It looks like you're wrong about nearly everything these days. First, you're not going to check to see how many times I've posted because you're "not my monkey". Then you decide to check after all. So that means you ARE my monkey now? And who's obsessed with whom?

Then you're too drunk to find the right "quote" button.

And you seem to be laboring under the delusion that I'm a Latino. Your detective work is really awful. You can toss out all the racist insults you want but you don't know what I am so you look like an idiot.

Please, quit while you're ahead. Even Jhops is starting to feel sorry for you.

Interesting that you feel the need to kind-a sort-a deny being a Hispper, as if it's something to be ashamed of. Anyhoo, always nice to hear from you, and it's wonderful to see that you've started posting again, and so brilliantly, but shouldn't you be working? Those lawns aren't going to mow themselves.

Nice to hear that I'm ahead, though.

Wow... Mike talking about how hard it was for him to walk with his family over the weekend. Lots of derision, because he can't keep up with his older sister and her husband. It takes him 18 minutes to walk one mile.

He felt like he'd been in boot camp because they made him WALK!

When's the last time he took responsibility for his own poor health?

A long time ago I wrote a post about all the depressing things you heard on TMOS. This lack of fitness is disconcerting. I don't know if 18 minutes is terrible, but I know that it isn't Boot Camp.

And he "used" to walk an 18 minute mile every morning, very past tense, so that ship has probably sailed (and then grounded on a sandbar). All of this from the same LFF who is too obese to have the two surgeries he currently requires.

18 minutes is a fast pace for an out of shape 55 year old. 3 miles an hour is reasonable. Wasn't he ''Powerwalking'' 2 miles a day?

18 minutes isn't terrible but Mike bragged about it as if he'd reached some significant goal. I get the impression that those one-mile "power walks" are a rarity these days. But even when he was active he was only burning a couple hundred calories at best. For a man who's at least 200 pounds overweight he needs to get serious or just give up.

But I think he gave up a long time ago.

Imagine the sloth it takes to not have a job, but still not spend 18 minutes walking first thing in the morning. Must be liberating.

18 minutes is pretty good but far from exhausting. 18 is very average really. But it's just one mile. Doing like 4 in an hour would be beneficial. Get the heart rate up. Keel him over, you get it...

When he went over the head of the hospital dietician and got a pair of pork chops.

When he started getting free wine.

In honor of Mama O'Meara's birthday, a little look back at the best of Open Mike on the topic of raising Mike, etc.:

Sister Cathy: He was the younger child and he played on my mother's sympathies a lot. My mother to this day will admit she somewhat coddled him. My role was to toughen him up a bit.

Mrs. O'Meara: After Cathy graduated from college, she tried to tell me how to raise Mike.

Mike: I have spent most of my life trying to please people, starting with my family. Always trying to impress -- trying too hard. ... I want to talk about my accomplishments in radio. It's constant with me. I can talk to my 93-year-old mom in the assisted living facility in Boston, and it's still, 'Mommy, Mommy, look what I did.' ... Especially when you are the baby in your family, you can feel inferior. It's a feeling I've always had with my cousins and my sister up in Maine. As the youngest, it can be hard to get the respect that you so desperately want.

Sister Cathy: When he was in his 20s and 30s, he was sort of dismissive toward family. He would get impatient with us. At one point, he said, 'My fans don't treat me this way.' He felt we should grant him unconditional respect because he was such a star.

Mrs. O'Meara: I know nothing about podcasts, so I don't even know what Mike is doing. I always hoped Mike would grow up to be Walter Cronkite, but that didn't materialize.

"All I can say is Mike had me in tears when he called his mother. It got a little dusty in here. I wish to God to have that kind of relationship with my Moms, and that she lives such a healthy productive lengthy life. It also reminds me I better call her. Not my Mike's Mom, but mine. Call yours today TMOS nation. Or say a prayer of thanksgiving if she has passed."

The tone with which he described his brother-in-law (who is probably in his early to mid-60's) as "unbelievably fit" made it sound like an invective.

Mike's fake choking up on the show, and then apologizing for it, which he does to spotlight it.

10 seconds later it is gone.

They had an opportunity to reengineer the show when Buzz left. They had an opportunity to reengineer the show when they extended it. They had the opportunity to think critically about features that would make the show better.

You see the results.

I enjoyed how choked up LFF got. His mother didn't care, misunderstood Oscar's question and tried to say goodbye twice, once in the middle of one of LFF's sad good-bye attempts.

Then the old lady mentioned his sister's half hour phone call. Guess some of the family calls in for more than a podcast bit.

How about Fatty complaining about a group of older relatives being in better shape? Only Robb and Mike would see activity as negative. Mike spit out the fact that his brother-in-law is in shape like a character flaw.

But maybe my favorite moment was Mike describing his call to Mom to his sister; " we're talking to her, wishing her happy birthday then, bam--dead!"

Cathy catches her breath and says, "you don't mean... dead?" And Mike is so slow Oscar had to scold him for how badly he explained the call.

I had a similar thought when listening yesterday. They've stopped mid-show because Mike's video feed was bad before, so he couldn't react to Rob correctly, why not stop to make sure Mom is OK if he was really worried? Instead he saw the opportunity for two segments of trying to call her, then telling Sis she was dead. My favorite part other than Oscar being the only one who realized what message Mike was giving his sister was when she asked, " And you want me to fix this?" Of course the answer was YES.

He had never heard of TMOS or D&M.

The next day, he said that "was one of the worst piece of shit shows he had ever heard and has no redeeming value at all." and he only made it halfway through before stopping and deleting forever.

I listened to yesterday's show and had a similar take.

Clearly that was so the LFF could stretch this inane bullshit.

The video thing boggles the mind. I'd understand if they had 20k daily viewers. FDB is so out of it that he *actually* wants to look at the LPS? Dear lord...Is the LPS just rocking back and forth with laughter. The LFF should just close his eyes and picture that. Same effect.

Mike's mother clearly knew his call was a shill and didn't appreciate it.
The famous orator then scared his sister half to death by being unable to put words together properly.
Unbelievable.

I don't listen now, and if I didn't know better I'd think you guys are making this stuff up.
Thing is, you CAN'T make this stuff up.

You know how when you know you're going to see something terrible on tv, you cringe and look away?
I'm starting to get that feeling.

That's when I really started hating the show -- Don was off for a while, so I needed something to listen to, so I picked up TMOS in the meantime.

When I heard "because they get it", I couldn't believe that was the best they could come up with. Just sad.

Do you know what the best thing is about TMOS?

It's that you can miss a show or 2 or 20, and you really aren't missing anything. I mean, you're not going to be out of the loop, or miss the development of an ongoing story, or miss an update from a previous episode or anything like that. Each show stands alone, and each has no point or focus or theme whatsoever. So you can download an episode, and hear EXACTLY 1:19:30 of inane chatter and you feel like you haven't missed a thing, because you haven't.

LFF on the entitled, and slice of the Failcast. If you get bored, count the Sure, Right, and Exactly occurrences.

LFF: "But, there is a word I use continuously that's uhh, entitled, where it just seems like, whu- what, what is forgotten are dealing with people at uhh, say restaurants. Dealing with people at stores, dealing with peo- and it becomes kind of this 'MEHHH' and I always can tell. And this is my tell, when we go out with the little guy to the diner for breakfast or something like- you've got the old people, men and women, that might come over and give my little guy, who is the cutest little guy in the world, a smile"

BLOBB: "SURE."

LFF: "And I love that. That to me is grandparent type interaction and I have no problem- And then you have the people that come in and have the 'MEHHH' and they don't speak at their meal, they don't look at anybody else, and they have that kind of vibe about them.

BLOBB: "RIGHT."

LFF: "And you get these people occasionally complaining about things that don't matter. Uhh, don't matter at all. And uhh, you know we call - some might call first worl- world problems."

BLOBB: "RIGHT."

LFF: "The one thing that got me when I was just so put off, so. Down here, we have a vibrant recycling community, I am recycling more-"

BLOBB: "Are you a part of it?"

LFF: "than I ever have. Absolutely."

BLOBB: "And it's fun, right?"

LFF: "Recycling is huge in south Florida, because it's a very uhh nature-"

LOLSCAR: "Everglades."

LFF: "oriented area down here."

BLOBB: "SURE. Mangroves."

LFF: "Water, that type, all- bird sanctuaries, all that garbage, that's what people talk-"

LOLSCAR: "Fish farms."

LFF: "I don't know about fish farms Oscar, I don't think fish farms falls into that category."

BLOBB: "I don't know Mike, we can move from there to puppy mills, I mean you've got so much wild life down there."

LFF: "Everybody has, uhh probably in every neighborhood in America has the little recycling bin, right?"

BLOBB: "SURE"

LFF: "Where you put your bottles and your paper products and your plastics.."

BLOBB: "BLUE... right?"

LFF: "And it's blue and it's a little bin. "

BLOBB: "Right."

LFF: "So down here, the powers that be, for the sanitation department down here, uhh, the city, or the uhh county, I'm not sure who did it. Uhh, they decide they are going to provide, uhh, each homeowner with a 66 gallon stand up trash barrel for recycling."

BLOBB: "That's fantastic."

LOLSCAR: "Big win."

LFF: "And they, they come out-"

BLOBB: "I had to buy mine."

LFF: "And everyone gets one, everyone gets one for free."

[STUPID SCHTICK]

LFF: "Uhh, but anyways, so they've got these giant blue, recycling on the side, with the big uhh black flap that goes over the top and I'm like 'Man, how cool is that, this is really going to enco-' well, on the news that night, all hell broke loose."

BLOBB:"WHY?"

LFF [whiny voice]: "'It's too big' and you had the people, 4 or 5 them whining on the local news about the fact that 'It's too big. My little barrel's too big. I don't- I don't think I could fill that barrel up in a month.'"

LOLSCAR: "Oh.... my.... god..."

LFF: "And I'm like, blow it out your wrinkled ass grandpa. And I just said, this is what people bitch about when- you know, you've got guys that are hanging off of trucks that brought these things out to-"

BLOBB: "RIGHT!"

LFF: "people's house, you know SH- pooped (I almost said the s-word) SHI[BLEEP] them out in the yards of these people for free, we didn't have to pay for it, and now people are complaining because they don't have- how many square feet would that take up? I mean you find a place for it."

BLOBB: "Well it's tall."

LFF: "I know it's tight quarters down here."

BLOBB: "It's taller rather than wide-"

LFF: "It's tall, it's an extra trash barrel!"

BLOBB: "So you know what, it takes up less room than a proper recycle bin."

LFF: "Exactly."

BLOBB: "The kind you would go to home depot or lowes"

LFF: "Right"

BLOBB: "And pay forty bucks for"

LFF: "Exactly"

BLOBB: "that I have and they take up all kinds of room, this takes up less room."

LFF: "Exactly. And I'm sitting uhh, totally irrational, watching the news, and saying 'I hate them. I hate, I hate them.'""

LOLSCAR: "'Cause if you really look at that report, they're screaming about them, because A. they don't believe they'll be around to benefit from what is the reversal of global warming."

[CHUCKLES]

LOLSCAR: "Or B, they're just bragging they don't consume nearly as much, uhh, goods as we do. So they don't have recyclables."

BLOBB: "Or perhaps C, Mike. Maybe they're uptight because they see that bin as the size of a human body. And they don't want to end up on the curb one Tuesday or Thursday."

The best example today, he just blurts out "BLUE" talking about the bin, and then a hesitant "right?" Testing the waters to see which side he should take to agree with LFF, even about the color of a trash can.

This was just excruciating. I have no idea what's LFF's point was, as he was already veering from old people paying attention to Hey, Arnold! (old football head) to recycle bins when Headdd got serious about interrupting and derailing him constantly.

Blobb, if you'd had your friend listen to that segment, not even attempt an entire episode, you would have lost yourself a friend.

For any that listen to both BOAD and TMOS, I thought it was interesting that the George Mason University professor that Rob(b) received an invite from to talk to his radio class was the very same Roger Smith that Chad Dukes complained about on the Big O & Dukes show Tuesday (about an email he got from him) and that Chad has complained about many times years ago as never inviting him to talk to one of his classes at GMU. That was even though Chad believes he's the most successful broadcaster that ever came out of GMU. Roger Smith also failed Chad in 1 of 2 classes he took from him and Chad thinks it's because he didn't like the fact that Chad enjoys Guy Talk radio like Don & Mike instead of liking top 40 or whatever radio Roger Smith likes. Also interesting that Oscar didn't mention Chad's rant to Rob and Mike on yesterday's show when Rob was talking about his experience with Roger's class at GMU.

Neither Mike nor his sister were bright enough to think of calling the office of the place their suddenly incommunicado mom lived to ask that someone go check on her. Mike could only think of asking sis to drive 30 mins out there, and sis said just to wait 30 minutes for her phone to recharge, if that were the problem. You're on your own, mom. Hope you have a clapper linked to a medic alert.

True enough. I guess I wasn't listening closely enough to Headdd's story to realize it was the same guy. And good timeline with BOAD recorded the night before

This was super interesting. I actually ran the BOAD back to confirm it was the same guy. He even gave Robb a gift bag.

According to Chad, he preferred boss jocks. I could see stubborn Chad as one of those guys who failed a class just because they wouldn't follow directions, though. Who knows what went down.

Still hilarious that Robb got VIP treatment, while Chad was dissed. The guy told Chad that he wanted to to speak at a class that doesn't happen again u til 2017.

"does that for a living" is a stretch, though. You're not really making a living when you have to ask your mother to borrow money to buy an iPad when you're like 40 years old. That's more like what a 14 year old would do.

Probably would have a better chance of getting paid back from the kid, too.
