Hey Root Boy sorry to see the hostility - life too short for that. What would you like to say to the rest of us of any substance or even fun. I know I talk too much, I know I am a homer, etc etc etc.

However I think you see that some of us are forming a genuine "community of interest" on this site. Sorry if your team is not amongst the favored or that you like to just make one off comments, or you forgot to kick your dog today, or whatever. You can start other threads if you like as seems that a few of us have actually been able to do something interesting with this one. I remember just a few weeks ago coming on this site and the typical contributions were like:

"go team go"
"our team is going to kick your ass"
"momma says stupid is as stupid will always be"
and a bunch of other shit like that

Say something interesting or at least fun.

Just remember as good as Centreville appears to be, you still cannot overlook tonight's opponent! Don't clear the space on the mantel for the trophy just yet...

Actually it was a text-in voting system that allowed Robinson-Westfield to be televised. Several of the schools had the oportunity to vote in their school. It should be on Gameday.

You are so clever! You know so much! You even know who my team is and that I have a dog. Amazing. Your contributions to this site have improved it immensely! Your analysis is above and beyond. You should be on Fox NFL Sunday. Now shut the fuck up and go pop some zits.

But, alas, I am at a loss. I would like to, but how does one get on the wall of fame if they will not take part in the incessant, incestuous, recursive conversation concerning Centreville, and NOTHING BUT Centreville, for DAYS at a time, ad nauseum?

Funny thing about this posting stuff, we might actually be sitting next to each other and not even know it!!!

Root Boy if you are there, I am 6'5" 300 lbs, used to play offensive tackle, moonlighted as a bouncer at a famous NYC bar, etc....

Ask a question or post a reasonable thought...we have talked about all of the other games including D6 and D5, we have talked about 757 teams, many other things. Again just be interesting....

Of course when there is dead air I will assuredly fall back on my CVille homerism....

You too can be part of the wall of fame, I actually forgive you for your choice words earlier, just add something.

Well, would you like me to talk endlessly about those wonderful squads over at George Marshall or Robert E. Lee? I can hear the rats scurrying to jump ship now.

Bring up a thoughtful discussion point about a team, and it will get discussed. It just so happens that the best teams get a little more coverage and attention, and that's probably a good thing.

No worries, I am enjoying myself and I am more chill than the north pole, and I am definitely having fun. I was going to go to the SC-CV game, but now that you mention that you are a 6-5 300-pounder, I'm kinda scared to show up now.

I will be just fine....Fortunately I think the idea of them getting to states is a sound one though, then when they play one of the 757 teams going to be a toss up.

Westfield has the best coaching staff overall. Year in and year out, they get results. THeir black mark is losing 2 NR finals on their home field. But look at the teams that went 12-0 back to back with no big time talent at any skill position. The 2012 team was virtually all new starters and they went 12-1. Even this years 9-2 team is not filled with talent. That's coaching.

I'm pretty sure it's the game of the week only because it potentially is the one that could go down to the wire. Would not be surprised one way or the other who wins unlike the others on tap.

Alright another poster with a meaningful comment. Thanks Jimmy V.

I am going to surprise my fans (and non-fans - smile) by saying that Westfield's coaches are right at the top. I think they squeezed a lot out of both of those squads. The 2011 CVille team was just destined in my opinion to win given history with Westfield and last year's Wfield team was solid but not great (and just ran into an incredibly hot team in Oakton.....similar to the Ravens last year in the NFL).

Well put - I think I've tried to say the same thing in a different way in the past. But they had decent RB's those 2 years.

JimmyV,

I agree to an extent but Stone Bridge, Lake Braddock, and Centreville have some great coaching as well.

In regard to Westfield’s talent, I'm not so sure, Tyler Thrasher-Walker, Evan Gray, Devon Burns, Tyler Sevener, Chase Koon, Connor McNulty, Eric Gardner, a certain #41 who I won't mention by name as to not upset Jovaq, Dontairo Moore, and James Gibson are all some pretty darn good players.

I was with Dan Meier and Son's in 09 Watching the Fairfax vs LB game when Haddock was coaching there, if it had not been for the FF running back fumbling 3-4 times inside the 10 yard line, FF looked like a college team compared to LB. It was a shame as FF was playing very well that year. There's no doubt he is a very good coach. I expect an amazing game up there. I will be attending the Rob-Westfield game even though I live next to LB. I thankfully will have guys text me up to date game stats.

Have fun at the games guys!!!

Saw LB-Yorktown:
1) LB's kicker put every KO into the end zone
2) LB's QB threw and ran like he did vs SoCo
3) Yorktown had no starting QB and a part-time Stewart due to injuries
4) In the first half, Yorktown fumbled on 1st and 10 at the LB 13 and later couldn't convert on 4th down inside the 15. It was 14-7 until 10 seconds left in the 2nd. On 4th down from around Yorktown's 40, LB's QB broke a potential sack and threw a rope to the end some to make it 20-7. It was game over. The final score 40-7 vs. a depleted underdog felt about right.

Both times I've seen the LB QB he made good reads, threw well, and ran vertically whenever he needed yards. Having seen LB score 85 points in 2 games now, I think this team's air game could give anybody trouble. If you want to beat LB, you better pressure the QB. Otherwise, he will create plus he has receivers who can go up and get the ball.

A good W for LB and a good experience for a former D5 moving up to the big time.

Hey all, back from the CVille SOCO game. Just to show you that a homer CVille can call a spade a spade I almost shit my pants in the first half. SOCO came out 21-0 on the strength of a real hectic no huddle offense and some well placed onside kicks. Congrats to them for the really good haymaker they put on the Wildcats the first half. I was extremely impressed and happy to admit nervous as hell watching the first half (smile).

Thank goodness from there we outscored them 55-14 going away but it was still a game midway into the third quarter. The defense finally made some adjustments and AJ Turner and Chad Wiggins showed why they are bona fide stars - making plays all over the place.

Immediate judgements (I will have more when my heart jumps back into my body:

(1) Good wake up call for the Cats, don't think they took them too lightly but of course they needed a challenge and they sure go it tonite
(2) Coaches there will need to work a lot on the defense against the option and spread (and no huddle) because of course other teams will try to duplicate SOCO's early success
(3) Strange aberration tonite CVille just did not tackle well, do not expect to see that again
(4) In any event great teams do not fold under the pressure and get back up after haymakers. Thank god CVille did just that. Onward and upward....
(5) Finally not quite ready to call myself a dumbshit yet (smile)

Centreville still won!!! They had to play against SoCo who executed a flawless game and the refs. SoCo recovered 2 onside kicks, converted on a fake punt and scored on a fake field goal.

As for the refs, Centreville had 3 TD's called back due to bullshit calls. And did I mention the bullshit calls? They were all against centreville! I've never in my life have any seen anything like it. It was so obvious that the Refs were on Soco's payroll.

Anyway, great game SoCo, if it were any other team you would have blown them out. Unfortunately, it wasn't any other team, it was the CENTREVILLE WILDCATS!!!!

Soco had quite phenomenal luck. 2 onside kicks they recovered went of Centreville players' hands. They ran at least one, maybe two fake punts that went for first downs and a fake field goal that scored a touchdown. Pannoni acted like he was playing madden, with all sorts of odd calls. But I give him credit for that, pulling out all the stops like that. I personally think the second half was more representative of what Centreville is than the first, but either way, it's quite a wake up call for them.

I did not see cville since about the middle of last year and thought that they may have some trouble with the triple option. They came out flat, had trouble with their assignments and when they did get the assignments right SoCo backs broke tackles on about every play (through middle of 2nd qtr.). CVille had particular trouble with plays that involved misdirection. On offense SoCo loaded up the box and bottled up CVille until they started throwing short passes that got their play makers in open space and one on one with SoCo defenders. Once in open space and one on one it was easy going for CVille. On coaching Pannoni pulled out all the stops going for it on fourth down in most cases, tried and recovered two and possibly three on side kickoffs and at least two successful fake punts. It is unfortunate that the refs were an issue as well because this was one of the worst games for officiating that I have ever seen. For a while it appeared that they were going to affect the outcome of the game and that is unfortunate for that to happen in a playoff game. Phantom interference calls, holding calls, and unsportsmanlike conduct penalties which may have been the only thing that they did correctly. Not necessarily the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty calls which were bad but making the calls to keep the game under control. Wiggins had a huge game on defense and Nickens-Yzer and Turner had huge games on offense. Walters had his usual game, nothing spectacular but ran the ball well when needed, was fairly accurate on his short throws and had enough attempts down field to open up the running game. The only injury for CVille that I could see was John Jennings and it appeared that he either had a lower leg bruise or high ankle sprain.

Thanks to the other commenters. Agree with the terrible officiating, luck on some of the go-for-it calls that Pannoni made, etc. but still want to give SOCO due credit. They came to play and for a half had us believing they just might pull it off. Agreed good half time adjustments by CVille and the fact that Turner and Wiggins are just supernatural took over....

Just getting back from the game. What A Game!!! Hats off to the Centreville Wildcats. As you guys were down, I looked at the sidelines and saw how you guys kept your composure. Truly Remarkable. In addition to Turner and wiggins who played lights out, Taylor Boose came through big time! Gave us the yards when we needed the most. Oh an also hats off to Nickens-Yzer for hanging in there. Apparently he was in so much pain he could only play defense and made some crucial plays.

Who else am I forgetting...

A tight game pretty much from start to finish. Overall Westfield had the better running game, Robinson had the better passing game.

Both teams held the ball well – a lot of time-consuming drives. Westfield sustained a few of their drives by putting Devon Burns at QB again. I’d guess they ran nearly 10 plays with Burns at QB – and most of them were for decent yardage – Burns had 6 carries for 72 yards according to WP (not including the obligatory 40+ yard run called back on a penalty - Westfield always has at least 1 or 2 or 3 big plays called back per game).

Westfield defense had 1 bad series in the second half – started with a roughing the passer penalty (on an incomplete pass) and followed it up a few plays later by leaving Ackerman by himself on a 31 yard TD pass. I don’t think there was a Westfield player within 20 yards of him. Was not a trick play.

#30 Savon Martin had a couple of impact plays in the second half – a big -13 sack of Rowlett and a -3 yard tackle for loss on Wilson.

Wilson broke a big run to the outside in the second half after a Westfield punt – 33 yard gainer - and I thought it was a sure TD but Westfield’s DB’s ran him down. I was sorta surprised at that – when I saw #32 get the sideline I was certain it was going to be a TD.

But I suppose the story of the game has to be the running of Tyler Thrasher-Walker – despite everyone knowing they were going to run and #22 was going to get the carry : WP has him at 207 yards on 29 carries for the game. Scored 3 TD’s. Westfield has given Evan Gray only 6 carries in their 2 playoff games. Passing game for Westfield? Non-existent. I don’t recall Scoville completing a single pass the entire game. Not saying he didn’t but none come to mind.

Robinson was tenacious and stayed in this game until the end when they finally went out on downs with about 1:35 left in the game around the Westfield 40. They had their chances – late 3rd or early 4th quarter they had a dropped pass on a wide-open play that would have been a nice gainer and kept the chains moving. That was a big unforced error.

Westfield #29 Rashuane Rice had the game’s only interception – on Robinson’s second or third series - and a good return deep into Robinson territory (he’s also the DB that ran down Wilson).

Special teams played a big role – Robinson’s punter hit a couple of nice punts including pinning Westfield at the 2 yard line at one point. Westfield’s punter also had a big punt leaving Robinson at their 5 yard line in the 4th quarter down by 7. Westfield’s kicker missed a FG right before the half (missed one last week also) – looked like about 39 yarder.

Not a lot of big plays in this game – both teams seemed to play it safe and not take many risks.

Ok after playing it straight and eating crow I am now ready to respond in kind to comments like that. Don't believe that any #28 being lost meant 55 points for CVille do you? Or secondarily why doesn't SOCO have something more than a freshman to back up at MLB? Or third how much did you pay those refs...I am an old ref myself so don't like to play this card but I will with this one - most one side reffing I have ever seen.....

I came up from Hampton to watch my grandson play against Centerville
I also saw them play Braddock a few weeks back.

Hats off to Centerville for the comeback victory over South County who some called on here, a average NOVA team.I thought they was better then people give them credit for on here.

After watching this game, I now see Braddock as the top team from NOVA, they are more similar to the 757 teams. They have a good mix of passing and running and could give the South teams problems. They have some real good athletes at receiver and real big and strong too. The Qb is a big fellow who runs strong and throws the ball down field.

I still think Centerville is a very good team, but not as good as everybody thought they was. The 757 teams do much better against the run first teams.
I do like they defense, big strong players hard to run against.

Good luck to all the NOVA teams

Broad Run upsets Stone Bridge 23 - 21 after getting pounded by them earlier in the year.

Hats off to BR Coach Matt Griffis, who coached with SB Coach Thompson for years.

Re-match with Briar Woods, who destroyed Mountain View, does not look easy for Broad Run, but they will make it closer than last time.

Just an excellent high school football game. 1st victory for Broad Run over Stone Bridge ever!

Haven't seen any Falls Church posts. Was that game postponed or something?

You are forgetting Scotty Walter. Down 21-0, he threw for 2 TDs in less than 3 minutes to end the half, then ran 30 yards for a TD to tie the score 21-21 early in the 3rd.

Centreville had not one but 3 touchdowns called back!!! Trust me they are good. Especially if they could beat an excellent team 76 - 35. Oh that's right, 3 TD's were called back so 55-35.

After watching the Centreville-South County game a few things were evident.

1) South County's offense is the best I have seen so far. 99 yard touchdown drive on suppository the best defense in the state.

2) Centreville has all of the championship components. No turnovers, little mistakes.

3) South County beat themselves. 4 (5?) turnovers

4) South County out coached Centreville. Perfectly executing fakes and onside kicks.

5) Centreville vs. LB will surely be a great game.

Major scores of game:

Soco up 21-0

Soco up 21-14 (half)

Tied 35-35 (4th quarter)

Centrevile broke away with a long drive to go up 42-35. After a long Symmes run to the 40 he fumbled. Allowing Cville to go up 49-35 just like that. Ending the game.

As much as I didnt care for being behind much of the C'ville SoCo game, I dont think anyone can say it wasnt an exciting game. Yes, the officiating was questionable, but you also have to give the SoCo boys credit for an awesome performance.
They may have come in knowing they were underdogs, but that didnt stop them from abusing the Cats early.
Thankfully there were no heartattacks in the stands on either side as this was the most intense game we've seen this year. If anything, its a wake up call to C'ville to remain focused for the remianing games.
And no post would be complete with acknowledging the incredible talent displayed by AJ Turner's mom who belted out a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem at the start of the game!
SoCo team can be proud of their season, and if C'ville goes all the way, that success will be due in part to the lessons from this game!

Way to call it like it is Cat Dad, SOCO had 3 TD drives in the first QTR, Cville had 0 first downs in 1st Qtr. SOCO went up 35 to 28 and recovered the onside but then fumbled on next play. That was 1 big momentum swing. once tied SOCO QB had a 40 yard run but credit to Cville running him down blindside tomahawk fumble and Cville went up. When tide SOCO MLB #28 went out and the young LB that replaced him touched Turner and Boose on their TD runs but just wasn,t strong enough to get them down. I am amazed Cville fans are complaining about calls when on the fake punt the Cville tight end helo soco right in front of the ref and he touched his flag and decided to swallow the whistle. Cvill is a really good team. Turner, Boose, and Tutt are the real deal. From what I hear these kids are very good kids. Wish nothing but Luck to Cville. SOCO kids played great and looks Like they rushed for 400 yards and dominated Cville Dline. Cville is a big play team their stud athletes can house the ball at any moment. Credit to Cville with a hand in 1 of the fumbles but SOCO hurt themselves with fumbles 4 and you don't win with 5 turnovers no matter how great your offense plays. To be honest I think that will be the hardest game Cville has the rest of the way. The triple option is hard to defend and no one can just copy that in a week or 2, that takes weeks and weeks to learn and perfect. Go back and watch on gameday and you will see most of the calls were good.

Who do you think your fooling SoCo Dad. If you watched that game as a nuetral fan you had to come away blown away by the one sided officiating against Cville. Watch it on Gameday and explain to me how when the SoCo punt receiver goes to fair catch the punt and muffs it, the back judge blows the play dead before Cville has a chance to recover? How do you go offside when the SoCo center forgets to snap the ball and the officials pick up the flag and give them a do over. What about the phantom pass interference call that extended the SoCo drive in the 4th Qrt when the game was close? There was no Cville player within 10 yards of the play. I could go on and on they threw 24 flags against Cville!

That was the worst officiated game I have ever seen. The thing that boggles the mind is we are in the playoffs and these guys are supposed to be a quality crew. SoCo runs an up tempo offense getting to the ball and running the play quickly, the problem is you still have to be set for a second before the snap. SOCo continually was moving as the ball was snapped. They got called for it a couple of times BUT they could have been called on 90% of their plays. It was almost like the officials just decided to live with it and not flag them for it.

Mr nuetral fan wants to point out a non call on a play where a flag was not thrown, C'MON MAN! Man up and just tell us your upset because your team lost.

How far can LB go this year? Am curious to learn what you think.

I saw LB drop 45 on SoCo and 40 on depleted Yorktown. Everybody knows LB's QB is big and can throw. Yet he also runs well whenever he needs yards. So you have to stay in your zones to keep him behind the line. Otherwise, he will find a lane and pickup 6-10. There's more. LB has a few receivers who downfield jump up and get the ball. That's somewhat of a lost art vs. the days when DBs could bump or shove as long as the ball wasn't in the air yet. Lastly, LB's kicker can put it in the end zone almost every time, the team has a decent run game and a few good athletes on D.

So I LIKE this team a lot, but here's one problem I see. LB's D is not nearly as imposing as the O. Smith team I saw crush defending D5 champ Lake Taylor in the opener, 42-2. Smith's D line looks much tougher--big, physical and quick. Plus, its LBs and CBs get to the ball much quicker than the depleted Yorktown backs who played so far off the line that LB could throw flash screens all night.

LB's passing and balance on O could give any team in the state trouble. Having played for Hampton 1996-98, I feel like D looms large at states. I just wonder if LB's D can hang vs. O. Smith or teams I haven't seen such as C'ville, Westfield, SJ and Ocean Lakes. What do you think at this point?

Good points, EasternVAFan.

I saw C'Ville last night and can tell you that those dudes can play. SoCo had it going on, but kept fumbling. I can't tell you this any other way: C'Ville unleashed the fury in the last part of the 3rd quarter and the whole 4th quarter. I haven't seen LB or the beach teams teams but C'Ville will be tough to beat if it plays all 4 quarters. That said, the place was dead when it was 21-0.

Posters who questioned its D turned out to be right. SoCo got burned for 2 long TDs in the first half when it had the lead and then gave up 3 long runs for TDs in the 4th when it counted most. Easy to fool that D but give SoCo credit for a good season and its tricky option O.

I am a firm believer that game would have been much easier for Centreville if they scored earlier and were ahead. It would have changed SOCO's play calling in trying to catch up. When CVille finally was up by a TD, SOCO changed their offense a bit by trying to pass more which is definitely not their strength. Since SOCO had the lead, they controlled the game and CVille Defense was struggling with their quick snap offense.

That being said, ANYONE that thinks Cville would struggle to play 4 quarters of quality football since they have not really had to this year is seriously mistaken. Many of these players were on both sides of the ball and played the entire game with BETTER defense in the 4th quarter. Also, I think SOCO's offense ran out of steam as quick offense like that has a hard time doing it for 4 qtrs as many of those fumbled were caused by poor execution from exhaustion. That also goes for their defense. CVIlle also won in spite of the officiating.

Credit to SOCO for calling a good game and shocking CVille but CVille never panicked and kept playing their game.

Where's the poster who bragged this week about LC having the galaxy's best football? I'd appreciate his insight on N. Stafford' easy win over the Tuscarora team he touted and also N. Stafford's win at BW this year. LC has good FB for sure -- but welcome to the world of playing schools of similar size. You are lucky that SB's nemesis, Phoebus, is now D4. Fortunately, the gods of FB have given you Bird in D5 instead. In case you don't know Bird, see who won D6 at UVA last year. That's a division no LC has ever won a title in; hopefully soon you will have a D6 school and find out what Concorde, Patriot and other districts around VA have found. It's hard to title once you get to D5 and D6.

Both games - LB/WF and C'ville/SJ should be good, but will they be close?
SJ seems like its on a roll, and WF seems like they are struggling.
Can SJ keep it going and does WF have what it takes to stop LB?

Now that I have gotten over the excitement of the game I am also getting better perspective on Cville's win last night over SOCO.

(1) Football Fever you are right that had CVille gotten ahead (and by the way an AJ Turner interception for TD was called back for BS reasons in the first quarter.
(2) As stressful as the first half was it was probably good for CVille to take a punch like this as their games have simply been way too uncompetitive to this point
(3) They showed tremendous resolve and as another poster suggested above unleashed the fury in the second half. Good for them not to fold the tents at a little adversity.
(4) Of course they need to get by Stroman and Stonewall next week (but after this wake up call I expect they will do that) but then assuming they play Lake Braddock (watch out Braddock fans though for a rejuvenated Westfield team) I think they will be fine. Although excellent, LB's offense is more conventional and I think CVille will be able to contain Henderson to something reasonable (like I have always been saying perhaps 24 points). But previous posters are correct Lake Braddock's defense is just good, not great (plus they lost some significant parts to injury including Lomax just this past week). Still predicting a CVille 35-24 win assuming that will happen.
(5) Finally if we all had to select teams (like grade school dodgeball) if I had the first pick I would be happy to select AJ Turner over anyone in the Northern Region. Best two way player I have seen in a long time....RB, WR, FS, Punt and Kick Returner - just incredible. And by the way, no bullshit with him, love the way he does his job (incredibly of course) and then does not showboat or make any fuss. Just hands the ball to the ref and on to the next thing. Good job young man!

Predictions for the next round

Centreville 45 Stonewall 28 (don't sleep on Greg Stroman but CVille has now had and withstood its wake up call)

Lake Braddock 35 Westfield 21 (Braddock is nicked up and Westfiled is putting some things together but Braddock will have more than enough)

Prediction for State semis

Centreville 35 Lake Braddock 24 (Both superlative offenses Lake Braddock a 10 and CVille perhaps a 9 but CVille a 9/10 on defense whereas Lake Braddock is more like a 6 - not bad just not great)

To some previous posts, indeed congrats to Falls Church....love when a team can change around the culture of a program from losing to on the ups. Nicely done!

Think SOCO would have been very competitive in D5 this year on the strength of that offense. But sort of a moot point.....what if Westfield and Centreville were still one school (smile)?

With halftime adjustments on defense, SJ has rallied to win against higher seeded Langley and W-L. Injury prone in the regular season, SJ is finally proving themselves in the playoffs. Stroman, who missed a few games mid-season, is one of the best QBs in the state. He is an excellent dual-threat QB and evaporated W-L's lead in the 4th qtr. W-L had a comeback drive in the final minute to tie the game but was intercepted. Same story with Langley, Behind Stroman's 3 second half rushing TDs, SJ ran up the score, and Langley missed a game tying field goal. The upcoming SJ Centerville game should be fun to watch.

Just want to post the CLASSLESS soco fans last night. Someone told me that a student went over to SOCO's side as part of the 50/50 fundraiser in the first half WHEN THEY WERE WINNING, and they were assholes to him. That was a fundraiser. Never heard that before with any other opposing team and it is sad that they acted that way. While I could wish a number of different dumb things, I think for those close to the game, having that sick feeling in their stomach by having a 3 TD lead against the #1 team then losing significantly is good enough for me and they can stay home for the rest of the tournament. What they may not be aware of is IF THEY HAD WON, they would have been hosting SJ this week as the higher seed. Sucks for SOCO

How about the classless, asshole Centreville parent on their chain crew who got ejected by the refs for clapping in a SoCo coach's face and taunting him. Cops were waiting by the fence to escort him out. Class act, Centreville!

Never said Loudoun County was the best, however, it is time that Fairfax folks acknowledge that their neighbors to the north have more quality programs, and are extremely competitive despite being smaller schools.

Tuscarora is the 4th best team in Ashburn/Leesburg area, so yes, expected them to lose to North Stafford. Think I might have even said that on here.

Stone Bridge was down a bit this year, but gave Braddock all it could handle and then some. Anyone who saw the Westfield-Stone Bridge game knows the score was an aberration due to unforced turnovers.

Broad Run mauls Liberty, who then go on a tear.

Woodgrove just destroyed Eastern View.

We in Ashburn know why Mickey Thompson desperately wants to keep playing Fairfax schools. He knows that week in and week out, playing in Fairfax is easier than playing in Loudoun, despite playing schools with much larger enrollments.

Oh, and Briar Woods is going to avenge their loss to North Stafford or beat Massaponex before running into a superior Byrd team in the finals.

And no, we won't have D6 teams in the future because it is no good to pack 2600 - 300 kids in a high school! We'll keep ours at 1600- 2000 and be much happier, thank you.

Just a question Wrote:

Good question. SoCo and Yorktown traded D5 playoffs wins vs each other with SoCo winning big in 2011 and Yorktown winning big in 2012. Each won a D6 playoff game this year, so they did what was expected per the seedings. This year vs common opponents ('Tilly, Hayfield and LB), Yorktown went 2-1; SoCo 1-2. Yorktown was so banged up late season (2012 all-met Stewart, the QB, etc.) that it would have been very tough to get back to the region final for a 3rd straight year. Might have even lost in the second round this year. Even though SoCo did worse vs. common opponents, it is not as banged up plus its option is hard to stop unless you see it often in games, practice and on film. Having played v GA TECH, I can tell you that teams with better athletes get fooled just like everybody else does. So SoCo would be a tough draw in D5 North and might still be playing.

But the South has talent in D5 and I don't think SoCo could beat Bird or Lake Taylor. Bird, the 2012 D6 champ, is unbeaten and has wins over defending D5 champ Lake Taylor and Hermy. Lake Taylor has lost only to unbeatens Bird and O. Smith. Lake Taylor muted SB's ESPN stars last year at UVA and has a ton of players back.

The comments about the Cville chain gang parent is a bit blown out of portion. True it never should have happened!! He has no kids there. It was a reaction to a coach being up in arms about a blown call by the refs. I am NOT blaming the coach, as I said it never should have happened!! He was not ejected by the refs. The other members of the chain gang removed him from the area and the cops were there the whole time and were not waiting to escort him out. It was a stupid thing to do. Saw the coaching staff and the other members of the chain gang crew talking and getting along just fine after that.

Props to south county for throwing several haymakers to go up 21-0 at centreville. But let's talk facts, south county's up tempo offense was impressive. Centreville was extremely flat to start the game (probably because they haven't faced a true test this year like south county). South county was able to run the football and keep centrevilles high powered offense off the field. That being said, south county had several 4th down conversions that most people would have punted on(I understand it worked, so props to them). They needed a fake punt, two onside kicks the centreville had there hands on, and a fake field goal for a touchdown. Once centreville was able to get their offense on the field south county luck ran out. Centreville proceeded to emphatically score 55 points (with 3 touchdowns called back). South county had zero answer, and learned why centreville one of the two best teams in this area. AJ turner is the best football player this area has seen in a long time. He completely dominated the game. Their defense started to settle down and read the option offense better. Long story short, south county pull off several trick/lucky plays the most teams wouldn't try. They were not able to keep up the trickery and Ucentreville proved why they are so unique and dominate. Good luck to both teams in the future.

Back to you, HEY SECEAST: You post that LC has “more quality programs” than FC? You must be new or something.
Only 3 LC schools have titled in D4-D5 and all 5 were vs. smaller schools See enrollments in the year the game was played in parenthesis and then ask yourself about BW's 3 titles:
2012 BW (1594) beat Heritage ( 1111)
2011BW (1594) beat Christiansburg, (1062)
2010 BW (1405) beat Harrisonburg (1276).
2009 BR (1603) beat Amherst County (1474)
2008 BR (1479) beat Amherst County (1460)
2007 SB (1709) beat Potomac (1637)
And don't crown that 2007 SB team as NOVA's best; its 1 loss was to Robinson 41-14.

Had BW/BR been in D5 as they should have been, here is who they would have faced:
2012: Lake Taylor, which beat SB at UVA.
2011: Phoebus
2010: Phoebus
2009: Phoebus
2008: Phoebus.
How many titles would you have playing those teams?
http://www.vhsl-reference.com/team_enrollments_by_year.cfm

In contrast with LC, SIX different FC teams have won D6 VA titles in the past 20 years:
Annandale,
Chantilly
Centreville
Westfield
Robinson
Chantilly.

Who has "more quality programs" this year? SB lost to Westfield/LB and squeaked by Fairfax. The losses weren’t aberrations or because of school size. SB had poor ball control just like at UVA last year. BW is finally gets in the right class and immediately gets spanked at home by N. Stafford, 19-7. Tuscarora got crushed last night, 39-20. Does anybody think that BW, BR or SB would beat C'Ville, LB and Westfield?

NOVA football is great, including what's played in both FC and LC. Yet to claim that LC has “more quality programs” than FC is paternalistic at best. You claim foul when LC schools lose to bigger FC schools, yet that is how you won every title. Come back when LC has 6 different schools that win VA titles in the right class. In the meantime, enjoy your “smaller” schools while you can. You see the track housing being built in LC. It won’t be long before those small schools you tout become big schools. Again, you must be new here because the same thing happened to FC after Tysons was built years ago.

South County also had a touchdown called back, so that really is not a valid point. One of Centreville's TDs got called back because a block in the back. That's just careless football. Ref is going to call that every time. We all know Centreville is the better team, but South County was there hardest test by far. Had the game win until the 4th quarter.
