I just took a bullet for the team, folks. I listened to the second ep of Cake and Cookies.

More discussion of Elvis and Robb hosting his daughter's talent show.

Then Robb demonstrates for Katie how he uses his nettie pot. Katie gets so grossed out she starts dry heaving. Now that's entertainment.

Cary and Dan (Katie's husband) were invited to watch them do the show. They didn't participate though.

I can only imagine what Cary must've been thinking. THIS is your "job?" This is what you do while I'm at work?

Good luck getting treated for the PTSD. What a shitshow that is.

Neither of those two have an interesting thought in their head. Robbbbbb is stuck back in the 1950s and Katie just is not entertaining. I can't relate to either of them.

If you're going to do a podcast, at least have a reason for doing it. Don't do a podcast because you want to act like a grown up who talks on the radio.

Props to Lady Baltimore. I already listen to two borderline tolerable podcasts (TMOS and MabeL) and refuse to invest the time. Though I am intrigued by the unintentional funny factor, I learned my lesson from Robb's other solo project.

This: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Van_Dyke_beard

Robb and Mike have repeatedly misused this term to describe other beard styles in the past.

Also, Robb's beard is awful. He needs to lower the bottom line of the beard on the back of his jaw, near his ear. Look at a side pic of Robb. The corner of his beard is like 2 inches higher than his chin.

Thanks for listening.

Wasn't the talent show 2 weeks ago? Timely.

The spouses were probably there per Katie's request. Alone in the basement with Spewak? No thanks.

I don't think it's called a job if one isn't getting paid.

Why would you talk about your dogs shitting around the house before putting it on the market?

O'Meara again talks about being a shitty dog owner. Of course he thinks he's doing a perfect job and it's all the dumb dog's fault.

As much as the reading facebook messages, then calling people to give them a prize sucks, I do enjoy it when LFF gets butthurt that no one answers. Because who doesn't have time to answer a phone call from some random or caller ID blocked number between the hours of 10 and noon?

Exactly. He doesn't understand that every dog is an exact reflection of its owners behavior. There is some minor deviation for each breed, nothing an attentive owner could overcome. Mike seems to think that petting the dog and watching it shit constitutes effort.

For those few seconds. Yes. Then Rob starts his O'Meara ass kissing defending Mike.

And this is after Mike tries to trap Rob into saying that Rob doesn't take care of his own dog and that it's his kids are doing all the work. Again, Rob shows how pathetic he really is.

There is a funny dude who calls himself 'Gus Mueller' who is a ball busting master. Today he writes, "Well you're on track to put in your second 5 day week of 2014. Don't get overserved and mess it up! Oh, who am I kidding". I startes to scroll back and he has made some major league critical comments the last couple months. Check out what he has to say on Jan 3,8,15,24,28,30, and Feb 5, and today. His comments have been up for weeks including the entire TMOS Stats response from Mike. Check it out..

Depending on what your objective is, many people aren't thinking strategically. As a one-off troll, you were pretty strong, jhopkins. On the other hand, there were at least two similar critical posts in the last several days which are still up and received a lot of attention. Your whole list from the start of that convo could still have been up if that guy hadn't pissed you off.

There's a lot of value in being a respectable voice of reason over time. Trip Affleck has made observations at least as critical as your list, but he's a trusted member of the community and people know he's "on their side." That one guy was trying to engage with you and ran with I guess the "safest" of your observations, about the lack of cross-promotion.

If there's any desire to actually change the show, it'll take a weight of fan consensus. I posted a chart a while ago showing how Mike was destroying the downloads with guns and politics until Oscar made him stop, at least for the most part because despite Oscar's bad press sometimes, he's actually the sharpest of all of them by a wide margin. They're (the fan community) already far more tolerant of constructive criticism than they used to be, because the anti-speech guys like the one who pissed you off get called out by guys like the one who was talking to you.

How did they lie about the reasons?

When they first announced the live show wouldn't be taped, Mike said it was to create a sense of "exclusivity" for those in attendance. Clearly he thought that would drive up ticket sales to the point where it would make up for the DVD production costs (although most VIP members would have been fine with a link to a video they could stream from their accounts).

There was huge blowback from fans, including Trip, saying this was bullshit and a screw you to you loyal fans who couldn't make the live show for reasons of scheduling or geography. When it got particularly bad, Oscar came out and said the decision was purely financial and technical, as it would have been too expensive to produce. He completely brushed over Mike's earlier reasoning, and from then on the show used Oscar's line.

The truth is Mike doesn't understand the first thing about business or community and Oscar had to clean up after him.

There was someone in the (sparse) audience sreaming it from their phone that night. I tried to look in but the first thing I saw was robbb laughing his head off under a large projected image of a klansman. I couldn't stomach much of that.

I do like the new Kid-voice and Cackle podcast though.

If I'm Mike, I'm engaging with that TMOS fan page group, even if just occasionally. It would rock their world to hear from The Man, and is good strategic marketing.

As such, I will assume that this doesn't happen.

don't you know Mike's philosophy of "Leave them wanting more".... Besides that would cut into his hours of prep he does daily. He won't gain much from them because they are pretty much doing everything for Mike as it is, if he wants to market better he needs to promote outside of these little circles..... This would come with a lot of work too, because the show would have to improve a lot to make any gains in listeners.

I think Mike is smart to leave those freaks alone. They are already addicted to the show and they aren't going anywhere.

Not worth engaging with potential Carl Grossmans, especially with a new born around.

Mike's marketing strategy is to implore these mouth-breathers to tell their friends about the Failcast, ignoring the fact these people have no friends.

They have between 10k and 30k downloads per episode, and there are maybe 5 broken fanbots on FB. As someone who listens to an hour a day at work, frequently enjoys certain segments, auto-skips anything involving politics, and no, doesn't encourage my friends to listen ... I'm going to make the perhaps false assumption that I'm a more typical listener than the ~5 drones.

I think I'm right, though, because if I weren't, you'd see a lot more than 5 drones out of 805 FB members.

Still can't tell my friends to listen, so the net effect is the same as not having any from their perspective.

Remember when Big O and Dukes started offering Reloaded and almost immediately there were people torrenting it? Well I checked to see if there was any such behavior regarding TMOS and guess what? Nothing. No one is stealing it and no one is looking for a way to either. Can you think of anything that cost money that people don't try to steal? It just shows how small the demand for the show is.

I've noticed that Robb sounds kind of subdued and a little depressed lately. I actually first noticed it during the Vegas shows. The only time he's really perked up since then was when Mike first came back from Fla, and Robb sounded hysterically happen to see him.

I think Robb's not really happy with they way things are going. Soon, he won't be able to go to Mike's house every day and hang with him and Oscar. He'll be stuck in the basement 24/7 podcasting from home.

Well, if you're going to be a stay-at-home househusband Robb, then embrace the role. Pick the kids up from school, do the grocery shopping, the laundry, walk the dog, cook dinner for your family every night.

At least that way, you're making a contribution.

Listening to today's show, it has a little good stuff in it. Only an 11 minute birthday seg to FF through. They never mentioned they were recording it on Wednesday and I wish it hadn't snowed because then the most "transparent" would have had to explain tomorrow. They annouced their need for everyone to participate in a 24 hour social media blitz next Wednesday using their hashtag #TMOS1000, apparently promoting the combined weight of the show. Oscar and Rob made some decent comments during Mike's story of how his sister made him shit his pants as a kid. then it was Duh news, nothing timely, just stupid news. then a 10 min FF through the audio vault. All in all a better show than most.

Robb's likely genuinely hurt from being dropped from KCJJ. That show and the relationship he believed he had with the station personnel meant a lot to him.

Robb is probably depressed because he ruined his career and probably irreversibly damaged his personal life by hitching his wagon to a fat, lazy mule and then that mule actually had enough gumption to leave.

Yeah...Robb always thought Iowa was plan B...That was part of his Tiny Tim existence... He always thought he could just pick up and move to Coraville if anything happened to the Failcast...And now that is gone and he's got to scramble, because even Stevie can see this thing ain't gonna work when Mike moves back to FloriDUH...

And the summer looms, with the kids out of school, so they'll be underfoot. Even with Kings Dominion season passes, the gas, food, etc. of Robb and the kids going there every other day is beyond Cary's budget.

Their only audience are old Don and Mike fans. We, (and I include myself since I still listen) are hanging on for various reasons, mostly out of habit I suppose. It's like that slot machine you hit a jackpot on a long time ago. You go back to it time and time again with that sliver of hope that it will hit again but it repeatedly kicks you in the nuts. I can't imagine anyone finding the show entertaining without the Don and Mike show historical background knowledge. They peaked a long time ago and are now on a steady decline. I received an email basically begging me to resubscribe to the bonus shows. Never heard a word from them before, certainly never a "thank you". And how can O'Meara moving be anything but bad for the show on multiple levels. I think Oscar can see the future and that's why BOAD went to two nights a week. It is also probably the reason Rob started his new podcast, in hopes of a revenue stream once TMOS collapses. I mean fat chance but I bet that's what he is thinking.

Thanks for reminding me: from Feb 05, Mike thinks it's reasonable to be angry at a show you love (SNL) for letting you down.

Just three seconds of him, not the conversation. Was circa 52 minutes in.

You TMOS fanboys are free to post on here and try to have a debate about the show. That's the difference between the cult members and this place. You lot are so afraid of a dissenting opinion that you gang up and eventually block and delete. You are a sad bunch.

Hey, thanks for coming by! Like LOLscar said, we're glad to have you any time.

Also, it's not your fan page. It's our fan page.

Sure, many of us on FFU are former fans, but many others are current fans and even VIP members. Since you cared enough to post here, why don't you help make the show everything it could be by sharing in the constructive criticism. It's no kindness to know how to help someone but refrain from telling them. "Man, too bad that guy's about to step off a curb into an 8" puddle. Oh well, don't want to be an armchair navigator!"

If you aren't willing to help the show, then we're better fans than you'll ever be.
