Catching up on Friday. Fat Fuck thinks Key west is the southernmost point in the United States.

Well he is kind of correct. Key west is the southernmost point contiguous United States. Hawaii has the southernmost point in the 50 states and Texas has the southernmost point without being an island.

Good thing the northernmost point only has two options.

I’m a big fan of Patton Oswalt and I have no choice but to forgive him for his allegiance to LFF. But it’s understandable. PO graduated HS in ’87, which means his main listening years to D&M were the WAVA days. Stern wasn’t on WJFK until ‘89, so it’s not a surprise that a teenaged PO would think the WAVA Morning Zoo was funny radio, even groundbreaking. In DC there was The Greaseman or D&M (or Elliot & Woodside on Q107). Whether or not you think that Don was ripping off Stern or Steve Dahl, and whether or not you think he was good at it, it’s clear that Don was the only guy in town doing that kind of Stern/Dahl radio (while LFF was pretty much along for the ride). Teen boys ate it up.

This also means--and I am emphasize--that PO was listening to D&M in the PRE-LPS days. LPS first appeared as an intern in ’92. By then, PO was out of college and probably out of the area altogether. (I think he first went to SF to do stand-up after doing it in DC.) So when PO goes on with Opie now and is complimentary toward LFF, he’s doing it from a place of childhood nostalgia for the D&M Morning Zoo, not for TMOS. Can you imagine his horror when he did the Failcast and had to endure LPS shoehorning his audio vault into the program? Imagine if he ever heard Cake & Cookies, with LPS cramming a pun and double entendre into every sentence while guffawing-speaking a mile a minute between Katie’s hyena laugh. Imagine if he ever heard -- GOOD GOD, NO! -- Robb Radio on KCJJ!! When PO is on other podcasts and groans about having to do bad morning radio and dealing with their schtick, this is the precise crap he means.

So yes, Patton, I forgive you. I’m sure you’ll sleep better tonight knowing that I do.

I think the look on Patton's face when Mike gives the "Why do we have the best fans in the world? Because they get it" line says it all....Mike and Robb are EXACTLY the kind of "radio" people Patton talks about loathing...lazy, ocd sound effect driven horseshit

Listen to the latest Cake & Cookies…if you dare. Katie tries to describe going to Georgia with her husband to look at potential new homes. The obese one, rather than listening to her and having a somewhat intelligent adult conversation about the trip, is too busy forcing every popular song with “Georgia” in the title into a musical bed while Katie speaks. Because that's whacky DJ stuff, you see. And of course he has to cackle and derail her story as each song comes on. What a fucking man-boobed tool.

Patton was a massive fan 15-20 years -- and who can blame him, it was good then. Now Patton is a busy mover and shaker in Hollywood, he doesn't have time to listen to a stale radio show/podcast regularly, and he just doesn't know how hard they've fallen. If he praises LFF now it's out of nostalgia and not based on the quality of the current show.

It has been 0 days since LFF yelled at Spewakk for being lazy or doing something stupid

I don't think Rob (let's drop the extra B until he earns it) has ever had much luck getting guests on. I feel like he was acting as the producer during what I've heard called the 'summer of Dennis' in 98 or 99 when they were also bouncing back and forth to NYC, feuding with O&A, and generally in a weird place emotionally. I remember thinking he only got guests that actively tried to get on all the radio shows.

D&M burned a lot of bridges with guests over the years. This could be good radio at times, but I tend to wonder if it had after-effects. It's not the celebs themselves, I think, but their management, who have long memories.

Bethann was generally horrible on-air, but she seemed to try to get guests in. Rarely great ones, but I feel like being cool with 4-5 working stiff comedians pushing their tour might earn you a favor if their manageemnt also has a big name celeb or two that wants to promote something. Favors earn favors.

Chris Hardwick's Nerdist podcast is great because it's informal and a conversation. I feel like celebrities actually enjoy doing it, at least compared to the usual media junkets where they make a celeb call 10 radio stations an hour. D&M used to be much closer to this kind of material. I remember a favorite segment was getting a wrestler to 'break character' and just talk normally and it was much more entertaining.

Wasn't 'Mike Interviews People' one of their spinoff ideas that got discarded at some point a year or two back? It's not my thing, but even Mike's Golf Show, another idea that was dropped without discussion, could have potential if done right.

Ha! It's like the proverbial car accident. You don't want to look but you can't look away. I'm a sucker for bad radio. That's why I miss Jack Diamond. The TMOS crew are the gift that keeps on giving. (I do admit that I don't have a real problem with Oscar, but I don't listen to any podcast he's on outside of TMOS. His only offense is that he's boring.)

These fat pompous assholes like to portray themselves as celebrities ("the Robb Mobb"? Really?) and/or experts on everything (LFF on politics). In the end, they make me feel better about my own healthy, apnea-free, normal blood pressure, non-boiled assed, primary household wage-earning, non-parental-borrowing, anger-management-free, non-suitcase-throwing self...capable of walking up a flight of stairs (even two!) without clutching my heart and breaking into a fat man's sweat.

He had one interview with a woman from The Food Network, or The Cooking Channel or whatever.

He kind of did an OK job, until he couldn't stop his horny DJ brain from openly lusting after her...then it just fell into the toilet. He started sounding like Kirk McEwen and it just all fell apart.

I don't think I have ever heard Mike give a really good interview...at least not one that he was responsible for. When it's good its because the guest carries it.

Though no interview will ever be as horrible as his one with Colin Hanks.

Yeah, but there's a difference with Diamond . . . the Jack Diamond show was like a bowl of really cheap vanilla ice cream, the kind with all the air pumped into it. Yeah, pretty awful, but you could choke it down.

But the Failcast? It's like a bowl of rotting hamburger. Yeah, once upon a time, you could have made something tasty from it, from those days are long past. Now, it's just rotting, smelly, animal flesh.

He won't shut up; asking a question then not letting the person talk.

The interview itself was fine...actually slightly better than most...

But then...

3 seconds before Colin hangs up...Mike unleashes this beauty...

"Hey Colin, how happy are you that I never mentioned your father!!!???!!!"

And basically since then, every time Mike mentions how good of an interviewer he is he talks about how he never mentioned Tom Hanks when he was interviewing Colin.

WHEN HE DID!!!!! And - in fact - I would argue made the interview COMPLETELY ABOUT his father with that one question.

This. Mike is incapable of asking a straightforward question and letting the guest answer it. He keeps injecting his own opinions on the subject at hand or starts to answer his own question the way he feels the guest would answer, invariably stepping on his own dick.
Mike can't avoid run-on questions, period.

Basically, LFF is still falling apart. Multiple infections: eye, ass, gut. He's still trying to "slim down" so they can do the bowel surgery. And he seems to have glossed over some doctor stuff for once, because he left one place and is now at a new doctor. I wonder if he was asked politely to find a new doctor. The LFF and LPS show is terrible. Fatt Rob was able to tell a story about his dysfunctional role within his family without Oscar being there to bust his balls. And LFF cracks up at the Tech 411 spot that sounds like the Serial podcast (same music, Oscar is calling on a bad phone connection) then admits again he has no idea what it is referring to.

That actually makes me happy. It's just possible that doctors have finally told the fat idiot O'Meara that if he doesn't do something about his fucking weight, he's going to die, and sooner rather than later. No, "Oh, I'm ten pounds down because I ate a cracker for dinner last night." No, "Oh, I haven't had a beer in three weeks." Uh-uh. Serious life changes, or death. Choose.

Shut the fuck up, idiot!

You are, hand to god, literally the worst fucking poster here, you stupid shit cunt.

You add nothing of interest to this board and your even worse sin is you wait until somebody else remarks about that idiot Jhop's post before you attempt to call Jhop out. You don't even know enough about anything to attack first.

Also, you never post anything about the greatest podcast in the world, TMOS. We are certain you don't lift. But, do you even listen, you stupid fucking shitcock?

I still remember the old show. Don was a fucking man-on-fire, and Mike could still do voices.

If somebody made Mike listen to a tape from the old show, he would probably jump out a window of what he's made of himself.

LFF doesn't like to get political today. Or bloviate about how tired he is of politics. Or say "State of the Onion" several times, because that is hilarious. Blobb doesn't like to make inane comments about how the NFL is to blame for the bifurcation of the country. And then some more ass kissing of "Navy Seals, Law Enforcement, and the rest of the military. I know Navy Seals, I've met Navy seals... "

"State of the Onion" - LFF's verbal crutch of the day. It was hilarious the first time, even better after a dozen uses. I think he read Blob(b)'s book on Comedic Repetition. ALMOST as good as a week of "Lost Wages, Nevada!" during and after CES.

It's amazing to me LFF calls himself a "podcaster" yet is totally clueless about the most popular podcast out there. Guarantee you that outside of a few podcasts Oscar made Mike listen to in 2009 to convince him to do the show, Mike hasn't listened to one podcast since...including his own. "Best sounding podcast." How the fuck would he even know?

Any heard Donnie's pay per scam recently? I wish he would offer a free recap show. Just like Mike should be more on Twitter. Facebook is not where it's at. I do agree that the show has gotten lazy. But most of the good podcasts have gotten "radio" like. Switch it up a bit. Maybe a guest or new bit.

Just my 2 cents!

Sorry, but Serial is way overrated. I got through 2 episodes just to see what the hype was about. It seems that today's consumer jumps on the hype, kind of like the overrated iPhone or any other Apple product.

Overrated, maybe. It got an extreme level of hype. It's still very good, especially the middle episodes. It's like True Detective in that way - the middle is a lot more intriguing that the end.

How bad a parent do you have to be for Mike to call you out and be right about it? Cary will probably buy smokes for Julia if she doesn't get the lead in the next play...I can't believe Robb now accurately qualifies as the responsible parent...Congrats Cary, that's quite an accomplishment

Right after the discussion of LFF "breaking his diet" (as if it's only happened once) at some Olive Garden clone. High points: on the walls in the men's room, there were pictures of kids pissing. I shit you not. And large portions. I'm guessing he doubled or tripled his 1500 calorie diet that day.

Won't the Fat Tub of Goo feel great in a year or two (or even six months) when his daughter is over her Fall Out Boy phase? Money well spent!

And someone also tell Sappy Kappy that this whole shitstorm started because these "most perfect and wonderful parents" actively encouraged their friends and FB followers to cheat and lie to help their daughter win a contest, which resulted in her being disqualified. Their guilt from all that had them sitting at a computer yesterday preparing to fork out almost $1,000 in total costs (when it's all said and done) to satiate their offspring. So you see, Kappy, this is really just a case of the Spewaks fucking up as parents.

"Uh, Sharon, it's Robbie. Great, great, you? Well, you know the money I borrowed from you for my iPad? I'm sure, right. When? Um, the bonus show subs are way down so the next payment will be a bit delayed. Well, the real reason for my call is I kinda need to borrow a little bit more for the Fall Out Boy concert for Jules in June. Yeah, it's a makeup for the whole contest fiasco. Yeah, she got screwed on that, right? For some reason I wasn't able to buy them in time but thank goodness Julia was able to snag the tickets. DC? No, Virginia Beach. Yes, there's one closer, at Merriwether Post, but I couldn't snag those. How much? 220. Two hundred twenty. No, each. They're the VIP packages so Julia and her bestie or Cary will be able to meet the band backstage -- photo -- 1st or 2nd row -- won't that be great for Jules? With gas and hotel and t-shirts, what say we round it up to an even 1K. Love you!"
