I think this needs to move to the newly-created off-topic forums... I don't see any direct bearing on Fairfax County here.

I took a household gun safety course for mine and it counts too. I think that was a more well-rounded course and very informative. Along with showing different gun safes and locks, they went over all the bas

NRA range use requires that you take a multiple-choice test before you use it. If you have taken a basic firearm safety course it won't be any problem. Most of the answers to the test can be found in the room where they give it... on posters describing key safety points, etc. After reviewing the test with you they give you a range card, which you can then use to get you in anytime after that.

I go to their range sometimes but all the employees there are moody, arrogant assholes. I always have to ask myself if it's worth the shorter drive to go there and deal with those people than drive to the NRA HQ range where

By the way, it's USA PATRIOT Act. USA PATRIOT is an acronym, so please stop trying to propagate this common error.

Layman: this would be a bit difficult to add because the arrest listings don't list zip code.

I guess Cox is worried about FIOS... they are automatically upping speed for their regular HSI customers from 4Mbps to 5. Then again I'm lucky if I hit 3 so maybe now I'll be able to see what 4 is like.

I can't remember passing on the right ever being legal in VA. However very few know that left turn on red from a one-way onto a one-way is legal, which comes in handy at the 7100-29 clusterfuck.

I'm sure the point of sale sevices there have more computing power than what sent Apollo to the moon... not bad for a machine that assists with selling hot dogs and sodas.

If you want you can get a report from this place: http://www.backgroundchecks.com . But I have heard people say they looked up friends in jail and they didn't appear there, so the service may not be worth much.

Cary, that link is teh shit. I had jury duty back in 2001 and wanted to find out what happened with some guy's case I didn't get picked for. Turned out I still can't find him but will keep trying. But that is uber-cool.

True and understandable... I'd say go to the arrest search page and use the link there to the "comments and suggestions" thread link and post a note there to add that little factoid. Better yet, maybe Cory can encourage people to register by offering to remove their entries from his dump of the arrest database if they register. Of course then every sex offender will register here... maybe not s

Sounds like someone who is on the list who is guilty. The fairfax county web site tells users the list is arrests and not convictions.

I used to believe software development should be easy enough for anyone to do, but you really have to have a brain that's built for that kind of thing. I'm not talking smarts... I'm talking about the ability to keep track if three or four loose ends in your head, and bringing them all together in a sitting. So yeah, it's easy for those who are predisposed to that kind of thing. Plus people may

If they yanked him out of the car they may have burned their hands or something. NOW who's heartless ?! Who was there to account for what he yelled as he burned to death if all his friends took off running? Sounds like another "story".
