The story was simply a he said-she said, with neither side backing down under pressure from Judicial Affairs. Charges dropped and an external investigation on the police procedure forthcoming.
Luckily for Abdi, he'll be graduating in May, he is villified and hated by the vast majority of Mason students. Only a vocal minority of cop haters and minorities railed against his arrest. This is an issue that would have had the same ending if he simply followed through with the EVP, and perhaps with the Ombudsman. Maurice Scherrens is not an administrator who pushes complaints aside.
Hopefully Abdi learned his lesson from this. He could have achieved the same results without trashing his reputation and hurting his chances for future employment. Any employer who does a background check of any sort will quickly learn he was charged with abduction, see his previous disorderly conduct conviction; and although innocent until proven guilty, he'll be low guy in the hiring pool.

It's fucking amazing to me how many imbeciles on the Stand Up! for Abdi Facebook page do not understand how posting bail works and are demanding the return of his $2500.
The Court does not keep the fucking money unless you try to flee, Thats the point of Bail, to compel someone not to run before their court date or they forfeit a significant sum. It doesn't even have to be money, you can use just about anything as collateral.

I don't know, because I have my doubts about the girl's account too. I really think that BOTH parties overplayed this thing like crazy, one from a racial/ethnic vantage point, the other from an inconsiderate brat's immaturity. Either way, a trial would've been an interesting thing to watch.

The charges were probably drop on the condition that he keeps his idiot mount shut (as he should have in the library) and if he doesn't they may be reinstated. I doubt he'll be allowed to live on campus again and Grad school at GMU is definitely out of the question. GMU swept this sensational, bad press under the rug, but anyone not affected by religious bias knows he's a dick(and the girl as well).

The charges were a total crock devised well after-the-fact by a couple cops protecting their butts because the charged guy wouldn't just give it a rest after being kicked out of the library.

I don't know if the charges were appropriate or not, I'm inclined to think Abdi was intimidating her because it seems that he stayed in the room after she called the Police, a colossally stupid decision, However, the girl may have lied to the Police.
What I can't understand is how everyone is up in arms over the Police response based on the account of the girl. Why are the charges suddenly suspect because they we're delayed. Why is it unscrupulous that the Police went to the station and researched the Law before pressing charges? That seems like responsible Police work to me, rather than arresting him on the spot before they know how to charge him.

I can't really recall where I said i hated foreigners, I just don't believe this guy acted in a rational, responsible way, neither did the girl. I'm mostly opposed to this attack on the Campus police, who may not be our best and brightest, but they are important for everyones safety. In the case of a theft, no. I would imagine the alleged abduction counts as a violent crime and Police tend to err on the side of caution in those cases.
Police were certain and altercation had taken place as both individuals remained at the scene of the alleged crime.
I suppose the information we are both missing is what happened with the girl after Abdi left. Did she go with the Police to the station for a further interview or meet with University officials? If she did, and in further interviews it was decided that a crime had taken place the time disparity makes a lot of sense. This is what I assume happened.

I don't believe all I've read from George Mason students, on message boards and facebook throughout the week. I've lost a lot of respect for the students at Mason and have come to the conclusion that there are a lot of dumb students at Mason.
This incident was more of a black eye on the student body than the university. Just a bunch of people living in a bubble running their mouthes about things they have no clue on.

There are plenty of spaces on campus to study. If you are a real student one of the first things you do is find those areas. The study rooms are mostly for the last min. crammers or perpetual socializers.
Any serious student with a serious major would focus on the work at hand not a pissing match at such a critical juncture.
btw the students at GMU run the gambit. Some very bright folks with a lot of average, hardworking students. Of course there are some dimwits - its not UVA.

it would take longer that 7 minutes to get from the upper floors of Fenwick to Shenandoah and return. Considering the front entrance of the library, elevator time, the walk down the hallway from one section of the library to the other, we're looking at least 20 minutes, perhaps more.

It's a hundred feet from the library to the dorm. At my normal walking pace, I can cover a hundred feet in about 25 seconds. Two hundred feet (there and back) would take a minute. I doubt he spent 19 minutes riding the elevators.

The other day I was looking for parking at mason. I pulled up in front of an empty spot, and without my turn signal on, stopped and started playing with my iphone. Well 4-5 levels of angry birds later I look up and this bitch has taken my spot. So i do what every other rational person would do... threw a conniption fit, started yelling and screaming that I was dun dirrty, and pulled my car behind hers so she couldnt leave.
Would you believe the nerve of this bitch to then call the police. I mean all she had to do was pick up her shit and leave. I had been looking for a parking spot for hours but Im sure this bitch had just shown up and parked immediately.
I didnt start getting real pissed til the cops showed up and told me that they would not bring out a tow truck and forcibly remove her and her car from the spot that I had (questionably) called dibs on. I mean isnt that my constitutional right?? Isnt that their job?? To settle my minor disputes about parking spots, study rooms, and/or who gets next on the beer pong table.
Well now that you know my story where should I go from here?? Should I suck it up and just go to another building on campus or should I take this to the next level?? For those not in the know, the next level roughly translates to yelling at anyone I see in the same disrespectful manner I was yelling at the police offices until they see things my way.
Would you believe the nerve of this bitch to then call the police. I mean all she had to do was pick up her shit and leave. I had been looking for a parking spot for hours but Im sure this bitch had just shown up and parked immediately.
I didnt start getting real pissed til the cops showed up and told me that they would not bring out a tow truck and forcibly remove her and her car from the spot that I had (questionably) called dibs on. I mean isnt that my constitutional right?? Isnt that their job?? To settle my minor disputes about parking spots, study rooms, and/or who gets next on the beer pong table.
Well now that you know my story where should I go from here?? Should I suck it up and just go to another building on campus or should I take this to the next level?? There is no such thing as a better example... other examples go to school for years hoping and praying they can someday become the PERFECT example like this one.
He got in to a disagreement over some minor bullshit and expected the police to come out and enforce some "student code of courtesy" bullshit. The girl was a bitch, but she was a bitch in the study room. Dude was the dude harassing the bitch in the study room. It isnt the cops job to break down the tape and sweep the room for semen samples to figure out who the room rightfully belongs to. Its the cops job to tell the guy who doesnt have a room to kick rocks. If he then decides to drag the situation along long enough for one of the cops to realize they can catch him on some technicality bullshit... got no one to blame but himself.
