Glad you didn't respond to the topic on hand bc you have nothing legitimate to say.

Does writing it in all caps make you triumphant?

So there is no further confusion: the school was named after the beaulevard and you couldn't even get that right?

Been a long time since 2007 buster, almost a decade….
====

If that is the case… 14 straight playoffs, two state championships… and only around for 15 years... will compare with any Northern Region team with 3 State wins… Even your hated southern 'cheater' teams only have 2… (notice you haven't talked about Hylton as being cheaters… and only one with three wins)

We’re quickly winding down to postseason time. Should be quite a few good games this Friday. I must say it’s sad not to be more excited for the Westfield-Centreville game. That has been such a wonderful series over the past several years.

Chantilly @ Briar Woods (-6.0)
*Upset Alert for the Chargers. Briar Woods has been losing steam the past couple weeks, but no one has played a tougher schedule in the region, and with a bye week the following Friday for the Falcons I look for a strong effort. Chantilly is coming off their best win of the season and with big showdowns coming up between Centreville and Westfield this would be a great win for them if they come in focused and ready to go. Could go either way, lets just put it this way this is not a typical 5-2 team vs a 2-6 team game.

Falls Church @ Edison (-7.0)

Hayfield (-17.0) @ Yorktown

Langley @ South Lakes (-14.0)
*South Lakes is the better team but Langley could give them trouble.

Lee (-14.0) @ Jefferson
*I can’t believe I’m putting this Lee team as a two touchdown favorite.

Madison (-21.0) @ Fairfax

Marshall (-7.0) @ Wakefield
*Game of the Week: Capital Conference Championship Game. I’m not saying the talent level is high and this is the weakest conference by multiple miles, but for these schools a conference championship is a big deal and this game should be pretty even.

Mount Vernon @ Woodson (-15.0)

Oakton @ Broad Run (-17.0)

South County (-28.0) @ Annandale

Stone Bridge (-7.0) @ Tuscarora
*Stone Bridge is coming on strong, look for a big Bulldog win on the road.

Stuart @ Potomac Falls (-56.0)
*This will get ugly fast.

Washington-Lee (-10.0) @ McLean

West Springfield @ Lake Braddock (-6.0)
*The most talent on the field in Fairfax County this week. I’d be surprised though if the Bruins don’t win.

Westfield (-20.0) @ Centreville
*Centreville may keep it closer in a heated rivalry game, but on paper Westfield is 4 TDs better.

Robinson (-25.0) @ Herndon

West Potomac (-10.0) @ TC Williams

Chantilly @ Briar Woods (-6.0)

I really have to disagree on this one. Everyone has been saying good things about Briar Woods all season but all they have done is lose and lose badly lately. I think Chantilly wins this one easily.

Stone Bridge (-7.0) @ Tuscarora

Yep. I also think SB will win. Probably a close game but Tuscarora won't be able to produce yet another end of game magic in this one.

Thanks for coming out with the lines. This is one of my favorite posts, but I have to ask, what took so long.

I'll offer up my opinions
>
> Falls Church @ Edison (-7.0)

I look for Edison to win and cover, but not by much.
>
> Hayfield (-17.0) @ Yorktown

I get the sense that Yorktown is fading and Hayfield is coming on, after have two early season losses. I think Hayfield wins and covers.
>
> Langley @ South Lakes (-14.0)
> *South Lakes is the better team but Langley could
> give them trouble.

I agree with you that Langley is better than their record indicates. South Lakes should win, but I don't think they will cover.
>
> Lee (-14.0) @ Jefferson
> *I can’t believe I’m putting this Lee team as
> a two touchdown favorite.

I totally get your reluctance here, but it's TJ. I think Lee wins and covers.
>
> Madison (-21.0) @ Fairfax

Madison is clearly the class of Conference 6, and I think they are going to win out. Provided they don't take Fairfax too lightly, I look for Madison to win and cover. About Fairfax, they haven't been favored since Woodson, and not only have they lost every game since then, every opponent has covered your spread. Frankly, I don't understand why they are so bad this year. They have a lot of depth on their roster, and last year's JV team racked up some fairly impressive victories down the stretch.

Marshall is a great story this season. Marshall wins and covers
>
> Mount Vernon @ Woodson (-15.0)

Woodson wins, but they don't cover. Didn't they lose 61 to nothing last week? I think Woodson ekes out a win, but only because they are the home team, and they are playing Mt. Vernon.
>
> Oakton @ Broad Run (-17.0)

This spread is about right. I'll take Broad Run to cover, but barely
>
> South County (-28.0) @ Annandale

I think this spread is too high. South County wins, but doesn't cover.
>
> Stone Bridge (-7.0) @ Tuscarora
> *Stone Bridge is coming on strong, look for a big

I'll go with Tusky here.
>
> Stuart @ Potomac Falls (-56.0)
> *This will get ugly fast.

I agree this will get ugly, but I just can't give 56 points.
>
> Washington-Lee (-10.0) @ McLean

WL is on a two game winning streak, but McLean seems to be getting closer to their first W. Since McLean is the home team, I'll take WL to win, but not cover.
>

I think the Bruins win and cover.

Westfield wins and covers.

I think West Po wins by two TDs

> Chantilly @ Briar Woods (-6.0)
I’m rolling with Chantilly. Sure, BW is better than their record indicates but they have been playing pretty bad as of late. Chantilly 31-21
> Falls Church @ Edison (-7.0)
Edison 23-17, pretty bad game.
> Hayfield (-17.0) @ Yorktown
Hayfield will have the best player on the field and that will be the different. Hayfield 40-24
> Langley @ South Lakes (-14.0)
Like I said last week, SL is much improved and moving in the right direction but their schedule did them some huge favors early in the season. Madison physically beat them down and that is what Langley does best. Give me Langley with the minor upset. 24-21
> Lee (-14.0) @ Jefferson
Who cares… Lee 35-14
> Madison (-21.0) @ Fairfax
Fairfax is reallllly bad. Madison 42-8
> Marshall (-7.0) @ Wakefield
Imagine this game back in 2012… Wakefield 30-28
> Mount Vernon @ Woodson (-15.0)
Will these team have new coaches next year? Woodson 38-23
> Oakton @ Broad Run (-17.0)
Oakton is well coached and that will keep them in it. But Broad Run should be pissed off. BR 34-20
> South County (-28.0) @ Annandale
SC via death by onside kicks. 44-17
> Stone Bridge (-7.0) @ Tuscarora
Game of the Week in my eyes. SB still the king of Loudoun 33-27
> Stuart @ Potomac Falls (-56.0)
> *This will get ugly fast. Agreed. 62-7

> Washington-Lee (-10.0) @ McLean
McLean finally got some guys healthy! Should be a close one but WL will win 21-13. Good news for McLean is they still have Fairfax on the schedule.
> West Springfield @ Lake Braddock (-6.0)
WS just too inconsistent this year. You never know which WS you’re going to get. I’ll take Braddock 35-17.
> Westfield (-20.0) @ Centreville
Centreville isn’t very good. Westfield takes this 31-14.
> Robinson (-25.0) @ Herndon
The Route has already begun. Robinson 56-7
> West Potomac (-10.0) @ TC Williams
If TC had the ability to put up points, I’d give them a chance but their offense hasn’t produced all year. I’ll Take West Po 24-12.

So the burning question of the day is: how has steve k2* been doing this year in his picks? I took the time to go back and check and below is what I found:

Picked winner outright: 96-20
Winner covered the spread: 61-54-1

I think I'm going to have to go with the Chargers on this one.

South Lakes wins and covers.

If Lee doesn't cover this one . . .

Not enough points on that spread. Woodson wins by 4 tds.

Broad Run covers that.

South County by 35.

I'm going with Stone Bridge to cover.

This will be a boat race. Probably from the opening kick.

W-L covers that.

Since I can't 'em both to lose . . . I'll take LB but they won't cover it.

Westfield wins but doesn't cover the 20.

might not be enough. Herndon is a bad, bad team.

West Potomac is getting back to their productive selves we saw early on. They win and cover.

I know its not varsity but.....the future is looking rather bleak for the wildcats after the ass whippin they freshman got last night. looks like the qb cannot live up the legend his parents have said he would be. I guess that was a real deflating experience to the very over inflated ego. thePresley/griffin show didn't fair to well huh? there are many other players on the bench that could do just as good if not better....sad freshman football is full of politics and all the kids don't get a fair shot.

Young Mr. Egbers may not play on Sunday, may never even play on Saturday, but he will be a very nice high school QB and Cville is lucky to have him.

My team not playing tonite so went to see the Westfield Centreville game. Westfield won 20-12. Holy cow though - not sure what anyone sees in Westfield. Centreville fumbled about 20 times and even still had a chance to tie with a missed pass in the end zone. Westfield better play a whole lot better or there is no way they get out of the North or if they do they will lose to a Beach time by 30 or more points. Why all the hype with this team?

Westfield no where near the quality of the Centreville and Oakton and Lake Braddock teams that have gotten out of the North the last 7-8 years. Just face it Bulldogs.

Chantilly @ Briar Woods (-6.0)
*Briar Woods won 24-21 in OT. Called this one and got a lot of resistance! Honestly though Briar Woods is a pretty good team, not a bad loss for the Chargers but one I’d like to see them be able to get.

Falls Church @ Edison (-7.0)
*Falls Church won 28-7. Did the Jaguars get a new player? Out of nowhere they explode for a 70-7 win against TJ and beat a team I had favored 28-7.

Hayfield (-17.0) @ Yorktown
*Hayfield won 21-14.

Langley @ South Lakes (-14.0)
*South Lakes won 48-42.

Lee (-14.0) @ Jefferson
*Lee won 41-20.

Madison (-21.0) @ Fairfax
*Madison won 44-0.

Marshall (-7.0) @ Wakefield
*Wakefield wins their conference with a big 33-19 win.

Mount Vernon @ Woodson (-15.0)
*Woodson wins 49-0.

Oakton @ Broad Run (-17.0)
*Broad Run wins 28-21.

South County (-28.0) @ Annandale
*South County won 40-12, nice to nail a spread.

Stone Bridge (-7.0) @ Tuscarora
*Tuscarora with the 42-19 statement win. Tusky comes up big and Stone Bridge continues to be inconsistent, still capable of beating anyone in 5A.

Stuart @ Potomac Falls (-56.0)
*Potomac Falls won 57-21.

Washington-Lee (-10.0) @ McLean
*Washington-Lee won 28-0.

West Springfield @ Lake Braddock (-6.0)
*Lake Braddock with the big 56-21 win.

Westfield (-20.0) @ Centreville
*Westfield won 20-12, rivalry game kept this one closer.

If that really is my record, I'm impressed! The winner covering spread should be close to .500 to make for difficult picks.

Missed several spreads and a few outrights tonight, but all good.

First off I believe Westfield had just as many turnovers as Centerville. They probably had twice as many penalties. That and the fact it's a rivalry game us why it was close. Centreville also has some pretty good athletes.

However, it's obviuos to anyone who's watched Westfield this year know what the problem is. They've got a great defense and solid special teams, but their offense, it's bad.

The offense has got to be the worst they've had in the past 10 years. No athletes at the RB position and a horrid offensive line. Biggest kids probably on any line anywhere but not one of them can block.

The other issue is playcalling, Westfield contiunes to shoot themselves with questionable play calling. It's almost as if they have no idea what to do, consistency is nonexistent.

One thing is for sure, they"ll be lucky to get past the second round in the playoffs. That's unless there's a shake-up on the O-line and playcalling. Doubt it though since it's week 8 and nothing has changed!

I don't think anyone really ever thought Westfield would be a contender for the State championship this year. They were (and still are) hyped up as a contender to come out of the 6A North, which they still have a legit shot at as a 7-1 team.

It is funny how much the Cville folks are talking about how "bad" the Westfield team is and how they won't do anything in the playoffs when their own team won't even MAKE the playoffs this year! You say "win when it matters"....well, the regular season "matters" when you can't even make it to the playoffs.

Finally, this brings the Westfield/Centreville regular season record to 13-2 in favor of Westfield (one of those being a 10-7 lost their first year with a varsity schedule).

Centreville has Westfield on the mind all the time. Even when they had their dominant teams going to states all the Centreville fans wanted to do was talk down Westfield. Nothing has changed. They have more fun rooting against Westfield than for their own team. That being said - Centreville has a decent football team - first time I've seen them this year - not sure why they haven't won more games.

Yeah, a down Cville year, but Westfield told everyone how good they were going to be this year and it's not there. They were way better last year.

That being said Cville will make the play-offs, if they beat Robinson and Chantilly they would host a first round game.

As it stands today, they would play Madison first round. I'm thinking Madison might like a different 1st round opponent.

You are a cherry-picking. There is no clear evidence Manny was down on that play or that Z-NY crossed the goal-line. Those were close plays. What there is clear evidence of is that Manny was not down when he fumbled in the championship game and that fourth down pass did hit the ground. So just leave it alone. Close plays happen and without replay sometime it gets called wrong.

____________________________________________________________________

Enough with the Bill's comparisons, if Westfield had never won a title that would be fitting. However they've won as many state titles as Centreville has.

Yes they haven't won since 2007 but then again, they have the same number as a school that's been open almost twice as long as they have.

Since 1999, as far back as VHSL reference shows, here are Centerville's and Westfield's comparisons.

Keep in mind Westfield didn't open until 2000.

Here are the facts;

Overall record;
Centreville 136-58
Westfield 152-36

Postseason record;
Centreville 22-9
Westfield 22-11

Postseason trips;
Centreville 11
Westfield 13

Consecutive postseason trips through 2014;
Centreville 5
Westfield 13

Concorde/Conference 5 Titles;
Centreville 4
Westfield 7

State Titles;
Centreville 2
Westfield 2

Seems like both schools have had pretty good success, both have produced some pretty good players.

But once and for all can we please stop with the Bills comparisons when talking Westfield. Pretty certain every high school coach, player, fan would love to have a program solid enough to have made it to 13, including this year, 14 consecutive postseason appearances. Also to play in 4 consecutive postseason region championships, won or lost.

Pretty sure the press hypes them, probably due to their consistency. Certainly isn't their head coach, not his style.

Wanna talk about hype, Haddock said before the season that Centreville would have the best D-line in the state. Also said something about how many were predicting a down year but they would surprise everyone.

Yeah, a down Cville year, but Westfield told everyone how good they were going to be this year and it's not there. They were way better last year.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is no question, Westfield's offense last year was a night and day difference to what they currently have. There is no break away speed at the RB position. Only kid they had never made it on the field. Offensive line is awful, not sure how a line with that size advantage isn't blowing opponents off the ball.

Westfield's special teams is about even, punting game might actually be better with the Delaney kid kicking. The only chink in special teams is field goal accuracy, Bouveron, last years kicker, was money.

The defense though, it appears to be a little stronger than last years team. Secondary looked a little suspect early on but has played well since SOCO. It's too bad that Clancy is out with a knee injury. He and Scanlon are the only D1 athletes on that team.

Think that Westfield was definitely overhyped by the media prior to and since the season began. It's almost as if they're winning despite the lack of quality athletes on the team.

-------------------------------------------------------

Probably, but they will be going for the 14th consecutive season while you and your Wildcats are sitting at home!

BTW, the comparisons were for the benefit of both programs, not to make one appear more superior than the other. It appears as if you may suffer from some sort of inferior complex based on your posts.

Please, stop living in the past, Centreville had a great team the past couple seasons. As a matter of fact, a dream team of sorts, but that's over and would appear they've fallen back to more of what the program has been prior to Haddock's arrival.

You know what - that was a clear fumble. Refs missed it. Unlike you whining C'ville fans I can admit it when I see it. But the officiating in this game was very pro-Centreville. Haddock ran those refs like a marionette.

Some actual game observations: kudos to #32 in blocking BOTH Centreville extra point attempts. Special teams had another solid performance for Westfield. #80 for Centreville was on fire this game – he absolutely tortured the Westfield offensive line and I’m sure Scanlon was tired of seeing him all night long. That kid is the real deal.

I see both Oakton and Chantilly lost in OT. Anyone at those games can give any detail about how those went down?

This board is getting God Damn stupid with all this Westfield-Centreville talk - especially right after a game night. To try and steer it in the right direction, here are the early lines for next week, which promises to be a great slate of games.

Broad Run (-3.0) @ Robinson
*I love this matchup, Broad Run has been a little down early, but I like their pass game in this matchup.

Centreville @ Chantilly (-1.0)
*Another great game. Can Chantilly finally beat Centreville after some UGLY performances the past several years? I like the Chargers in a close, bigtime win for them.

Edison (-7.0) @ Lee

Falls Church @ Oakton (-28.0)
*Falls Church has been hitting their stride the past couple weeks, but TJ and Edison are obviously nowhere near the talent of the Concorde. Look for the Cougars to cruise in this one.

Herndon @ Westfield (-35.0)

Lake Braddock (-49.5) @ Mount Vernon

Madison (-21.0) @ Washington-Lee

Marshall (-35.0) @ Stuart

Potomac Falls @ Stone Bridge (-3.0)
*Good game here, Stone Bridge is so up and down, I look for an up week this Friday.

South Lakes @ Hayfield (-3.0)
*Really on the fence about this one; it should be a fun game to watch.

TC Williams @ Annandale (-6.0)
*This should be another fun game, with pretty even talent on both sides.

Wakefield (-40.0) @ Jefferson

West Potomac @ South County (-14.5)

West Springfield (-28.0) @ Woodson

Yorktown @ Langley (-7.0)
