I think they are both in the wrong and could've handled the situation alot better. If she had walked in into and saw stuff there, obviously someone was there. U don't move their stuff and sit down. No, because the girl isn't named. GMU will just want to control the PR "damage" they're getting, so they won't go after the writer either.

Honestly what I see as most likely is the charges eventually get dropped or reduced (which would most likely have happened anyways), the kid gets a semi-apology about the whole situation going too far, the GMU cops get sensitivity training, and the school works out some deal to make up for the guy losing his job and living arrangements.

There's no follow-up to this, so nobody knows if Abdi actually met with the Senior Vice President on Friday. However, by throwing the VP into the middle of her stupid sob story, it could give the school a black eye if they didn't meet.

I seriously doubt the school is going to allow its Senior VP and police force to be painted as unsympathetic to black people. That would just open the flood gates for others to get special treatment by saying everything is racist and/or discriminatory.

There were witnesses. Plus she asked someone to watch his stuff and he was still pissed and he went crazy on her and theaten her life. Shes the victim hes mad because there were two white officers who handle the situation and now hes abricating stuff. Sara Evans will be shocked as well as everyone else by friday.

Maybe because I was busy getting an education there I realized that a state funded school shouldn't be using tax payer money to buy things which are clearly for one religion only moron. The young man wanted justice - now he is in up to his neck with the justice system. What incredibly poor judgment to waist his time going to the cop shop to complain - did he think an apology would get his paper written?

Since there is no known evidence or a witness of/to the abduction (locking the door) this will likely be thrown out. That said what are the obligations of a cop when someone claims to have been held against their will? I really don't know.

The young man is lucky the girl didn't bang her self up a little and claim he sexually assaulted her. Is this young man so spoiled that he doesnt understand life is not fair and in general, men are vulnerable to accusations when alone in a room with women (and kids for that matter).

What did the cops do - they kicked him out of the library for a couple hours. Fair? Maybe yes maybe no. When he baited them they probably considered him kind of a jerk which may have lent credit to the young lady's account. In any event I suspect the cops were within their rights to arrest him. The lawyers will figure that out.

Take home lesson for all you 20somethings is - cops have power, the legal system is something you want to avoid if possible and trying to get cops in trouble with their boss for kicking you out of a library for a couple hours is absolutely not worth it.

Footnote:Police power over us is something that can be and is abused every day. Work the problem and dont do it by making yourself a victim.

This doesn't mean he didn't do shit, I'm certain he was and is a complete asshole, as is the girl, and probably the Police officer. Abduction was certainly a stretch, but It's very likely he was aggressive or he would have let the whole thing slide, as he should have, because neither of them registered for the room or had any right to it and his or her complaints were invalid.

Moving his stuff out was a bitch move, and she probably made xenophobic comments, but that's not a crime, and moving his stuff wasn't against Library policy.

As for the Police, they absolutely should have arrested him if they felt he was a danger based on the girls account, it's not their job to know if she's lying. If they coerced her to make a false statement they should be disciplined, otherwise it's 2011, enough with the hippie, countermovement cop bashing, it's seriously dated.

Guess GMU didnt like the publicity. The young man declined to comment - meaning they told him to shut up if they drop the charges.

This story is full of holes. The ridiculous amount of detail spent in describing the great pains he went to NOT to abduct her is just classic. This is common sense. He certainly should not get his job back, a reasonable person would have complained to the Library staff rather than stand and argue with someone who is clearly inconsiderate.
