One one of my favorite bands of all time. I saw them at the Black Cat about 5 years ago, they had Mark Arm from Mudhoney, Evan Dando (Lemonheads), and Marshall Crenshaw all doing the lead vocals. It was a special night.

Nice Fela track, Harry.

I remember back in the day having Zombie on regular rotation, but haven't really listened to the guy in a long time.

The rhythm section on this seems a little more polished, or perhaps just better produced/recorded, than my memory of Zombie; perhaps it's from a later period.

Gee thanks, Miz.

So, in addition to inflicting this board with your fitfully amusing post-teen emo musings, we now learn you're a pompous arse to boot?

I suppose this was, on the whole, predictable.

As for the great Puma International, what exactly are they bringing to the table, in terms of bland, commercialized reggae/pop, that UB40 didn't?

Lyrical produndity? E.g., "You make me high" repeated ad infinitum?

Gosh, I never heard that sentiment articulated in a pop (or country or Cole Porter) song before.

Love ya, Miz, but you need to get off the high-horse. It ill becomes you.

I failed to mention that as a major pompous ass, myself, I am an expert in the art of pompous ass detection. Add to that my impeccable taste and extensive knowledge of musical composition and you have not only a pompous ass detector but a highly skilled music critic.

The fact that I wrote "lyrical produndity" which makes no sense, matters not a wit, since I ride the highest horse of all and look down upon you with disdain. I'd like to stay longer but matters of great importance await me.

Good day.

The fact that you even brought up the name "UB40" tells me you know nothing of real reggae music. Put down your copy of Bob Marley Legend and get back to me once you know something about Jamaican music other than One Love and Red Red Wine.

And I'm sorry you're the sort who mistakes taste and culture for pretentiousness. Then again, to each his own...

Here's another example of authentic reggae music:

The Butthole Surfers- "O-Men"

I saw these guys at City Gardens in Trenton when I was a teenager. One of the most fucked up concerts of all time. Noisy, chaotic punk rock/metal that was ahead of it's time in terms of weirdness. Their show felt dangerous. For most of the concert they pointed flashing strobe lights right out at the crowd. It was like a fucking loud, epileptic nightmare, I'll never forget it.

Butthole Surfers were nuts.
