Not a day goes by this off-season that doesn't have an RGIII "story" on Nfl.com, profootballtalk or espn,,,and of course the Post,,,

By the time the season starts every team the Redskins play is going to be looking to prove RGIII is a bunch of hype,,,you never hear a damn thing about Luck and the Colts,,,

The media badly wants the Redskins and RGIII to be a big story this season one way or another,,,they are ready to sing his praises but just as ready to start calling him a bust by week 3,,,

Nobody really is willing to wait for him to learn the game, it's turning into a win now atmosphere,,,

This is way scarier than any injury RGIII could get,,,

This would be a career ender,,,,

It will be interesting to see what this is about and how fast the media will turn on RGIII IF it is anything substancial, which I doubt,,,

On the other hand, whatever the info was, there was "evidence" and the extorter believed he was going to be paid for it, so,,,

Let the speculation begin,,,

So,,,RGIII is signed BEFORE training camp to a 4 year contract,

and Fred Davis gets a 1 year deal,,,

Two sure signs the Redskins know what they're doing now,,,

Cooley is probably staying because they don't trust Davis, even though they like him,,,

Seems clear they want RGIII to have solid help at the TE position,,,

Things actually look pretty good right now

Is it too early to fire up the

This will shock everyone,,,,

Laron Landry place on Jets physically unable to participate list,,,,

Laron's decision to aviod surgery for those two straight years has probably cost him his career and millions of dollars,,,

Sad,,, he could have been a great player for years on the Redskins in Haslett's 3-4,,,

I'm assuming he avoided surgery because in all likelihood it would have been discovered that he's been using steroids. Still, whatever penalty he would have received from the NFL, he still could have played for another five or six years. Now he's done.

landrygiant0212.jpg?uuid=yzo4gF5BEeGaOCc

At least the Jets only guaranteed $700K on his contract. Not sure how IR impacts things, but they might even be able to get out of some of that.

What year are you living in?

Since Shanahan took over before the 2010 season, the Redskins have cut 150 players. Last year there were only 16 players who were on the roster in 2009 left on the 53-man roster. This year there will be even fewer. Vinny is gone. Get a clue. ;)

Finally, the first pre-season game is less than a week away,,,

The new era will officially begin

But, we still have the same issue as last year at this time, how many WR will the Redskins keep on the roster and who will they be,,,

I think we can assume Garcon, Morgan and Hankerson are locks,,,
Santana is probably safe,,

But with only two spots left open, a couple guys who made the roster last year are gone,,,Armstrong?,,,Banks?,,,,Austin?,,

Looks like they will keep 4 TE's, Cooley is probably staying, and Niles Paul is a TE now so,,,who's gonna get cut?

I wasn't going to comment on the death of Andy Reid's son, it's very sad and really doesn't have anything to do with the Redskins; but then I read this:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000046313/article/jeff-lurie-andy-reid-expected-back-at-camp-this-week?module=HP11_headline_stack

"He treasures these practices, and he feels bad he's going to not be at practice today, or probably tomorrow," Lurie said.

The Eagles begin their preseason schedule Thursday(!!!!) with a home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Wow,,,,

Hey, way to shake it off, injuries are part of the game right?

Wow,,,

Does he not realize his actions here may be a huge distraction to the team?

I wonder what his players are thinking about this,,,,

I wonder what the rest of his family thinks about this,,,

The kid hasn't even been dead 24 hrs and he already has his itinerary out for the next week,,,

wow,,,

My predictions are for amusement purposes,,,except when I'm right, like I am about the defense,,,

The Redskins defense will be a top 10 unit this year,,,

Hope to see more of RGIII next game, he looks composed back there,,,

Rex doesn't look like he cares, and is ready to take care of the clipboard,,,

Too early to have any opinion on Cousins,,,

Maybe the biggest revelation of the night was that they are wearing the yellow pants!!!

The yellow pants rule,,,

So,,,what can we take away from last nights game?

Let's start right here,,,In the immortal words of Charles Barkley "There isn't going to be a controversy, y'all just hate black people."

Kirk Cousins can put up a 1.000 yards the next two weeks, he still ain't startin,,,

RGIII has a big giant bullseye on him and he's finding out that the other team's players REALLY want to spoil his fanfare,,,

More importantly,,

>The recievers look solid, this is going to be tough come cutdown day,,,

I think A. Robinson just made the team, mostly because he play special teams too, but he looks like a keeper,,,

Santana Moss may still be able to play, but I would rather keep the young guys,,

>Orakpo's injury will allow us to see more of Jackson at LB,,,

I seriously think the Redskins should consider trading Orakpo for a true OL starter, there is no other way to get one,,,there's no draft picks to trade and he is really the only player that could get someone decent in return,,,

Trading Kerrigan is out of the question,,,

>Cooley may be in trouble after all, it's going to be hard to justify a roster position at the expense of the younger players who appear to have talent,,,

>Brandon Banks always makes a big play right when your ready to show him the door,,,

Sorry Brandon, there's the door,,,

>Grossman should end up being the #3, Cousins seems capable of holding the clipboard,,,and let's face it he's trade bait for the future,,,If RGIII goes out, getting Cousins on the field may increase his value,,,

Next week should be real intersting,,,

+1

All I'm hearing about RGIII is that he needs to go through his reads quicker and work on his accuracy. The same things they said about McNabb and Campbell. Maybe the problem isn't the QBs. Maybe the problem is the OC not calling plays that take crappy protection into account.

RG3's agent is cashing in because he knows nobody is going to be wanting this guy to endorse their products in a year or two.

Not right away, but it is possible he could start this season. Here is how... RG3 gets hurt, Rex throws a bunch of interceptions, they put captain Kirk in. Hell, they started John Beck last year. Their confidence in Grossman isn't sky high.

I would think Moss stays but Anthony Armstrong should be worried.

If they keep 3 TEs (which I think they will in order to keep 4 RBs) Cooley is the odd man out.

> Sorry Brandon, there's the door,,,

Agree. Has to make the team as a WR, which he isn’t very good at. The roster doesn’t have room for a one trick pony.

Well this beats the heck out of extremeskins.com/clown central where everyone drinks the cult-approved-arsic-kool-aid every year and acts like Rod Gardner is Jerry Rice, Portis for Bailey was a steal, and Gregg Williams is annointed the third Gibbs (thank god that didn't happen *lol*). Basically clown central.

That being said, Robert Griffin was a risky pick. Non-pro system that racked up big numbers against weak teams, pretty much the opposite of Cam Newton (pro-system and against elite competition). I personally thought Griffin's colegiate showing was a lesser version of Vince Young's, but with more impressive combine numbers & a Heismann (good thing those guys always workout, huh?). Now that we got him though, I'd love to be wrong, god I'd love to be wrong every year. But they also doubled-down on starting right-tackle Jamal Brown and it appears tbat is going to blow up in our face.

I don't see it, but if it happens I'll be the first to say Halalooya, praise god, the Redskins got a 'ringer'!

I heard Theismann on the radio say, "RG3 is the real thing, except he's never played in a pro-style offense."

How the fuck do we know he's "the real thing" if he's never executed in a pro-style system? I see Andrew Luck and he looks like Peyton Manning already. RG3 appears like another hapless stooge running for his life behind a weak Snyder-Boy O-Line and idiotic play calling by Kyle Shanahan who never saw a post route he didn't like regardless of the coverage downfield or the lack of protection at the line of scrimmage.

Prediction - RG3 will be seriously injured midway through the season and Shanahan will not be here next season.

MC- I hear ya, easiest call to make is... always go against the hype... its were the value is *lol* especially in the draft & free agency. But i'm not going to bite on the kirk cousin either.

HM- that is also why I'd pass on a Maurice-Jones Drew trade, go with runningback by committee, don't put all your eggs in one basket (if there is an injury)

JT: Theismann drinks more redskins kool-aid than anyone. Tony Kornheiser (long before the comming of RGIII) nicked named Theismann "Captain Shunshine" when he would follow his commentary on the radio. "ok, Captain Shunshine... so we shouldn't worry about the iceberg straight ahead... it will make great crushed ice for our Titanic-on-the-rocks cocktails?" If you had asked me, I could have told you Joe Thiesmanns opinion before I heard it - he's ga-ga about him, right?

B: I got no problem with it, but it does seem we are trying hard, we have traded a fortune for three starting black QBs now *lol* hmmm,

GR: well I do think you have to play that hand out now, for better or for worst. That's the problem with over-investing you're locked in. We did it with Campbell too, and stuck with him a long time to make sure he wasn't the real thing.

That being said I think RGIII could work, I just think it was risky with the move up & price. I guess we'll see, ah sports, the first reality tv show.

Running back by committee only works if you have a decent line making holes,,,no such luck here,,,

A REAL big time back would keep the defenses honest and less likely to blitz as much,,MJD probably wouldn't put up the same numbers as in JAX though,,,

Cooley, Paulsen, and Niles Paul can fill the void left by Davis, MJD is a HUGE upgrade over what we have now,and we probably wouldn't need to carry 4 RB's on the roster,,

JAX would probably want more but a big time TE would help Gabbert more than MJD simply because they seem to have a good replacement for him,,,

That said, I don't think Washington will get involved, and MJD will go to a contender if traded,,,

top 10? lol. The eagles and giants have a better defense. Watching the bears basically bitch slap the 1st string oline was laughable. RG3 isnt going to survive the divisional games. te giants or eagles will lay the smack down upon bob griffin the 3rd.

HM- I hear ya, it is hard to get around the offensive line holding the Redskins back, and trading for Jacksonville holdout runningback, Maurince Drew-Jones, would be a quick fix to take some heat off of RGIII without having to revamp the whole line. But there is no position like runningback, where youth and green legs can thrive right off the bat, like it does at runningback (and no other position like runninback, where they hit the wall harder, quicker career-wise than runningback). I'd roll the dice on younger & cheaper RBs with better cap numbers in the future, than trade & premium-pay for MJD on his seventh season. Those first six years at runningback are the premium years & less injured years.

That being said, I think you are right on with it doesn't look like its going to happen here anyway, and that a contender is the best bet.

I think Cousins is actually on the right side of all this. He gets to sit and carry a clipboard and have time to learn to the offense without the pressure. Meanwhile RGIII is learning on the job while running around and getting the shit knocked out of him. Wouldn't surprise me if Cousins ends up being the better of the two quarterbacks by 2014

It was just the Colts, but the Redskins looked good

BY FAR the biggest improvement on the team is the receiving corp,,,

Dezmon Briscoe is a weapon that must be kept,,,even if it means cutting Santana,,, or anyone else

He is the type of WR that gets himself open and is the biggest threat in the red zone,,,he has size and experience

Honestly, he may be the best receiver on the team

Gano dropped for Cundiff? First move this year I'm not sure I agree with. Perhaps that's just because Cundiff still has the stink of the Ratbirds and Cowturds on him but I don't know.

I would rather see Santana get cut than Cooley, there are talented players to replace him at least,,,if Davis gets hurt or gets high the depth isn't there at the TE position,,,

What can I say, when you're right, you're right! :)

I like the guy but he's been injured for two years, slow for three, and wasn't worth anywhere near what he was getting to be a backup. I imagine Cooley will end up on radio and/or tv. Maybe he can replace Sam Huff.

I liked the look of Alfred Morris. This team has been horrible in the redzone, because they haven't had a runningback who can grind out hard short yards. And wow, did this guy hit the lines with multiple people grapling him and drag behind him as he always fell forward a good 3 or 4 yards. And even on occasion punched through all them and broke loose. Indy's run defense isn't much, but it was promising from a rookie.

The problem with the Redskins is that Shanahan's play-action pass based offense is DOA. It used to make sense when the running game was everything and you had John Elway about to outrun 300 lbs defensive ends in a 4-3.

Those days are done. Most running backs don't scare defenses these days and a good 3-4 is designed to have LBs run down a bootlegging QB before he can wreak havoc.

Patriots under Brady and Colts under Manning were built on the short passing game, something Kyle Shanahan apparently loathes. With the short passing game, defenses are forced to bring up their corners to cover TEs and slot receivers in the event LBs give up a hole in zone coverage. This eventually leads to man coverage on the outside as WRs make a break downfield.

The Shanahans' system depends on a great running back, which the Skins have not had, and an O-Line that gives the QB time to go through several reads, something else the Skins don't have. Simply said, the Shanahans are running an outdated system. The Skins will have another losing record this year and, Lord willing, will be sent to greener pastures for 2013.

Can't imagine there is really much left to be decided on the final roster cuts,,

It will give some guys a chance to get noticed and picked up by other teams

There may still be another surprise or two on friday's cut down day,,,

Looks like the Cundiff for Gano swap may have been a mistake,,,

Anyway, the only thing left to be decided is the receiving roster,,,

I think Briscoe has elevated himself above Hankerson,,,still like Hankerson but Briscoe is better,,,

My roster picks would be:

1) Garcon
2) Morgan
3) Briscoe
4) Hankerson
5) Moss
6) Armstrong

*) Robinson

Brandon Banks just doesn't actually score touchdowns in the regular season and is bound to get hurt,,,

I'd get rid of Santanna but he can return punts, his best days as a receiver are behind him and we need players for the future to get playing time this season,,

So,,,we have a final roster now

Actually looks pretty good too,,, Only have two real glaring weaknesses left

O line and secondary

There are now less than 10 players left from when Shanny took over,,,

Lorenzo Alexander, B.Orakpo, Fred Davis, London Fletcher, D.Hall, Rob Jackson and Chris Wilson,,,

If that's not a total rebuild I don't know what is

It's also been about 3 years since Dan Snyder has done any real meddling, so I think he's off the hook for any of the teams failures on the field at this point,,,

2-1

>Redskins offense will finish in the top 15,,,

>Gano will miss at least one field goal every week,,well he will if he finds a new team,,,

>Redskins will have two 1,000 yard receivers,,,

>There will be a 1,000 yard rusher,,,

>Chris Cooley will be back! Probably on the Fan with Dukes and Lavar,,,

Great start to the season for RG3 and the Skins. No one, I mean no one, gave them a shot to win against the almighty Saints and they basically dominated the game. I’ll also add that the O-Line looked fairly solid. Trent Williams had a great game.

I think the win was mostly due to the element of surprise. That will go away after 3-4 games and RG3 will come back down to earth. Still think they get 3-4 more wins than last year.

The thing I like about this team is that they are so young. They don’t remember losing. They don’t remember Zorn. They don’t remember failure. It’s a new era indeed.

This weeks predictions,,,

The Rams are a team the Redskins should really be able to beat up on,,that's why it won't happen,,,these teams always play each other tough

The Redskin's defense will be the stars of this game, a couple of big plays will probably be the differance and seal the deal,,,

On offense, Morris will get a 100 yard game while they grind out a ball control game plan,,,I don't expect Washington to show a lot against the Rams, they'll save some secrets for the home opener and division foes,,,

Redskins 24

Rams 17

The Eagles will be sharp this week after looking like the 2nd worse team in the league in the opener,,,

But the RAvens are just a better team,,,

Ravens 34

Eagles 27

Dallas should be able to handle the Seahawks with ease if they play like they did last week, but it's in Seattle and the Cowboya probably won't be that fired up,,,

Dallas D is just to much for a rookie though

Cowboys 24

Seahawks 10

Upset game of the week

I don't actually think it's an upset but Atlanta will crush Denver,,,,

Falcon 34

Denver 20

So bad it's interesting game of the week

Colts and Vikings,,,Luck's best chance to get a win until they play the Jaguars,,,

These predictions are absolutely FREE!!!

Skins still have no defense. Last week the 'Skins defense almost gave the game to the Saints, and yesterday they gave the game to the Rams. There is no way the 'Skins will have a winning season if the defense consistently allow teams to come back from large deficits!

My prediction, the 'Skins will be 9-7 this year, and will miss out on the playoffs when the defense allows the Cowboys to come from behind and win the game in the final two minutes on December 30.

Maybe next year, no wait 2014, nevermind. As long as Synder is still involved with the team they will never go to the Superbowl. The Jack Kent Cooke curse is still in effect until 2025.

"I did call Vegas and now I am broke because of you!"

That's why Vegas loves me,,,,

But don't worry! You can make it all back tonight on my Falcons pick!

Honestly though, even after watching the games yesterday, I would make the same picks again,,so many times these teams on the losing end just self destructed with dumb mistakes,,,blocked punts, dropped passes, bad defense etc,,,

The second week of the season is always when these type of upsets occur,,,
The first four weeks are high times for the pretenders,,,

Anyone wanna take the Cardinals to win their division or the Patriots to win theirs?

And everyone expected Washington to be 1-1 after two weeks, and they are

I actually don't expect the Redskins to really "gell" until week 6 or so,,,
There are going to be some roster moves,,,

Brandon Banks is not the threat he's made out to be and should be cut,,,

D. Briscoe has to be worked into the lineup more,he is the red zone threat the Redskins can rely on,,,

Not sure what can be done about the O-line at this point,,,we need a couple BIG MEAN guys with attitude,,

Unless the Redskins can put constant pressure on the QB, the secondary is toast,,and everyone knows it

The good news is, RGIII looks like he's the player we hoped for, and was worth the picks,,,hopefully he makes it through the season behind this oline,,,

So the home opener is here, and the Redskins are down a bunch of starters,,,

And Garcon isn't going to play either,,,

This is as close to a must win game as you can have this early in the season,,,

If they can beat a good Bengals team at home they should have the confidence to compete and stay the course,,,if the defence looks bad again, then there is going to be turmoil,,,if a another punt gets blocked, it's going to get UGLY,,,

Patience my ass, Redskin's fans will want blood

And it will be Snyder's fault,,,just because

At this point I'm hoping for a good enough record to assure the Rams don't get a top 10 pick in next years draft,,,

Predictions:

Redskins will have a few surprises ready on offense but will probably try to run the ball to keep the Bengals O off the field,,,

Hopefully Briscoe gets some field time in the red zone,,,

The defense will play more man and blitz like crazy,,

No blocked punts,,

Redskins 27

Bengals 24

Cowboys have the Buccaneers at home in a game they should win,,,

Dallas doesn't respond well to these type of situations,,

Tampa's new hard nose attitude prevails over the Cowboy's cupcake offense,,,

Cowboys will be lookig for a new Head coach soon,,,

Buccaneers 34

Cowboys 17

Eagles travel to Arizona in a battle of unbeatens,,,

Philly plays every team close, no matter how bad they are

I don't know how good the Cardinals are, but their defense is tough,,

I'd love to see Kolb beat his former team after all the crap he's taken since the trade,,,

Love prevails,,,

Cardinals 24

Eagles 17

This weeks games of very little interest:

Indy v Jax,,,Luck gets to have a winning record for a week,,,

Browns v Bills...who wins? who cares,,,

As always, I recommend taking all your money out of savings, cash out your stocks and raid the kids college fund so you can bet every penny on these picks

Call Vegas,,,

May be, but I bet he gets way more, beautiful and younger pussy than what you probably jerk off to -- your old, ugly mother.

The Redskins still may end up losing this game, but when's the last time you can remember them coming back to tie a game after 17 unanswered points?

The team is showing character and starting to define themselves as a hard nosed smash mouth type team, esp A. Morris,,,

I know a lot of fans are dreading the tough schedule coming up, but you get good playing good teams,,,

Pretty clear that the Redskins difficiencies in the secondary and along the O-line are going to make it tough to put up W's,,,

We can only hope for continued impeovement in the areas of strenghth and pray for some big plays to even things out,,,

When's the last time you saw a team at their opponents 19 yard line with 1st and 10 and ended up 4th and 50 from their own 40. With the game on the line!! Redskins are a joke. Did you see RGIII's TD celebration - he is so gay!! But what do you expect from someone who wears a white glove on his left hand to honor Michael Jackson!

I stand by my 4-12 prediction. As long as the defensive backs give a five to ten yard cushion opposing teams would be foolish not to take advantage of it.

The refs are a joke. The clock management by the crew took away at least 20 full seconds costing the Redskins a shot at the game to end it. The Bengals being on the field prior to the game ending is an automatic PF for 15 yards. The game wasn't over. The coaches had to tell the refs how to do their job and got a flag for it! On top of that, per NFL, the replacement refs took off 25 yards instead of the 20 yards (15 yrd penalty + 5 yrd false start) which made it 4th down and 50.

I won't even go into all the other ways the Redskins were screwed by the refs yesterday.

The Redskins may suck, but the replacement refs need to go.

I'm having more fun watching the redskins loose this year than ever before.

Ill take it.

Remeber Jason Cambell? Tony Banks? Danny Woefull.

I was an RGIII doubter, especially because of the price tag, but I'm starting to have a bit more faith in the senior Shan.

After three weeks there's Good News and Bad News,,,,

Good News: The offense is scoring 30 pts a game!

Bad News: So is every team that plays us,,,

Good News: Our old buddy Laron Landry has played all three games this season for the Jets!

Bad News: The 2 guys we brought in to play safety haven't played any,,,

Good News: Trent Williams is day to day!

Bad News: He's been day to day since we drafted him and hasn't played all 16 games in a season yet (and won't this year either),,,

Good News: RGIII is a true franchise QB,,,

Bad News: The O-line will assure he doesn't finish the season on the field, hopefully Cousins is a pro too,,,

Good News: The Eagles and Cowboys suck!

Bad News: That makes three of us, the Giants must be feeling pretty good,,,
