Somebody called me on the phone
They said, "Hey hey, is Dee Dee home?
Ya wanna take a walk?, ya wanna go cop?
Ya wanna go get some chinese rock?"
I'm living on a chinese rock
All my best things are in hock
I'm living on a chinese rock
Everything is in the pawn shop
The plaster's falling off the wall
My girlfriend's crying in the shower stall
It's hot as a bitch
I should've been rich
But I'm just digging a chinese ditch
I'm living on a chinese rock
All my best things are in hock
I'm living on a chinese rock
Everything is in the pawn shop

Those are the original lyrics they wrote for Johnny Thunders. When The Ramones recorded it, they changed the first line to "Hey hey, is Artie home?"
And they're definitely not talking about ordering kung pao chicken!
FWIW, Dee Dee was an army brat from Germany that went to HS in Brooklyn- not Westfields.
At the risk of bringing "nicko" out of the woodwork - a true metal classic from one of the greatest bands ever, metal or otherwise. They put on some of the best concerts I've ever seen.

INDEED! I saw Anthrax and Iron Maiden back in 1990-1991 and it was an awesome show!
I also discovered that the book that is referenced in The Beavis and Butthead Experience where Butthead is jerking off really did exist, and the road crew had NO PROBLEM trying to get minors in it.
I miss good concerts. Anymore, tickets are too overpriced.

Being vague is almost as fun as that other thing.
Sprawling on the fringes of the city
In geometric order
An insulated border
In between the bright lights
And the far unlit unknown
Growing up it all seems so one-sided
Opinions all provided
The future pre-decided
Detached and subdivided
In the mass production zone
Nowhere is the dreamer or the misfit so alone
If that doesn't describe being a teenager in the suburbs, I don't know what does.

That is so weird. Not more than 15 minutes ago, a friend sent me a message asking me if I ever heard the Arlington Rap. I didn't know what he was talking about, and then you just posted it. Weird.

This is funny. Someone sent it to me on Friday.
Kind of surprised that it already has about a quarter million hits. Are that many people familiar with Arlington? Would you really get the joke outside of this area?
Seems like everyone I talk to from out of state has been to Arlington and actually remember stuff about it. Why, I have no idea.
What's even weirder though, is how many people I talk to that live in Reston or Herndon that have NEVER been to Fairfax city and have no idea how to even get there.
From the ashes of great 90s indie/punk scene, the former members of Drive Like Jehu and Rocket From the Crypt joined up to form a short-lived project band called Hot Snakes. They released 3 albums on the Swami Records label and the rest is just fucking rock and roll
Back in the early 90s these guys released two brilliant albums out of nowhere. They had all the post-hardcore groove of Fugazi mixed with the swaggering indie noise rage of Sonic Youth. Interscope Records released this song from their final album, "Yank Crime", here is....
DRIVE LIKE JEHU- "SUPER UNISON"

Well I posted the Hot Snakes and Drive Like Jehu stuff, so I should finish it up with their other band- Rocket From The Crypt.
Although they didn't play ska, RFTC had a horn section that created a wall-of-sound atmosphere on everything they recorded. They used to play the Black Cat whenever they came to DC. Which was cool, because the Black Cat is a small club... but Rocket From The Crypt sounded *LARGE*.
From one of my favorite alt-rock albums of the 90s......
Sonic Youth was really ahead of the times back when when nobody knew what the hell indie rock was. The whole FM radio grunge thing sorta took the spotlight.
I think it's cool that someone on FU took the name "Thurston Moore", because the real Thurston Moore was one of the best rock and roll musicians of his time.

except FFXU's Thurston Moore is giant pot head douche
I don't want to hear it
All you do is talk about you
I don't want to hear it
'Cause I know that none of it's true
I don't want to hear it
Sick and tired of all your lies
I don't want to hear it
When are you gonna realize...
That I don't want to hear it
Know you're full of shit
Shut your fucking mouth
I don't care what you say
You keep talking
Talking everyday
First you're telling stories
Then you're telling lies
When the fuck
Are you gonna realize
That I don't want to hear it
Know you're full of shit

We have the Bullis school in MD. (which at the time was a military school) and the Haggen Dazs on Wisconsin Ave. to thank for making Henry Garfield what he is today.

I don't think it's badass at all, I think it's funny.
