It's a bit rough over behind the Kohls, but "rough" is relative. It's still very tame compared to Rt 1 in Alexndria, parts of Herndon, etc. What does that video have to do with Burke?

I've made my own a few times but I'm lazy and would rather just buy them :) Meat from the butcher behind Ruby Tuesdays in Centreville can be sliced thin and I throw it in a skillet over some sliced onions and banana peppers. Once it's all cooked up I layer on some provolone and dump it all on a roll with some banana pepper juice. MMmmmm! This combo reminds me of my favorite PA steaks made by a p

If you can handle a little bit of a drive, Blue Ridge Seafood out Rt 29 towards Gainsville is excellent - MUCH better than Cpt Pells. Everything they make is delicious except their deserts. Good clam chowder, shrimp, fish, crabs, etc.

Thanks for the advice! I'll check out some of those place - I've had food at Marios and Anthonys many times but never their steaks. Subs at the Italian Deli are ehhh, so I'm not surprised their steaks aren't that great. Thanks!

I switched from ATT to Verizon back in 2004 when the coverage in the Burke/Fairfax City area was a bit spotty. I was very happy with the change to Verizon and had more reliable coverage and less dropped calls. Last year I switched back to ATT because I bought an iPhone and joined my boyfriend's plan. He had T-Mobile prior to the iPhone and HATES the spotty ATT coverage in Centreville and along

After growing up in Fairfax I moved to PA for about 2 years and loved the steaks up there. Now that I'm back, I have yet to find a decent cheesesteak. Anyone know of a good place to pick one up? The kind with meat cooked on a grill and not microwaved with wax paper would do nicely.

Heh - yes he was from NoVa. His mom taught English at Fairfax High for years and looked just like him. He showed up for "battle of the bands" competitions a few times once his band Alice in Chains got popular back in the early 90s.

Ehh? what does that have to do with global warming? That's what the birds are doing. It's not a guess, that's what birds do. "Thermals are one of the many sources of lift used by soaring birds and gliders to soar." http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=thermal

They are just in a thermal. Birds just catch the warm air going up and go along for the ride. The air rises in columns and they "circle" just to stay in the updraft and not have to flap around and waste energy. They can go up pretty high - nice summer heat makes that pavement sizzle and lots of warm air to ride.

You don't know what his offense was - he could have been an 18 year old senior in high school who was dating a junior and taken to court by her parents for "rape." Your kids are much more likely to be molested by someone in their own family than a stranger. It's Uncle Pervert you need to watch out for - not some guy who struggles by working at a pizza place. That sex offender registry is the bi

There is no renewal bill - I've never subscribed or paid anything :) Supposedly it's a "sample" to drum up more subscribers.

I can't seem to get the actual Washington Post paper from being delivered. I have no problem with the paper itself - but I'm not a subscriber and have never been and I'm sick of dealing with soggy newspapers on my doorstep once or twice a week. I'd called several times and no luck.

Drive down 81 to Virginia Safari Park, spend a day feeding weird animals and a slow drive through. Then, check out Natural Bridge, a cavern or two, and FoamHenge (a lifesize recreation of stonehenge). There are some other kitchy and fun for kids things down right in that area. On the way back, stop by Luray Zoo and caverns for some more fun or go for a hike at Shenandoah's Skyline Drive. They hav

I've tried that, and lately it just hangs up on me and tells me to try again. I can handle pressing buttons, but that voice crap sends me over the edge. I know there is a direct number - it's the one the Billing people use to transfer calls, for example.

Anyone have a phone number for Cox that you can dial to reach a live person and go straight to the agent banks without that infuriating speaking menu? I'm going to have a stroke calling Cox one of these days. Makes me irrationally crazy.

I've had some really good experiences from Craigslist and met some really good people. You just have to know how to weed out the dumbasses that type in all caps and have nothing of substance to say. If a guy emailed me pics of himself naked, shirtless, or in front of his car that was an automatic 'delete.' I put some time and effort into the message I placed, and if I got one sentence in return '

I've both bought and sold tickets through Craigslist and had no troubles. You can usually weed out a lot of garbage just by reading their response or ad.

Winter also comes again in December 2010 :) There is still a few weeks of good skiing left on the East Coast. Hadn't seen the Ski Expo at all this year and was hoping it was just a brief pause. Surfing? Pshaw! Summer is hang gliding season.

I've been searching for good Thai delivery in the Burke area. Are there any websites that list delivery places by area? Sites like allmenu.com and yelp and urbanspoon are a bit too broad and always include places all over the area and not specific towns. I'd love a local website that lists places simply. Anyone in Burke know of some good delivery places?

There used to be a bar over in Springfield that did it there near Commerce Street and Backlick Rd. Not sure if it's still there, though.

There is Unique Thrift there by 50/Gallows. They have a large dropoff area that people leave piles of stuff at. If you have nice stuff, Upscale Resale on 29/Gallows accepts furniture.

Now that it's been a while since I've seen the Ski and Snow Expo at Dulles - anyone know if it is still happening or will be back in the area? They had GREAT deals on lift tickets to places in WV and MD. Any tips on where to score those $10 lift tickets if not at the Expo?

The CD Cellar as mentioned above is a pretty good place for records or at least used to be. I think this place used to be called Blue Note or something and it shared the building with a coffee shop called Caffiene. 709B West Broad Street Falls Church, VA 22046 (703) 534-6318 It's still there...

Yes, they did tell me that and I had a compliment for them - not bitching and nothing is wrong with me. What was tricky about it all was they sent me a letter saying my contract was over for my *phone* and I could get a new one since my 2 years was at an end. You buy a phone and plan at the same time and then your phone is out of contract but your service isn't. The tricky part was I could sign a
