Does anyone know how much Lon Solomon gets paid by MBC? Is this information published?

I have heard rumors about his salary but nothing that is confirmed.

I don't know for sure but he is underpaid given that he is THE draw for most members of the congregation for MBC.

Based on the amount of money that is contributed by members, he should be paid at least $1 million annually. I don't think he makes that much.

MY GOODNESS!

I hope the saints didn't waste too much time entertaining demonized mockers. "Pope says" blah blah "evolution" blah "valid hypothesis". Important key word that defeated the very same argument it was intended to support, being: HypoTHESIS. I see some of you kept your temper longer than others while dealing with these trollish, juvenile, miscreants. However it is hard to blame them and we must forgive them- Prayer and corporal punishment was removed from their schools, and Creationism was not given fair consideration in their classrooms, (and they think that just because man in science proves HOW God works, man disproves God's work). Entertainment media (Television, Movies, Music, Books) manufactured and produced by luciferian occultists has been working with their institutions of education and our government, on conditioning, indoctrinating, manipulating, and numbing, their high-fructose/carb/MSG brains since an early age- the T.V. was most likely their first best friend and/or nanny- because daddy wasn't arround, or mom was too ambitious, and by the time they made it home from work, they were too exhausted from making ends meet, to REALLY pay attention, or show the child the love it needed/deserved/craved. They were like lambs handed to the wolves for slaughter. Placed on the sacrificial alter of ambivalence, and oblivious self absorbent, one-handed, smart-phone, social networking, selfie, new aged, narcissistic, necromantic, Neo totalitarian-cheerleading, God of my own fake artificial, photoshop, existence lifestyle. They don't even understand Big Brother. We can not blame the lost generation, that suffers for the sins of their fathers, and their fathers before them (to the forth generation).

That being said... (Apologies for the rant, and nice fishing weight lead reference, although I doubt most of the x-box 360 generation understood what you meant)... I happened upon this lovely "debate," (more like an ingloriously willful display of youthful ignorance, attempting to bully the saints of Christ, [who in my opinion, could have shared a bit more scripture..to back up their relevant points).. I digress.. I happened upon this site because I had a vision and my husband did as well.. Upon researching things from our vision we came across Lon Solomon, but very little information about him- Like his full name, for example. :)

I was wondering if anyone could provide that information, because I feel the Holy Spirit "telling me" (guiding rather) that "Lon" is short for something, or a middle name, and that Lon Solomon has a first name that is in the Bible. Either one he was given as a child or one his family uses) Can someone please help?

Love, Blessings, & Peace,
A disciple & sister in Christ, All the way from Texas,
Rebeckah.

I was with us until RIIIIIGHT about here. I was brought up in the FUMC, kicked out of my confirmation class for having differing views than tge pastor (ya know.. 3rd graders not being mature enough to get baptized-they may love Jesus and ask Him into their heart, but chances are they don't realize the Gravity of the symbolism/ceremony; that they are devoting their lives to living for CHRIST, and just want to do it because their friends are.. And why are we sprinkling and not dunking here.. Ya know, that sort of thing.

I was real involved with youth group up until the end of eighth grade when unbeknownst to me (Til many years later), my mother was asked to not bring me back. I suppose bringing boys to church that draw on their eyebrows with black eyeliner, and had cigarettes (that STAYED) in their shirt pockets), girls that were known for having reputations,(ya know- the kids that need Jesus the most) and being too honest with struggles, trials & temptations at prayer circle was too much for the FUMC.

So unless, this church was one in a million and some how not truly a UNITED Methodist Church, I think your statement there is ALSO judgement, based on facts, I am led to assume you don't have, since my years of experience in the Methodist church left me scarred, feeling QUITE judged, and not FEELing GOOD at all. In fact it was several years before I ever stepped foot in another church again.

Sorry.. I just had to say something. I am a BIBLICIST, and not a fan of doctrinal division, but you can't cast judgement on every church based on the denomination; The first church I felt the Spirit Move in after years of Apostasy, was non-denominational, but I was VERY shocked to find the pastor was formerly a BAPTIST minister! I might never have given the place a chance if I had known that, so you really can't judge..Unless of course, it's the Catholic Church. That is an entirely different BEAST all together.

Blessings in CHRIST.

I attended MBC for about two or three months.

Without a doubt, Lon is a magnetic speaker. He's interesting, opinionated, and a bit of a showman. It's very obvious that his sermons and the services are very scripted and rehearsed. It's smooth and impressive.

My take away was that it is church for conservative Republicans. If you hate social programs and welfare, don't like gays, and don't think you should have to look after poor people, than it's the perfect church for you. Lon is never going to ask you to get out of your comfort zone, except for giving lots of money. The stories about members of the congregation being asked to contribute large amounts of money are legion and well-documented.

I will not deny for a moment that it's impressive. But it's just not for me.

So many lies. MBC spends millions every year to help the poor, feed the hungry, cloth them, educate them. They have a program where anyone with a child with special needs can drop them off for a day or two where they will be watched over and loved and the other family members can get a break. They just donated two mobile medical units to the refugees in Iraq. They have adopted several disadvantaged schools in the local area, where they offer tutoring, food and clothing. They offer a day program to disabled young adults that provides job training and gives them something to do every day of the work week. They have two outreach facilities located in the poorest sections of DC where they offer a place for inner-city kids to come and learn and be safe after school (while getting a hot meal). This just scratches the surface of what MBC offers the local and global community.

No one is hit up for money (other than taking the offering in every service - key word being "offering"). Just another one of your lies.

You are correct that liberal progressives might find the messages uncomfortable sometimes. But then, so do conservatives sometimes as well. But the Bible says what It says and Solomon teaches the Bible.

The real question is why did you feel the need to lie? Interesting.....

If I say something is my take away, my opinion, how can it be a lie? I went for two or three months, didn't like it, and gave my opinion about what I saw.

So you listed a bunch of things the church is doing. Are members of the congregation encouraged to get out and mix with the unwashed masses? They have outreach facilities. It sounds like they donate money, but like I said, in the time I was there I never heard him say, "Hey, don't just write a check, get out there and donate your time. You need to get in there and get your hands dirty."

I remember one sermon he gave about gay people, and how they were welcome there at McLean Bible. He talked about how they had some outreach / retraining / pray the gay away program in a room in one of the buildings. How interesting, I thought, they're welcome but just not here in this room with all the rest of us.

Lon Solomon is an interesting fellow. By his own admission he lived quite the sorted life right up until it was time to find a job. Since then he's done very nicely for himself. Hmmmm.

I found it a bit odd how many members of the congregation seemed to view him as some sort of demi-god. I heard several people talk about how they could be more like Lon and maybe their kids could grow up and be like Lon. At times it seemed like a cult of personality.

The problem with threads like this is that it presupposes a) there is a God and b) the Bible is his actual word. Those are two pretty big assumptions to make despite how uncomfortable the consequence of either or both being false makes you feel. So, if you want to argue about the true meaning of the Bible you might as well argue about minutiae of Harry Potter or some other work of fiction.

The bible is a translation of a translation of a translation of a translation of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy, etc. So let's all take it literally. The world would be so much better off without religion.

I'll do you one better.... Instead of reading that translation of a translation of a copy of a copy and then thinking for ourselves about what it says, let's let some pastor guy do our thinking for us and tell us what it means..... Because we sure as hell can't actually READ it.

Not sure why nobody has said this yet, but this NEVER HAPPENED. Absolute 100% untrue. You are welcome to attend or not attend MBC, but why, Karen, did you decide to post a bold faced lie that could be disproven by 10,000 people?

"They actually asked the congregation to write down names of people who can be saved and those people who were going to hell and could not be saved."

I've been going there for 17 years. You went for 2 months. Your "opinions" are not based on reality. He preaches the Bible, nothing more, nothing less.

You are the one who seems obsessed with Solomon. I find it a bit odd that you went there for 2 months and yet talked with all these people who wanted their kids to grow up to be like Lon when I've never heard anyone say that. He gets a lot of grief, just as most pastors do.

And I've heard maybe 2 or 3 sermons on gays in 17 years. Yet you heard something I've never heard (separate rooms for gays) in what, the maybe 10 services you attended?

Lies disguised as opinion are still lies. Sorry, your agenda is showing.

So I was saying that the people at McLean seem to think that Lon is some demi-god and there's this cult of personality and then a member of the congregation shows up and tells me how dare I question Lon, that Lon is an amazing person, that all those who question Lon will be brought to judgment, that I must have an agenda, and so forth.

Man, you people truly are wacky. Are you there for the the religion or for Lon? Wait--really, you've already sort of answered that.

You see what you want to see to fit your agenda. Lon's a good preacher. Nothing more. He's not an amazing person. You lie to yourself but everyone else can see right through you and the lies you spin. You can't even comprehend simple sentences without filtering their obvious meaning through the false narrative you've tried to sell here. Sorry, you=fail.

I choose the path of Christianity, however over time through my life, I have shied away from organized religion. The reason is that there are so many different religions, and nearly all say they are the "only route into heaven". Muslims believe that, Jews, Catholics, everyone says you must follow THEIR path and no other. Yet if you study religion, there is MUCH commonality between them all. Despite what the passages say in each religion about being "the only way", I would focus on the common threads that are universal throughout all - and there are many. I choose Christianity, however if I were to attend a structured church, it would probably be Unitarian.

Step back and consider. Throughout ALL societies, from the Native American, Slovak, African, Chinese, whatever. ALL recognize the existence of a higher power that some choose to call "God". Is it reasonable to think that God would have only sent ONE messenger to this planet? Personally, I'm inclined to think he sent many, with a common message of acceptance towards one another, and love towards one another as a foundation. That just seems to make common sense. If I were to tell a devout Muslim that they were "going to hell", or a Hassidic Jew, that would seem to run counter to the Christian ideals I feel are foundational.

If you need a structured, church environment to reinforce your faith, you might check out the Unitarian Church for starters. You may find that meets your expectations.

they loved a sermon that didn't approach the subject of spending or morals in McLean

they were pure when on church grounds, but were sure to insist on feudal behaviors before and after steppign on them

they cared not where their donation went even were it for funding new birth in terristic countries

really was it lovable? i'm so sure.

It is hard to imagine where Christ would approve the act of abortion. The act itself is always selfish, as it involves killing an unborn child because of individual circumstances. Life is sacred. As a gay male, I seek God myself.

Religion is a collection of myths and fabrications. There is no God, there never was a Jesus Christ, and there is no soul, salvation, eternal life, heaven, hell, rapture...Religion is corrosive and malignant. Being religious is a sign of mental illness.

The pope is not a follower of the Messiah of Nazareth the christians call Jesus. The pope is the enforced "head" of the roman catholic religion.

They have sold religion as christianity for several hundreds of years, and never told people that Jesus is NOT about a religion.

If you are on a religion you are completely off Jesus. To be of His Salvation is to have a personal relationship (talking, hearing, sharing) relationship with The Lord. If you don't have that relationship you have nothing of Jesus.

You may have a religion like hinduism or buddhism...only difference is that you claim to know the True Lord Jesus...

In the last days, the Word of the Lord says, people will heap to themselves teachers who will tickle their ears...That also means that they will not want to hear Truth but will want to hear the lie preached to them, so that they will not be convicted of sin...

I find Lon solomon's church an abomination as they don't preach all of the Word and lead people to live Holy and be taught of the Lord only - Matthew 23:8-10.

If you think his preaching is hard, you should forget about knowing Jesus. The Lord said, He came to bring a sword... He also said that the Kingdom of the Lord suffers violence and we guard the Kingdom by force!

We are told our enemies are spirits of wickedness in high places not flesh and blood and we are to know how to defeat those enemies...you cannot be a chicken and be in the Lord and change His Lordship ...so that you can go to a "church" where they don't condemn perverse sexuality and murder as against the Will of Father...

You have another family - read John 8:44. It is NOT the Family of the Jesus...

Listen to his sermon today. It is about the wickedness in the Church and in Christians as being the reason this country is going down. Very biting and very reflective. He indicts himself for his own sin as well as all who call themselves 'Christian' yet grow comfortable with their sin.

Your post is false.

Given that Lon is making a rumored $1 million annually including benefits, is it any wonder that he does not want to disclose his salary?

Lon is a Jewish Believer in Jesus, yet he refuses to answer questions about the Sabbath. Lord Bless him though.

Ahh, the beauty of Fairfax Underground. Every once in a while you come across a post like Jim911's above where we must guess as whether the post is satire.

Lon and MBC are clearly not my cup of tea. To a critical thinker, his sermons are really unpersuasive, chock full of questionable deductions which follow on to a very predictable conclusion. I actually envy people who can digest simplistic material and be happy.

This having been said, the church does very nice things - whether it is Jill House - or other charitable works. So I am loath to judge the church too harshly - if it truly makes people happy, then well, good for those who like it.

Hate to break it to ya, but no one cares what you think.

Lon knows the deal on the Sabbath, but he avoids talking about the 4th of the 10 commandments, because he knows the church has been doing it wrong for hundreds of years.
The Romans were Sun worshippers among other things. They effectively disallowed anyone to "worship" on another day, even after Constantine assumed his position as "Head of the Church". Death was the sentence for those who deviated from this.
The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath ... but if one reads the Bible without Bias, it is clear that the Sabbath is on the 7th Day. Lon as a Jew knows this, year continues on with Sunday .. Maybe he thinks he has too much to lose?

"They met on the first day of the weeK'
"Early on the first day of the week" ... they saw Jesus.
Is this how man justifies changing the Sabbath Day to Sunday?
