Fairfax Underground
Welcome to Fairfax Underground, a project site designed to improve communication among residents of Fairfax County, VA. Feel free to post anything Northern Virginia residents would find interesting.
The key is that the station improves in general. The O'Meara show really doesn't contribute much to the station other than a morning zoo type format that is old school.
I'm usually here defending the MOM show, I love it, and most of you guys usually think I'm Mike or Robb or something stupid like that, but I'm not
Anyway I love the show, BUT I HATE WHEN THEY LET THAT STUPID CACKLING KATIE on the air.
I cannot stand her, and would love it if she never EVER Spoke on the show again
uh NO, not a female, what I can't find her lil' cutsie act totally fucking annoying and unattractive?
She is the only person they let on the air that I think weakens the show....
sorry not a girl, I love women, just not her
She may be a nice girl in person, probably is, just has an entirely weak and annoying on air personality

Most of the nose pickers on this site don't make up shit about their income or hide who they really are until the unlucky whore marries them and sees the real person...or Mike. That's pretty much been his track record. I've never seen a guy go from having girls enamored with him to hating his guts so fucking much. Well, I actually have. But those guys aren't stupid enough to get married and hand half of their shit over in divorce court.

Remember WTL, we're talking about MOM here. He can't help himself. Whether it's making a titanic ass of himself at a golf course or acting like a (now-ex) hot-shot "bar/restuarant owner" MOM will always act counter to his best interests. Hence, his relationship with Carlita.
I just remembered - MOM used to have a roped off "VIP area" in his classy Manassass joint - too f'in funny! I wonder if any VIPs (other than MOM and his loyal posse...) ever got roped in?
O'Meara's was off tha chaaiiin, dawg. We would drink Sparks nightly like they were going out of style, player. You flops don't know what you is talking about.
MOM barged his fat butt into the big o and dukes show today and completely railroaded a segment WHEN THEY HAD A PHONED IN GUEST ON THE LINE. not only is he a no talent hack, hes an unprofessional rude no talent hack.

True homes, true. Let's hook up there tonight - oh, we can't, it's closed!
So is Mike going to share more of his sport's knowledge this week? Is he going to have a 20-minute discussion about the Caps' third-string goalie? Or the Nats' AA pitching prospects? I love when he talks in depth about people nobody has heard of. The best part is when he does interviews about these people, asking 15-minute questions that he answers himself, giving his "guests" no time to respond.
Donni G has an important announcement coming soon. Lets all hope it's in reference to his radio comeback. It will be nice to talk about how much better his show is than MOM's. Even if he's spinnin' discs.

I just hope Donnie G goes up against Mike in the same time slot. That would be hilarious to see Donnie G in the Top 5 and Mike bouncing around 20-something place, saying, "But this show is so much better than D&M!"

That would be the best case scenario for sure. I'd like to know WPGC's current afternoon drive programming and rating. Don will make a big splash where ever he lands. With the appropriate promo. it should build sufficient enough anticipation among the fans to place him in the top 10 his 1st mo.
I know I'm just California Dreamin', but Jeez it would be nice to see the whole MOMS bitches get their freeking asses shit canned or at least bannished to nights.
Take this for what its worth. This and the WPGC banner on Dons Twitter.
Also may MOM BURN IN HELL for the radio stunt he's hyping for tomorrow. What a soulless piece o' crap. All the years he railed against this very type of self serving fake emotional bullshit. May be he will muster up some fake Kathy Lee Gifford tears why he's at it.
Geronimo & Bolter Powwow - 4/7 - Former WJFK radio god Don Geronimo was hanging out in Ocean City yesterday with DC TV news god Brian Bolter. Might Geronimo end up doing something at DC's Fox5 next year, after the end of his CBS Radio contract? Geronimo does reveal via Twitter that he's "trying hard to make a podcast happen, at the very least. Legal issues remain." Even though Geronimo left CBS guy talker WJFK in April 2008, he's still under the legal claws of CBS for another year or so. Stay tuned.....

it is pretty hard to trump death (Freida)
but RobB's tale of woe is going to try...
Why would you talk this up?
Stay tuned for tragedy narrowly averted...
A very special OMeara show as we look back at Spewacks sick kid.
Might have some substance, if they hadnt been promoting it for three weeks.
Just comes off as cheap and very Jack Diamond-esque.
Hoping thatll goose your one day rating?RIP OMeara show
Thanks for bumping this back up to the top and then for giving me an opportunity to bump it back up. Nearly 83,000 views. That's about 12,000 since word got out that MoM wasn't going away on April 1. Hmmm. Seems like we still have some momentum here.

Are they really dragging out Rob(b)'s kid for something like that? Really? If so, someone needs to call social services on Rob(b) for exploiting and emotionally damaging his kid.

Do you think it's just coincidence because of all the years they've shared, or is someone peeking at Don's twitter for some inspiration? I do think it's interesting that Don mentioned filet-o-fish jingle and mike plays jingle ad nauseum. Don always channels La'y King on his twitter... today for the first time in a while, Mike does Larry....
"A Mike O'Meara show you don't want to miss." Quote about the tale that they'll tell today about one of Rob's kids being sick. Exploitation to the nth degree. Bad karma, IMHO. Try being funny, not dragging a sick kid out for attention. Lack of ratings make people do desperate things.

It's a classic Jack Diamond "get the old ladies crying" stunt. O'Meara is supposed to be appealing to 25-45 men, not 50-plus women. It's not rocket science.

What's more curious here is why is Rob(b) playing along with this? Is he so desperate for a job he's forced into child expolitation?
Well, I guess it has to be Spewak - MOM's ex-wife would never let him parade is daughters on air for forced ratings.
MOM's ex-wife #2, at least she's got balls, unlike MOM and Rob(b).
PS-I've given up totally on JFK - I encourage everyone get XM/Sirius and tune into Jason Ellis on XM 52 in drive time. You'll get more edge and entertainment in 5 minutes of Jason's show than you will in a year of MOM's poor Jack Diamond imitation.
I listened to the Junkies this morning for a bit. They started that whole "This happened to me. We want listeners to call in to tell us if something similar happened to you."
Lazy, phone-it-in radio at its finest. Jack Diamond has made an entire career out of "Tell us a time this happened to you" and reading shitty jokes from shitty joke services.

Donnie G, being the class act. He congratulates Mike on his 1st Anniversary. Mike openly discusses how HE wasn't happy with Don and his fixation on Freda's death the day before Don gets re-married.

Yes, los Junkies have been phoning it in for a long, long time. "The Sports Page", "Entertainment News", phone in games that rival the MOMS versions for time-wasting and stupidity, etc., etc.
You can tell those slackers tune out of work mode 2 seconds after the show is over. "Show prep"? Why bother? It's easier to complain about Eliot's ratings that actually entertain - I understand Junks. Go home and take a nap boys...
With a station led by Hughes and CK I don't expect much - those two probably consider the Junks and MOM scary-assed, monster radio talent, so they don't dare make changes to the 14th and 22nd rated JFK juggernaughts.

If you noticed, the Junkies PPMs jumped around the time the rumored changes were supposed to occur to WJFK. I wonder if people were tuning in first thing to see if the format changed? I've noticed the Junkies have already slipped from 11th place to 14th place. I'm sure they will be back to the 17 to 20th place range again in the coming weeks.
WashingTone Locian Wrote:

You make a good point, water will seek it's own level and los Junks will be were they have historically/continually resided - at the lower tier of drive time radio.
When I listened to them, their producer CK was unfailing in his ability to break program flow and bits (as meager as they were) in deference to commercial breaks. And Los Lazy Junks were/are always accomodating, they'd stop any good radio to get to those commercial breaks. That's our Junks: work to the rule, don't break a sweat.
In the latter stages of Howard's presence on JFK, Hughes was cutting into show content to air ads - and young CK has learned well from his Mac Daddy: Fuck show content - get those ads on!!
MOM is a king of work to the almighty JFK ad rule. I can just hear today's "can't miss" Spewak tear jerker:
MOM: Then what happened Rob(b)?
Rob(b): (Sob, sniffle) Well the doctor came out of the operating room and...
MOM: Rob(b) hold that thought! We'll get right back to Rob(b)'s heartbreak, after this commercial break, the "Buzz Beat" and an interview with the author of "Hairballs Through the Ages".
Thank God for XM/Sirius, and it's far from perfect!!
I,m sure there will be a ratings bump coming out of the "Very special MOMS"show. We should wager on whether or not Mike will hype it or not in the near future.
It would be another testament to his shameless, pathetic downward spiral.Thats why everyone should listen. It's kind of like watching the rescue of a giant whale off the beach.
The MOM show is putting on a contest / promotion called "Tats for Tots"....I cannot imagine allowing a child to get a Tattoo even if they have permission from the parents. Knowing how many bad parents out there who would allow this and think it cute does not make it right. This is committing child abuse. And MOM and his band of idiots are complicit.
I hope someone in the Washington area calls Child Protective Services and reports this.
Fucking unbelievable....!!! There is a better way to save a dying Radio Show...Maybe Mike could start with Show Prep and creative thought....

Kind of how his spreading rumors of his show impending demise drove his ratings up (from 20th place to 21st place...oh, wait. That's driving ratings down.)

Absolutely shameful to use a child's illness to promote a "special segment" of a radio show. Don didn't give out details when his adult daughter was very ill and hospitalized.
Robb is a coward for not preventing Mike from doing it.

Truly awful. Nothing like exploiting your children for ratings!
It's one thing to talk about your personal life. It's another thing to exploit a kid's illness for ratings.

I think it's great that Robb is finally comfortable enough to talk about his experiences on the air. I see why some call it exploitive, but he is helping out the doctors who helped his family and giving hope to anyone else currently going through hard times. It also adds a new dimension of depth to the "character" of Robb.
Doubt many will agree with me though.
This is the final straw with me, Mike is a complete ass. Great anniversary show! Way to use up Robb's kid just like you use Freda's death to your own advantage.

No problem F R&M. Did anyone catch Mikes "Moment" ? complete with the "I said I wasn't gonna let this happen? Then being the amazing on air talent that he is re-composed himself seconds later seemingly un-phased. Mike Omeara is sociopathic.
He will never realize how morally wrong this type of behavior is. The only good thing about sociopaths is they are self-destructive. God Speed Mr. O'meara.
if they were genuinely trying to help awareness of a illness they would not have talked up the show for days rather cryptically as being about a "health emergency" that Robb's son went through. Mike also went out of his way to say that this occurred when Don had his tragedy, just to provoke curiosity.
To promote awareness have a doctor on the show to explain things and have Robb share his experiences as a parent that went through it and promote the show as such.
How can you promote awareness when all the advance talk about the show never mentioned the nameof the illness they were going to talk about?

I don't believe the issue is so much that Rob(b) is talking about it. I think the issue is that Mike spent days teasing it like it was a concert announcement in order to drive up his ratings. "Come listen to the personal tragedy of Rob(b)."
When Don talked about Freda, you had the impression it was to deal with the grief and not to goose the ratings. Considering this happened to Rob(b) four years ago, it feels incredibly calculated.

Because he's not sincere. This is calculated bullshit.
I'm sorry his kid went through this. But this whole business of "my personal tragedy is just as worthy as Don's personal tragedy" is kind of sick.
Now we do have verification that the MOM staff does read this forum...

Listen to last podcast from yesterdays show where Mike was yelling at Beth Ann and throwing his water bottle around because she posted the Doctors name on the web site and blew Mike's big secret. What an exploitive ass.
I agree that Mike's little moment did come across as very insincere. You may be right about the sociopath thing, Smack. But I disagree with Tone, Robb sounded like he really needed to come out with it and get the thanks to the people who were there for him.
I also didn't perceive this as a contest with Don to see who had the worse tragedy, but more like a testimonial to how great a man Don is (for taking time to support Robb even when Don was going through hell) and how important Don is to the Spewaks.
Mike didn't even have a phone number or address for people to use to donate, he had to ask Beth ann to look one up. He has been plugging this before they even went on vacation. That to me just proves his true colors. Fake s.o.b. with crocodile tears.

Oh c'mon - I have nothing against Carlita and she has done nothing to me. However, I know Mike O'Meara and what an ASS he is. I know he reads this forum and really gets pissed when others write derogatory remarks about her. Some of them are hilarious.
I'm still at work and had to step outside to move my car. I must have been listening to the Junkies this morning as they were talking about people that have sex while driving. Anyway, my radio was still on WJFK so I accidentally caught the Mike O'Meara Show and Rob's experience. I usually can't listen to the show but was able to understand what everyone was writing about on this forum.
Although I feel bad for him and his family, I had to turn it off because of Rob's voice kept cracking and it sounded like he was crying at times, especially his tribute to his wife. Then, he had his kids on the air. Everyone is right, it was like listening to the Jerry Lewis Telethon.
It's incredibly insulting to the listener by assuming their ignorant enough not to see through this transparent cesspool of vomit, blood and nasal mucus. Someone at CBS needs to have their ass beat. This is the worst f-ing train wreck ever witnessed on radio.

This is another reason why I had to turn it off. Anyone who knows Mike O'Meara knows that he is not only a big ASS but a big insincere and unprepared ASS. This show would have worked on Jack Diamond. Just listening to three minutes make me feel like this is just a ploy for some improved ratings. It's a shame for Rob.
A show that instills any type of emotion is a good show. I watch shows that I hate all the time. Some people love to hate. How can dblpn11 judge others for how they like to enjoy a particular show? Just because it isn't the same way he enjoys it? Sounds like he lives in a very black and white world... must be nice.
The show's enemy is not the haters. It's the people that feel no emotion from the show and go on without ever thinking about the show again. We're all fans, and I feel sorry for poor dblpn15.
Good idea! Open up the phone lines for everyone and anyone that has ever had an exchange with Mike. It could be called "confronting your demons".

Not to mention their soon to be stripper/whore mother in-law
Is there any proof (pics) that Carla is/was a stripper? I can understand the MOM hate because the show is a shell of what the D&M show was, but why hate on her? Just seems a little mean is all. And take the Junkies hate elsewhere, or start a new thread for it.

As I said, the biggest problem people have with this isn't so much Rob(b), but Mike's hyping this like it was a big concert announcement or interview get. Rob(b) may very well be sincere. But the fact that he has allowed a very personal matter to be exploited by Mike to get ratings, you have to wonder what the hell he was thinking.

It will be on tomorrow, next week, next month, next fall...just get used to it.
the numbers aren't fake, but i'm starting to agree. tonelocian you've been wrong soo many times on the show getting cancelled just shut the hell up and make some contextually relevant burns for heaven sake.

Your right. The numbers, "[www.wikinvest.com]) " probably don't mean dick to the "Powers that be", However, there is such a thing called the "real world" or share holders that do not appreciate the production monetarily. As you can tell by the bottom line, it's to late to short sell the worthless paper known as Westwood One. However continued performance as displayed by CBS owned subs like WJFK in the 3rd largest market nationally, and yes , your coveted MOM piece of shit, may bring us to a factor of 0. Consider yourself a genius.
Oh! I'm sorry dbldn 11, or what ever the fuck your name is. I forgot to hyperlinkhttp://www.wikinvest.com/stock/CBS_(CBS). Why don't you try and decipher this 411 and may be, just may be the truth will reveal itself to you. Thank You Jesus!
McSmack - The only truth necessary is that every day I go to ITunes and viola! The show is there to be downloaded. Everything else is just TonLocian alone in a dark room, quietly weeping over his computer and dreaming up new death dates for the show. With one hand.
