Everyone hates Mike and loves Don. They both are great now, they were awesome together. BUT, give up the bitching! They are doing different things now. Mike's show is funny despite you twits that love to hate without reason and so is Don's show. Mike is a little more straight funny voices and comedy and Don is basically the same as he ever was, which was VERY FUNNY! You whiny bunch of idiots complain so much when you should feel lucky that now you have two shows to listen to. Listen to Dr. Laura if you hate Mike or maybe RYAN GAYCREST is more your style. If you think Mike's show isn't funny then you simply don't know what funny is. Get out of the past losers and move on!

Mike's show on JFK failed.

His podcast failed.

His stint on 105.9 will fail.

Don's show o KHTK may fail. But he has a track record of succeeding with Mike and without. Mike has nothing but Don.

Shameless and desperate promotion of anything to make a buck......$45.00 for $5 tee shirts, porn for special entertainment shows, money for "bonus" shows. What's the definition of bonus to you?

The guy is working at a radio station at 5 am for peanuts because his "profitable" podcast isn't so profitable after all. If it were a success, wouldn't he be rolling out of bed at 10am every morning?

The fact is the podcast makes NO money. Buzz, Rob(b), Oscar and the five or six sycophants Mike has working for him are taking home NOTHING. Nada. Whatever money the thing pulls in barely covers the bandwidth cost.

still doesn't explain how it is "failing". depends on how you define failing, throwing around that word is too general. maybe you do not prefer the casts/bonus/merchandise promotions - but some people must be enjoying it and are willing to support. you could always listen for free and just hope it can stay afloat.

i'm not sure this is much different than say npr that lives off of donations from the public. somebody has to pay for the various bills, equipment, bandwidth, web space, time . at least they are upfront with needing support.

either listen or don't listen and stop being so darn critical. it just depends how you like to enjoy your time and spend your money. if one chooses to "donate" 1.29 a week, so be it, its barely any money and does help keep the engine going.

what do you have that you can share with the group so we can evaluate if you are failing or not?

could be, but like any business I am sure they have a specific time where there was a certain investment and they will decide whether or not to pull the plug and/or trim some folks out of the picture. what do you care about the details, who cares how much who is getting paid, not paid, is profitable or not. if you dig, listen, if not, don't.

Why can't critics be criticzed? Some of the negative comments directed toward Mike and the podcast really amount to nothing. They have no direction or factual backing just hate. As for selling products to earn money, most performers do this. The Beatles did it! Maybe you are feeling a bit left out that you don't UNDERSTAND why the podcast is funny.

Is the podcast profitable? No. Mike claimed that he fell in love with podcasting and didn't plan on working in radio again if he could make it work. The fact that he is back in radio (at a shitty morning gig making, by his own admission, exponentially less than he used to) is an admission that the podcast is a failure.

Yes. But for years D&M used to chastise performers who did this kind of thing. The second Mike is on his own, he starts selling overpriced shit.

That's because they were the Beatles. Mike is most definitely not the Beatles.

Maybe if Mike hadn't been such an ass to his callers, his co-workers, and just about everybody on TMOS, this thread would have died out long ago. I liked Mike until TMOS, but once he had his own show, he became mean to everybody, without bringing much funny to back it up, and I lost interest in him very quickly. When Don was mean on the air, you understood that much of it was for entertainment value; when Mike was mean on the air, it felt like I was listening to someone's private arguments.

But if you think "lick it, pinch it, curl it" and "shake yer boobs" was funny stuff, then I have to admit that TMOS was probably the epitome of funny for you.

I hear his few remaining fans talk about how funny he is and what a great story teller he is. The guy talks about dog shit. Literally, dog shit. That stopped being funny when I was six. Anyone who thinks this is funny must have the IQ of a five-year-old.

Mike's "shake your boobs" might be the ultimate nadir of comedy. Not talk radio, not podcasting. Comedy.

Literally the ONLY time I genuinely laughed during the entire podcast's run was when Mike was telling a story about when was with some ex in like Barbdos or something, who subsequently left Mike on the island. After a long night out sorrows-drowning, Mike was about to drunkenly fight some local who was casing him for a mugging. Mike said he screamed "BRING it!" to the man, who then fled in "fear". As Mike told this story, there was some sweet and soothing classical music playing in the background. This juxtaposition of Mike's story of a pathetic drunken night of failed relationships and threatening violence with peaceful and calming music was funny. But of course, Mike didn't even want the music played while he told this story.

WashingTone-Locian said it best: "It's funny, in a sad and ironic kind of way."

Hey, Mike. Word of advice: just playing La Cucaracha when there's something vaguely related to someone who's Hispanic or playing Indian music when something vaguely involves someone Middle-Eastern isn't clever or funny. It does not make your inane parking-lot story more interesting or entertaining.

Yes I listened for 10 minutes this morning. He played both of these within literally 10 minutes, plus several other sound effects (buzzer again and again and again). Overuse of sound effects are, to me, the lowest form of radio. It's the equivalent of a prop comic.

Washing-Tone Locian,
Why does it bother YOU so much? I like the show not everyone should. If you hate him and the show why are you here commenting that you hate him? If you can't stand the show ignore it then. I'm commenting because the show still makes me laugh and is an important part of my day. Seriously, let us all know what we're missing. What show do you think is funny? Don't say Don and Mike circa 1999 or 2002, the show is done! What do you like now? Tell us please so we don't have to be so clueless. All hate from you and no alternative. When someone challenges your opinion you hate that person too. So should we listen to your show? Do you have one? Do you have sponsors? If not then tell me who will entertain me intellectually. By the way does comedy have to be cerebral to be funny?

As I have stated many times, I listen to Adam Carolla. If Howard Stern ever comes back to regular radio or starts podcasting, I will listen to him, too.

As for Mike, why do you care what I think? My expressing of my opinion doesn't prevent you from listening to his crappy show.

I've listened to the Kirk and Mike show a little bit during my commute and while it's nowhere near as bad as the MOM Show or the podcast, my favorite moment was when they played the Mel Gibson tapes. Mike to emphasize over and over that he wasn't condoning Mel but he was clearly trying to place some of the blame on the girlfriend. He even admitted he's been in that position where you feel like you're being baited by a significant other who's being calm in order to get under your skin. He kept trying to get Kirk and Shamrock to agree that girlfriends/wives who don't work can suck you dry but they wouldn't go down that route and it was pissing Mike off because he kept looking like the ass that he is. It was pretty revealing look into the minds of Mike O'Meara.

I'm sure Mel also blames his girlfriend for getting in the way of his fist. Whatever the gal's motivation in taping and releasing the audio, it's obvious Gibson dug this hole for himself. Mike is a fucking moron for trying to defend him.

Let’s flip the old chestnut brought out by many forum posters in the past. When I say many posters, I mean Mike and company.

“If you don’t care why do you listen?” (or some variation thereof)

Q: If what is said here doesn’t bother you, why post here? Why even click on the thread?
A: You consider it a personal attack because you are in fact Mike! (or his butt boy Rob(b)) Your fragile ego must be reinforced by your lashing out because any chink in the armor will allow the cruel light of reality to seep in.

By the way something, what’d you care?

I would also point out Mike's bands name is Nasty Little People

The people who defend MOM from "bashing" refuse to recognize that he does alot of bashing himself,,,

At some point we were all Don and Mike fans,,,,we all have that mutually shared experience in common and that's why this thread is relevant and interesting

,,,,this thread has 300,000+ views,,,positive and negative,,,and is single handedly keeping MOM in the public conscience

Without this thread,,, MOM is no different than Jack Diamond

Actually, Jack Diamond gets paid and has a show that is in the Top 10 more often than not, so Mike doesn't even compare to him.

Got to love people who have 4 or 5 posts, on this page alone, who ridicule the haters for having no lives and sitting in a basement all day posting online.

Hello, pot. Meet my good friend Mr. Kettle.

And what fantasy world was that one poster living in when he talked about Rob(b) opening up a can of whoop ass on the haters? Baby Huey? The only thing he's going to open any time soon is a Honeymooners DVD package and a bag of Oreos. If you challenge Rob(b) to anything other than an eating contest, or a 1950's tv trivia contest, he'll fold like an accordion.

For good entertainment, I have enjoyed logging into this site and reading about what an idiot Mike O'Meara is. I enjoy people that write in and bash Mike.

I have to admit that if I didn't know Mike personally, I probably would enjoy listening to his various shows. However, I know him and he is a "piece of shit" person. It changes my perception of him when I listen to his new show. It's posters like "pod" that really make this website - people that complain about the Mike bashing. They don't understand - they wouldn't bother to post if they met him in person.

BAM - you're absolutely right. Can you imagine an idiot like Rob(b) ready to fight someone? He probably would have a heart attack before he had a chance to throw a punch. THe only person that would be slower that he could beat would be Mike himself.

Well if you knew anything about the man, you'd know that Robb has a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but obviously you don't know much based on the lame smack talk you post here. He never talks about it on the air because he doesn't want to sound like he's bragging, but i can say for certain that if you mess with Robb Spewak, you'll get the horns.

Want 'real', well here's real:

A Black Belt means NOTHING!

Rob(b) would need another Rob(b) on his back to handle any real formidable opponent. Unless he dropped the spare tire and man-boobs, he doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell at beating half the women I know that have some sort of Martial Arts training, and would get his chin-strap clock cleaned, or at best get thrown around and folded up like a soft fat pretzel, or better yet a piece of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Origami.

The only belt Robb has around his waist is a red mark from the underwear that he probably hasn't changed since he got laid off from CBS.

The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference.

You all are losers with no life and nothing to to go on but absurd accusations. If we're all wrong and you're so right, prove it. Show us the numbers so we can see you know what you're talking about. I found some numbers for you...

#1 comedy album on iTunes.
#10 audio podcast in iTunes comedy category
1 of 4 featured podcasts of the week on iTunes.

You're right. Total and complete failure. Don't say the iTunes stuff doesn't mean anything because you all were quick to cheer on Don Geronimo when his podcast was ahead of Mike's for a brief period of time.

The podcast would be a hell of a lot better if it were "The Oscar Santana Show" with Mike in a supporting capacity instead of being the top banana. Mike has no life... it's boring as hell listening to him talk about the dogs, dog shit, food, getting drunk, how fat he is, or the fact that he actually has to get up at 3:30 and go to work for a living.

Oscar's life has drama and better stories... and he's almost half as old as Mike, but seems to have lived more life. My late esteemed colleague and creator of the CBS News program '60 Minutes' Don Hewitt used to say the key to a good show is to "Tell 'em a story". Oscar tells a good story. Mike doesn't, he just sits there and complains for sixty minutes... what a waste.

Mike is the fat kid on the playground you would make fun of, but Oscar is the cool kid you would want to hang out with.

What’s the deal with Oscar…

Why I’ve heard rumblings that Big O & Dukes might be reincarnated in podcast form. Looks like Mr. Zeballos is planning for the future, an inevitable future where the well worn O’Meara bids the podcast adieu. That’ll make ol’ Rob(b) more useless than the dusty piles of lumber in my shed. Speaking of deadwood, I wonder what the sentiments of the rest of the crew will be once the online venture goes belly up. All of that toil for peanuts, only to be left in the dust by your impassive “hero”.

On this morning's podcast, Adam Carolla says his show has sold 2,000 ManGrates. With the 25% discount, that figures to $75 x 2,000 = $150,000. I would assume Carolla probably got paid between $25K and $50K for those spots.

Now, let's figure out what MOM probably got. If Carolla has 250,000 listeners and Mike has 15,000 listeners, that means Mike has roughly 6 percent of Carolla's audience. That means in all likelihood MOM has sold about 120 ManGrates.

So 120 ManGrates x $75 = $9,000.

So even if ManGrates had handed all those revenues over to MOM, which we know didn't happen, and since Rob(b) gets 12.5% of the show, that means each "cast member," sans Mike, would get $1,125.

But, as we know, MOM made nowhere near that, so the ManGrates windfall for Rob(b) and company, excluding out of pocket expenses like bandwidth and equipment, etc, comes to a couple hundred bucks.

"Profitable," indeed.

Thank you, Dan O., I appreciate hearing a guy say this. I was thinking the very same thing.

Mike kept trying to (at least partially) blame Gibson's manic rant on his girlfriend saying that she was "pushing his buttons." It didn't have anything to do with anyone pushing his buttons. The man obviously has some mental health issues. But according to Mike, she was "baiting" him by .....keeping calm. Whatever, Mike.

And did you hear how he almost got into it with Shamrock? And this is what -- only his second week on the job.

Don't listen to all the assclowns and haters talking shit on here. They obviously are jealous or have some kind of problem with Mike and his lifestyle. They're a bunch of bandwagon wannabe's. But trust me, once the podcasts start taking off, they'll all come running back in droves talking about how cool and funny Mike is- acting like they were always big fans that never said a bad word. There's been a ton of positive feedback on other forums, and trust me, these losers will come crawling back with their tails between there legs.

Once it takes off? It's been eight fucking months!!! MOM had 1 million downloads the first month. It took another six month to get to 2 million downloads. That means the vast majority of people who give the podcast a try quit listening!!!

She obviously had a plan to record this and distribute it and probably provoked him. But that doesn't excuse Gibson's behavior. Mike trying to put the blame on her is like trying to blame a murder victim for provoking the killer by saying "fuck you" at a bar. The response far outweighs the initial provocation. But apparently Mike doesn't understand that.

I hadn't heard that, but it seemed like he and Shamrock were already having problems the first week. It's only a matter of time.

This breakdown was great! (No pun intended.) I love to see how the shilling breaks down. Also, here's a general problem with the Man Grates...no repeat business! Once you've shelled out the dough, you've got it, you don't need to keep getting it. You think that more people are going to be buying these things off of the podcast? Not likely, methinks.

WashingTone-

The fact that you spend your life looking for ways to bash a guy you don't really know, is truly hilarious. Of course passionate fans are going to passionately respond to you and your comments. We aren't responding because "We know its true". We're responding because we enjoy the show and are entertained by it.

Don't you see that you look like the bigger fool? You're the one that claims to hate O'Meara, yet you're the one that has made a cyber-life out of talking about him constantly.

Ummmmmmmmmm, only problem is that it is the same person(s) (Mike & gang) that keep responding with the same childish comments and humor that could easily be surpassed by a second grader. How do I know this??? Easy, because no real fan would waste their time, nor are they Googling Mikes name to find this armpit of a site just to take offense to what other listeners/ avid nonlisteners have to say. Passionate responses???, no more like CONSISTANTLY INTELLECTUALLY CHALLENGED RESPONSES is more like it, with a real phoney ring to them.

First, I spend less time thinking of ways to bash Mike than Mike spends prepping for a show (amazing, I know, but possible). Second, the MOM failcast provides plenty of material, so it's easy.

I'm really starting to think that the "bonus hours" are just them rehashing the same material that they had to bleep out on the regular podcast only this time they have even less to say on the subject, much less anything funny. I began to notice this when they were listening to the edited Mel Gibson tapes where Mike said he was "so excited" for the bonus hour so he could talk about the cursing...here's an idea: why don't you just make it an "explict podcast" and play whatever the fuck you want, just like everybody else (Don aside, obviously)? It's not like your sponsors are going to drop you. Okay, maybe that po-dunk AM talker that broadcasts the podcast for some reason might drop them, but who will really care/notice?

Can any of you apparently "loyal" Mike fans that have been posting on here recently speak to the content of the "bonus hours"?

I like the clip, but it is on autoplay. Everything I refresh this thread, it restarts. Can you take it off of autoplay or delete it?

Well, there are about 1,000,000 untalented chicks with boob jobs. But if you're talking about one in particular, I was fascinated at the studio quality audio on her end of the phone call.

Thanks. Some of these hosting sites just go right into autoplay. I guess so that they can boost their viewing stats.

Sounds like Oscar is reading the writing on the wall. Too bad Jiu Jitsu Panda hasn't figured it out, yet...

I hate it that 105.9 has decided to become yet another station with annoying programs. For close to a year, basically all you heard on 105.9 were tunes - damned good ones. I pretty much deleted all my other presets except for that one, Jack FM (sometimes) and WTOP.

I guess the party had to end at some point.

Agreed. It was a much better station when there wasn't all this bullshit yammering going on.

Better pick up a TMOS “autographed t-shirt” (if you haven’t already), they are about to be collector’s items!

This thread is bizarre.

Here I am contributing. I just can't comprehend the vitriol that is spewing out from what seems like three of the same people who just can't compel themselves to stop commenting on a messageboard for what seems like years, with the same exact sentiments being expressed over and over. Washingtonelocian, fuck, we GET it. You think Mike is lame, and obviously, it consumes you to some degree so that every single christing post that comes on here you respond to. Do you moderate this thread or something?
I don't care much either way about the show, in fact I can see some people's takes on it, positive and negative, but I'm just curious about the psychology that forces the same god damned people to continually post here every time anyone writes anything. wait, i do know- its people with virtually nothing but time on their hands. oops, me too. but for five fucking minutes of my day. you people seem to devote hours and hours to monitoring and responding to this one god forsaken radio show thread. god damned crazy! you all must be salaried!

Strange, when the posts hit a little too close to home, “randos” come out of the woodwork…

It’s almost as though you are personally vested in this issue somehow. Well no matter, everyone is entitled to express their opinion.

yes, yes, all of a sudden, this 70 page thread hits close to home. i'm just ravaged by the personal pain i feel for your distaste for the mike o meara show.

how about this: my five or ten minute posts are a tiny iota next to the personal interest and obsession that you have clearly got for this show, and for hammering home your point over and over and over. you've devoted like what, two years to constantly commenting on this subject? seems to me that YOU are the one with a personal stake, and some strange emotional release from this. i'm just an anonymous guy who stumbled on a messageboard and decided to comment on YOU.

it's straight up weird. my opinion. but i guess that's the internet for you.

adieu.

We saw kind of the same bullshit posts at the end of the real MOM show on WJFK.

It is kind of like someone close to the show is coming on here and doing some sort of a "strange emotional" swan song.

It's straight up weird in my opinion....... Kind of like meeting your wife in a strip club.

I agree. It's like Mike's "we aren't going anywhere" speech. Two months later, the show was gone.

actually my post isn't bullshit- you're proving with every response that it is perfectly accurate. you've got this great logic you use to shoot down people who post contrarian opinions- that either they are close with the show, or that the very fact that they're on here commenting on your inanity nullifies their point. so i'm postulating my own self-evident gratuitous logic here- every time you write back to anything on here ever again, it simply means you have no self control or life or ability to hate something, and be done with it. this whole 70 page thread is actually about and centered around like three people, and none of them are mike o'meara. its washingtonelocian, mcsmack and this dcian character. this two year long consistency reveals more about your personalities than about anything else. congratulations.

this messageboard must be how you define yourselves to some extent- you're the mike o'meara guys that keep it going, and you KNOW it. you fucking know it. you can't go by without looking at this thread every few hours and tie up any loose ends that manifest. go ahead, prove it. respond. i know i can count on you, because you have some kind of rep here on this website to maintain. i don't. wait i'm sure you'll say since i am commenting, i am entering in to the same dialog as you and how that i'm just as guilty, and wow i seem worked up boy it must mean something to me blah blah. whatever. i know, i get it. messageboards. i get it.

by the way, even if i was close with the show, the point that i'd be making would still be spot fucking on. so tally ho, you three guys- keep it going. spend a few more hours today checking up and making your case to no one and everyone, like i guess i just did.

actually, adieu this time.

I continue to follow the thread mainly because I find it funny that people seemingly "find" this thread out of nowhere and feel the need to defend the show.
