Update: Just had the buffet and Bombay Tandoor in Tysons Corner. Food is decent and they had goat, which is a big plus. But man have the prices gone up. They charged $22.

29 Diner hopes that by increasing the taxes in Fairfax County, more people will come to his diner in Fairfax City. Good luck with that. Go to any Silver Diner and pick up your "No Meals Tax" sticker. Eat a better meal for less money while you are there.

I don't know how people are coming up with some of these numbers. I've dined at the Inn twice and stayed overnight once, and while expensive, it isn't $1500 for dinner unless you are going crazy on the wine. I believe the current price for the tasting menu is around $180, so dinner for two is $360 plus tax/tip. I guess if you spent $900 on wine you could get to $1500, but you should be able to

Actually, I think the buffet at Obi in Reston Town Center is better than the one at Worldgate. There aren't as many non-sushi alternatives in the buffet, but the sushi is by far better quality--larger pieces and better fish. The price is a couple of dollars cheaper too at $13.

Took the family there once. Lousy service, mediocre food, pricey tab. Never again.

If a waiter spit in my food, I would stalk him/her out of the restaurant at the end of their shift, find out where they lived, and then murder them in their sleep. Just something for the spitters to keep in mind. And no, I'm not joking in the slightest.

New to the board so forgive if a repeat...looking for good non-chain restaurants in Fairfax and appreciate your recommendations. A bit of a food snob but open minded! :-)

Yes, I get that response every time I post my thoughts about a new restaurant. WTL accused me of being a paid shill for Trummer's, someone said something similar about my post about Ozzie's. This is a forum for things of interest to people in Fairfax County and there are often threads about restaurants. I just thought others might be interested in a new spot I have been enjoying. hoocoodanode

This is hands down the best new fast food place I have been to. They take the PeiWei approach where you order at a counter and wait staff bring your food to the table. The food, however, is much better quality. The bill it as "Indian food redefined." I've had the Biriyani, spicy Tandoori, and the Kadai--all were excellent. Lunch entrees are around $10 and you can easily get in and out in hal

There are lots of different types of dining, and claiming that there is only one kind of restaurant you should go to is about like saying the best food is lobster and you should only eat that. GAR is not a high-end dining experience, but they have very good food at their price level and very good service. There are times when I go to a restaurant to have a three-hour, multi-course meal with exp

Lunch? Your best bet would be the panini, which are priced around $10. They also have a burger for the same price. From the website: Some information on how we decided on the name: Many guests know our VP of Kitchen Operations, Chris Osborn, as “Ozzie†and are familiar with his famous rolls. “Corner†because we are on the corner of the building and in Fairfax Corner.
