In solitary prisoners generally get 1 hour per day rec time. That likely consists of her going to an caged area probably 10 x 12 feet or so and maybe a 20 foot high ceiling. They probably give her a tennis ball, basketball or something else and maybe a b-ball hoop to throw it through. She'd be shackled on the way to and from her rec time.

She also would get out 2-3 times a week for a quick shower. Other than that she's locked in a tiny little steel and concrete box barring admin hearings or court dates. If other inmates are in shouting distance she may have some form of human contact but I imagine that would consist of insane people's mindless rambling which probably go on at all hours of the day and night.

3 times a day her food will be slipped in to her cell. The cell itself is probably a 5 x 8 foot rectangle with a steel bad and a foam mattress, toilet and a sink, leaving enough non-occupied area to maybe do some push up or the like.

Given that it's her first month she will probably be allowed 1 30 minute call to immediate family. Those restrictions would likely be relaxed provided she can behave herself (a BIG if) She would be allowed to see her lawyer or a religious figure.

She probably has access to some reading material from the prison library, newspapers of magazines. Maybe a crayon and some paper as well. If she's lucky she might even have a radio. Misery could put $1,000,000 dollars on her canteen; it wouldn't matter as she likely has lost that privilege, at least for the time being.

Her time down there will probably make her even worse and her mental state will further deteriorate. But from the prison's perspective, at least she's not being disruptive in Gen-Pop and not assaulting staff. lizzie has really bottomed out. She's in the place they put you when you've been deemed unfit to even be in jail.

Yeah, his Christmas and Valentine's Day PYBRs are the biggest ones of the year. William's been decking the hallway leading up to his room with pine cones, candy canes, fake snow, stockings and pictures of little kids opening presents and playing in the snow for days now. Christmas Eve and Thanksgiving are the two days of the year where prisoners are given decent food. Inmates would save up their year's wages to splurge on these days and supplement the prison provided meal ,(which on those days wasn't that bad) with whatever they could make on their own. Inmates would get really creative bordering on ingenious with what they were able to make especially when supplemented with food stolen from the kitchen. Lots of the unwritten prison rules would be broken that day.

We would overlook minor infractions that we never would on any other day. I've seen half the unit drunk by noon. We'd look the other way twice a year. You'd even different races sharing food. That would NEVER happen any other time. Everybody let their guard down. We'd let the inmates stay up later to watch games. I even once ate some brownies that some Aryan Nation guys made from stuff they got from the commissary. Thus the ultimate boundary was even relaxed.

Christmas Eve and Thanksgiving are the two days where people can forget about the hell they are in and actually be humans.

Lizzie being in solitary would probably get the special prison provided dinner (which would be cold by the time it got to her)and maybe religious groups would come by and give her a goodie bag but that's about it for her. The hole is the hole.

Do the inamtes ever get to leave their cell? And when they are out of their cell, are they still isolated from everyone else?

They get to leave their cells once a day for an hour of rec time which consists being transferred to a slightly bigger cage with a barred roof so she can see the sky. There's probably a basketball hoop and maybe a pull up bar or dip rack. She probably gets some kind of ball to bounce around. She's shackled to and from the rec cage and possibly strip searched as well. 2 to 3 times a week she gets transported to take a shower.

Other than that, the only time she leaves is for admin hearings and court dates.
