I'd love to see a real angry fight between Robb and Mike. It'd never happen but wouldn't it be great to hear how ugly it could get?
They know stuff about each other and both have shown that they're not too proud to use the insults that really sting.
A small subtext note: Anyone notice how Mike's horrible physical condition (morbidly obese, no exercise, continued smoking, drinking and over-eating to excess) bothers Oscar more than anyone else? I think he's really upset about it but knows he can't confront the "boss" about a subject like that. He sounded so defeated last week when a short walk got Mike winded.

yeah, that would be pretty interesting, but, you're right . . . won't ever happen. i could see it between any 2, except those 2. they do always seem to kinda "go for the throat" when oscar is just throwing out little jabs.

It's hard not to think of Mike every time I hear it.
Didn't anyone tell Mike that podcasts are still for supplementing your income. He's a fool if he thinks he's going to feed five families with the ad revenue from a one hour online chat. Time for Mike to get out and start looking for a real job or shut the hell up about being "poor".

Mike was probably the author of that little masterpiece. But it was such an incoherent mess that I'm genuinely surprised that he didn't see how much work it still needed. Maybe he wrote it while he was drunk.

5 minutes of utter crap. For some reason, I half-listened to the whole show. Terrible. Nothing interesting from Sturgis. Not even a broadcast or "audio travel log" from Friday, so Mike should reimburse the show for 1/5 of his travel costs. Oscar actually does improve the Failcast somehow. Listening to Mike try and talk about politics makes my head hurt.

still listening to last week's episodes, and i'm on (i think) the wednesday one with the longer beginning with mike from sturgis. robb diving in way too much, but at least NO ONE is laughing at his little comments but him -- that's GREAT!!!!

I couldn't agree more. Mike rarely gets to a point and if he does, it's after a handful of false starts. When they started doing the podcast, I cut Mike a little slack but that changed when he started yelling at RJ for not being a "professional broadcaster".
There was a good example of this on yesterday's show. He rambled on about the death of Johnny Pesky but he couldn't come up with anything worth mentioning about him. He was old. Mike and his wife got their picture taken with him. He died. Why was he famous? Don't know. End of story. Thanks for sharing.

Most people speak because they have a thought they want to express. Others just start talking -- loving the sound of their own voice --and hope that a point will appear before they run out of air.
That's why Mike often starts with generic "filler" like: "I'm here to tell you..." or "Let me just say...". Verbal packing peanuts.
Good public speakers (and "professional" broadcasters) work hard at clarifying their thoughts and expressing them succinctly. But the first thing you have to do is come up with a point before you start to speak.
Robb's a little better at this. Oscar isn't too bad but he trips over his patchy vocabulary so he sounds foolish most of the time. Buzz is the real rhetorical champ on the show. Ironic, since he rarely gets much time to speak outside his news segment. He speaks carefully and accurately, usually in complete sentences.
The trip to Sturgis was a huge failure. Mike couldn't pull it together enough to describe the experience. What's the point of making the long journey out west if all he does is complain about being hungover and sick. He can do that right in his living room. Am I the only one who's still waiting for details about what makes Wyoming so awful? Spell it out, Mike. That's what we're here for.
Mike brags about having a journalism degree but he retained nothing from that questionable education.
The faculty at American University must hang their collective heads in shame every time Mike opens his doughy little mouth.

It gets really heated when he starts talking about RJ wanting to be paid for all the time he's devoted to the podcast.
He also accused RJ of trying to paint him (Mike) as the "bad guy".

Did anybody hear the news segment on WTOP two days ago where they did a story about Robb's kid not having cancer anymore or something? They even interviewed Robb. The story served no purpose, but I'm sure Robb got a hard on for being on the radio again, even if it was for 7 seconds.

From the very beginning, RJ has donated his time to the podcast. It's a bizarre situation. Mike paid him nothing,treated him like crap, insulted him every time he got near a microphone and RJ kept coming back for more.
He must have been hoping it would eventually turn into a paid position.
Sorry, RJ... those casinos are much more important to Mike that your well-being.
