They attacked bank fees, which banks will evade to get money elsewhere like no more free checking accounts. they didn't do anything about Fannie/Freddie or with derivatives trading, which Dodd saying in an interview with CNBC that it was "too hard" and "too complicated" to do. But all of those were critical causes of the meltdown. I don't even know if they did anything about ratings agencies'
