It was the last Memco built in NOVA . It looks like the Reston one by the hill to the right Memcos also had gas stations and supermarkets inside like todays Target's and Wal Mart's They had a nice sport8ing goods section too with real guns TVs the works , you could get almost anything from Memco plus auto parts and "Charley The Watch Maker" in The Fairfax Memco in his little glass shelved work both Not to be mistaken with "Tommy The Matchmaker" at that Snobbish Liberal Lizard Lounge Bethesda Yatch Club who threw me out because I looked like a Hillbilly with a greasy food stain on my shirt

I think the Fairfax Memco was a "Bradleys" for a while.

"Desert Boots"? Grew up in West Texas and I don't remember that term.

Levis T Shirts and Desert Boots were the cool Southern California long haired young mens uniform of the late 60's and 70s on minus the Desert boots they still are

The Cash & Carry at Rt.50 and Centreville Road used to sell rolling papers, pipes and such back at that time as well. I guess they flew under the radar because they were still doing it into the 90's when I left the area for a bit. They were also fairly cool about selling us Mad Dog and Boones Farm without checking our ID's!!

When that part of Fairfax was about 15 minutes from the Beltway at 2 am but never when it was 7 minutes away . 6 of those minutes were for lights at Tysons

I don't recall that most Hot Shoppes featured Art Deco details with as much prominence as this one does. Were there other Hot Shoppes that looked like this one?

Its pure liberal Democrat anti gun anti 2nd amendment anti constitution anti rule of law propaganda , it sums up nothing as the founders allowed cannon that could kill 50 people in one minute and that's not a Democrat fairy tale its a fact , smooth bore cannon have never been regulated by the federal govt or Virginia, pioneers towed them across America to defend settlements , people have them in their yards , the founders wrote the 2nd to protect the American people , just as they wrote how to amend and ratify the constitution , that's not a fairy tale either , its been the law of the land since the last of the 10 original amendments were ratified by the last state Virginia on Dec 15 1791.

That amendment was the 2nd amendment , the only amendment in the constitution with the strongest words of all to not disturb the right it conveys "Shall Not Be Infringed"

I was in school that day.8th grade. I lived in Alexandria, on Duke Street.Took the bus from Hammond Jr high school. It was very snowy. My boyfriend had to give me a piggy back from our bus stop to get me home.I heard it on the evening news that night. It was horrible watching the coverage of the people in the water and trying to save them.

I seem to have accidently gotten a very large black rubber fist stuck up my ass. Does anybody have any recommendations how I might go about removing it?

These things happen from time to time. This condition is easily corrected. Put on a short skirt and pumps, Head to Dupont Circle. Stand on street corner with a sign draped around your neck that says Curb Service on the front and Help Wanted on the back. Occasionally sashaying through the crosswalks. It may take awhile.

Loving that postcard of Holly Hill. I actually stayed there in 1979 with my girlfriend when I was a senior in HS. We were there to do homework of course.
