Oddly, the numbers may be real, just not what trump thinks they are. Apparently there are a number of organized protest groups reserving tickets for the rally that they're never gonna use. It'll drive up expectations and make the whole thing look foolish when far-fewer people show up. And it may make it difficult for people to actually want to go to get tickets, again depressing the turnout.
