How many pets are too many?

So right now I have a ferret, three cats, and I just made a terrarium for my two bearded dragons. The neighborhood I live in has a lot of stray cats and I was thinking about adopting some more buddies. Is there a cutoff before you turn into a crazy cat lady? My apartment is about 700 square feet so I think I have enough room for all my pets.

Not really. The cats will also figure it out, too. Once you stop changing their litter boxes and cut down on food you're feeding them - they'll start burrowing into your walls to find a place to hide. We actually had a crazy cat lady in my neighborhood a few years back. She had so many cats in her end unit townhouse that the next door neighbors dropped a dime on her because of the smell, and the fact that her back yard was never mowed and critters were living in it. When the county guy visited the house the smell about knocked him off the front step. There were cats inside the walls, shitting behind the drywall and even on the kitchen counters and appliances. They posted the front door and kicked her (and her boyfriend, believe it or not, she had a boyfriend in there with the cats) out of the house. Her parents owned it, and they had to have the house gutted and totally remodeled so they could sell it. The crazy lady was only in her 30s, too.

I have three dogs and a cat, and that's enough in my view. We had four dogs in the house over Christmas, and I can't imagine dealing with anymore. I live in a three level house, and the cat stays in the basement, and all of the dogs are crate trained. I would like to own an entire sled team worth of dogs in the future, but I'll need the property for it. The bottom line is that the space you have delegates how many animals you can live with.
Also, the amount of attention you can give them sets the precedent.

Just wondering. I have one dog. I love her and she's added a ton to our lives, but
they're just like kids in certain ways.

Sally is definitely not gay, although she desperately wants to be... The sad truth is that Sally was born with a condition called heterosexuality... Even before her birth, she was bound by genetics to a life of girl on guy (sometimes on machete) action.
You see, no matter how hard she tried, or how many women she slept with in middle school, she could never... EVER... possibly be gay...
Plus she's my number one girl, so the proof is in the pudding...

I just fed my cat. She likes the Fancy Feast that comes in the pouches. She mostly just licks up the gravy---that's her favorite part; I tell her, "you need to eat the rest of it--don't just eat the gravy", but she won't listen to me. She's sitting in my lap now.

there was one just like this down the street from my place in memphis. one morning i woke up to her in front of my house in hysterics. she told me that one of her cats was missing. she must have had 100 cats; how she knew one of them was missing i dunno but i rounded some kids in the neighborhood up to search for her missing kitty. after searching all day the cat was discovered, smooshed, under some of the junk her backyard.
then one day the city came and took them all away but said cat lady was back up to 50 within three months. then i moved. there goes the neighborhood.
