Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
Low carb is a hell of a commitment, though. It's really the antithesis of everything Mike has ever done, eating wise. No way Mike lasts more than a couple of weeks.
No wonder Mike's back golfing; it's his excuse to get out of the house and hit Culvers without Carla knowing. All the more so, now that she's sprung this low carb deal on him.
Friday's show was shaping up to be not bad, but Mike fell into a shopping story (that sounded identical to many other shopping stories) and Cosby pontificating (which he did, almost verbatim, too many days in a row already).
At least when Carolla repeats his rants endlessly, the rant was entertaining the first time around. Mike's repeats (weather, Today Show, conjuring, blah) are wack.

It's not hard to do - Mike is delivering virtually nothing worthy of comment. Hell, a handful of posters punched out last year. I'll join them in a happier, TMOS free space.

Irony, thy name is TMOS.
Too bad it's never cleverly intentional.

Mike may not like being called lazy, but it was outright embarrassing when he had no idea that "Transparent" was on Amazon Prime, I mean, after all, they are only their main (non-Kappy) source of income.
Equally bad, after going on for months about "Unbroken", he now says he doesn't plan to watch it because it got bad reviews. Never mind the fact that it's a story of a true American hero that he has raved about, but some critics didn't like it so he can't be bothered to get off his boil laden arse and support it.

It's interesting to see Carolla supporters acting like klubbers in this recent Alison Rosen flap. Everybody agrees that he had the right to fire her, but his method and explanations (multiple) were pretty terrible. After she took the high road, he eventually trashed her due to to the fervor and consortium theories on Twitter...yikes.
Would Give Mondays Show A Solid 8.
Where On Earth Has Cake And Cookies Gone? Maybe Katie Is In Transition Due To Sale Of Her Home? Any Inside Information Would Be Appreciated, Becoming As Undependable As The Marc And Lowell Show. Thank You.
Mr. Curious, that is a great point. Instead of being snarky and critical, he could have pushed Amazon Prime via their link, etc.
Also, did anyone else catch the comment about throwing the remote and breaking the blinds? I actually think it may be an interesting year. I cannot believe Carla is wanting him to drink again. She has to have a master plan, right?

So far in 2015 we have a thrown remote damaging blinds and a golf club thrown into a lake and lost forever. Full LFF is gathering speed.

It's hard to justify, unless your FAVORITE personality goes pay per. I like and respect Don, and used to like Cumia, but I'll probably never hear them again haha.

I bought Don's show for a few months but it was nothing I couldn't hear on paintyourbaldspot so there was no point. Lame phone calls, reading articles with racist slants.....neither one of these sad saps can come up with an original idea now.

At the end of Don's show on KHTK it had just become a steady re-telling of every story he had told for the previous 20 years. As much as I enjoyed them the first time, hearing them for the umpteenth time just got really old and boring.

My feelings exactly.
Just not worth the money.
I find it funny that his main complaint with RELM involved not being able to take live phone calls, yet, he still doesn't, though it seems he has the ability to...
Cumia has a free recap show that comes out Saturdays. Cheaper than paying. Don should do that as well, but his ego and greed won't allow it. Mike even with his "issues" gives free content each week.
I just don't see how the pay per podcasts make it.
There was an interesting development on ACS over the past couple of weeks. Adam fired his co-host / newsgirl via email. She didn't get a send off show and Adam gave some white-washed reason on the first show back from the break.
Twitter and the forums got riled up over it. Adam in another show said he wasn't gonna address it. Then in another show, Adam was fed up enough to address why he fired her and gave specific reasons and cited examples.
It was damn good pod.
Juxtapose that with how TMOS has handled the situation when each staffer or on-"air" person left / got fired. One podcast knows howto capitalize on manna from heaven and the other is filled with fat men that are too moronic to realize that conflict can make for an interesting show.

I had every single one of these thoughts. It was riveting to hear someone actually pull the cover back instead of someone who pretends to pull back the curtain, but really doesn't do shit.

"We want to say thank you to audible.com for supporting the Mike O'Meara show. We are very excited to see they are fans of our show. Of all the podcasts that Audible could support, they chose us."
This again. LPS must have written this for LFF. So fucking cringe inducing. How can Oscar let them embarrass themselves like this.
I believe Oscar is the only one that knows the difference between advertisers and affiliates, he probably uses "the advertisers" in an effort to keep Mike showing up, his comment pre-Christmas when Mike wanted to blow of the last couple shows lean in that direction.
I still listen to Don everyday, it's still not bad, he's introduced outgoing calls to listeners and 24 hr voicemail that he plays on air unscreened, so call and tell him what you think about the pay per listen deal. He usually plays most recent first so if you call during the early part of the show, it'll probably get played.
Haven't listened to Mike this week, but with new temper tantrums I may have to. I think Full Mike may be Carla's objective here, what better way to make sure you can get a better deal than the other ex's than by easily proving he's a drunken, abusive man who shouldn't be allowed around his son or to speak about her publicly.

I actively hope for bad things to occur to the krew.
Up to and including hate crimes, heart attacks, death threats, pet deaths, spousal affairs, divorce, temper tantrums ending with authorities being called, slapping of faces, bar fights, and suitcase throwing, because otherwise...

Actually, I think what happened there was Mangrate.
At Christmastime, Mangrate likely does some old-fashioned advertising.

Don's show has been very good since the new guy joined way less good old day talk few repeat stories and thank god his wife is not on
look at the recap for his show on his website and see the topics they get into
and the calls are on with voice mail they have been playing a ton and they are pretty fucking good
i started paying for don in november, it automatically rolls over unless i stop it and i haven't
he puts out a lot of content every week
but i agree a free best of show would help
tho u have to wonder, he must be making some $$ with subscribers
i have see the billboard on his twitter, they can't be cheap
I love how Mike, renowned "man of a thousand voices," can't even do a remotely passable Australian accent. It's exactly the same as his equally horrible South African accent. What a talent.
I was at the gym this afternoon, watching the Travel Channel, and saw a promo for a show called Booze Traveler. Congratulations to Mike and the guys! This is the show that he and Oscar were putting together a couple of years ago. I'm so proud of Mike for making this happen (and, all of you haters, don't bother bitching about it, its just because your jealous).

This. It was really bad. Tie me kangaroo down indeed.
So Mike begged listeners of his bonus show to buy his bonus shows. In other words, he's begging people who already paid for the bonus package to buy the bonus package.
"In 15 1-hour episodes of Booze Traveler cocktail connoisseur Jack Maxwell travels around the world, one drink at a time. Maxwell grew up in south Boston where bars served as the neighborhood living rooms, hosting family dinners, birthdays and weddings. In this new series, he will take his respect and appreciation for specialty cocktails to explore new locales, seeking out the people, places, customs and cultures behind drinks across the globe."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Maybe Oscar needs to get the phone number of Mike's legal council?

Except for he fact that they should all be sued by Zane Lamprey because he had the shows "Three Sheets" and "Drinking Made Easy" WAY before any of them. Check out Hulu and watch Three Sheets. It was an awesome, funny, drinking show from all around the world.

Oh boy, yes. If Mike, after 4 glasses of wine, wanted to throttle his fellow church member at a church potluck for ogling Carla, imagine what he'd do after being over-served at Jimmy's.
Mike is shocked, SHOCKED that all they can hope to get is D-list celebrities on their D-list podcast. The truth is a painful thing Mike. This is what you are now. That sucking sound you hear is the drain and you are getting closer to it every day.
I second the idea proposed here some time ago that FFXU TMOS posters pool some money and offer to sponsor the podcast. Wouldn't you love to hear LFF read the copy and hear Spewak say, "The best?" Would be reminiscent of statements hostages are forced to read. Bonus package subs are down....

Back in the early days of TMOS, they had somebody from the Food Network on. The krew played a guessing game with the LFF to see if he could figure out which person from that network was coming on.
The LFF went thru all the (back then) A-listers: Emeril, Bobby, Mario, etc...
After many, many incorrect guesses, the LFF hit upon "cake guy" and it was clear that Duff was listening to the entire thing.
And the LFF being a fat, alcohol addled, narcissistic asshole kept calling Duff "the cake guy".
...that someone like Marc Maron (who was not ever on the A-list in anyone's estimation, and is a self-described narcissistic asshole) does so much better than these guys. What is the missing ingredient? I mean, besides refreshing self-awareness, actual interviewing skills, a well-earned reputation for killer content, funny jokes, the ability to not step all over the guest... You know what? Never mind. Its not weird at all.

At the start of WTF, Marc leveraged his stand-up roots. He had a lot of comics that started around the time Marc did and was very Comedy Store heavy.
Then that guy came out on WTF and the Gallagher thing and bang WTF was on the map as a cool podcast and kind of a thing for comics to do.
So, Marc had a Rolodex he could use at the start of his show and even tho Marc is "an asshole" they still did his show. Marc used to ask the guests if he was a jerk to them or did something bad when he was on drugs / drinking.
Then he was smart enough to capitalize on some events that happened on his show.
The LFF had a Rolodex and can still draw some people like Patton. I'm not sure what the deal is other than nobody on TMOS wants to do the leg work required. Somebody (Oscar) could ask Patton if he can recommend anybody and do an introduction...But, maybe the krew is too dumb to try that.
TMOS had some pretty interesting events, but they wanted to "take the high road" and pissed it away.
I'd pay for shows that was the LFF talking about crazy stuff in his time in radio

Maron's career was "walking dead" for years. The difference between him and LFF is that Maron worked the comedy circuit for years. He knew every comedian out there. He became "the comedians' comedian." He did this by hitting the road and working the clubs and getting better over time. Even through drug addiction, he kept working.
That's the difference..."working." Mike puts no effort into his career. You know what Maron calls Mike's bi-annual live show? Tuesday. Maron does shows like that in his sleep. Mike rolls out of bed, turns on his computer and implores people not responsible for his life to "try harder."

Agreed, that is painful to hear. It comes across as completely insincere and often breaks the flow of the copy being read. Just stop already.
If I hear hear Mike say the listeners need to "try harder" one more time I may stop listening for good. That is so totally offensive it's not even funny. If he reads this I'm sure he'd just write me off as "not getting it", but I do in fact get it. "It" is damned insulting to your listeners.
Mike already burnt the Patton friend bridge, when they had Brian Posehn on and couldn't figure out what to talk to him about. Also Posehn has a funnier podcast than TMOS and it's guys playing Dungeons and Dragons!
