from 2009:

"My 20-year High School Reunion was last weekend: Vienna, Virginia’s James Madison High School Class of 1989. I went without my wife, so I was without a chaperone… and therefore it was 6th gear all night long. Suffice to say, if I act like I did at the 20th when I attend the 30th, I won’t live to see the 40th. A great bunch of folks, those ‘89ers… so much love. A great time, and if you ever doubt whether you should go to a reunion, doubt not. GO. And leave your wife at home. Oh, and by comparison, I seem to have held up pretty well. I’m just sayin’…"

God help the JMHS Class of 1989 if he's an exemplar of holding up well.

Holding up that monumental gut is an achievement, I have to admit.

I'm certain the comments made by his classmates were:

"DAMN, did you see how FAT he is?"

"WTF is a podcast?"

"He hasn't changed, still fat and one can stand him."

"Does his mouth EVER close?"

Damn peekza, you can sure pick a picture.... It got more action than a week's worth of TMOS.

My 2 cents on the arguing and ignoring certain individuals: It's not that hard to scroll past the shit you don't want to read, and yes, without responses they usually go away. So if you don't want Riot to call you a fag, don't engage, and the same goes for anyone else you want to quit posting here. Except, of course, for peekza who will be here long after the rest of us give up, even if he only has himself to talk to.

That post from 2009 would have coincided with Rob(b)'s second banana stint on WJFK. He probably thought he was shitting in high cotton at the time. Unlike everyone else, he was oblivious to the fact, or in denial, that his celebrity run couldn't continue with a show in 23rd place.

The sad factt is thatt Fatt Rob NEVER peaked. Which is why Cary calls him in their private moments ''tedious, unfunny cunt.''

As has been stated on several occasions, Fatt Rob was the only one that didn't take a pay cut in the transition to podcast. Think about that. He was "living the dream" at JFK and making less than he makes now on a third tier podcast. He really did fail forward on LFF's coattails. Too bad LFF won't make it to 60 and Blob(b) will have to tell his kids to kick rocks when they ask for him to chip in on college tuition.

Here is where Mike fucked up big time.

Rob was a great part of the goof troop. Dennis, Tom, The Belcher, etc. all great additions to the show.

In small doses they were great. When they got outta hand and annoyed the audience, Don would smack them back into place.

When Mike tried to do his own show, he should have kept Rob in that same role. Instead he promoted him to second chair. That killed the show and killed Mikes career.

Rob was great as the Pilgrim wearing fat intern, eating Recess Pieces and having his Mom call in the show to bitch about how Don and Mike were picking on him.

Rob is absolute poison as a second chair.

The failcast's central operating principle is "The Absolute Minimum." The best you can say is that they do the show (most of the time). But it's minimum prep, minimum laughs, minimum everything. It exists; that's it.

As the only girl in HS who gave Robbie a second look (nothing happened), I have followed his career with interest. So, just to be accurate, our reunion was 10/10/09, and he'd been unemployed for a few months by then. Here's his Robblog post from 9/17/09:

"Well, after 17 years of slaving at the Ol’ Salt Mines (as Fred Rutherford would say to Ward Cleaver), I have found unemployment to be exceptionally weird; it changes lots of things. For example, I never need to stop anymore in the evening and wonder if I should have “just one more drink” (I usually go for it), I get to sleep until I wake up EVERY morning, and all the elementary school moms already know that I am the Dad that can always be there. After all, where else do I have to go?"

I know Rob has touch on his mental illness in the past and how he suffers from ADHD, but I think the guy is full blown nuts.

He really is delusional.

"Grandiose delusions are distinct from grandiosity, in that the sufferer does not have insight into his loss of touch with reality. An individual is convinced he has special powers, talents, or abilities. Sometimes, the individual may actually believe they are a famous person or character."

I think Rob would have been better off in life had he just went out and got a normal job with benefits and retirement.

I think the whole being on the radio has just feed into his disorder.

If he had any normal, adult, male friends I think it would give him some perspective.

He should talk to Cary tonight and see if the health insurance she provides for the family would cover him going to see a shrink.

He needs it.

I know the gang comes here from time to time so let me put in 2 cents about the App.

You have been abundantly clear as to why it is better for YOU and THE SHOW for us to download the App...

But what you should probably do is explain why it is better for US to download the app.

I listen to multiple Nerdist podcasts and I don't even have the Nerdist app. So why should I download yours other than you want me to in order to justify the expense?

Song O The Day:

Raven hair and ruby lips
sparks fly from her finger tips
Echoed voices in the night
she's a restless spirit on an endless flight
wooo hooo witchy woman, see how
high she flies
woo hoo witchy woman she got
the moon in her eye
She held me spellbound in the night
dancing shadows and firelight
crazy laughter in another
room and she drove herself to madness
with a silver spoon
woo hoo witchy woman see how high she flies
woo hoo witchy woman she got the moon in her eye
Well I know you want a lover,
let me tell your brother, she's been sleeping
in the Devil's bed.
And there's some rumors going round
someone's underground
she can rock you in the nighttime
'til your skin turns red
woo hoo witchy woman
see how high she flies
woo hoo witchy woman
she got the moon in her eye

I loved hearing Mike speak of Robb's devotion and friendship over the years on the latest bonus show. He grew up idolizing he and Don. How many people get to say they have worked with their heroes? It would be like me performing alongside Peter North. It got me right in the feels.

It's tough to have to DL a native app to "support" a podcast. There's a reason less than 500 people have downloaded it. Mike doesn't seem to get that you can listen to iTunes directly or indirectly (e.g., Google Music) on your cell.

It's a great tool if you are a bonus subscriber, but otherwise I don't know.

I love the BDK talk. Rob(-b) is so jealous. His laziness and BDK's hard work are evident. I love when they talked about BDK sucking up to stars. Like TMOS did not suck up to Mark O'Meara? Patton Oswald? Chuck Todd? Even the Fla man producer. Suck suck suck...

It was surreal to hear Robb taking shots at BDK's wardrobe and calling his reviews Puff pieces...Robb has a plaid tux he takes to children's plays(just in case) and he licks the peanuts out of Mike's shit on a daily basis...I did enjoy Oscar's obvious digs at Robb...You can really tell he is done

Galling, but not surprising...Remember terrestrial TMOS? He was REALLY trying then....except for the part where he gave Buzz three separate news casts in a single episode everyday, clearly that was punting...But he WAS trying the rest of the time and it was almost completely unlistenable

What a silly look-at-me re-spelling of his name. Robb, indeed.

"Vote for Robb" -- imagining that as a fitting tribute, young Spewak adopts the double "b." Affectation, thy name is Spewak.

(I wonder why when adding the "b," he didn't drop the "w" from his surname. Robb Speak. Couldn't mess with that awesome family tradition, I guess).

Make Up From Sunday, Sorry For The Delay:

Well, on a train, I met a dame,
She rather handsome, we kind looked the same
She was pretty, from New York City
I'm walkin' down that old fair lane,
I'm in heat, I'm in love,
But I just couldn't tell her so
I said, train kept a-rollin' all night long
Train kept a-rollin' all night long
Train kept a-rollin' all night long
Train kept a-rollin' all night long
With a "heave!", and a "ho!"
But I just couldn't tell her so, no, no, no
Well, get along, sweet little woman get along
On your way, get along, sweet little woman get along
On your way,
I'm in heat, I'm in love,

His father was such a wonderful guy--taking off and letting Grandpa and Mom raise young Headd. Of course Headd would name his own child Robert and keep that stellar line of tradition going. Young Robert must be so proud. He's a namesake for an old perv who ditched his wife and kid for 18 years and a fat load who can't control his weight nor hold down a decent job. It's a proud and noble tradition into which young Robert has been cast. Robert III, you have my sympathy.

Girl, you're gettin' that look in your eyes
And it's startin' to worry me
I ain't ready for no family ties
Nobody's gonna hurry me
Just keep it friendly, girl, 'cause
I don't wanna leave
Don't start clingin' to me, girl, 'cause
I can't breathe
Baby, baby, don't get hooked on me
Baby, baby, don't get hooked on me
'Cause I'll just use you then I'll set you free
Baby, baby, don't get hooked on me
Girl, you're a hot-blooded woman-child
And it's warm where you're touchin' me
But I can tell by your tremblin' smile
You're seein' way too much in me
Girl, don't let your life get tangled up with mine
'Cause I'll just leave you
I can't take no clingin' vine
Baby, baby, don't get hooked on me
Baby, baby, don't get hooked on me
'Cause I'll just use you then I'll set you free

They talk as if they are doing the listeners a favor by doing the podcast. Of course they beg money from them at the same time. They are oblivious to the fact that if they stopped now, people will move on. Sure, some might complain for a month or two, but then they will forget.

The app update is several months behind schedule. It was supposed to surreptitiously send an email voting for Julia's Fall Out Boy video submission.

I think the extra download numbers was just a perk. What happened is that Oscar got all psyched about creating an app for the show, because obviously apps are the best! And then, after doing all the work, he found out that nobody uses podcast apps.

So if nobody uses the app, all of the money/man hours/favors etc. will be wasted. Which is a mortal sin in business school.

So they want people just to download the app so that they don't discover it's a huge waste.

Exactitacally. Why would I use an app when I can just download the show, listen to it, and delete it? Or just go to the website and play it. Makes no sense at all.

Time for a poll that TMOS should have done years ago.

I think the absolute worst aspect of the app is the horrible promo Robb cut for it...If you ever wondered why he is unemployable in radio, listen to the utter glee in his voice while he spouts hack line after hack line..."Do you have a smartphone? Sure", "I thought it was an orange"indeed!

He's scared that if he meets a black guy he'll fall down and damage his other knee, Or drunkenly try to touch his Big Black Cock. Because black people are inherently scary when you're a Fat Drunk Baby.

This is what I do as well except I use an app called DoggCatcher. It'll thread any RSS feed and let me download or mark read any episode of any show I subscribe to. Having a dedicated app for just TMOS or Earwolf, Nerdist etc just makes no sense at all.

I use Pocket Casts, cost a couple bucks, but does everything the others do, and it syncs between both phones and my tablet, so I don't have to manually skip when I switch devices.

Since we are on this type of topic, what do you get your sound from? Since I mostly listen to podcasts, I bought a plantronics m70. It supports A2DP through the single earpiece, which is nice because I can hear when others are talking to me without taking out ear buds. I wouldn't recommend it for music, but for podcasts its good.

iTunes and the podcast app and apple über buds

My big problem with this setup is listening to half of a show and not wanting to listen to the rest and having to manually delete it.

Do any of the other apps handle this?

You always have to manually delete them. But we're talking about a long press and select delete. Not exactly a burden or breaking rocks.
