell me if he was worth it? i personally don't think so Running Quarterbacks Will Not Succeed in the NFL too bad the Shanahans didn't know that.

This weeks game against the Eagles is a game that may change my whole opinion on the Redskins "progress" over the last 3 years under Shanahan,,,
The Eagles have completely given up on Andy Reid, they are basically showing up and cashing checks
And Vick looks like he's out
The Redskins will likely face Foles this weekend in his first NFL start, but Shanahan's record against ROOKIE Qbs sucks,,,
If the Redskins manage to lose to the Eagles AT HOME, then I think Shanahan has to go at the end of the season
Washington needs to find the right coach while RGIII is still young, giving Shanahan another year just because he has a rookie Qb doesn't mean it will get THAT MUCH better next year,,,look at Carolina

Meriweather out for the year with right ACL.
It's almost comical. Shame, he had a noticeable impact when he was on the field (for a full three quarters!), the D-line could blitz with secondary confidence. Back to Doughty and Gnomes and terrible defense.

They got lucky, you simply cannot set on a lead in the third quarter. Poor tackling and running the ball out of bounds when you are trying to run the clock down isn't a good idea.
