Don's new show is funny. If you missed him, you will love the new show and nevere listen to TMOS again. You can download Don's shows now - but they are working on the Itunes feed too - that'll be up shortly.

TMOS should take a listen to what funny is - listen to Don G folks.

Mike, you keep mentioning this - so why don't you do something about it? Robb's audio vault isn't usually funny. Time after time you mention how it wasn't funny, so why don't you do saomething about it? Also, would you guys quit interrupting Buzz's news? Take a listen, you interrupt him all the time.

They aren't making money. It is to feed their egos and make their dumbass wives think they still have jobs.

Here is the real question, when are Marsha, Kerri, and Carla, going to put their feet down and demand a monthly income?

Are these women so ugly, battered, or insecure that they can't stand up to their husbands and ask for a simple stable montly income check?

At what point do these women say "Enough is enough" and demand that their husbands start making ends meet or go get a job in the real world?

I wouldn't be surprised if the podcasting equipment ends up on eBay. You better believe that Mike will want to come home from work to an empty house and nap after having to get up at O'Dark:30 to do his real show... and Carla will want her living room back to normal. There's no doubt he'll pull the plug on the poopcast. It's not a moneymaking operation and he's not going to have the time to work on it. Plus, the last thing he'll want to deal with is an annoying unemployed Robb Spewak hanging around the house and bugging the shit out of him when he gets off work. Now's the time for Robb to grow up, be a big boy & look for a jobb. Mike needs to put his foot down on Robb and tell him to move on with his life... the 'Don and Mike' days are long over with. Robb will be the odd man out when this all shakes down, because he's stuck living in the past. I think Mike would be doing Robb a big favor by ending the podcast... it would force him to get out of his comfort zone of clinging to O'Meara. Spewak needs change right now, and a goddamn paycheck.

My guess is it will turn into a promo for his morning show, then he'll say he's "just too busy" like how why he really closed the restaurant because it took too much of his time and not because of the tens of thousands of dollars in ABC violations and it will die out within a month or so.

I definitely don't hold it against him that he got a new gig and honestly wish him the best of luck. Being part of an actual "team" might work better for him. I might have a problem with the way his podcast will probably go out and he'll leave the others hanging, but that's life. He wasn't forcing anyone to keep going with that show.

Sounds that way:

"I've always admired Mike from afar," McEwen said. "I think this is like Led Zep and the Stones coming together for an album."

Fact remains, he got a job in a decent sized market, proving your predictions wrong. How long he can hold it is another question. I am sure Mike has seen 5 am numerous times recently. just not on the waking up side of it.

I will admit that he got a better gig (market-wise) than I would have imagined. That said, I guarantee you he is being paid shit compared to what he was pulling down with Don. Also, I agree on the 5am thing. Citadel is in DC near the border with Maryland. Even at that time of the morning, he will probably need to plan for an hour drive from Manassas. And, let's remember, there were days on D&M when Mike couldn't make a 2:30pm start time. I would think by the end of July there will be some friction starting to bubble to the surface between the two DJs.

If by being part of an actual "team" you mean having someone to do all the work and preparation while Mike rolls into the studio hungover at 4:59, then yes, it might work better for him.

Rob(b): Guess what, hun! Got some great news! Mike got a gig with Citadel!

Carrie: Oh, Thank God! I didn't want to say anything, but I thought you had lost your fucking mind with that podcast thing! I was like, "How fucking poor are we going to have to get before this guy realizes this is ruining our lives???" So, when do you and Mike start?

Rob(b): Well, uh, you see...

Carrie: Oh, I get it. They aren't going to have you on the air. That's okay. We made it on a producer's salary before. So, what are you going to make? $40K? $50K?

Rob(b): Well, now....

Carrie: Oooh. Yeah. I was afraid this might happen. Do they want you to screen the calls? Work the board? What's that make? $25K? $35K? It will be incredibly tight, but if I continue to work double shifts at my retail jobs, we should be able to make ends meet.

Rob(b): Not exactly. You see, they just hired Mike. They didn't hire me or Buzz. But on the good side of things, Mike is going to up my percentage of the podcast from 12.5% to 25%!!!!

Even on auto-pilot, 105.9 The Edge has higher ratings than WJFK! When is CBS going to wise up and fire The Junkies and Lavar and Dukes? I mean, FIRE THEM. I don't care if the are #3 or #4 in some key demo. That means there are two other stations advertisers are going to go to first, even for that demo.

Time to GO!

What about Mike Wise? Or do middays really mean jack shit? I liked Kushner when he was on after Lavar and Dukes, but haven't listened to him with Mike Wise.

Middays don't mean jack shit. But I'm not a big Mike Wise fan. I think he is a poor man's Tony Kornheiser, who I don't like, either. I think middays would be much better if WJFK teamed Holden Kushner with Frank Hanrahan.

I don't think anything happens to the Junkies unless boy-wonder JFK PD Chis Kinard hits the road.

He must have had alot of say in hiring Mike Wise and Chad and LaVar. As bad as the Junkies are, C&LV have become unlistenable, LaVar's ramblings are painful and Chad's "idiotic topic of the day" (my favorite: Skins should return to RFK...) are forced and he get downright annoying by repeating the topic over and over. Enough already!

Does CK actually "direct" anything @ JFK? Does anyone "produce" any content at that station? The Junkies have been sleepwalking through 'the sports page', 'showbiz news', and 'whore or bore' for years with no change. Yaawwwwn...

The prospect of O'Meara being bright-eyed and bushy-tailed @ 5am is mind-boggling. I see an uncomfortable lack of chemistry on 105.9 starting tomorrow @ 5am.

Mike Wise is a stammering mess. Hes currently on vacation and his replacement.. B.Mitchell is excellent.

Dukes has talent. Good comedic timing etc, but hes a neurotic self loathing dork. And we all know that Lavar bumbles and repeats his statements over and over to fill air time.

Good for Mike, but I'll never listen. 5am... fuggetaboutit.

I honestly want to see Mike do well with his new gig. It seems this deal had been on the table for a while, both parties just needed to meet in the middle (insert joke about mike’s belt here). Mountains of debt and a severely deflated ego finally brought O’Meara down to earth and he grabbed the lifeline that had been dangling in front of his face. It’s a wonderful opportunity in a great market, oh wait, haven’t we been here before? Hopefully Mike can forgo his self-entitled attitude and accept his long overdue comeuppance this time.

Yes, the am drive shift at a station far north of his home will be quite a haul. A little discipline combined with a daily routine might just whip the fat man into shape. He has been looking for an excuse to wash his hands of that vinyl clad mistake in Manassas for a long time now, perhaps he can downsize to a nice condo. He’ll be doing whatever it takes to get there on time. I guarantee his contract has a probationary period, so he will have to adhere to all of the terms and must show up on time (and sober).

Yes, his 150k salary will keep him on a short leash. He’ll be able to keep the lights on and make the minimum payments. Don’t forget the child support! No more Porsches though, perhaps he can try to squeeze his portly ass into a C-class. I wouldn’t suggest wearing those short shorts, the vinyl seats burn like a son of a bitch on a hot day.

Yes, being second banana again will tone down his personality and make his patter slightly more obsequious. This is exactly what Mike needs to be an acceptable radio personality. He needs to be used as the tool he is, Don knew this and through thick and thin he always let Mike know whose dick was bigger. McEwen needs to step up to the plate and show O’Meara who's the boss. It’s the last call for both of these guys, so they need to make this work!

While it’s true, TMOS sucks, O’Meara himself has provided a slowly unfolding, soap opera like experience that has had its entertaining moments. Here’s to the future!

p.s. Welcome back WTL!

It's good to be back.

As for Mike, let me be the first to say that when he gets stuck, it will be good to hear Steely Dan's "Reelin' in the Years" for the 118,000 time instead of anything from that God forsaken "Audio Vault" of Rob(b)s.

This sounds promising....

O'Meara: Big Star To Save Citadel DC - 7/6 - DCRTV hears from some sources on Jenifer Street that Mike O'Meara paid a pre-debut visit Tuesday to the studios of 105.9 The Edge, WVRX, where he'll be starting tomorrow morning with Kirk McEwen. And a fly on the wall tells us that it didn't go all that well. Mike seemed to have a "big head" and seemed to think that he's the "savior" of not only the classic rock station but also Citadel's entire Washington radio cluster, including WMAL and WRQX, too. "He came across like he's the big star that is going to save the company," we're told.

...And the odds of O'Meara having a no-cut contract along the lines of Don? Not so good, I imagine.

Is he really this delusional? He wasn't even the "big radio DJ star" he thought he would be on JFK, at least after a month or so when it became obvious his show was terrible and wasn't going to get better.

Based on the context of what DCRTV posted, I get the impression he said this shit during a management meeting. If that's the case, he truly is fucked. Once you set that tone, people will begin working against you.

I listened this morning to the Kirk and Mike show - they apparently were down at the Green Turtle at the Verizon Center live. I have always like Kirk McEwen from 98 Rock and have to say that they have potential as a comedy morning team. Kirk is exactly the lead person that Mike needs to play off of. However, they received several calls from listeners to stop talking and get back to playing more music. Naturally, Mike made fun of those listeners and laughed at their expense.

I'm sure they will turn away many listeners that tune in for the Classic Rock but could generate a new following. The asshole that Mike O'Meara portrays on the air is exactly how he is in person. We'll see if their ratings slide back in the next few months and lose out to the Junkies.

This guy is way too skinny to be Mike in ten years. Mike did mock himself this morning about being pissed off seeing dedicated joggers running in this heat. He said that he started getting fat at 14 and was turning over a new leaf concerning exercise. He is so full of shit.

I haven’t really posted much because I’m still feeling out the new show…
It seems that unfortunately, not much has changed:

Mike’s Ego: Still bloated

His Financial State: Still Broke

Attitude: Still miserable, and getting worse due to the commute.

Some things need to change if O’Meara wants to keep his gig. Mike: just let Kirk drive, and jump in every now and then with an impression or something. No one wants to hear you blather on about how awesome you are.

p.s. I think it’s hilarious that Mike has to tote the instant replay machines (that he stole from JFK) to and from work every day. Is it a good sign that he couldn’t get Suleman to cough up the 2 grand for a new one? He clings to those bitches like a life preserver. When in doubt, play a fart sound.

Nope. It's not a good sign. I think Mike is on a very short leash. I think that is part of his over-reaching. He is covered in the stench of failure and he is trying desperately to get in there and get his hooks deep into the show before management realizes this isn't going to work. Mike adds nothing to the program except another check stub the station has to issue on payday.

So Mike shows up a few minutes before 5am at 105.9 and blows at at 9am. That's four hours of work. That's not a full day of work. Even DJs are expected to put in 6 to 8 hours of work before and after a show. How long before management gets on him for that?

I was wondering about that. I know in TV (trying to compare a like industry) those newscasters work at least 6-8 hours. Is it common in radio not to have to put in any other time but actual "on air"? Are you sure of your statement.

I am not in any way, shape, or form and industry insider, but I do remember from the old D&M Show that they would joke about how Don came in hours before the show for prep and Mike would just blow in at 5 till. I would think doing pre- and post-show prep is the norm and that in general DJs don't just go right on the air and wing it all the time. Sure, discussion may carry on a certain subject or something but if you're trying to fill 4 hours a day you sure as hell don't want to run out of things to talk about.

Yes. I am sure. Besides prep, they cut spots, work on schedules for remotes, get reviews from Program Managers, etc. You don't just show up and leave.

Quite true!

Even if Mike is doing his “prep” at home there is still plenty of shit to do around the office. The spots are kind of lean in this slot, I assume there are sales meetings, meetings with clients, cutting spots for the week, etc. Not to mention he has not officially moved in to his office (the closet that the three of them will be sharing) yet. Station meetings, meetings with the PD, etc. There’s a lot to be done…

I believe that Mike has informed the management of a transitional period, 2 weeks perhaps. This is when Mike feels out the new job to see if he will be sticking around, all while stringing along his failcast buddies. When O’Meara feels confident in his new surroundings, much like a hermit crab he will creep out of one shell and scurry quickly into another. That is to say he will cut bait and give the morning show his full attention, leaving the discarded podcast and its remaining inhabitants on the ocean floor.

By full attention, I do mean showing up 5 minutes before airtime, leaning back in his chair with his feet on the counter and coasting through his 4 hour shift. Then sitting around a conference table for an hour or two with a glazed over stare while everyone prattles on about the show or whatever, all while thinking about his next fast food orgy/beer.

I do remember Don saying that "he drove home early from the beach", meaning alone, in order to prepare for the show, on many occasions.

It's bad form for Mike to blow shit off at the station. He's on probation right now just like any other employee. I'm sure during station meetings, someone has already said, "Where's O'Meara?" It takes a long time to get to a point where you can roll in and roll out like O'Meara was doing at WJFK. This is a whole new ballgame.

Mike seems to forget that this is the 'KIRK and Mike Show' not 'The Mike O'Meara Show'. I wonder how long his contract runs with 105.9?

I'll venture to say that it won't be renewed when it runs out.

This is absolutely true. I expected more humility from Mike this time around. Not that he'd be "the sidekick" again, but more of a partnership as equals. As it is there's a definite vibe of "I'm the great radio legend, Kirk. Watch and learn and shut up."

I don't have anything personal against the man, I want him to succeed, I want to like his show, I'm a longtime fan from back in the day and grew up with him after all. But for that to happen I have to like him, and I quite honestly don't right now. We make fun of his weight and drinking and divorces and money problems and many, many failures but all of that would literally disappear if he were just LIKABLE in any way at all. At least for me.

Funny thing is, Kirk I actually do like. I used to listen to him on 98 Rock when I could get a decent signal and I remember he was a pretty cool, entertaining guy.

Indeed!

However everything that O’Meara is currently doing is bad form.

Showing up late/leaving early:
Covered

Complaining about his new paycheck:
Sorry it’s not the wheelbarrow of cash you are used to but it’s still more than the rest of the airstaff makes. Most of the DJs at vrx have a second job!

Acting like king shit:
Don’t think for a second that they couldn’t replace you with any number of unemployed DJs that are within a stone’s throw of the beltway. They wanted your name to attract some attention, now they have to put up with what comes along with it.

Anyone care to add to the list?

Not giving a fuck? I mean, this guy doesn't get it. I've seen people get fired after a week or two because of a shitty attitude, no matter how good they were at their job. There is probably a 90-day probation period. Mike has already shit on Kirk and Shamrock....and obviously the Citadel folks like Shamrock because he has been their so long. All you need is a guy like that to say, "Fuck this" and Mike is toast.

I wonder if Mike would have landed this new on-air gig if not for the podcast? OR did he get this new show DESPITE the podcast, with all his constant bitching about the "crooked radio industry"?

(side note: Mike could have turned his anger over being fired from WJFK into funny stuff on the podcast, but instead, he just filled hours with: "And you know what?...okay, look...Incidentially, radio just sucks ass now, you know? It's a ruthless, heartless business and its not fair, you know? Wah.")

I imagine that a lot of us here would be a bit more welcoming of Mike back on the airwaves if not for having to put up with his sad podcast for so many months now.

I listened to a few minutes of the Kirk & Mike show the other day, and couldn't believe what I was hearing.

Mike: When will my replay machine be hooked up?

Shamrock: Some time next week.

Mike: No. It has to be by Monday.

Shamrock: Uh, ok.

Mike: I gave you my ex-producer's phone number, right? Give her a call. She can tell you the "ABC's of me." I'm really a nice guy to work with -- but I've also been called "volcanic."

What the hell? So this Shamrock dude is supposed to call BA so he can learn all about pleasing the fat volcano? Mount Lardass?

I bet Shamrock already hates Mike.

Hour number 6 of our bonus show series brings yet another chapter in the life of Oscar and his C girlfriend. We also discuss all things taboo. Happy weekend everybody!

Please note that we are well aware of the pricing issue with the iTunes store and working with our contacts to get it resolved. The price for this show on iTunes should be $1.99.. You’re welcome to purchase this show for $1.29 from

It blows my mind to think that there are functional human beings that will pay $1.99 for this dreck…

Here’s and idea to bring in more revenue. Sell your list of mentally retarded patrons to local businesses! I’m sure that there are establishments out there that would love to get their hands on these leads.
