Excellent job using a story line from an old movie as an argument, douche!

Wake up and smell the mediocrity, the good ship O'Meara is slowly sinking into the abyss and taking you with it. Think you know me, homeboy? You think living in MD makes you the authority on joaning? I am actually a DC native, I haven't really spent much time in Manassas, you see one Pupuseria, you've seen them all. If by "the cave" you are referring to your mom's vag, yeah I spent a little time there back in the day, hell I may be your daddy.

Latest ratings have Kirk and Mike in 19th place. Didn't they start out in 17th place?

Not going the right direction.

Kirk isn't much of a radio personality either. His Don Cornelius voice might be fine for playing music and making a few comments on the side, but that's about it.

Mike, as usual, just sounds like a big blow hard. I listened to the podcast from Monday's show, when he brought in his two daughters. I felt sorry for them, Mike was just embarassing.

I can hear the conversation now...

Kenny:
Mike step into my office, oh and close the door...

Mike:
...But we were just gaining some momentum, we just needed a little traction. I blame this on lack of promotion, would it have killed you to print up a few bumper stickers? Once again I am a victim of this damned economy! I'm Mike f'ing O'Meara, goddamnit!

The meter has to be running on this guy. I mean, you can be a fucking Prima donna like Don if you bring the numbers and money in. But if you are doing worse than canned music and some announcer making $60K a year, you are fucked.

Does anybody know how long Mike's contract runs with 105.9? 6 months? A year? There is no way Citadel is going to keep this show around for long if it's bringing in smaller numbers than a music only format. Their profit margin on this show right now has to be slim to none. If these guys don't have any chemistry by now, then it's over already.

Given the contract debacle they had with Andy and Grandy, I would have to imagine they have a pretty good escape clause. It's not like Mike had a bunch of offers at his door, so Citadel was in a position to dictate all of the terms to their benefit.

More bad news for Mike,,,the Greaseman is available again

If MOM loses his gig, and Greasman replaces him, you better put him on 24 hr

Then again,it would be hilarious if they made him work with the greaseman,,,

I have to imagine that his agent will drop him after he is let go from the Citadel gig. Mike is more hassle than he's worth these days.
O'Meara will truly be fucked at this point. No job, no agent, no prospects and a mountain of debt. How many bridges can one man burn? That will be a good time to start listening to the failcast again, if that's still around.

He'll still have options though...

Not to mention the fact that Don is on a SPORTS station and is the most popular show on KHTK! WJFK needs to take a page from KHTK's book and put a pure "hot-talk" show back on the air. Whether its Big O and Dukes, whoever. I'm just tired of 24/7 "Albert Haynesworth is lazy and fat" talk.

If you listen to the Sports Reporters on WTEM, it is world's apart from the dreck on WJFK. Czab and Andy feature something new each segment and bring on guests who know the subject matter. Once segment might be about golf. Another about college hoops. Another about the Redskins. They don't sit there and spend four hours bitching and moaning about the same shit over and over again, unlike Lavar and Dukes. They are fucking horrible.

You hit the nail on the head with Lavar and Dukes. They're either moaning and groaning about something, talking about the same thing over and over again from day to day, or come up with creative and exhilarating topics such as who should wear number one on the Redskins? what are your thoughts of the Redskins moving to Madison Square Garden? do you think the Nat's should changed the color of their jersey's? What a bore fest.

I couldn't agree more,,,I think WJFK should get Don's show when it's syndicated
AND add Big O and Dukes to the lineup,,,

The costs for that should be reasonable as I suspect Lavar probably makes as much as Oscar and Dukes did

Whatever they're paying Mike Wise is too much,,,he should pay them to be on the air

I was listening to Adam Carolla and Adam Curry talking about podcast economics. Curry has 400,000 listeners and asks them to donate. He said that he makes about $200K a year from donations.

Mike's listener base is 15,000 (on a good day). You do the math.

Thankfully for him, Mike doesn't have the bandwidth costs that Carolla and Curry has. And 15,000 is a shocking number to me.

That's what he claims for downloads. I really think he has about 1,500 active listeners.

As for bandwidth costs, I know when Corolla launched his "ACE Network" that CBS was picking up his bandwidth in exchange for a percentage of the ad revenues. Not sure how long that arrangement is going for, but I wouldn't be surprised if CBS didn't re-up. Based on what Corolla says, it sounds like the revenue from the ad sales is pretty bleak.

Rewind 10 years and describe this hideous happenstance, Jack Diamond still maintaining a hefty contract, still belching out the same old hackneyed show, waltzes down the hall to lord it over Mike and his pitiful excuse of a program. It's worse than that even,,,Mike spent 20 years bashing JD and telling stories about him from the days they worked together,,about what a horrible person JD was/is, how bad his show was , how he had no talent etc etc etc

Unfortunately,in the land of already thought of ideas and corpoate generica,,,
Jack Diamond is King

Talent? That costs too much

Sure sign of the apocalypse,,,,Jack Diamond is negotiating a syndication deal

My biggest knock on Mike is he was too stupid (or arrogant) to see all of this coming. He knew his deal with Don was coming to an end (even if it ended a year early). He had to have been around the industry long enough to know that 50-something DJs aren't usually in big demand.

What's he do? He starts a bar he can't afford to run. He buys a house he can't afford the mortgage payments on. He hooks up with a young chicky who is going to cost a lot of coin to keep happy. He buys/leases luxury vehicles and Hogs.

When he should be putting money away to retire in a low-cost community, he is spending like a drunken sailor. Now he's on the verge of losing his house and it's all Obama's fault!

Mike's cume over the years on D&M must have been in the millions. Where's the fucking money? What did he do with it all??

He has no one to blame but himself.

True, Mikes financial practices make Donnie Simpson look conservative. Is he really that stupid, probably. Any time he seemed to have some "extra" cash just laying around, there would be another trip to AC or perhaps a new luxury vehicle in the driveway. Maybe given his family history he figured he would have dropped dead by now. Quite frankly I'm surprised that some medical examiner isn't trying to pry a bottle out of his rigor mortised hand as he lay on a reinforced exam table. I guess that Billy Joel song makes sense to me now...

Mike is in 19th place, down from 17th place. I have no idea he is doing with 25-54 Men, but I know he used to brag about being fourth or fifth place on WJFK. Which just means three or four other stations were better places to buy ads aimed at men.

He’s not really doing too much better in that demo either. I am certain that if he causes the station to drop out of the top 20 over all, he’s out of there. This is starting to effect vrx’s bottom line, the show’s honeymoon period is over and it’s getting harder to sell spots in that daypart because of the downward trend in the ratings. It’s pathetic when the automated programming that you replaced got better ratings than your live, local show! Well at least he can still brag about the failcast…

The essence of this thread, as interpreted by "The Wire":

WashingTone-Locian: We’re good at this, YoungDCian. On this board, we’re as good as it gets.

YoungDCian: Natural Mike-bashing.

WTL: Fuck yes. Natural Mike-bashing.

YoungDCian: Tell me something, Wash. How exactly do you think it all ends?

WTL: What do you mean?

YoungDCian: A parade? A gold watch? A shining WashingTone-Locian-day moment, when you make a post sooooo sweet everybody gets together and says, “Aw, shit! He was right all along. Should’ve listened to the man.†The thread will not save you, Wash. It won’t make you whole, it won’t fill your ass up.

WTL: I dunno, a good thread—

YoungDCian: Ends. They all end. The mouses go click and it’s over. The next morning, it’s just you in your room with yourself.

WTL: Until the next post.

YoungDCian: Boooooy, you need something else outside of this here.

WTL: Like what? …dollhouse miniatures?

YoungDCian: Hey, hey, hey, a life. A life, Wash! You know what that is? It’s the shit that happens while you’re waiting for moments on Mike's show that never come!

It was up to 80+ pages a few months ago and then Cary (I guess) cut it in half by doubling the posts available on each page.

Total win. I love this thread.

I actually feel pretty sorry for the guy. The writing is on the wall at 105.9. If he is still working there by October, I'd be shocked.

Sounds like the "living room studio" will be in foreclosure before long. That should give Mike the excuse he needs to drop out of the failcast and move to a more affordable area (like Florida) where he can afford an apartment on his midday shift salary in some 80-something market.

As for Rob(b) I have no idea WTF that guy is going to do. I think Oscar and Buzz will land on their professional feet. The two marketing gurus Mike is using will probably go back to selling shoes or used cars or whatever they did before. The engineer will find work as an engineer. But Rob(b), geez!

Mike should just bite the bullet now, sell everything, and buy a motorhome. Then he can drive around broadcasting a pirate radio signal from the back of his Winnebago talking about which Walmart has the best bathrooms to shit in.

I don't know if Mike could even sell his house as a short-sale.

As for the Winnebago, he would need to be able to get a loan for that. Not sure too many people are into giving him money these days given his history. I guess he could use Carla's credit rating. But let's be honest, if it comes to that, Carla won't be taking that RV ride with him. She's a choice piece of ass who, frankly, cut a bad deal. I think she will cut her losses and end up with a guy who doesn't sit in his sweats in the living room pretending to have an international broadcasting empire.

I sure hope Mike reminds us soon that "he's not going anywhere". I hope he keeps fighting to regain his former radio stature. It is a big part of my day to logon to this FFU site and read the comical posts everyday. I wouldn't want these '74 pages and counting' to go anywhere.

By the way something, what do you care?

I'm not going to try to decipher the gibberish that you just posted, I do enjoy a good Peter North reference though. Honestly, what's got your panties in a knot? So I'm talking about "a show that's not even on the radio anymore", why should you care? Think about it, you are defending a show that is no longer on the air, combating a random person on the internet, who really couldn't care less what you post here. Who are you trying to impress here? What's your goal? Obviously you have something at stake here, what is it?

Boo-yah!

When a show hits the 20s in this market, it is officially competing with community radio, God Talk and ghost signals from Baltimore. In other words, Mike is doing slightly better than static in the ratings.

I guess Rob(b) never heard of day trips. You have cheap/free battlegrounds, parks and lakes/beaches all over this region. Maybe he can't afford gas.

The liver scan is a bit disconcerting, though I have known people who get high liver counts on a blood test but a scan comes up clean. At the very least, the guy needs to stop eating so much shit.

Yep, ads like the ones they purchased run about $75 per ad, per month. Let's assume they bought 10 ads on various lines, so that's around $1,000 down the toilet.

They haven't been "#1" in a while, I wonder what the failcast numbers would be without those ads? Is there any reason they chose not to correct the crooked picture at the bottom? At least there is some new absorbent material on the trains to soak up whatever urine or vomit may hit the walls this weekend.

Mike still hasn't figured out he isn't promoting a local radio show. I'm sure these ads help his ego, but they are a good waste of $1,000 that could have been spent better. Like, a mortgage payment.

Does Mike not understand the concept of gambling? That it's just as easy to lose as it is to win? I get the feeling he sits there looking dumbfounded every time he wins money, and then they take it away from him.

Plus, he's spends money on a hotel room every time he goes to AC.

Next time he goes to the liquor store, he should just buy $10,000 worth of scratch off lottery tickets and take them home. Then he can lose money in his own living room.

Heard fatboy on 105.9 this morning. They did a segment where they invited callers to insult them. Almost all of the insults were aimed at Mike. One of the "finalists" ripped into him about being a failed broadcaster, failed restaurant owner and being married to a gold-digger. Mike laughed on the air, but I have to wonder how much it really pissed him off behind the scenes. Apparently they were sending the guy a T-Shirt, so they have his name and address. If it was someone from this forum, I wouldn't recommend that you admit to it here, because the asshole has the information, I'm sure.

With his ratings going the wrong direction, I have to wonder how much pressure Mikey is under from Citadel to actually attend staff meetings, do show prep and attend live events promoting the show? Also, I wonder if the PD has busted his balls yet for hurrying home to do the failcast everyday instead of trying to make his show on 105.9 better?

He started a thing called "How dare you" on the p-cast. They take turns insulting each other then the respondent replies "How dare you!". Just a notch above the "Uh" game. Thats funny though. I bet his 105.9 rendition is short lived at least on live radio.

It wasn't a very long segment. I kind of had the impression after the first couple that Mike was trying to wrap it up. The barbs were pretty brutal and not that funny (well, they were to me, but probably not to Mike or his 10 remaining fans).

Yeah I think they went through like 4 callers before pulling the plug?

Ok, so we don't like Mike or his show, and we post about it here, so what? I didn't hear this morning's segment but I do listen occasionally, so what? Why seek out this thread and counter all MOM haters, what do YOU gain by doing this?
If you are a "fan" of the show, wouldn't it be best to ignore us, how did you even find this site? If you are a member of the MOS crew, as long as we spell O'Meara correctly, hey it's free promotion. Explain Yourself!

I would venture to guess pod is either someone with the show or closely associated with it. I mean, they can't even get their "fans" to show up for live events. What are the odds their "fans" would even take the time to post on a forum like this?

Edit: And here's another take on MOM. In their Metro Ad, they claim to have the #1 Comedy Podcast. As someone mention on here before, how long ago were they #1? When they launched the show? And for how long? A couple of days at most?

This begs the question, how many of those 15,000 downloads are based on the original download count from when the show was first on the air? You notice they don't seem to have an issue with download costs anymore.

I would have to guess that their downloads are nowhere near that anymore. But they keep trotting out that number, don't they?

Good point, other than a handful of "facebookers" I really don't see much evidence of a listenership for O'Meara. So we are dealing with one of the gang here. Let's see, who has the most free time on his stubby, swollen hands...

I'm glad you are as amused by this thread as we are. Would you like to attend one of our weekly meetings?

It's always assumed that we don't know him...

I knew it! But seriously Rob(b), you are welcome at the meetings any time. Just stop by 10800 Main Street Thursdays around 6:30. If you do drop by, we'll all head down to Manassas and go to Deli Depot so we can all reminisce, don't worry I'm buying! Actually fellas, let's all bring some lightly used clothing for Rob(b) and his family, also any nonperishable food items would be appreciated too (so Rob(b) can have a snack for the ride home).

That's pretty much the case outside of FFXU, so why wouldn't that also be the case here?
