Hey I was reading this other post about the lady in Annandale who had hoarded 161 cats in a house. If you missed it, here it is http://www.fairfaxunderground.com/forum/read/2/460969.html

I was thinking for the Holiday Season I would sponsor a contest opened only to FU forum visitors. The rules are simple-

1) You must be a county resident

2) You must be registered to this forum

3) Whoever can get the most cats into their home or apartment by 12/31/10 wins!

4) Cats must be ALIVE at the time of the official count.

I am willing to give a $20 prize to the winner.

I think I could win this thing hands down. I only have a 2 BR condo, but I am positive I could beat that 161 that was scored in Annandale recently.

But since I am sponsoring the contest and posting the grand prize, I don't think it would fair for me to participate also.

Looks like a fearless frisker. I had an all white one like that once about the same size. He killed bats, an owl , all sorts of prey. His ears were all notched up from fighting. I miss that cat.

Ever wonder what it would be like to live under the same roof as 161 cats? Probably sounds like a stampeding herd when they all get running together.

There's a lot of good spots in Merrifield that are crawling with strays. Or you could leave out bowls of milk and tuna and get some of the neighbors felines to defect.

Someone could put an ad on Craigslist offering to "sit their cats" while they're away. The cat owners probably wouldn't want to see that you have a warehouse full of kittys that you are keeping to win a contest, but if you present yourself right, you may get lucky and people bringing over 4 or 5 at time, several times a day, especially since folks are travelling over Christmas.And people would probably pay you or at least provide their own food.

Then just as a joke and after you've won the contest, you could set all the cats free in your neighborhood.

Hey this is all great and these are excellent cat pictures you guys are posting of top notch pure bred winners.

But we are looking for QUANTITY, not necessarily quality. I know it would be cool to have 10 ocelots running the house, but the rules are the rules, and 11 mangy, flea btten malnourished tabbies is more than 10 ocelots, panthers, lions or tigers all day long.


6 and 7 toed cats are great, but no extra points for that either.

As for the Craigslist ads, I'd keep trying. There are some really self-righteous assholes there and personally I've boycotted them since they stopped witht he escort ads and started on with the human trafficking hyperbole. Maybe you'd have better luck with the "free to a good home" ads or maybe (and I'm giving away a great idea) you could post an ad specifically looking for cats that are already pregnant. Hell, probably be worth circling the Beltway a few times if you could get a few to go pick up. And with cats short incubation time, you could literally get your first hundred from just by picking up a half dozen or so that are already expecting.

Thats a mighty generous offer of you Radiophile and I am sure there is a cat lover out there who would love to take another onboard. Feral cats are great too, all cats are great.

I'm not sure if some of the other posters are taking this contest as seriously as I am taking with the cash reward I am offering. SO I am going to up the ante a little bit-

I will still give a $20 CASH reward, but that will go to the second place runner up..I will now give a cash prize of FIFTY U.S DOLLARS to any FU poster who can surpass the recent milestone of 161 cats in Annandale.

Same rule, must be in the County, must be a registered poster to claim your reward and (importantly) all cats must be alive at the time of the official count.

Now let's go get some cats!

OK this prize money is here and I will let it rot in my pocket if someone doesn't come claim it.

Easy money, $50 for anyone who surpasses the 161 count recently set in Annandale and $20 to whoever has the most period. To help get the smell out, I will throw in cost of renting a Rug Doctor carpet steamer, but not the Wide Track model, that's $5 more.

I love cats and I know we have some people who love cats too. I won't be around for the deadline tonight at 11:59PM but hopefully we'll have a lot of participants with a lot of cats in the end.
