I think either Hershel or Glen are going to be the next "core group member" to die.
1. Rick is the main character. He's not going anywhere soon.
2. Carl/Judith won't die because they're necessary to Rick's whole "gotta keep my family safe" schtick and Laurie already drew the short straw on that one.
3. They had their chance to kill Carol off but didn't. She will, unfortunately, be sticking around for a while.
4. Daryl has to kill Merle when he turns into a zombie. Thanks for that, you spoiler-giving assholes.
5. Maggie won't die because they won't miss an opportunity to have her crying over Glen about how she's sorry about something.
6. Hershel's daughter won't die because, as a character so forgettable that I can't even remember her name, she's just a plot device. They haven't put her in any kind of serious predicament yet, so I'm sure she'll need rescued or looked for or needing some sort of medication or whatever.
Hershel's the only thing keeping Rick grounded at this point, and ever since killing Shane, they've really been pushing the whole "Rick is turning into a monster" thing. Glen would provide sufficient surprise, something for girls to cry about, and hurt the group without crippling them.

The smart thing to do would have been to walker-bomb Woodbury when you know the Gov. and his best men wouldn't be there. Leave nothing for them to go back to kinda thing. I mean if his army is gone, then he only has a small squad of guys with which to attack the prison, right? It wouldn't have just evened out the odds, it would have turned them in group's favor. I understand he wanted to kill the Gov and all to save his own ass (fail) but even then shouldn't he have just waited until the Gov was in sight and taken him out first? Then picked off the little guys?

The Governor may still be alive, but he lost a big chunk of his army due to Merl. I think Merl was able to shoot off five before that walker sneaked up on him. Maybe this will set back the Governor enough so he can't attack the prison.

It's going to rally the troops. The Gov isn't going to go back and say that biters got the guys he is going to say he offered Rick a deal and the prison group attacked and killed the guys that got eaten. I doubt it'll set anyone back, it'll probably hurry the action up if anything (since the next episode is the season finale).

Walking Dead marathon on AMC this week which is great for somebody who just got into the series this season.
A couple observations:
* Walkers use to be much rarer but individually they were more of a threat. Two walkers were chasing a little girl in the episode on now and it seemed like they were almost trotting (as opposed to walking mindlessly at a snail's pace) and Rick actually had to devise plan to kill them. Now they seem to get slaughtered 20 at a time like its nothing
* Rick seems to have lost his accent as time has passed, much like Meade Skelton.

Killing walkers with ease and their speed issues may be a result of time (or maybe I'm reading way too far into it). But if you're that good at killing them by now, shouldn't you be able to hear them or sense them around you in a building?
The biggest issue I have with the effects is the head damage they show. Yes a skull can be crushed but generally it won't be obliterated with one heel strike (from a fairly small woman) and not with one strike from a fucking moderate sized hunting knife either.

Seriously. They had a pretty sweet thing going on at Woodbury. Much better accommodations than the Prison. It's already got strong defenses, and they have the infrastructure to maintain a semblence of "normal" life. The only thing wrong with Woodbury was the Governor, but now he has no support.

Andrea's stupidity finally got her killed. If she hadn't have kept stopping to see if Milton was dead yet and concentrated on getting the pliers she would've got loose in time to save herself. I'm glad she's gone, every scene with her in it showed her making stupid decisions, it was so bad it made those scenes almost unwatchable.

I get it, regarding Rick's new sanity. Lori was chasing his ass, because he was making evil decisions. What was supposed to be important, was keeping the humanity. Rick's earlier nonsense cause Carl to turn into Baby Boy Douche McShitty Pants. He is gonna catch an asswhoopin....or would entertain the possibility of Carl switching sides briefly. Rick has sanity, because saving those people from Woodbury gave him back his sanity. The more populated the prison is, the more it will seem like "HOME". That could come back to bite them in the ass. Someone is gonna get bit and get loose. Can't wait for Season 4.

Nicotero confirmed that a new threat will present itself to the humans this season, and it's something that cannot be killed. That threat will be apparent by the end of the season premiere and will launch a narrative arc that he said will keep the jeopardy level high for all the episode.
Nicotero said he and showrunner Scott Gimple made the decision that they wanted the threat to be "ever-constant and ever-present" in the new season.
The characters find themselves part of a new, larger community this season in the prison, and their roles have changed. Lincoln, whose character Rick Grimes has largely been the central point of the show, said there will be a shift in leadership as the story unfolds. This is particularly significant as Rick's wife, Lori, was one of last season's casualties, leaving Rick as the sole parent of their two children.
"He's a man that is wrestling with a modus operandi that didn't work last season," Lincoln said. "The brutality that's always going to be in him, he's trying to suppress for the sake of both of his children. He's trying to parent in an apocalypse, (and) he's trying to return to the man he once was for the sake of his children."
As for the Governor, his whereabouts remain a mystery. Morrissey said the character has gone through some changes, however, as the events of last season weigh heavily upon him.
"From an emotional point of view, I think it's much more about what this man is carrying inside him, really, and it's about how he deals and comes to terms with the man he is," Morrissey said. "And what he's capable of. And which side he's going to fall on. That's the choice he has to make. What the writers have done for the Governor in this season is just wonderful."

A "Council" we have not met or learned their role.
Rick falling back to become more of a father (Maybe too much).
Introduction of a set of kids --- who know no other world before this horrific place.
Maggie saying she is not pregnant, but is she lying to protect Glen from more stress?
Michonne on a quest to kill the Governor and has not been based at the jail, but out on her own. Add that she is considering a 70 mile trip to Macon just to find him.
I think the general message was the group becoming too complacent in their surroundings. Some characters are "OK" with where they are at, while others are still aware of the chaos around them.
The odd relationship of the adults living through this nightmare, while the kids are aware of no other reality is cool --- a sign of the relationship would be Carol giving survival lessons verse the "Story Time".
After seeing the previews for the next episode, it seems that the overall jail group is going to be greatly thinned out within the next 2 episodes.

This show would probably be a very good, real drama and taken seriously if it wasn't for the stupid, over the top blood and guts and halloween zombie makeup stuff. Wouldn't it be a lot scarier if the zombies you had to kill looked basically like just like people, just cold and dead? The makeup is too much. It's cartoonish. And the blood and guts is too. It was fun in the first few episodes, it's so old now and gets in the way of the story. And the ridiculous non-scientific leaps of faith lately...elderberry tea will cure a superflu? This show is getting too stupid.

The Returned on Sundance Channel is a zombie show for grown-ups. So much better. None of the silliness and outlandish makeup and blood and guts of Walking Dead. Season 2 of Walking Dead came close to getting to real drama and real ideas, but it fell apart last half of season 3.
