Considering that you have to go to a gas station for an annual inspection at the same time the emission is due, why would anyone bother with Rapid Pass?

Nope, not the one in Chicago. It's a chain in Maryland, that started in Ellicott City a few years ago: http://www.coalfireonline.com/index.php I've eaten at the original in Ellicott City as well as the one in Gaithersburg, and their pizzas are awesome. Glad to see they're expanding into Virginia! The website says coming in Spring 2014, so they're taking their sweet time.

Wait another 5-15 days, genius. They have 20 business days from the time they get your request to respond, or 10 days if it's related to the Privacy Act.

Forget public transportation. The MARC trains are set up for commuters coming to DC from Baltimore, not the reverse, so the timing is terrible. Plus, Baltimore doesn't have nearly the subway infrastructure that DC has, so once you got off the train at Penn or Camden Station, how would you get to your job? Before I moved to Fairfax to be closer to my job in DC, I lived in Ellicott City. It's a ve

Strangely enough, the Kmart in Chantilly always has a few Penguins shirts mixed in with the other sports teams' stuff.

Funny, when I went they were out of beans. They screwed up my order twice, and even though it wasn't crowded, the wait was long because they all seemed to be standing around unsure of what to do. The food was good, but it's disappointing to hear that they're still having problems with service and inventory.

Now if they can just stop the guy riding the train to Vienna who's soliciting. Black guy, white t-shirt, black cap. He got into a fight with a guy who reported him to a conductor a few days ago at West Falls Church, then jumped across two sets of tracks to hop a train in the other direction and avoid the police that boarded at the next station. Today he got on the train, said his piece, sang a so

The Chicago Dawg House, in the shopping center next to the Dulles Expo Center, has decent hot dogs. There's also the Wiener's Circle up in Herndon, but they're only open for lunch. If nothing else, Five Guys does a good hot dog.

I've seen the ice cream sign over there for a few weeks and have been meaning to stop by. At least it's not another frozen yogurt place.

I vacation there with a group of friends every June, and it's a great little city. The downtown area is small and walkable, with a lot of cool shops and restaurants, and you're very close to the beach area (the water's a lot clearer than VA or MD). As long as you won't miss the big city, it seems like a great place to live.

You do realize that none of their stuff is behind a paywall, right? You can register some dummy account and read whatever you want.

Looked inside last week, and the interior hadn't changed since I'd looked a month or so prior; the wallpaper from the pizza place is still up. There was a UPS notice stuck to the door from a week before. Looks like nothing's coming anytime soon.

The ABC store on James Swart Circle isn't closed. According to the sign in the window, they're remodeling, and will reopen in a few weeks.

As others have said, Aldi is extremely low end. Mostly their own brand stuff, small store (they're usually about half the size of that Shoppers) and you have to pay for each plastic bag you use.

Nope, there's a signal there. It's easy to miss if you don't know where to turn, but you don't need to make a u-turn.

I live very close, and do most of my grocery shopping at that Giant; it's nice because they're never that busy on a Saturday. I shopped there today, and there are no indications that the store is closing or that a Target is moving in.

It's easy enough to find someone on Craigslist who's looking to give away their pet. It's a shame that adoption procedures are so invasive, but there are ways around it.

Then why is gas still $3.43 in Fairfax City, even with people making a run on the pumps? $3.99 is gouging.

Sure, I've been to all of them, since when I moved up here from NC in 2001, I lived in Forestville. Fun times for a white country boy. Landover and Iverson I only went to once. Landover seemed alright, but it was almost closed. Iverson was incredibly ghetto, and once I heard the stories about crime there, I never went back. Greenbelt Plaza was pretty snazzy, though I haven't been in years.

Jermantown/Blake and 123, if you're on Jermantown. The light heavily favors 123, so you'll be stuck there awhile morning/afternoon.
