The following does not indicate a good chance for SOCO LB rematch in Rd 2 ---say for example 1 thru 8 beat 9 thru 16. In rd 2(1 would play 8) (2 play 7) (3 plays 6) and (4 plays 5) odds are chalk wont happen but if rd 1 chalk occurs then.

1 Centreville 35.8 8 1
2 Westfield 35.5 9 1
3 Lake Braddock 33.3 8 2
4 Battlefield 33.1 9 1
5 South County 32.7 9 1
6 W Springfield 31.4 8 2
7 Hayfield 31.4 7 3
8 Patriot 31.2 8 2
9 Washington Lee 29.8 7 3
10 Yorktown 28.4 6 4
11 Chantilly 28.3 5 5
12 Robinson, J 27.9 6 4
13 Annandale 27.6 6 4
14 Oakton 27 5 5
15 Jackson, S 26.9 5 5
16 Langley 26.8 6 4

If this is the final 16 then LB and SocO would only meet in the 6A North final as they would not be in the same bracket.

Football Fan, Can you perform your handiwork for D5 rankings/ playoffs projections.

Lots of Eastern Loudoun interest, with Tuscarora # 1, Stone Bridge # 3, Broad Run # 4 and Falls Church # 5.

These Loudoun D5 schools are all playing Fairfax big boys beginning next year.

Not sure why they are matching them up again D6 powers like Centreville, Westfields, LB and mediocre D6 schools like South County, Langley, and Oakton.

I'll see what I can pull together in the next couple of hours. I don't know the D5 Schools all that well so the projected winners for Friday night games will be solely based on the win/loss records of the match ups...

Why not? - the best 5A football programs are certainly on par with the better 6A schools. It's the same way in any state. In Pennsylvania the best AAA schools have won a lot of games this year against the best AAAA. It's not strictly school enrollment that determines sports success. It's coaching and the culture in the local area and school. And the Dulles area has some of the best football in the state (Westfield, Stone Bridge, Centreville, Briar Woods, Chantilly, Broad Run).

Culture can not be overstated enough. Culture is what gets kids to come in on "non-mandatory" days.

From the Washington Post this morning:

"Centreville currently holds the top seed, but the defending Virginia 6A state champs need to beat Robinson and either have Westfield lose to Chantilly or have West Potomac, Hayfield, West Potomac and Washington-Lee all win to secure home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Otherwise, the No. 1 spot would likely go to Westfield."

Even though they are playing TC, pretty sure West Potomac only has 1 more win left in them.

My calculations suggest that if one of those four team lose, that Centreville would still leas Westfield 35.67 to 35.5. Hayfield would not be in the mix because they played both Centreville and Westfield. A loss would affect both of them the same.

Would be fine with Westfield 1 and CVille 2 so CVille can beat them on their field in NR championships and show them what an aberration mid season loss at Westfield really was without Turner, Tutt, etc.

The Post does not know what they are talking about. The comment that Hayfield has to win shows how little they know. Football Guy is right, Hayfield offsets. Last week, the way I read the Post's article, basically stated that Westfield has the top seed locked up.

I think West Po and West Springfield have a better than average chance of winning. W/L win will be tough against Yorktown. As for WF, SB and LB should win.

Remember that WS is starting a sophomore QB and they have no backup tonight- the other, better sophomore QB, is still hurt. If Woodson knocks tonights starter around then they might be able to keep it close. "Better then average" sounds right.

Actually, wins by common opponents of Centreville and Westfield benefits Centreville because those rider points are only divided by 9 instead of 10.

Tutt played in the first half and played one or two plays in the second as a decoy. When he played, they were up 14-7, when he didn't, they could not stop the pass and gave up 21 in the second half, then two more TD's in OT. He was the difference.

53-0. This is not your Chantilly team of a few years ago. Westfield's defense totally shut them down. I think Chantilly's offense only got into Westfield territory one time and that was after a Westfield fumble. Chantilly hung in there the first quarter and a half. But they let up two TD's and a FG in the last few minutes of the half and it just didn't stop after that. Westfield put in their JV team mid-3rd qrtr and they kept scoring as well.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Tutt played more than just a few plays in the second half but who cares. Westfield had a few players injured playing as well, it's football, good teams figure out a way to compete and win.

Yes having AJ Turner back will be a big boost but Centreville is not the machine it was last year. What should be more of a concern for Centreville is their stud LB Love apparently is on crutches. He is a tremendous player and terrific kid, if he can't play they will certainly miss him.

On the other side, Westfield's offense is pretty dynamic itself, Gray, Bethea in the backfield, now add Pearson back in the mix, he was in uniform last night. Scoville is a different QB than he was last year or before the Centreville game this year, plus he has 3 receivers all over 6'3 to throw the ball to.

It would be safe to say both Centreville and Westfield are pretty balanced and either team capable of winning the 6A North title. But there are 14 other teams in the tournament and anything can happen, records mean absolutely nothing going forward.

Should be some great football over the next month!

AJ Turner is finally back, 5 carries, 170 yards, 4 TDs. nuff said.

You obviously don't know anything about football. Take out the qb and it's a game? WS defense and RB or really good and are the reason they are 8-2. However the injured qb has promise and will be good but the other kid has started the last 4 or 5 games and looks talented

Looks like LBvWS rematch in the second round.

Everyone is banged up this time of year. The best football team at all 3 phases will win the region.

LB is hot right now with big wins over WF, SB and SC. With losses to a good Robinson team at the time and a surprising WS team. Their qb is playing well and anything could happen.

We'll see

Let's be real for a second if aj turner is back and ready to go Cville is hands down the favorite. That kid is ridiculous. He's good enough to take you to states on an average team let alone a team that is stacked. Remember he was only a junior last year and he's been conditioning this entire time. He'll be fun to watch unless of course your team is playing him

5 for 170 and 4 touches in his first game back after being out for this long?

Ranking after Week 11:

1. Centreville
2. Westfield
3. Lake Braddock
4. South County

That's my prediction for the final 4. We get a Centreville-SoCo and a Westfield-LB playoff rematch.

In my opinion, Centreville a heavy favorite over any team they play.

Yep Love injured his MCL last week against Chantilly and apparently is out 4 weeks, which in theory would mean he could be back for the Northern Region title game (against presumably Westfield).

Yes CVHS a totally different team with AJ on offense...but he is almost as valuable on defense. Those TD passes by Scoville may not be so plentiful with AJ in the secondary.

You're correct, Turner is just as valuable on D, but he can't cover all three 6'3 plus receivers Scoville's been spreading the ball around to since both teams first meeting. You also now have a dynamic return man and back/receiver in Pearson who was just reinstated.

Look, Centreville should be the hands down favorite to win the North, no argument there. I just believe that a rematch with Westfield will not be a walk in the park like it was last year.

Westfield's offense is so much more balanced this year compared to last and the O-line is pretty damn good. The defense is solid too, they've done a far better job against the pass over the past 4 games. Both their kickers are ridiculous and now you have a return guy capable of taking it all the way.

Centreville should and will be favored to win every game from here on out. But as we've seen this year anything can happen. I just hope we get to see a rematch, few other pretty good teams that are in the mix as well!!

Best chance at first round upset????

Yorktown > Patriot This game is a toss-up in my mind
Oakton > Lake Braddock Not at all likely but who knows Oakton might be able to come up with a defense effort good enough. Course they might not score.
Robinson > SoCo This would be the longest of long shots. But Robinson did play some good teams tough early.

Turner is pretty good for Centreville, but let's get real. Westfield has played over there head all year. They have a half decent student section (girls are louder than the boys), but It's gonna be Battlefield in the finals against Centreville. Should be a good one.

BattlefieldBobcat,

It would be " Westfield has played over their head all year" not "there". If you've seen them play they're pretty much the same team as last year, just more explosive on offense. There might be some new starters in the lineup but they do what they've done since opening 14 years ago, reload.

Good luck getting by Centreville, if you make it that far. I'm pretty sure you should worry about your teams chances in the first round before thinking about playing in any championship.

If the definition of a dark horse is a team that emerges to prominence, or a team that seems unlikely to succeed; then Soco would be a DH because they played a weak schedule and are unlikely to rise to the top as they could not even beat lake braddock.

Robinson going down in the first round. Does anyone pay attention during the season. Their banged up and lost 4 straight. I think their qb is back but it doesn't look good

Centreville, followed by WF, then LB SC and WS are grouped together.

West Springfield. Special mention goes out to how bad TC were after they made the playoffs as a single digit seed last year.

Soco/Lake Braddock will be the dark horses, as well as battlefield/patriot.

Robinson hit a tough patch, entire backfield out. Great team, tough luck and timing.

Cville is healthy and nobody will stop their offense in the postseason.

If Oakton can stop Edwards, they will be able to score on the LB defense (upset alert)

Championship will belong to Oscar Smith or Concorde (westfield, cville)

Robinsons backfield is not out, QB yes. LB guaranteed win! Ocean Lakes is better than Oscar Smith this year. Oakton's O can barely score when running vs air. Centreville's offense is great but their defense looks a little vunerable without Love and Turner who is only playing offenseat the present. They did not look impressive like last year.

Robinson's backfield is as follows:

QB: Jack Rowlett (missed Westfield, Oakton, Chantilly, Cville)
FB: Sean Foncha (missed Oakton, Chantilly, Cville)
HB: Roman Lowry (missed 1/2 of Oakton, Chantilly, Cville)
HB: Marcus Denham ----healthy

1 QB out, 1 FB out, 1 HB out

Denham is the only one that has remained healthy.

Top two rushers (Denham and Lowry) were there vs Oakton and got shutout, that's a real fact. And actually it was 1 QB and 1 FB out, all HB's there vs Oakton. That's another real fact.

Who do you think should be looking into this?
You parents complained and demanded a whole new staff.
When your AD and the chosen parents interviewed Henderson they knew his reputation and knew exactly who you were getting. Beats me why you'd hire a head coach that was allegedly fired (cough, cough, look it up on the Internet) from another county school.
Obviously some of you miss morals, integrity, honesty and Coach Hill.
