If you feel they School Board doesn't listen, then put your name forward and run - make your issues known in a public forum. If there is waste and abuse, it should be addressed. If teachers salaries are too low, that also needs to be addressed. The examples you're citing don't amou

Dudes, you gotta be kidding me. Is it the goal of FCPS to ensure that no flakes touch the snow boots of my dear children? This is nuts. Okay, YES, it was snowing energetically this morning. YES, our community streets had two inches of snow on them. Is it really possible that our buses and children can not negotiate these mighty impediments? Is it really necessary to deny the kids of another

Because it's funny. So yesterday afternoon, I surveyed my community street, then drove to the bank to get some dough. All streets are either >completely devoid< of snow, or have a rare spotty patch of snow. I think of Jimmy Fallon joking that schools were closed for four inches, when Boston is dealing with eight feet of snow. He's right - it's bad enough that we close schools at the f

I Wovel. I considered purchasing a snow blower until I was given a "wheeled shovel" called a Wovel. The good thing about the design is that you don't use your back to shovel - you use your arms (pushing down) and legs. So I can clear three times the snow per shovel with 1/3 the effort. It folds flat when not in use. So while you're trying to get your expensive snow blower filled with smelly

Many TurboTax purchasers were surprised this year to discover that Intuit has decided to deliberately disable critical features in TurboTax Deluxe. No Schedules C, D, or E. In the past, the product was functional, even though the "Premier" version provided more help and guidance. That was extra functionality and if you needed it you could buy it. But in Deluxe you got the forms, the basic help in

What criteria do you think the school system should use to decide: 2-Hour Delayed Opening? School Closure for the Day? I would suggest the following: 2-Hour Delay: 1-3 inches of snow/sleet, temperatures below zero. School Closure: Freezing Rain resulting in ice on Secondary Roads, or snow greater than 3-inches. Other than that, schools should be open IMHO. Hopefully, the intelligent respon
