I have a hard time reconciling government telling private businesses that they can't allow smoking, even if those are open to the public. Why can't non-smoking just be a personal consumer choice, and a competitive opportunity for the business? That being said, I've recently been living in a non-smoking state for a while, and I much prefer not having to deal with the smoke. The restaurants and

Yes, the "temporary" math wing was still there in my day, and there were also two standard FCPS trailer classrooms out back. (Can't remember what classes were in there.) The math wing was replaced with new construction

The entire WB Store chain shut down in 2001. The stopped manufacturing most of the clothing items so you can't get them online, either. (I've seen people selling used polo shirts for amazing sums, though.) The ones I liked were nicely embroidered, so I can take those off and have them sewn onto some new shirts. I miss that store.

A friend reported on Monday that an EMB on Arlington Blvd in Fairfax was saying that the road would be closed Tuesday. (Don't know exactly where this was or exactly what the message was. Seems pretty far out! Maybe they are closing some roads to be used for emergency evacuation routes or something?)

The Italian Store in Arlington is okay for a sub, but is there an actual Italian grocery worth noting around here anywhere? Does the metro area have a Littly Italy neighborhood like New York or Boston?

I've only tried a few places: Ragga in Bailey's Crossroads (lunch buffet, score: 3/10), Minerva in Fairfax City (Friday, dinner, score: 5/10), and Delhi Dhaba in Arlington (Friday dinner, score: 2/10). Compared to the selection I'm used to (Cambridge, MA), it's rather weak around here, but my sample size is small. Where should I try next around here?

One reason to not put them on the same plane is that it's now filled with upset people who are going to be confused, angry that the Muslims are being let back on, perhaps angry with themselves for unjustly accusing them, angry with the airline over the delay, angry with the accusing passengers, and just generally unhappy. I am not sure I would want to be the Muslim family sitting with those peo

Myself and a couple of friends drove over to Tuberville last night. You go down a pathway just off that suburban side street into what appears to be the woods, and there it is! There's a NO TRESPASSING KEEP OUT sign hanging on a chain over the path where the gravel part ends, but just ignore that and round the corner. Man, those tuber houses are really freaky! But when we shined a flashlight

I like Todai. Lots of yummy rolls, made-to-order items, crab legs, shrimp, lobster, and many other goodies. They also have a crepe station for dessert.
