I tried I really did. I had to drive to Ashburn this afternoon and I tuned into Mike Os show. I would listen for for or five min. and then instinctively move to change the channel. It is worse than banter it is banter about unfunny junk. They got drunk this weekend at that lame party...

hahaha what a belly laugh.

Beth Anne got mad about something

hahaha

They have a funny bit about the actor that went off on set last year - sorry Im not waiting 5 commercial breaks for your precious bit. Christ put your back into it guys its now or never. Do a funny bit or two every segment. This ad lib jive is total crap.

I agree! I don't know how they expected anyone to have any fun at all. This picture sums it up...

Funny that all anyone sees when they look at the pictures are "ugly, fat" losers.

So I was driving down I-66 this evening and picked up Howard Stern off of someone's satellite transmitter. The difference between Stern and O'Meara is like having a piece of bacon-wrapped filet mignon versus a bacon-wrapped piece of shit (and I'm not talking about art, Alias).

This morning on 98 Rock out of Baltimore they organized a "Take a Dump on Kellogg's" event in protest of Kellogg's dropping Michael Phelps' endorsement deal. They had listeners come out and crap on Kellogg's cereal that was put in port-a-potties.

I remember when Don & Mike used to do things like this. Things that were funny that might actually offend someone. Do you see Mike doing anything remotely like that now? NFW.

Wow...that was respectful, mature and concise. THAT I can respect and understand. It is the personal BS that I find offensive. Thanks for being an adult among children.
I find TMOS slow and witless at times, but I have also enjoyed parts. I don't find Robb as annoying as some people, but I have noticed that often times when Mike actually gets a groove at all, Robb tends to spurt out some non-sequitar that ruins the momentum and often times runs Mike completely off track. Don was good at telling "Head" to shut up and leave the mic when he started on a tangent. My 2 cents (for what it is worth).

Wait. THAT is "mature and concise" yet you have a huge problem with this...?

That doesn't mean it shouldn't be canceled or that
the rest of us can't point out its suckiness. And
before you say, "If you don't like it, don't

come to this Forum.

I have to say that I am offended at your offense.

That kind of event takes imagination, planning and guts - all in short supply with Mike-O and Company. They are just 'natural' comedians so why bother. Also, its hard to follow through on creative planning with a hangover every day...

Mike's ratings suck again...

12+: 1) WTOP [1st in both drivetimes], 2) WAMU, 3) WHUR [Harvey 3rd], 4) WASH [Lori Loo 9th], 5) WIHT [Kane 5th], 6) WETA-FM, 7) WWDC [Elliot 11th], 8) WMMJ [Joyner 4th], 9) WRQX [Diamond 6th], 10) WPRS, 11) WMZQ and WBIG, 13) WGTS, 14) WKYS [Parr 16th] and WPGC [Simpson 14th], 16) WMAL [G&A 12th, Rush 7th], 17) WLZL, 18) WJZW [Imus 19th], 19) WTEM, 20) WTGB, 21) WBQB and WJFK [Junks 18th, O'Meara 22nd], 23) WAVA, 24) WPFW.

It seems like every other station that is down around Mike's ratings either has one person on the air or is running a satellite feed. How much longer can this go on?

Rant - 2/10 - Ring ring. "Hello." "Don?" "Yeah." "Michael, here." "Hey, Michael, how's it going?" "Not too good. You read DCRTV. You know." "Yeah, I do." "Look, man, we need you back. This time mornings. Back with Mike." "Hmmm." "Come on, Don. Get your ass out of OC. Save our station. Please. We'll do a big promo campaign and give you whatever you want." "Let me think about it. Comparing the Don and Mike show to the Mike O'Meara show reminds me of a TV viewing situation about 25 years ago. For those old enough to remember - CBS had a major TV hit with a show called MASH. It ran from 1972 to 1983 and was an Emmy Award winning series with high Nielson ratings. It was formally retired on 2/28/83 with a 2 hour special and still is popular on TV Land.

Somehow CBS had the idea to run a spin-off of the original show and named it After MASH. It featured the 'sidekick' characters as they moved on in life after the MASH show. It never succeeded in recapturing the feeling of its parent series and was cancelled after thirty broadcast episodes.

I view the After Don show (Mike O'Meara show) as a spin-off show that has lost its controversial edge. It seems like a waste of energy to try to compare the two.

That's funny, because about 2 weeks ago, Stern discovered Facebook and it's been a humorous regular subject on his show since then. I wonder if that's where Mike is getting this idea from.

BTW, I turned this show on for the first time last night- is that Robbay with that ridiculously phony laugh all the time??

He is nowhere close to being as young as I am, and he's probably going to die soon. Look how frail and old he is! He's totally dying. Because he's old. Well i've been a D&M fan almost since the beginning, i've lived in the DC area for 41 years. Here is my take on the Mike O show.

1) Beth Anne, the worse the show could have done. She is lousy on the air, lousy getting guests, and did i say lousy getting guests? The guests of the show have ranged from pet psychics to every lame guest available. I once called in and said "hey i can scratch my earlobe, can Beth sign me up for a segment?"

2) Rob. Rob has to fill in as the 2nd man now, giggling between sentences, and intruding his own humor when mike has a pause or 2. This is ok if you are experienced at doing it (when mike was with Don), but Rob is just a very bad filler man at this point, he hasn't learned when NOT to shut up, so much of the conversation tends to be too much Rob. Thankfully when the show first started Mike had like 4 people trying to fill air time (mike, rob, buzz, and beth anne), thank god they are only down to 2 now. Buzz has retreated back to his normal chair position, beth anne is only called in once in a while. But still, too much forced 'ROB' gap filling.

So, those are the 2 main problems with the show. number 1 is the main problem, a bad producer who cannot get guests and has to fill the time up with horrible alternatives. Beth anne is horrible.

The Junkies are still an ok show, they have gone downhill a bit, they ARE getting older and losing their edge, but still not too bad. Thankfully we have a new guy in town, Chad Dukes, who with Oscar takes up the midday spot. Chad is a quick, funny and bright new face in the lineup, and they quickly became my number 1 show of the station. "SOUND THE FEASTING HORN!". I don't think Chad realizes how good he is, or how good he will be, he seems to think hes the low rung of the totem pole, while in actuality hes the new breath of air in a stagnant station.

My prediction is.. Mike's show will not last much longer, its dribble, boring, no guests, and Mike himself can only carry it so far with the lackluster talent supporting him (rob and beth anne). The Junkies have a few more years left in them, but not much. They are older, repeatative, but at least they still get good guests once in a while.

Big O and Dukes will be around long after them 2 are gone, they are new and fresh and while they think they aren't really good, they are better than the other 2 shows at this point.

I've noticed something about the commercials on MOM. Mike calls for a "hard break." That means network spots.

If you listen to the commercial breaks - which, by the way, are better than the show - you will hear a series of spots for national chains like McDonalds. Then, you will hear three or four promos for WJFK shows, plus a couple of PSAs, then you will hear two more national chain commercials and then in goes back into the show.

The national chains commercials are from the networks. One batch is probably CBS, the other is Westwood One. In the middle, you should be hearing local ads, not PSAs or show promos. Typically you will hear one or two ads for a local car dealership, but that is about it. They promo the hell out of events they do for Hard Times Cafe, but those spots are part of a package and probably go for next to nothing each spin.

I really don't know how that station keeps paying these people.

Perkins To Fill-In For O'Meara - 2/12 - DCRTV hears that Channel 5/WTTG morning weatherman Tony Perkins will be filling-in for Mike O'Meara in afternoon drive on WJFK on Friday. O'Meara's having knee surgery, we're told. Perkins, who is no stranger to DC radio, having worked at WKYS before his TV career, went to American University with O'Meara way back in the 1970s.....

Maybe if O'Meara wasn't such a fat ass he wouldn't need knee surgery.

I think what the show needs is more Buzz in the lead spot. I love it when Mike gets up to leave the studio on-air and Buzz is left to fill the time. He is so uncomfortable and doesnt know what to say. It's usually the same exact drone of "Mike has just gotten up from his chair and is leaving the studio. Mike has left the studio and is walking down the hallway. In the hallway, there is carpeting and walls. Mike is now walking into the Big O and Dukes Studio." Gimme a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What talent do they find in Buzz other than he can read the news ok. Ship him to WTOP to replace Bob Mahberg on traffic.

Fire Rob, Buzz, Beth-Ann.

Keep Joe and Mike.

Hire Perkins.

Mike and Perkins might work.

Mike is a funny guy with the right partner, but Rob and Buzz suck the life out of the show.

Buzz is a perverted old man, in the sunset of his life, destined to a bitter end surrounded by his porn, broken dreams, numerous feline critters, wondering what could have been if Don hadn't left. I've known a lot of people like him.
It is a sad commentary on someone who has invested his whole life into an atheistic, pantheist abyss. What a waste

God. I listened to a few minutes with Tony Perkins and it was worse than O'Meara. Not because Perkins was terrible (he doesn't have a very good radio voice), but because Robb and Buzz felt they had to "carry the show." It was like twice as much Robb and Buzz as normal. It was horrendous!

It makes perfect sense that WJFK would spend tons of money on O'Meara and his arsenal of producers to beat Don Kroah and his religious talk program....

http://www.wava.com/localhosts/11556134/

It makes as much sense as WJLA paying Larry King millions of dollars to go up against the Shut-Ins Sunday Sermon at 5:30 am on a Sunday morning.

Can something like this be in Mike's future?

R&R is also hearing strong rumblings that something’s going on (or off) with Adam Carolla’s Westwood One-syndicated morning show: His affiliates were reportedly given four days’ notice that his show is ending this Friday (Feb. 20). Carolla is based at CBS talk KLSX/Los Angeles.

From DCRTV.com

JFK To Be CBS's Last Guy Talker - 2/18 - There are rumblings today that CBS Radio is about to take an axe to its FM guy talk-formatted KLSX in LA. If true, that would leave DC's WJFK as CBS's last remaining FM guy talker. All of the other former "Free FM" talkers, formed when Howard Stern jumped to Sirius in early 2007, have gone back to some sort of music format or to sports talk. There have been rumblings that CBS might be flipping WJFK to sports talk, but so far the guy talk continues.

April marks Mike's one year anniversary. Who wants to take odds that his contract isn't renewed (despite whatever promises have been made verbally to our WJFK friends who like to visit and who aren't Mike).

Apparently I'm not the only one concerned/obsessed...

2/19 - From a reliable DCRTV source in the ad community: "My CBS Radio account exec told me tonite that sales management has informed them of possible format changes for WJFK and 94.7. The decision on both is expected in the next three weeks. Fun stuff as always with CBS DC! My guess is they both flip." Guy talker JFK 106.7 has been rumored to be going sports talk, but what would classic rock 94.7 WTGB flip to? CBS is flipping its LA guy talker to an "AMP" contemporary hits format. Both JFK and TGB, the Globe, haven't performed well in the new PPM radio ratings. More soon.....

Mike O'Meara should be able to produce a decent radio product after 30 years in the business, but he's proven he just can't do it. He's a talented mimic, but he rarely exploits his one talent, having somehow decided that being an afternoon clone of Jack Diamond (sans tunes) would work. It didn't and he'll be gone soon.

O'Meara was overshadowed by Donnie G. and that's why the Don and Mike show worked, Don knew how to broadcast, he carried the weight on the show, even to the point of an emotional breakdown.

O'Meara played along, got drunk, squandered his time, money and health in the process. He treaded water, made monster $$ in the D&M heyday by doing the minimum amount of work necessary.

What possessed O'Meara to think a news reader/voice-over guy (Buzz) a glorified board op (Rob) and a failed carpet saleswoman (Beth Ann) were going to make "radio magic"? Maybe the show make up wasn't O'Meara's call - if so, it proves Michael Hughes and/or Chris Kinard are much bigger hacks and idiots than I ever imagined. But they must be, because they let this CF of a show on the air in the first place!

Listen the TMOS at the peril of your remaining brain cells! And to TMOS staff: enjoy your well-earned upcoming extended vacation, it was all so well earned!

Tony's gig @ Fox 5 probably pays him better $$ than CBS will/can come up with in the current financial environment.

But Tony knows music and could probably pull off a breezy, PM talk/music/comedy mix with too much trouble - a la the afternoon drive time shows on BBC Two in the UK.

If JFK flips to (ugh) "sports talk", I only see the Junkies surviving the flip. There'd be no room the T. Perk Show.

The really bad news is that even with a JFK flip to another format, you'll have to live with Michael "King of the Balloon Heads" Hughes, and Chris "Amateur Hour" Kinard in charge of programming unless lightning strikes somewhere in the CBS Radio HQ.

If morons like Hughes and Kinard survive the flip, who knows what will happen? They'll probably promote TMOS to am drive and try to re-package Haystacks Calhoun, er Mike, as the new millenium's Ken Beatrice.

Every channel in a f*cked up, watered down XM/Siri is vastly superior to JFK, morning, noon and night.

Not a bad point, but you missed the big news on Wednesday. Mel Karmazin got the Direct TV honcho to pony up $500+ million to keep XM/Siri's creditor @ bay.

Alot of people who figured they'd be cashing in @ XM/Siri (including Don Geronimo) will have to come up with a "Plan B".
