I re-watched the first half of Season 5 over the past week. That "W" symbol carved into walkers' foreheads has actually been around alot longer than I thought. We've seen it ever since they got to the Alexandria Safe Zone, but...

...earlier this season when the group made it to Noah's home in Richmond, they parked their cars in the woods near a pickup truck accident. No one was left in the Richmond compound, Tyreese got bit, etc... But when they pulled their car out of the woods to get away, they bumped into that brokedown pickup truck, and a bunch of walker torso's spilled out. And the camera showed that same "W" carved into their foreheads.

Surprising, because that scene happened near Richmond, more than 100 miles away from where they are now in Alexandria.

Are these supposed "Wolves" really that far widespread that they could be in both Richmond and Alexandria? Kinda hard to believe that any group would be that spread out without being detected by Rick & co.

I guess we'll find out.

On another note, I was happy to learn that there will be a new spin-off series of Walking Dead coming out next fall, set in Los Angeles. This could be a great new story line.

Personally, I was hoping for a spinoff series focusing on the pre-apocalypse Dixon family: Better Call Merle.

Seasons 3 & 4 kinda lost me, to the point where I almost stopped watching. Season 5 has been pretty good though. Last night's episode (3/15) was amazing.

It's been very amusing to watch Rick interact with people in Alexandria. Every now and then, you'll catch subtle glimpses of what a savage creep he's become.

I hope that faggot priest gets killed in the most horrific way. Traitor.

That Richmond scene was a big WTF. Who would save a bunch of walker torsos in a pickup?

Even though a lot of the Alexandria story line is boring and drawn out, I like how they show what the apocalypse has done to the survivors. Inside the walls, you have a bunch of naive do-gooders that have grown soft, while Rick's group may never adjust to civilization again. Definite PTSD.

When that cute blonde chick walked by with her husband, Rick got a creepy grin and reached for his gun... WTF!?

No, he's one of the better actors on the show, they'd be stupid to kill him off. I think Glenn, Carol, Daryl, and Rick are pretty much untouchable at this point. I wonder about Carl though, he looked like he was about 8 or 9 when the outbreak occurred, and now they're about 2 years into the story and he looks like he's about 14. He might have to get killed off just to make the timeline seem believable.

Best new character is Abraham, he always has the funniest lines.

"And the camera showed that same "W" carved into their foreheads."

Good observation. That would mean either these Wolves are tailing Rick's group or have a wide range. It will interesting to see any encounter between the two.

Can't wait until Sunday when Deanna finds out her prick son is dead and the rest of the crew learns of Noah's death, especially since it was Aiden and Nicholas who fucked up the operation and Nicholas bailed.

Then throw into the mix Father Gabriel's comments to Deanna and now Carol wants to kill the doctor.

And of course, Sasha is losing her grip on reality.

Things are bound to get messy.

If you had enough walker torsos you might be able to build a fence or wall out of them. That might keep other walkers away from your camp and be enough to frighten any wandering humans away.

If you read the comic some real popular characters die. It's always a shock. Carl may be the only one who is untouchable as TWD is actually his story.

Glenn will die in the season finale. The Glenn character gets killed in the comic strip series. The guy who plays Glenn has been wanting to explore other roles in tv/movies so his time has come. I would like to know who will be tapping his hot ass wife after he dies!

I'm still pissed off that they killed Beth. Emily McKinney is HOT!!!!

I'm pretty sure Maggie was already dead by the time they got to Alexandria in the comics. The show's not following the comic book. I do agree about Emily Kinney though, smokin' hottie.

Lol. Not even close.

It seems that the show is speeding up the Alexandria timeline in the comics. Maybe Negan will show up. If so, it's lights out for a main character.

I keep hearing about the Negan character from people that read the comics first. Supposed to be a nasty character.

The show isn't really following the comics closely. Otherwise several of the main characters would either not exist (Daryl) or be dead already (Michonne). It's more like a re-imagining of the story.

It was also seen on a barn on the ride to Noah's neighborhood and on a wall in his neighborhood. Just read an article with Nicotero stating that the neighborhood was not destroyed by walkers but people.

that was definitely "foreshadowed" in the Richmond episode when tyreese died. they walked outside the walls and michonne saw hordes of severed legs, and the camera panned to a crumbled wall that looked like it had been smashed and burned. she made a comment that "this is what being out here looks like", and they decided to just leave.

walkers don't chop people's legs off their torsos and don't smash & burn walls down. I think it was implied that humans did that nasty shit.

Makes sense now. I remember when watching it how it was odd that walkers left whole body parts, like they were trying to be tidy or save them for later. More likely someone pissed off the Wolves and paid for it dearly.

Those two evil guys cleverly built up an army of walkers, but I wonder if they're just "recruiters" for a higher authority. Morgan was irresponsible for not killing them in the opening scene.

I thought it was one of the better season finales. Not as intense as last season's arrival at Terminus, but it definitely set things up for a good Season 6.

Seth Gilliam plays a priest on "The Walking Dead," but got busted for blazing like a bat out of hell down a highway, possession of marijuana, and DUI. Let us pray.

Police in Peachtree City, GA arrested Gilliam -- who also played a cop on "The Wire" -- early Sunday morning after officers say they clocked him at 107 mph. Once he was pulled over ... cops smelled booze, and asked Gilliam if he'd been drinking. They say he admitted to having 3 beers and a shot.

According to the police report, the arresting officer also discovered a joint in a cigarette box, hidden in the arm rest.

Cops say Gilliam blew a .107 blood alcohol level. He was arrested and released after posting a $9,818 bond.

It's been decent so far, kinda too early to tell how good the storyline will be.

I do like the perspective of seeing it all going down from Day 0. Cops shooting zombies, but the general public doesn't know they're zombies, so they stage big protests against police violence. Ha! That'd be silly if it weren't actually very realistic. I think total chaos will happen by the next episode, so it's bound to get more interesting. Kim Dickens still looks pretty good for 50, I always thought she was a hottie.

Looked like some sort of trellis set-up. Kind of odd and felt somewhat contrived to make the scenes dramatic.

Did anyone else notice the show ran over about an extra five minutes? Odd.

Last night's episode was kind of slow, but that's to be expected as they're setting up the story. The problem however was they didn't do a good job of transitioning from two neighbors are walkers to the whole city is overrun and their are 12 "safe" zones.

These episodes are sort of weird because we can only compare them to the vicious journey of the original series. The new characters seem throw-away and it's frustrating to not know who will eventually face the reality of what's "really happening".

That being said, I think the military occupation of their neighborhood is very bad. That army officer hitting golfballs- lol, nice reference to The Governor.

The original series was always excellent portraying the absolute danger of encountering other human survivors, people even more dangerous than walkers. I hope the current story follows that arc.

The characters are trapped and still worrying about everyday-life things. The military are assuming control, and no one really knows what's going on outside.

Time to get the fuck outta there! It won't be good.

The season finale last night finally picked up the pace. I completely understand why the first couple of episodes were slow as the writers need to establish the setting, the characters, and the general plot, but it's good they've got things moving now.

Too bad they killed off Liza. It would have been interesting to see how the story continued with the friction between her and Madison with Travis thrown in the middle. Then again, maybe this forces other characters like Chris to deal with the reality of what's happening.

The introduction of Strand is interesting too. Seems very much like a smooth operator, kind of any early Governor type. Not sure about the whole boat thing working out since if it did work out then they'd just ride out the ZA at sea, read: no action. So, something's going to get f'ed up at some point and squash that plan.

Yeah its not like large yachts are anchored just off the coast. Normaly they are just kept at dock.

Could be that he motored it out there at the start of the outbreak fearing the situation would get worse. Or it could be the writers have no actual experience with boats.

I think Salazar will be a real badass during the post-apocalyptic world.

This might also settle lingering idea I had during the original series: why don't they find a boat? Hopefully we'll see why it's a good and bad idea.

If the apocalypse ever happened in DC, the people in Occoquan and Woodbridge could take the Potomac out to Chesapeake, stay close to the shore, and make land at Norfolk.

Strand's obviously a multi-millionaire who knows what kind of trouble is coming.

Plus he's a black guy on Walking Dead. He refuses to go out like T-Dog, Noah, Tyreese, that skinny woman from S1, Bob, Big Tiny, Shumpert, or that prisoner who helped the siege of Woodbury.

Season premiere was good. I didn't like the black and white flashbacks, but the zombie herd in the quarry made up for it.

I liked the way they juxtaposed the two stories with the black & white scenes, as long as they only do that once though.

Probably the Wolves that were last seen herding the walkers into the trailer.

I like how the walkers are even more decomposed this season. After all, the corpses are 6 years old now compared to the fresh corpses on Fear the Walking Dead.

I think it's only 2+ years since the outbreak. If it were 6, Judith would be walking and talking.

Last night's episode was awesome, I didn't expect a full hour of action and gore like that. Carol saves the day (again), and I think this is the first episode of the entire series that did not include Rick in it.

Am I the only one who thinks Morgan's mad bo-staff skills are a pretty stupid plot device? I'm starting to get annoyed by his presence on the show.

Netflix has Hemlock Grove and soon to be George RR Martin's Werewolf Book on Cinemax.

Morgan stupidly let a bunch of them escape when he could've easily just killed them. Almost guaranteed they'll be back. I think that Enid girl is a spy for them too.

I also wonder whether Morgan killed that super creepy Wolf guy. It gave you the impression he did, but he probably didn't.

I could really do without the CGI fire. You would think after six seasons they would have a bigger budget for special effects.

Is he really gone??
On the Talking Dead they read a statement from Scott Gimple that said,

"In some way we will see Glenn — some version of Glenn or parts of Glenn — again. Either in flashback or the current story to help complete the story.”

I don't know?

Spoiler alert:

Glenn isn't dead. Yet. If you are a fan of the comics, you'd know that Glenn doesn't make it. The show does stray from the books but the overall arc is the very similar. They'll bring Glenn back so everyone goes "yay!" And then in short order they'll kill him for good. Just to put the audience on a rollercoaster.

That was a reference to Glenn's introduction in the final scene of Episode 01. Rick almost got killed in Atlanta and locked himself in a tank surrounded by walkers. And all of a sudden a human voice crackled over the radio and said "hey dumbass".

I always thought Glenn was one of the better actors on the show and I wish his character would continue. But as soon as I heard him make that 'dumbass' comment to Rick in this past episode, I knew something bad was going to happen.

Must agree. I was excited for an extended episode, but it was dumb to focus the whole thing on Morgan for 90 minutes.

The only interesting parts: seeing the grave of "Crighton Dallas Wilton" pan by the camera, and then the creepy Wolve guy with the fucked up teeth at the end.

I hate the Morgan character now. He was better when he was just a crazed survivor saying "CLEAR!" all the time.

One of my least favorite episodes since season 4's "prison epidemic" story arc.

I agree. I found myself surfing other channels.
It's nice that they could fill in some of the gaps on Morgan, but 90 minutes of it?
They could have told his story in so much less time and gotten back to other parts.

Also agree. I too was excited when they said it would be 90 minutes. Kind of figured they'd wrap up this one day's worth of story that's lasted three episodes now. The back story on Morgan's epiphany is good, but didn't require 90 minutes. Seems the writers went off the rail on this one and forgot what their audience likes. And, viewers were looking for a sense of closure on Glenn's death from last week.

I was reading an interview Norman Reedus gave and he said that wasn't Glenn's voice.
I'm surprised he said that, usually they are pretty tight lipped about what is going on.

Hell no. This episode made me quit the show.

Daryl tries to get his crossbow out of the bag while a lone zombie approaches at a snails pace. "Oh, no! Will he free it from the bag before he's bit?" Why doesn't he, UH, just fucking pick up the bag and move further away so he has more time? But they added tense music to make it scary! I was literally laughing out loud at this scene.

The writers further insulted my intelligence when that diabetic cunt just laid down with some zombies to die. She just laid down with them and got bit. Wut?!

Glenn's alive? Body shield saved him from a horde of cannibals?

I'm out. Fuck you all.

Low budget start up show.
Too much meaningless drama.
Not enough blood and gutz!
Like watching endless 'B' movies.
The acting is 'B' rated as well.
Low budget special effects, especially nowdays, is boring.
Correction: SUPER low budget special effects.
The actors act as if rehearsing their rolls is a thing of the past. Like they are 'above and beyond' the need to do so.
A lot of, or most of these new shows are like this. Boring. Boring. Boring.

Carl's line in the garage in last night's episode was probably the worst ever. As an actor even he had to be embarrassed.

And that little boy who started saying "mom" in the sea of walkers is toast. Won't be too sad to see him go. Shit, even Judith the two year old knew to keep her mouth shut.

Mid-season finale sucked shit! Just like the last two episodes.

CGI of the tower falling over looked fake as fuck. They don't have a budget for that after 5 1/2 seasons?

Those teenage faggots fighting in the garage was just a cheap way for the zombies to enter the house. Otherwise this episode would have consisted of people sitting around in a house, contemplating what to do next. Considering all his post-apocalyptic experience, why would Rick ever leave his infant child alone in another room with someone who's about to turn? How convenient of TWD to bring back the "covered-in-guts" strategy, not seen since season 1. Kind of kills the show when you realize they could have just been doing this the whole time to get out of trouble.

Why the fuck would Carol give a shit about finding out Morgan's basement secret when thousands of zombies are threatening the town? Should that really be a priority, considering the insane danger they're already dealing with? And am I really supposed to believe that a man, highly proficient in (stick spinning?), would not absolutely mop the floor with some 45 yr-old lady with a knife? Sure, she's fairly competent with a gun at this point, but I'm tired of the show trying to convince us that Carol is so badass.

Did they ever explain how the Wolf broke out of his restraints? I suppose we're just to assume that he found a tool at some point and had been working at it this whole time? Why didn't they just shoot him when he took the medic girl hostage at knife-point? Multiple people with guns pointed on him and no one had a clear shot at his head?

FUCK. THIS. SHOW.

I agree it's feeling a bit stretched lately. However it beats pretty much anything else on TV these days. At least that I'm interested in.

But to answer some of your questions / statements:

Those teenage faggots fighting in the garage was just a cheap way for the zombies to enter the house.

Maybe, though they could have just as easily rushed the front door and eventually knocked it down. We've seen them overpower doors in the past.

More likely it was a device to provide some sort of resolution between them without having to kill off Carl. Also, it was a way of demonstrating why so many others die when the core cast does not: others do stupid shit or act like they're still in the pre-apocalyptic world where you don't need to check your back every 30 seconds for walkers.

Why the fuck would Carol give a shit about finding out Morgan's basement secret when thousands of zombies are threatening the town?

Because that was another part of the story that needed to come to a head. They were stuck in that house precisely because there were thousands of walkers outside. Normal people waiting it out would sleep, drink, or fuck. Didn't seem like the last two would be options for those two. Carol being Carol realized where she was and might as well take care of the problem with the Wolf since handling the walkers outside wasn't an option.

Did they ever explain how the Wolf broke out of his restraints?

Yes. Morgan knocked out Carol who had a knife that was then dropped, the Wolf knocked out Morgan with his staff, then got the knife and untied himself. Denise was too much of a pussy to kill him so now she's a hostage. At least I think that's how it went.

Multiple people with guns pointed on him and no one had a clear shot at his head?

Yeah, that part I don't get. I mean this isn't a Dirty Harry movie where he take that Wolf's head off with his 44, but what did they have to lose. The Wolf and Denise were not moving and the Wolf's head was not obscured by Denise's head: clean shot.

You think the shows writers will follow the comic strip? Negan does take Glenn out with his barbed wire baseball bat in the comic strip.

Does that mean Maggie will be available again? Will she do anal?

I've been forcing myself to watch TWD for the past couple seasons now. The quality is just too inconsistent at this point for me to continue. The Glenn death fake-out was the final straw for me.

Game of Thrones really is the best show on TV right now, though I can certainly understand the fantasy element turning some people off. Only other series I've kept up with is Homeland. Unfortunately, that show is getting a bit stale too.

I've heard great things about Fargo (FX). Might check that out.
